Well.... I had a two hour layover here in MSP. I remembered I'd been to this sushi place once, I decided to check it out once again! Boy, am I glad I did. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was outstanding. I will always make a visit to shoyu every time I'm in Minneapolis. The restaurant has a cool, relaxed, environment. My ONE complain is that the food is just a little overpriced.... Oh well. Welcome to the airport food scene!

I had 3-4 hours layover in Minneapolis and it's dinner time! As I search around, my fiancée texted me this restaurant. I was like why not. Noodles was my comfort food and it's good for cold time. It has few different ramens, sushi and such. I felt like lighter meals so I opt for mushrooms ramen. A very good choice. Tasty and satisfying. It has 2 different kind of mushrooms and green onions. I like Everything on it. Good portions too. I can't finish it. Now let's talk about service and restaurant itself. They do not have paper menu. You have to use QR code. Not only you have to look the menu there, you also have to order online AND pay it online. The server said well everything is online right? Though I guess nowadays people have smart phones not all have. Then they just won't be able to order here. The restaurant must think those only small percentage. Overall I'm satisfied. My only complaint is only the ordering process. If I ever lay over in this airport again, I won't mind to stop by here again.

Airport dining is usually sub par. Other than ordering and paying by scanning the QR Code, the service was pretty decent. I didn't really care for the ramen that I ordered, it didn't have a lot of flavor but the potstickers were good. Overall I wouldn't scramble to go back but I would have given them 3.5 stars if that was available.

For airport food, not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick service and good sushi for an airport restaurant. I had a three hour layover that I needed to wait out and preferred a place where I could get some work done, charge my devices and get some dinner and this was great for it! Each table had and outlet for each person and simple scan and order system tied to each seat. This made it very convenient so you didn't have to lug your stuff around with food in had to find a place to sit. I was able to get my work in, charging in, and dinner! After ordering, my drink arrived only a couple minutes later, then shortly to follow the food I ordered. I got a dirty martini, miso soup, and a dragon roll. Food was good for what I expected! I enjoyed dining here and would stop by again. The staff was all very friendly and loved the service.

A great option for airport dining because of (1) good service (2) appetizing plating; (3) spacious set up; (4) power outlets at every seat; (5) it is NOT pizza! Recommended: chirashi (basically sashimi on a bed of rice). I am glad they offer miso soup, the only warm option (everything else is cold). I scanned the QR code at the table (each QR code seems to be unique) and pulled up the menu to order on the browser on my phone. My order was delivered in no time and the waiters were very friendly. So nice, considering that most US airports are drab places with grumpy people who work there. Here, the chefs, the waiters, they seem happy to be there! I took plenty of pictures for your reference.

A little spendier than the average fast food places in the airport, but on a cold day when all I want is a warm, nicer meal before a flight this is my favorite stop. The ramen is always filling and I've enjoyed all the sides I've tried (some of the smaller sushi rolls and seaweed salad). For the ramen, seaweed salad, and tip, it was $35 total, which I didn't think was horrible for a sit down meal in the airport. You order and pay on your phone, super easy to add on to your tab throughout your meal.

I feel like I always take a gamble when it comes to eating sushi at an airport, at least the ones in the U.S. I saw a few other places with lower ratings at MSP within walking distance of my gate all the way at the end of all the other "G" gates, and didn't think seeing three stars at an airport is all that bad - in my experience it's close to a win if you find a bite that at least doesn't leave you super disappointed or hungry at an airport. So gamble away we go... The menu set-up is pretty convenient. You scan a barcode at the seat you're at (each table/seat has it's unique barcode so they know where to send your food). Besides sushi, there are other options like noodles and potstickers. I went with the $25 sushi platter, which seems to be a chef's mix of choices. Service felt quick too. For the sushi itself, I normally wouldn't recommend this dish if this wasn't the airport. It was mediocre but I didn't leave feeling sick and it did it's job alright. It met my expectations for average sushi. The worst piece was the chewy octopus, but it's hard for many places to make octopus right anyways. At least the platter came with tuna maki. I wish the rice had a little more vinegar seasoning and leaned a little dry/hard in my opinion, but it's not the worst I've had. Again this place did its job. I actually thought it was an ok experience for the fact that they had a conveniently-placed power outlet right on top of the table, so I was able to get some work done and not leave hungry.

I only got Sake here, but it was delicious and adorable! Service was friendly and quick.

