I ate one in my car in the parking lot, and saved the rest for later. They were delicious fresh and a day old and a few days old and refrigerator cold. They have their own parking lot, and the place is tiny, so I can't imagine parking would ever be a problem. This might have been a four-star review back in the day solely because there used to be so many donut places that weren't ripoffs with super friendly employees. Came here the other to satisfy a late night doughnut craving. Normally I get excited about the smell of doughnuts but when I stepped out the car and walk inside, nothing. What didn't sit well with me was I ordered one sugar twist donut, and not even a minute later she tossed the rest of that tray right in front of me. Why even sell it to me if it's deemed bad enough to toss. But I bought it anyway just to see. Lo and behold, it was stale and a little hard. Makes me think they just want my money and don't care about quality. I would rather them warn me they're going to be tossed instead of selling me one THEN tossing it. I did however enjoy the cinnamon roll after I microwaved it the next day for about 10 seconds. Even then, I'm wondering how long it was sitting out for before they would have tossed it. Then again, late night probably isn't the ideal time to get a fresh batch of donuts. Definitely one of my favorite donut shops because everything is made fresh and open 24/7. My favorite donut is definitely the coconut crumble, it's so soft and moist with a slightly crunch exterior due to the coconut shreds. Every time I come here, that's a must. They also have coffee and tea for anyone that's tired, not craving any donuts. There's usually one or two people working here, so there's never a wait to get your donut cravings in. The donut holes with fillings are also another favorite here, either plane or filled with custard topped with maple glaze. Recently, I saw they now have churros here!! After dinner, we dropped by to pick up some donuts for some friends and a few for ourselves. Donuts are always being made, so they're pretty fresh. Better than some other donut shops that don't have that many customers and donuts just sit there all day. It's 24-7 so always open, there are always customers here so the donuts are fresh, and the staff that work here are efficient and friendly. I don't know if I'm embarrassed or flattered that they recognize me now even though I live an hour away lol I've tried just about everything they have here and would say that the traditional donuts are their best. Think glazed raised, twists, raspberry jelly filled, blueberry cake, maple bars. This is not a donut shop for the "aesthetic" crowd. The donuts in the glass case are brown brown brown. The stranger the flavor, the less delicious. Stick to the basics here and you will leave happy. I had a chocolate raspberry jelly filled donut where the dough was a little heavier than I would have preferred and the jelly was not evenly filled throughout the donut. Even the outside of this donut shop looks classic with a mural on the outside and lots of regulars posted in the front just chit chatting and having coffee & donuts. I noticed they also have churros which is unique. I came for their apple fritter in which the size was huge. It's pretty crunchy on the outside with the dough being regular in the inside. I didn't taste any apple bites, just the plain cinnamon fritter. It wasn't bad but it's not on my top list of apple fritters. My wife and I had better from other places. Unfortunately, it was quite late and they had already sold out of apple fritters, but I did try a buttermilk bar and I think it was probably one of the best that I've ever had. Many places that make buttermilk bars often end up with something super dry that really requires coffee or a beverage to pair, but the Rolling Pin buttermilk bar was so moist all throughout and wasn't overly sweet (as far as donuts go). It was pretty expensive (I think just shy of $3) but I'm glad I was able to check out this donut institution. I usually get a dozen donuts and get the twist, glaze and old-fashion. They always melt in my mouth and are very filling as well. The service is always quick here, and they try to help as much as they can. It gets quite busy during the morning rush hours, and I recommend going either earlier or later, after the rush. I bought some of their donuts for the very first time and it was delicious. I got the chocolate glazed buttermilk donut and it was really good. It was nice and fresh. The donut was really crunchy and soft in the inside. When you park your car and step out, you can smell that sweet donut aroma. As you walking inside, the smell of donuts smell super good. It's a relatively small shop, but there's a variety of donuts to choose from and they have coffee and milk as beverages to go along with your delicious donut. We made our way from North Beach to San Bruno as we were staying in the Peninsula so it was perfect. We pulled in to the parking lot and as expected you have some excited for their choice of donuts customers walking out... and once you walk in? The aroma of donuts will get you. The dough, the sugar, the chocolate and the maple. All of it is great and intoxicating. Ha! I went with 2 glazed old fashioned (my favorite & litmus test for donut shops), 1 glazed buttermilk bar, a matcha cake donut, a sugar twist & a raised crumb donut. The lady at the counter was not having our indecisiveness at that late hour. Oh well, we couldnt make up our minds. It was overwhelming... sheesh. The old fashioned glazed was great. Lots of crunchy nooks & crannies. It was great that night and for breakfast the next morning. My cousins also liked their matcha donut and sugar twist choices. We will most certainly go back again.
