    Trio Refreshing

Went back to my roots tonight for dinner. A favorite comfort place of mine. Asian Station NEVER disappoints! The food just ALWAYS hits. Went with the Trio Refreshing (recommended for those who enjoy sashimi) and then the Unagi Don. Wasn't disappointed at all!! Actually very pleased as most places these days skimp on the highlight of the Unagi Donburi - the unagi. But not the case tonight! And all of the accompaniments made my Unagi Don taste so much better!! Topped with tempura crunch, daikon radish on the side, fish roe, pickled carrots and all with futokake seasoning mixed in the rice. Perfectly satisfying. Asian Station is a very unassuming spot but once inside feels like home.

Came here for the lunch special on a Monday and was greeted by friendly staff. The inside is so colorful and welcoming, lots of collectibles and art on the wall. I ordered a Thai iced coffee, salad, sweet potato roll, and pad kee mao with chicken. Portions were huge - I felt full already after eating the sweet potato roll which was amazing!! I would go back just to eat the sweet potato roll. Very affordable - I'll definitely come back especially since it's walking distance from my apartment.

I was here randomly the other day I have passed by this place before The food was good and if you think about food places that are near train stations this would be a good one. Sushi and sashimi were good. This was the first time in my life having a fish soup

Unfortunately found a staple in my Pad Thai.

Typically love this place but I ordered Pad Thai for dinner tonight and imagine my surprise when I bit into what I thought was a bone, pulled it out of my mouth and it was a staple! I get that mistakes happen but how does a staple end up in the food! May have to give this place a break.

Located near Morse Red Line train stop, this clean looking restaurant has excellent reviews. It was conveniently located near the Rhapsody Theater. However, I am not a fan of msg. I was very thirsty afterwards which is a sign of msg. Also for past two days, I have had diarrhea.

Super tasty take out spot. Pan asian fusion cuisine. I love they have certain Malaysian -Indonesian style offerings like roti canai with yellow curry to dip in. Lots of different styles. It's pretty much all take out here but the service was good. It's a cute spot inside. If you're into comic cons and anime they have quite the assortment. But for the area, the food is great, variety, taste style. I can always find something that hits the spot.

We passed by Asian Station once before and saw it was closed. We decided to come for dinner on a Saturday evening. So glad we did! First off, love the little toys and gadgets around the front! The toys definitely gave Asian Station an added plus. I liked seeing the dinosaurs, and the Marvel action figures on display. Around the front, the menu has been set up on top of the toys. The menu offered options such as Hawaiian Fried Rice, Kee Mao, Thai Chicken Satay, Lime Chicken, Mango Juice, Lemonade and the perennial favorite, Thai Ice Tea. We did not have to wait long for our food. For the take out, I ordered the Vegetarian Kee Mao. It tasted divine! It came with red and green peppers, tofu, tomato, fat noodles, mung beans. Joseph ordered the Hawaiian fried rice. He said it was tasty. Come to Asian Station. Bring friends, family or a date. Note: take out available only.

    Beef pad see ewe

I can see why this place has such good ratings. I got delivery from this place and everything was delicious and for such a good price. I got the beef pad see ewe, shrimp tom yum soup, and the tofu panang curry. I wish the beef pad see ewe had more veggies in there, but other than that it was perfect. As for the shrimp tom yum soup, they had a good amount of shrimp and veggies! Lastly, the tofu panang curry was outstanding. I enjoyed the curry very much. Delivery was just under 45 minutes which is a reasonable amount of time. This place will be my go to place for thai food. I haven't tried any of their other food yet.

Really good red curry. I'll go back to try more. The menu is so diverse, and picked up items are bagged well so they don't leak.

