I am not sure what is going on here with this Shreddit vendor but I can confirm all the recent negative reviews. This once great service provider has suffered some type of catastrophic failure recently. We have used this company for years and have never been unhappy until recently. It is impossible to trust or put faith in anything they say or promise. I really hope they can pull up from this death spiral and save their core customers and start making a recovery. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! We have been a long time customer but recently have had billing problems. They actually didn't send bills for 6 months. We are a busy office and if we don't receive a bill it won't be paid. The 1st I found out about these bills is when they turned it over to a collection agency. I immediately paid and was current. For the next 3 months I received bills and paid them on time. For the next 3 months I also received bills from the collection agency. Any call to Shred-it takes at least an hour. How to explain how awful this company is.....I don't think there are enough words. We have not used them since May of 2021 but I am somehow getting a bill for $155.25 and no one can tell me what it's for. I was set up on auto pay so there's no way a bill went unpaid. They took their box back in the summer of 2021. So why am I getting a bill 18 months later? I have switched companies numerous time but every single time I have Shred it has purchased that company and formerly great customer service has gone to he** in a handbasket. May 13 (Thu) - Signed the e-doc they sent and provided payment information May 14 (Fri) - Followed up since no one called or emailed me back for the schedule May 15 (Mon) - Still did not hear back May 16 (Tue) - Still did not hear back so I follow up. Was told we're scheduled for May 20 (Thu) May 20 (Thu) - Day of service. I was told to call in the morning for a more specific time of arrival. I was told they can't come. I wouldn't have known if I hand't called. I tell them if they can't find something for tomorrow, then cancel it. I get a call back that saying they found something for tomorrow. May 21 (Fri) - Reached out to find out what time and was told between 3:30-4:45pm. They will call me an hour prior to arrival. I call at 2:30pm since no one has called. I was put on hold for a long time only to be told that dispatch was going to call me. Long story short they cannot make it. Again. I call our rep Claudia Rogel multiple times and suddenly she won't pick up the phone. Used another number and then she picks up. They led us on and pulled our leg for a long time. This company has absolutely horrible customer service. They give you a quote, which is vague about what the actual charges are going to be, and then when you ask them to help you understand the charges they just ignore you. We had a scheduled appointment, which they missed and didn't tell us that they were not coming. It took nearly a week to find out that they rescheduled... without informing us. Then when you attempt to contact them, they don't even respond to emails. It became clear that the emails were received when I got an automated response from one of them that they were out of the office that day. After 10 years or more with "service", we saw our monthly fee increase from approximately $60 a month to more than $120 for once a month service for a small cabinet. Other reviews that I read, seem to indicate billing irreguarities. To make matters worse they have failed to pick up documents for two months, despite numerous telephone calls inquiring as to when they will be coming. I began to look at alternative services and found that the price being charged was substantially more that what I would be charged from other providers. Do not use this company! They will not come pick up, cannot answer the phone or emails. After they were taken over by Stericycle it went downhill. You can't even cancel the service. After 6 months they still are billing us for service not received and have never picked up their bin after we cancelled our service. They just started showing up recently out of the blue and we are not even at our location anymore. Terrible company. TERRIBLE. RUN AWAY WHILE YOU CAN!! I have NEVER left a Yelp review in my entire life because I believe everyone is entitled to make their own decisions. However, I literally cannot say enough bad things about this company. I would give it zero stars if I could. Absolutely AWFUL customer service. No management, no fixing issues...nothing. Drivers DO NOT show up for pickups, or supposedly show up to say the bins are inaccessible even though we are staffed in 2 offices. We have opened multiple tickets that remain unresolved. We have had exactly ONE pick up in 3 1/2 months and we are being billed for all of them, including the "pickups" to replace the scheduled pickups where they didn't show up. Even the sales rep who signed me up and tried to help me resolve these issues finally threw up his hands and says he can't help any longer because they kept closing his escalated tickets. We've had a regular pickup at my company for years and they used to be reliable, however they went through an organizational transition and now they are incredibly difficult to deal with. Even our salesperson agreed, but the Billing Dept is just a pit bull with a cash register. Although they do their deliveries on time and professional, trying to deal with their billing dept is crazy! First when we were approached by their sales man (very professional), he told us we get two small containers for the price of one ($40 a month). When we received our first invoice I noticed that we were charged for both ($160 plus fees). I emailed our sales man who promptly replied back that he forwarded my email to billing (I never heard back even after a couple more emails to my sales guy). I finally got to talk to someone in Chicago I believe, who told me that no, you only get one container for $80, since you requested 2 you are charged $180. I asked them to pick up the second container which they did on my regularly scheduled service date. Today i get my bill and notice that I am still being charged for two containers plus a fee for them picking up the second container. I tried calling the billing dept and was given the run around saying that this bill was for when I had two containers from November to December and that the bill I paid last month was for the delivery of the two containers in november (even though the invoice clearly states "off site regular service" and the charge is exactly the same) She tried telling me the bill I have now which is due on Feb 21, is for my November to dec services. I would not recommend this company, they can't get their billing correct and you will be paying for services you will not be getting. I usually don't write bad reviews but I made the exception with Shred-it to save other potential customers the headache. First, the intake person is nice but a bit overzealous and pushy. Several steps to take just to get your financial information in place. Then he would call repeatedly to make sure the forms were complete. My first thought was this was a company that made sure all the 't crossed and the i's were dotted) which is a good place to ensure my documents were properly shredded. They gave me a specific day to pick up my materials because they serve specific areas on certain days. Then I was given a 4-hour window in which they would arrive. I arranged my to the day/time Guess what !! they never showed... I gave the benefit of the doubt and reschedule... the same outcome. I was courteous enough to call and cancel... my advice... don't bother with them at all.... poor service all around. read more

