Hard to give a neighborhood small business a "bad review" since I genuinely feel after going here for 10+ years they are trying. Simply put, they will piss off some customers and make some customers feel uncomfortable because of the cultural differences and language barrier. Dining in with my family has never been a "great" experience but my family has done it a handful of times in the last 10 years. Their food is above average. Panang Noodle (chicken) is one of my favorites and also Lard Nar Beef. We just order for pickup and take it home. Last time I went in the guy at the front raised his voice at me and I was taken back. Why would you ever do that to a customer on a Sunday when other pple are dining in and can hear you. It was over a groupon and I wanted to take the food to go but said I would pay dine in (tax & tip). It's just interesting how you partner with a company like Groupon to get people in the door and instead you end up setting customers cause quite frankly, your customer service is pretty bad (as shown by other reviews). The reason I am giving one star is because the delivery guy had the nerve to complain about my tip as he was walking away so I could hear him. I walked down the stairs to meet him at the door and all he did was hand me a bag of food!!! I paid a delivery fee also - it's not like he served me the food or filled my water glass. (HELLO - it's a tip!) The beef and brocolli was not great - just ok - it didn't have a lot of flavor. Pad See Yew - very good - nice flavors Saigon Rolls - very tasty Pot Stickers - just ok Spring Rolls - good for free, don't think I would buy. I had just moved and requested silverware, napkins and soy sauce - they included none of it. I will probably order again and hopefully will get a better delivery person. read more

The food and service was terrible very salty. You had to keep asking the waitress who's the owner for water or for a slice of lime. I paid with my Visa and didn't include any gratuity and this waitress had the nerve to come outside and address my son that we didn't leave her tip. This lady said it is written in the menu regarding tip. My son gave her 5 dollars and she left talking her Thai language. This shows you this restaurant is a ghetto place don't waste your money. The grilled squid appetizer is one of my favorites of any Thai place in the area. Som Tum is very well prepared, too.

I've been looking for adequate Thai takeout/delivery in my neck of the woods up in the NW corner of Rogers Park, and this fills the bill nicely enough so far. Their curries seem to be a particular strength (we asked for duck in a red curry, which turned out nicely), and we also enjoyed the spicy noodles, and the Thai custard. Things like the papaya salad and the spring rolls were adequate. The key features are that they're nearby, cheap, quick on delivery, and the food's better than at some of the places down by Devon. read more

Siam Pasta is one of those hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurants that remind you why living in the city is so great. The layout of the restaurant is a bit peculiar, as was the staff. However, the food was pretty solid. It is clear that the bulk of their customers order take-out but the dining area is somewhat large (and, truthfully, a little shabby). read more

There's also one in Evanston, (I tried to review for that location on here-didn't find it) which has an awesomely-decorated interior AND an outdoor patio overlooking Dempster Street. The food comes quickly, is always good, and is pretty damn cheap. And the servers are almost all friendly--there's only ONE mean one!! Siam Pasta was one of my favorite neighborhood Thai places.. but the last time I was there there were a couple fruit flies floating around in the jalapeno jar. I think English should be taught to all new workers because most times I can't understand what they're saying when I call (no offense). I usually switch up my entree between the chicken pad thai and the beef fried rice but my appetizer is ALWAYS their crab rangoon. It's the best in the city. It's more crab than cream cheese which i love. It's not all gooey like most places. If you try anything from here, don't leave without having their crab rangoon. read more

Two words - CRAB LAGOON!! I can eat a million of those mouth watering crunchy deliciousness. No one - I repeat - NO ONE! makes their crab rangoons the way Siam Pasta does. Well I work in a business that is walking distance from this location. My co-workers and I used to love eating from this place. the food was good but the attendant could have been more personable and courteous. I found myself eating their food one day and as I poked at my food I found a fly in the Pad Thai plate I had. I was so disgusted that I will never come back to this place. Mmm, I've loved this place for the past 10 years. They are really friendly, the food is great and it's the only Thai place around here that carries Meekrob which is a MUST in my book. Additionally, they will gladly leave the fish sauce out of anything besides the curry (which it comes in apparently?) making everything vegetarian friendly with a tofu option. I love this place...the food is delicious, and not hurtful on the pocketbook. The service has always been fast and friendly, and for being in Chicago, parking is never a problem, (at leas not so far). Eat takeout from here often. They are very quick and have a good price point. I really like the baby egg rolls and fried rice. I'm not a big fan of the noodle dishes because I don't think they have enough sauce (I'm a sauce lover). I'd recommend it as a takeout joint; I don't see too many people eating in. read more