We arrived right at opening for dinner service, along with only one other couple. We were allowed to choose our own seats, which was a nice start. Our server asked if we wanted cocktails, and we ordered draft beer from the menu -- only to be told they no longer serve beer on draft. If that's the case, it really should be removed from the menu. The service throughout the evening was unfriendly and rushed. After taking our order, the server quickly removed all the menus from the table. Since we were ordering sushi, we likely would have ordered additional items if we had been allowed to keep a menu. One of our favorite items at most sushi restaurants is the salmon skin hand roll, but this version was terrible. The salmon skin was extremely hard, dry, and difficult to eat -- more like stale pork rinds than properly prepared salmon skin. Normally, salmon skin is lightly broiled and served warm in the roll. This tasted as though it had been deep fried long before serving and left sitting in a container until needed. When the server asked how our meal was, we politely explained the issue with the salmon skin. Rather than acknowledging the concern, she insisted that this is how it is supposed to be made. The rest of the food was just average at best. Honestly, because we came at the beginning of dinner service, much of it tasted like leftovers from lunch. We still left a tip, but after several disappointing visits and consistently rude service, we will not be returning.

This place really has atmosphere. The waitstaff are more than happy to go through the menu and help you decide what you're in the mood for. Just be warned - when they say it's spicy, it's *really* spicy, which is great if that's what you want (I do!). Good to have authentic Asian fare in the Northern reaches of the city. Would have liked a meat alternative but other than those drumsticks, which are brought in frozen and premade and therefore, the "meat" cannot be used in an entree-only the tofu was gluten free. Although I mixed in tamari and sirahcha, this was delicious. The hot pit crisped the rice perfectly and the veggies and tofu were cooked really well. We also got their raw berry cheese cake and a scoop of soy vanilla ice cream for dessert. The crust of the cheesecake wasn't really good but everything else was excellent. Service was great with a lot of good suggestions and he was very friendly. The place isn't much to describe. Just a very casual interior with an Alice in wonderland motif. The cardamom grape was not as sweet as I was hoping, and a very faint flavor. It's very possible I just chose the wrong items for my taste buds. But these were my first impressions on this order.

Later, we admired its high-end rebirth on North Broadway, well before the neighborhood had gentrified enough to match its classy atmosphere and sophisticated menu. Then Pasteur closed again and didn't reopen until after we had moved to San Diego. Last night, more than a decade later, we found Pasteur again! The same airy and elegant French Colonial interior remains, now paired with an amazingly fitting terrace. The menu's design could use an updated look to better match the restaurant's upscale décor, but what's on the menu matters far more than how the menu looks. And the dishes are gastronomic masterpieces -- no exaggeration. Since there were four of us, we each ordered a different appetizer and shared the dumplings, egg rolls, spring rolls, and Saigon crêpes so we could experience a variety of flavors. They were all truly exceptional. For our main courses, we had the catch-of-the-day branzino, lemongrass chicken, basil beef, and Pasteur's signature steak. As with the appetizers, we all sampled each other's dishes. Everything came with truly fresh, crisp vegetables, amazing sauces, and wonderful flavors. No disappointments, no envy, no regrets. Finally, we ordered only the Chocolate Mousse Cake to share, since there was hardly any room left for dessert after the generous portions -- portions so delicious that we practically cleaned every plate. Just the night before, we had the chocolate mousse cake at The Publican, and there was simply no comparison: Pasteur won hands down. In fact, Pasteur surpassed the much-hyped The Publican in every category: atmosphere, service, food, noise level, value, pricing, and convenient parking. Our exceptional dinner at Pasteur cost about half as much as our meal at The Publican and many other downtown spots, while delivering a far superior dining experience. We also want to thank Lisa and her fellow server (whose name I unfortunately can't remember) for being wonderful, attentive, quick, and incredibly polite -- all while graciously and heroically putting up with my jokes thanks to their great sense of humor. If you've read this far, I cannot recommend Pasteur highly enough. It remains one of the best foodie destinations in Chicago. It is absolutely worth the quick -- and scenic -- drive north along Lake Shore Drive for one of the most memorable dining experiences you can have in Chicago, or truly anywhere else. Enjoy, see our photos, and let me know what you think!