Our office made four appointments for an on-site shredding. Each time the driver did not show up and the appointment needed to be reset. The team executive, Lisa Gowers, as well as the Regional Director, Mike Kelly, have no control on their team, their drivers, or the ability to fulfill services. This complaint is for my department who spent a full month of being put on hold daily for hours trying to schedule a pick up only to be told that our account requires a new contract signature. The contract was unreasonable and much higher in price so we've since been trying to cancel and have them pick up their bin. I've been passed around to 5+ people today alone trying to cancel and schedule the last pick up. They refuse to give me a working email, or any call back numbers. The refuse to let me speak to a supervisor. They say they will call back in 2-3 days only to wait weeks without call or email. I'm at a loss of how to remove ourselves from this company. read more

I am so blown away by their total lack of professionalism and customer service that I don't even know where to start. If you email them you got a copy & paste reply with no further follow up. If you're going to call, you'd better plan to be on hold for easily over an hour and then more often than not, mid-way thru your conversation you'll get cut off. I was supposed to get several bins delivered three weeks ago and got stood up five different times. We finally got the bins but the truck to pick them up still hasn't arrived and there are only two hours left in the day. Ironically, you get the same poor service when you try to pay a bill - put on hold forever and then cut off. Anywhere has got to be better than this. With all the time I've wasted on this poor excuse for a company I could have brought my little shredder in from home and done it myself. How in the world do they stay in business??? read more

My company enrolled in Auto-pay Shred-it took 8 payments before I could switch off the autopay so they couldn't keep taking more money at the beginning of October. I emailed Support my bank statement and they sent me my billing info umm no people you're taking my money. after calling 8 times today I am finally told they will credit me in two billing cycles and was hung up on by the customer service rep. read more

Wow....so hard to find a reliable shredding company in the Oakland area!!! I called shred-it after having been canceled on by another company. They said they would come between 12-4pm and would give me a 30 minute heads-up....perfect!! Or....well....it would have been perfect if they had ever called or showed up...but neither happened! Calling at 3:35 revealed that I "was not in their system"?! Not sure how that could be...they should have had everything (including a credit card #) on file! So sad...I am looking for a reliable shredding company that shreds on site in the Oakland area. I would like to give some more stars, but the quality of service in the past year has declined substantially. We have had biling problems, pickups not coming on scheduled days, and now I can't even seem to get a schedule for our pickup dates emailed to me. I have called the Concord office twice and given my email address, and I have still not been sent the schedule I was told would be emailed to me. My employer also called Shred-It before our last scheduled pickup date to say we didn't need a pickup (our bag was only 1/5 full or less), but someone came out anyways and the bag was taken because the office staff did not know a cancellation had been made (my employer had called from out of the office to cancel the pickup). Last year, we had an issue where our account was suddenly not on file, but a sales rep came out to our office to speak with us directly and have us sign up for a new account. They even offered us a discounted rate! We loved that they came out to rectify the problem and it showed a great deal of care. I'm not sure if management has changed, but I don't seem to see that same quality of service anymore... read more

This has been a terrible experience and I would not recommend them. I would rather shred my paper with my teeth than deal with these people. I used them for six months and the monthly fee went up in that short time without anyone telling me; they just billed me for it. When I canceled service with them, they charged me $236 to remove a desktop shredding bin. I could not find this fee in my contract. When my assistant called to get a breakdown of this fee, they claimed to have escalated it to a manager and promised to send an email follow up. They never did and and they couldn't point out where this fee had been listed in our contract. My assistant called back and spent another 90 minutes on the phone with no resolution and no one ever sent the promised follow up. Very shady company. read more

Amazing, professional, fast and when YOU are ready they will pick up. Shed-it sheds on site. My husband passed away in December and I was so overwhelded with all the documents he had in his office at home. I finally found "Shed-It". I told the customer service rep I did not know how long I would need the box (which is huge) and she said don't worry just call when you are ready. I literally had the container for 6 months before I was ready for pickup. Andre Pike came 3 days after I called and also you don't pay until they pickup. The truck was professional in size he opened the side of the trailor and there was this hugh shedder machine. I said I was sure I had not got all the staples,pin,paper clips out. Andre replied this machine will shed metal. I was so impressed with no worried of any documents getting into the wrong hand. Shred it did fine with picking up our files to be shredded. The problem is with their billing or accounting person. We paid our bill months ago but have received over 5 more invoices saying they came twice. We've talked to them numerous times and they say it's taken care of, then we get another invoice and they keep claiming they came twice. No communication and unable to meet their own scheduling. They reschedule your pick up without notification and the turnover of the staff is very high. I get a new account manager every 3-6 months. Then they have the nerve to charge you to end of the service date citing the contract terms when you try to end their services. Whatever you do, don't get sucked in - you'll regret it !!! read more

I needed a shredding company to shred sensitive files for our office. I submitted an online quote request, but heard nothing back within the 24-hour timeline I was given for someone to contact me. So I submitted another request. One week later, no reply. I went to one of their competitors, who responded to me within ONE HOUR. If I could give zero stars I would - another unsatisfied business customer. The reasons: 1. Overcharged on one bill and it took 3 separate calls on 3 billing cycles to get it corrected. 2. Supposed to shred once a month at my office - 47 days between one cycle and 14 days on the next cycle. 3. Downsizing my business and went from 3 shred boxes per month to one box - no change in bill. 4. Everytime I call about any of the above issues I'm hung up on at least one time during each call.