They have excellent tasting fried rice w/ big portions. It's more of take-out vs a dine-in restaurant. I first started going to this restaurant in 1993, the year it opened. It's now 2008, I reside in a different state and during my infrequent visits to Chicago, I still find myself venturing into Siam Pasta for their fried rice. Not sure if it's nostalgia or the fried rice. The owners are the same, it's a family owned business. They have a sister restaurant in Evanston. During this penny-pinching economy, it helps that they have coupons in their take-out menu. One is for "free" egg rolls w/ purchase of $10, the other is a free entrée (?) for dine-in only w/ purchase of two entrees. Come to think of it, they have always had these coupons ... since 1993. Parking may be a bit of a challenge. At times, I have found myself circling the block but usually find a spot on Western Avenue. All this for their fried rice! Go figure. The restaurant is located in Rogers Park so I've been leery of leaving my vehicle unattended for long periods of time, hence the preference for take-out food. read more

My mom first introduced me to Siam Pasta because she loved the chicken satay. The chicken satay is good, but these days I'm all about their Pad Thai with tofu. The Pad Thai with tofu is YUMMY! You get a huge portion for around $7. The service is so/so. They basically bring you the dish you ordered, and never come back around to ask if everything is ok. No free refills on soda. My tummy is growling right now thinking about the Pad Thai! They bring out a 2 little containers, one with hot sauce and one with crushed peanuts. Their hot sauce is delish with their Pad Thai, and I pour so many crushed peanuts on top they prob hate me for eating all their peanuts!! Try the chicken satay or my fav Pad Thai w/ tofu if you go! The bill is always under $10 for Pad Thai and a coke, so that's a bonus. read more

Early 90's was golden where the Pad Thai set the gold standard for our family and all that we took there to dine. Could not find superior noodle in NY, LA or FL. But chefs do retire so the taste has not been great. The Pad-See-Wu is still good, baby egg rolls stellar, Green and Panang curry nicely done. Cucumber salad, Spring rolls and Mee Krob are still delightful. But the fish is atrocious. Whether the snapper or the salmon, both were yuck. read more

We arrived at 9:20pm (they close at 10pm on a Friday). Immediately asked to order. My wife sat down and my butt was approaching the seat, but comfort wasn't on the menu and placing an order was made a priority. We both knew that we wanted spring rolls so we went ahead and placed the appetizer order. The waitress asked if we were ready with the rest of the order. I responded to the waitress that I had just sat down. She didn't understand. I repeated that I had just sat down. She shook her head. Language barrier. My wife spoke up and said that we needed a minute and the waitress walked away. I believe that aside from us, there was only one other patron in the restaurant. They were getting ready to close early. They turned off the music while we were waiting for our spring rolls. Not the best ambience, an empty restaurant with no music. I remarked that it felt a bit like invading someone's house. Our spring rolls arrived, along with our water. Nothing notable about the rolls, but we were hungry. Tasteless, almost microwaved, with a sauce ladled on top that tasted like honey mixed with soy. I supplied my waitress with a printed groupon and she walked away. We finished our lackluster rolls and the waitress arrived with our entrees. She asked that we buy something more because of the $5 minimum restaurant policy. I told her I wasn't interested in anything else on the menu. She asked for us to pay in cash. I told her we didn't have any cash. She said it's restaurant policy, and I apologized to her and said that they should rethink their policy this time. After a good long eye contact I said that we would be more than happy to leave. The waitress mumbled something like No the food is already here you might as well eat it, and walked away. I asked my wife if she had any cash hidden anywhere. She said no. I thought about credit card machines. They do tend to charge businesses an annoying fee for small purchases. I wondered if it was possible to pay the fee instead of being asked to buy more food. Another woman arrived at the table. Another waitress, with a better grasp of English. She asked me to buy more, or pay in cash. A different person but the same rigmarole. I told her that it was illegal to force customers to pay in cash or buy more food. She said she has been a waitress for a long time and that she knows what she's talking about. I didn't tell her that she was being a terrible waitress. I did, however, get up with my wife and leave the restaurant. They kept my groupon. What a sad experience. read more

The food is great. Amazing pad Thai and mini egg rolls are so good. I'm really not happy tonight after receiving my delivery though. I paid extra for the combo shrimp and chicken option. There was only 1 shrimp in the entire dish. I called to complain and they told me they only put 2 shrimps in that dish. WHAT???!! I paid extra and ordered shrimp because I wanted shrimp not just 1 single tiny shrimp. Why would you put that as an option if it's all chicken and 1 little shrimp?? Also the pad Thai comes with tofu automatically that looks like chicken, and the description does not say it includes tofu ! When I called to complain she refused to give me any type of refund or credit! Very upset. False advertising. My pot sticker sauce dip was very thick and very sweet, not good. So disappointing to order this food and order from a restaurant so often to then have this bad customer service and false advertising. read more
