My first time to the shred center in Concord this wknd! I took a recycle bag pretty full then a…read moregood sized box. The price for the recycling bag was 23.00 and I almost choked! I thought shredding paper in seconds was much cheaper. So I said let me take out the junk mail since I can just scratch my name off, I really wanted confidentiality taken care of which cost 15.00. Also for future reference I asked about pricing. So basically a small box that they have in their location is ruffly 20.00 but it can't go over the top. I took mostly all my papers back home but got some of the more important stuff I wanted shredded gone. I still gave them a 5 star because the man there and older lady were extremely polite and gave good information.

We recently moved, and had boxes of mail to shred so we scheduled a pickup with Bay Shred. They…read moretold us: "We'll call you thirty minutes before we come over". Then a few days before, we got a worse-than-the-cable guy window of 10:30am - 4pm. We have already moved out of the old place, so this was important -- both my wife & I work, so we couldn't just hang out at an old place with no internet. Two hours passed, and I thought, "What's the most likely failure mode? Calling my wife's phone or forgetting to call?". So I called them and was told "Oh they'll be there in an hour." An hour passed. No call. So I called again, "They're on their way!". Finally it was 3pm, so I drove half an hour back to our old place, on the theory they would have to be there by 4pm... right? No calls on the way to our place, so I called them once I got there. "Let me see if we can find the driver!". Then came the admission that the driver had actually dropped by our place around 1pm, but had simply forgotten to call either of us [!]. I don't rightly know how you can forget this since it was part of the engagement and I called about it repeatedly throughout the day... Anyway, after another 30 minutes of waiting at the empty house in which dispatch told me she would work it out with the operations center. When she finally got back in touch with me, she told me that well, the business closes at 5pm, and well, would I be available the next Tuesday? This was Thursday. Anyway, she promised the driver would be disciplined. I don't really care about that -- maybe this one driver is a screwup, but if your business processes can end up with someone having a _five day_ delay, they don't seem very robust. In fact, they're so bad it made me skeptical of whether I would trust them with shredding personal documents. Anyway, I'd spent so much time at our old house it was rush hour so it took an hour getting home (normal travel time: 20 minutes). My wife & I cancelled the order and we're just carrying the boxes ourselves to another vendor. Maybe they dont make house calls that often? Their website makes it seem like they do, and if so, I just don't think anybody should give this company their business. Honestly, I feel like they owe *me* some money for wasting so much of my time.

The staff was friendly, efficient, and clearly focused on security. They walked me through the process, answered every question, and made sure everything was handled safely. I came here to shred about a dozen boxes of paper. They charge $15/banker's box of paper. You can…read morebring in your paper in whatever box size or container you want--you'll just dump it all into these plastic garbage bins (similar to the ones used for yard waste), and they will eyeball how many boxes it is based on how much it fills up the bin. There weren't any markings on the inside of the bin, and there were already papers inside, so I wasn't sure how they knew how many boxes it was. Seems like the guy just guesstimates how many boxes worth is in there. In my case I felt it was fairer to me, so that was fine. The employees were friendly, but the one drawback was privacy concerns. They said they would put locks on the bins, but none of them I saw were actually locked. And if you have a smaller amount of paper to shred, they have another machine that one of the employees just feeds in themselves. I saw they were doing one woman's papers in front of her and pretty much looking at all of them. It seemed like they had good intentions of making sure you're not shredding anything valuable, but like I don't care--you should assume I've already sorted them and not look through my private documents! So obviously not a place for enterprise security, but for most personal paperwork it's probably fine.