Ok let me be honest.... I do not like airport food (in my mind its as if it's not authentic). After a long day of flying I was really hungry and wanted something to eat. I walked past this place then came back. Joseph ask have I been helped ( not knowing he was the manger ) I said not as yet but had a short window before I had to leave again. He recommended the kimchi and chicken ramen omggggg it was good. You guys know I am all about customer service and good food. I highly recommend giving them a try while flying through MSP.

"I, too, like to live dangerously..." YUP I did it friends: airport sushi. I took the risk and you know WHAT - it paid off big time! I was having the craziest sushi craving as I was walking around on the hunt for dinner during my 4 hour layover in terminal 1. Shoyu appeared and I decided to give it a-go. It looked quiet enough and I was starving so...in I went. I was pleasantly surprised by both the service and the food itself. It is an "order on the iPad" and wait situation, but I was given water and started diving into my work prior to my sushi platter being brought out. There are four outlets per station and MSP has great wifi - a perfect setup for anyone out for business. My sushi was not amazing if going by standard sushi expectations, but AWESOME when going by airport sushi expectations. I sat comfortably for like...three hours and was full all the way up until my flight. I decided against a beverage but it looked like they had a good variety of overpriced wine and cocktail options. All in all, I would totally go back if I ever find myself in the Delta terminal at MSP, and highly recommend if you have an extended layover or wait time.

    Shoyu- get it?

Have been multiple times - previous times food was v good. This time, rice was overcooked a tad resulting in nigiri falling apart. Rice ok seasoning. Wasabi had odd taste. Probably the powder was not well mixed or got mixed w something. Had yuzu I roll that was rolled very loose - again falling apart. However v good ikura and masago that were large and generous. Yes it's pricey but it's an airport and you are a captive audience, so be grateful that Minneapolis St Paul Airport has so many great food choices.

Recently, I started coming for the food dinner and realized I was missing a lot. Their menu is very thoughtful in each dish has a nice variety of textures and flavors. I will say that their Ramen is one of the best in town. I think really what sets it apart is the broth being super in depth and they grill the pork belly which makes it really smoky and tender. This time I branched out and got the grilled squid as well and it was exceptional. The soy ginger glaze on it was incredible. The only few downsides I think I've noticed is service can be a little bit hit or miss which is surprising how small the places. Even when sitting at the bar, it took a little bit to get their attention. Also, I've tried a few of the cocktails and for the main part they just taste like alcohol with a soda. They sound extremely creative on the menu, but the balance isn't there. Either way I've typically gotten sake as they have a nice little selection. Overall, I love the whole vibe of this place. I always enjoy being able to see people make sushi. It's very open yet. Doesn't get overwhelmingly loud. Definitely my top three Japanese spots in Minneapolis.

I am SO torn on this review. Here's the breakdown:…read more Menu: Their menu options are so awesome. Authentic Japanese food, tons of options, and lots of fun stuff. Drinks: The Last Samurai cocktail & the Imposter Among Us mocktail were both delightful. Love the unique drink options, and the two we had were executed beautifully. Sushi: Unfortunately, the sushi was a bit disappointing. We had the hotate yuzu, Suzuki oshizushi, tamago nigiri, and the futomaki. The rice was unfortunately undercooked, and also too lightly seasoned. The tamago was alright, the futomaki was very good though. Dessert: The yuzu custard - one of my favorite desserts I've eaten in a long time. Definitely the best thing we had and I would absolutely get it again. Service: Our service was pretty good. I did watch one of the other servers grab soup spoons by the part you eat from and then bring them to a table which was concerning. Note: For anyone with dietary specifications: they offered gluten free soy sauce, and the custard was a vegan dessert and it was delightful.

There were other great options too! So this would be a solid date spot or meeting with friends so everyone can get something they like. There is a fair amount of seating inside and a fair amount of seating outside on a patio. There really isn't a view for the patio. There are free parking lots across the street though! Service: This is where they lost a star from us. The woman who took our order had no energy, wasn't very friendly and just looked annoyed we were ordering. I had heard good things about the service, so this was a bummer. The food: We got them take out wings and each got the pork ramen. The wings are very good, but best in twin cities? No. Are they worth getting? If you love a crunchy wing, then yes! The ramen had the most flavorful broth!! Oh my goodness it was rich and full of flavor! The noddles were cooked perfectly!
