Trying this banana cream cake for the first time. It's not sweet, but heavy and dense when picking it up. The cake has layers of banana, fresh cream, and strawberry. We chose chocolate cake and you can customize it. Heard that when strawberries are not in season, they will substitute it with peaches. I've been a loyal customer of Mazzetti's Bakery for many years because I truly love their cakes and other baked goods. Unfortunately, my experience today was very disappointing. When I arrived to pick up my order, a young employee with a ponytail was extremely rude and argumentative. While I was clearly waiting to be helped, she assisted another customer who arrived after me and then argued with me when I brought it to her attention. I understand that busy days happen, but there is no reason to be disrespectful to customers. Good customer service starts with courtesy and professionalism. Got a dozen of their muffins, with half being the Chocolate Cream Cheese Muffins and the other half being the Blueberry Muffins. Both were good. Let's be honest here, they're basically cake, lol, disguised as muffins so that people can start their day with eating cake haha, but they sure make for a sinfully tasty way to start the day! The Blueberry Muffins were super moist, and I loved that they used whole and plump blueberries throughout. What's not to like? It's essentially a moist yellow cake packed with sweet blueberries. Yum! The Chocolate Cream Cheese Muffins were just as moist. With that said, they were about 99% chocolate cake and 1% cream cheese, despite its name. With the cream cheese ending up being pretty forgettable, I think these muffins kinda fail to deliver what its name promises, especially because the cream cheese was only added on top, so it felt more like an afterthought than an actual component of the muffin. I think it would've been a lot more impactful if there had been a cream cheese filling inside instead. Just my 2 cents. They also sprinkled some tiny chocolate chips on top, but those didn't really add much either. Still, they were tasty muffins overall. A true gift to Pacifica, Mazetti's Bakery has been my favorite bakery since I was a child. I am very grateful for their hard work.

I've been a loyal Mazzetti's customer for 8+ years, but after having my son's name misspelled on his christening cake, I've been incredibly disappointed by their lack of customer service and handling of the mistake. It took multiple attempts to get an initial response from a manager, the only resolution offered was a $20 gift card for a cake that cost about $67, and when I asked them to reconsider, my repeated follow-ups went completely unanswered. For years, we've regularly made the 20-30 minute drive specifically to Mazzetti's for our family's celebrations. My online order history shows years of purchases, and that doesn't include the many times I've stopped in for holiday cakes, a dozen Super Bowl cupcakes, and other treats. In June, I ordered a cake for my son's christening, which we celebrated with family and friends in a private room at the Basque Cultural Center. His name was misspelled on the cake, and Mazzetti's later confirmed that I had spelled his name correctly on my original order. Having his name wrong on the cake for such an important, once-in-a-lifetime celebration was both incredibly disappointing and embarrassing. I paid about $67 total, including an additional $5 specifically for the decoration. After multiple attempts to reach someone, I finally received a response from a manager, who apologized and offered a $20 gift card. Given the relatively small amount, requiring me to return and spend additional money with the bakery to receive any compensation for their mistake didn't seem like an adequate resolution. I would have been happy with a replacement cake or another meaningful effort to make it right. I asked them to reconsider and received no response. I followed up again on August 18 and August 25 at the same active email address they had used to respond to me earlier in this process. In my final email, I specifically explained that I was considering writing a review because of the lack of response and customer service, but that I would much rather resolve the issue directly with them. I still received no response. Mistakes happen. The misspelled name itself is not ultimately why I'm writing this review. I'm writing it because of the lack of customer service afterward. I spent more than two months trying to address the issue privately, and after an inadequate initial resolution, my repeated attempts to continue the conversation were simply ignored. If something goes wrong with an order, my experience suggests there isn't an effective avenue for getting a concern addressed and resolved. My children both have birthdays coming up in the next few weeks. After 8+ years of choosing Mazzetti's for our family's celebrations, I'm now looking elsewhere for their cakes and for all of our future special occasions. That's incredibly disappointing after being such a loyal customer for so long. read more

What a wonderful bakery this is! You know it's popular judging from the line even though it's 50 years old. We got dad a birthday cake and I think it's called a density cake because man it must've weighed about 10 pounds. It was so beautiful when we cut into it, it had all different flavors of cake fresh bananas, fresh strawberries it was absolutely delicious. The service was good. Unfortunately, based on items purchased, I would rate them 3 stars (adding that half star for family): :: Lemon bar - their version has some cloyingly sweet, bright yellow, gel-like substance for the lemon (no natural lemon tang) with streusel on top. Not a fan. :: Apple Coffee Cake - simple cake, with some odd yellow streusel (canned apple glaze) on top and very nutmeg, forward. Something my grandma/grandpa would've enjoyed with their morning coffee...okay sister liked it too! Sadly, wasn't for me. Great price at $10! :: Raisin-cinnamon scone - buttery, melt-in-your-mouth after a 10 sec heat up in the microwave - would get this again :: Maple-glazed old fashioned donut - I prefer the raised donuts (sister got the wrong one *shaking fist*) but it was good. The flavor was actually distinct with crisp edges and soft interior. Their popular items: Derby cake: white cake with strawberries and a chocolate bottom layer with bananas. Unfortunately, they don't sell by the slice so will have to buy a whole cake and share for next time. Focaccia and cannolis seem to be the draw as well. I saw many people grabbing focaccia from the 3 options: cheese, pizza and a pepperoni and buying cannolis by the box: 8 for $36. Overall, great spot for REASONABLY priced cakes, pies, donuts, cupcakes, various cake slices (sans Derby cake), scones, cannolis, focaccia and old-school danishes. Coffee and indoor seating available to enjoy your sweets. Place gets busy in waves...went on a weekend around 215pm and wasn't busy...then a rush of people arrived after. I love their cakes! We preordered a derby cake for pickup the next day because I was told by a friend they don't offer slices. Writing is no charge but any other decorations has an extra charge. My husband picked up the cake and thought they were all very nice! Great service. Cake is so amazing. Very light, fruit is fresh. The icing is amazing. The icing wasn't too sweet. So amazing. Was looking for Sourdough Bread in the area since Rosalind's Bakery sold out. This has been a staple for decades & I remember going here years ago as one of my friends lived nearby. It was the only bakery around. We ended up looking for a large sourdough loaf but they only had baguettes so they said we could order it ahead of time for pickup the next day. The bakers come in at 1am. I ended up getting 2 Macaroons($1.95/ea) & 2 Chocolate covered Macaroons($2.25/ea), a mixed whole Blackberry-Blueberry Pie for $17.95(steal!). They have lots of Valentine's Day chocolates, pastries, cakes & a variety of Focaccia Bread. Such affordable prices too compared to other places which are probably twice as much. The plain Macaroons were so soft & flavorful, not too sweet & the Chocolate dipped Macaroons had a thick dark chocolate coating. Yummy!! I stopped by to try the cannolis because I saw some people recommend this shop. The shop looks quaint and old school, which I found charming. The service was prompt and friendly. It was ~$41 for my box of 9 cannolis. I'm not typically fond of maraschino cherries, but I didn't hate them in the cannolis since they added a nice fruitiness and slight almond flavor when eaten together. The cannoli shells were crisp and flaky. I was pleasantly surprised by the not too sweet filling which was also dotted with mini chocolate chips and lemon zest. I don't think the zest imparted a lot of citrusy flavor but I didn't mind. The amount of filling in each cannoli was inconsistent though, we had some that were underfilled in the middle. Overall, I think any cannoli lover would be pleased with Mazzetti's! It's definitely a solid cannoli.
