    Beef with tomato rice
    Amy D.

The beef with tomato rice is so iconic. Do yourself a favor and try it! Portions were generous, and the presentation was simple yet inviting. The dish alone is worth a visit, but the service and atmosphere wasn't bad. The staff was attentive, and the menu had so many great options to explore. If you're looking for Asian flavors and hearty portions, Joy Yee Noodles is the place to go. Highly recommend giving this spot a try! - AT

Phenomenal boba and milk tea menu! Plenty of space to sit while you wait for your drink or food order!! They have pictures with all the drinks available which was helpful!!

Went here on a weeknight and service was very fast. Received my order in about 10-15 minutes. The eel with beef cubes and tomato rice was very savory. The portion of eel was big and soft. The beef cubes were very tender and a little bit spicy. The mango smoothie was cold and sweet and the tapioca gave it a nice, chewy, flavor. The table and bathroom was very clean.

This is a nice alternative to the Chinatown location with ample parking. I like their smoothies so much that I had it two times at alternating locations. This time it was fresh mango papaya with basil seeds (Five stars on drinks). I ordered takeout, seafood chow mein and beef cube tomato rice. The chow mein did not blow me away as I wanted more pieces of seafood and it did not have shrimp. The later is a comfort food dish. It was delicious albeit on the greasy side. This version is like a fried rice preparation with eggs in a tomato base served with a beef cubes on top.

As I've mentioned in other reviews, my Chinese takeout is limited to the Americanized options. I haven't explored much beyond the stuff I grew up eating. I plan to change that up soon. Joy Yee has a few locations around Chicago and I find them to be pretty consistent. ..both in food quality and inconsistent friendliness. Lbvs. The Orange Chicken is my tried and true go to dish. It's particularly good when I have the time to dine in. Each location is spotless and the smoothies will make you feel like the fried calories are balanced out. Check em out and let me know what you think.

I like this location far more than their Chinatown location. It could be that this location is newer, but the quality and flavors seem to be better? I've only ordered delivery a couple times, but I'm glad this is closer to me than Chinatown. They were nice enough to call to lmk they didn't have something and ask what I'd want instead. Japanese Tofu with 2 Mushrooms and Basil String Beans & Tofu were good but a tad too saucy and salty. Governor's Chicken was sweet, not spicy, and I would've liked the breading to be crispy. Great combo lunch portions- comes with soup and egg roll. I was disappointed with the Thai Spicy Basil Chow Fun- tasted no different than a regular Chow Fun. Hot and Sour Soup was as expected in taste but too much soup- I would've liked more egg, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc. The Vietnamese Fried Pork Egg Rolls were better than most- I believe they have taro inside! The Avocado Freeze is my favorite here; I've yet to find it better elsewhere!

Wow what a surprise to find this mini location! Was looking for a last minute place to eat close by that wasn't fast food and remembered a friend telling me this just opened. Same old Joy Yees. Same old delicious Pan Asian Cuisine. I had to get my favorite dish here, the Korean BBQ short ribs over rice. Just something about the way its seasoned never gets old. I've been having this dish for over 20 yrs now and it's still one of my favorites. Tenderly cooked and just bursting with flavor. Also had a taste of the kimchee fried rice and that was tasty as well. Inside, it's not as big as the one on Halsted. So not good for large groups. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 kids so we were fine. Also the fact that it was an hour away from closing and no one was in there dining in helped too. This location probably sits about 15 to 20 and anymore than that would be too much. They have the full menu for food available along with all the smoothies and Boba you could want. I will definitely be back. This location is a lot closer to me than all their other ones so I expect to be frequenting here a lot.

I am neither a big rice eater or red meat eater, but one faithful night I was craving both. I have been to several of the local Joy Yee's locations, but this was my first time ordering from the Roscoe location, and boy was it good! The signature Tomato and Beef or Beef and Tomato dish? Chef's kiss. Was fresh and flavorful. Great portion. Prepared quick. Delicious! Highly recommend you try it!

I've been to the Joy Yee, in China Town, a thousand times and had a craving for Chinese. The restaurant was really quiet for dine in guests, but service was fast. The portion size was really really big. My plate was overflowing! I got the garlic chicken with noodles and it tasted perfect.

Grilled Chicken Kimchi. Flat. Out. Disgusting.

This is supposed to be "Grilled Chicken Kimchi". The chicken does not look grilled nor does it resemble chicken in ANY shape, form or fashion. The "chicken" smells of ammonia and the dish is just plain rancid. I HIGHLY recommend people to stay FAR away from this place as you simply don't know WTF they are passing off as food.

The food came out quick and each item was a solid 10/10. The ambience was also amazing!

    Beef lo mein

Food was bland. My beef lo mein was not seasoned with neither soy sauce nor salt and was a very light color. It tasted like everything was boiled together in water. Spicy garlic chicken was neither spicy nor had garlic and was extremely sweet. The only reason I don't feel ripped of is that the ingredients were fresh as far as I could tell and the lady on the phone was gracious enough to give me store credit for the future.

Best boba in the game. They have perfected their tapioca and their menu is fabulous. Always great service. If I could go every day I would.

We got the fried chicken gyoza as an appetizer, and it was easily the best dish of the night…read more For our entrees, we ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy tuna roll, and we enjoyed both. We definitely felt full by the end of the meal, which was surprising because it is usually hard to feel full off sushi. I have been to the NYC location before, and I will say I enjoyed my meal at the Chicago location significantly more. In terms of drinks, the cocktails were well made. However, the shots were pretty watered down, which was disappointing. It's definitely an aesthetic spot. However, the biggest downside is the service. We were a relatively large party but were on time for our reservation, and we still had to wait over a half hour before we were even seated. Service throughout the night took an extremely long time, and we were starving before we even saw any signs of food.

Another 2026 Restaurant Week Goodie!…read more Years ago I worked at Excalibur and Vision Nightclubs that were where Tao is today, so I was excited to see how they re-did the building. They had valet parking in front for $20, so that was super easy. The big front wooden doors are still there, but that is one of the few things that stayed the same. Upon walking in their lounge area was very nice, and chill. We grabbed a couple of drinks while waiting for our table to open up. We were seated pretty quickly, and began our culinary journey. The ambiance is very nice, and I am a big fan of the over-the-top decorations like the large statue of Quan Yin with the projections over it as well as the beautiful lamps and extra large tassels and curtains. For food we tried all of the appetizers available since there were three of us. They were all delicious, but my favorites went in this order: 1. Tuna tartar with crispy rice 2. Lettuce wraps 3. Chicken satay For our entree all three of us went for the sirloin steak, medium rare, and all three were perfectly cooked and seasoned! The meat literally melts in your mouth, and the sauce that they give for dipping accents the meat perfectly. Dessert we did the same as the appetizers; Try all 3! Favorites in order: 1. Match Creme Brulé - Lightly sweet, not punch-you-in-the-face matcha, but a perfect mix. 2. Banana pudding - Seems straight forward, but they put a caramelized banana on top with fortune cookie crumbles. 3. Chocolate Buddha - The dark chocolate mousse is super rich The DJ kept great music going during our whole meal, but at a perfect volume, so that we could also enjoy conversation at the table. We didn't get to check out the club area.... Only think I'd say Tao is maybe you should bring back the Friday night seances! lol
