Kyoto/Kyota(? the name is different on the outside of the restaurant) is a staple in the Twin Cities; it's got a lot of variety & their sushi is fairly reasonably priced (I think around $31 for all you can eat). A couple of friends & I stopped in for dinner on a Friday night; the restaurant itself is a little depressing, with low lights, windows covered in clings, & kind of strange decor. The floor was super slippery & I almost fell, not sure what that was about. We ordered a fairly large amount of food to start with, & it came out as it was ready, which was nice. Each time we ordered, though, we were missing at least one thing we'd ordered; not a huge deal, but it's annoying to not know whether it's still coming (& you may get double), or if they just missed it. The sushi itself was pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but good for the price. In all, I'm sure I'll be back to at least one Kyoto location, but I wouldn't go here expecting the best sushi you've ever had.

Finally stopped in for the all you can eat sushi. $30 was a good price for all you can eat sushi rolls, appetizers, dessert. Drink is xtra. Waitress was very attentive. The rolls were tightly prepared and they were very good. I love the shrimp Tempura and many of the appetizers. I especially like the fried mushrooms & spring rolls. I was too full for dessert. I will be back to try different rolls.

There's a smaller variety of all you can eat sushi for the lunch menu. They don't have any deep fried options for the lunch menu which is a little disappointing. The server was attentive. The area is a quiet intimate setting.

All you can eat sushi? Say less. They have both menu options or the AYCE. If you want to try a lot of things I highly recommend the AYCE. We had a large party but it was split between two servers. There weren't any mistakes made and we had enough room. The only downside had been the bathrooms which had a distinct and off putting smell.

Hits the spot when I'm really hungry but not the best AYCE sushi spot overall. Friendly and fast service but pricey at $31/pp for AYCE. I can't really say if any one dish stands out but we try to get something from each menu section. Large dining space for large groups and plenty of parking.

It's one of my favorite sushi places to go to. Especially when I moved from the west coast. I love coming here on my day off with a friend or two. And splitting sushi with them. They always give you plenty of wasabi and ginger. And if you ask politely they give you an extra bowl so that you can have more soy sauce. I always get the water no ice with my meal. So I can't comment on their drinks. But their sushi is amazing. I absolutely love it. It melts in your mouth. Or crunches. Just like it's supposed to. I've had some of their tempura. And it's super yummy as well! The staffing is on top of things. They don't over crowd you and bug you. Yet they keep an eye out when your plates get empty and need a refill. I keep coming back. And glad they reopened!

I Went in for dinner, it's located in a strip mall. The price is about $26 per person, if you go with an appetite it is worth every bit of it. There menu contains are allot of cook items for those of us that are not a fan of sushi, the Teriyaki and freind Items on the menu were delicious and the food keeps coming. If I had a complaint it would be that the service is slow and less than attentive, that may have been because it was the dinner hour, I'll have to go back at a different time to verify.

Are there plenty of options for non sushi/vegetarian food?

Yes. Plenty of other options. Salad and veggie dishes ate available but check out the menu photos to see what they have.

SOLID. suprisingly my favorite - spicy salmon advocado: isn't my favorite spicy salmon roll I've had. i prefer way more spicy mayo mixed in. this one was very light, but still so fresh tasting. - miso soup: decent. service, etc.: my server was very fast and attentive. only gave 3 stars just because it was pretty mid compared to other sushi i've had.

Not spicy hot - temperature hot. Since there was quite a bit of time between it being prepared and delivered the questionable safety of it meant straight to the garbage. The filet and shrimp orders we received had SIGNIFICANTLY overcooked shrimp (dry, crispy and chewy) and the medium rare filet was cooked well (which was a shame to do to such a nice cut of beef). The fried rice orders we received had burnt chicken in them. I love crisp chicken - when it is breaded and supposed to be crisp - but not when burned and topped onto fried rice. We picked at some of the food a little (not the questionable hot sushi) and finally looked at each other and threw this culinary abortion away in the trash. I contacted uber eats about this and after talking to 3 different customer service reps I finally got one who understood what I was saying. He was sorry that it was all the restaurants fault apparently and that they had nothing to do with it (aside from taking the order, representing the restaurant, collecting money, adding service charges and handling the delivery, lol). The rep suggested apparently that I do a ball chargeback. Maybe this was a bad night for them (Friday), maybe they are new, maybe a lot of things... but this was just horrible. Now the only thing that earns the 1 star where it should have been zero stars - the bubble tea. The bubble tea was wonderful. Maybe just do that and leave the whole "food" thing out of it. And Tokyo... you can thank Uber Eats for this review. They could have credited me back and I wouldn't be this irritated. But really guys, this was bad. Tldr Version: Culinary Abortion, try the Bubble Tea

It was a lot of food! The service was also good (4/5). The hibachi chef did a great job of making it entertaining and fun, and the waitress did a good job of checking in and keeping our drinks filled. The restaurant has a nice ambiance (4.5/5) with a small bridge over a koi pond as you walk in. It is pretty dark inside, which seems to further focus your attention on the hibachi chef.

Our server was aloof and nothing to write home about. The hibachi chef was tending to three tables and we waited until he finished cooking for two tables before coming to ours. What an absolute lackluster experience! Having been to several hibachi style restaurants, this experience was by far the worst. Not only was our chef not engaging whatsoever, the only performative value of the entire cooking experience was putting a flammable on the grill and having the fire go. There were no tricks, no onion volcanoes, no creative knife work or fun. We ordered quite a variety of hibachi...filet mignon, chicken, lobster and scallops. The meat was cooked fine, but the noodles and rice were no bueno. The veggies were good. They provided large vats of yumyum sauce, which should've been a warning. We ordered the sushi love boat and it was good. The sliced lemons soaked into the sashimi and ruined the natural flavor. The ginger had a rancid flavor. One person in my party ordered chicken fried rice as her entree. It literally came out AFTER all of our leftovers had been boxed. Zero apologies or accountability from the staff. Keep in mind, we were there on a cold Wednesday night WITH reservations. I won't return to Shogun and am bummed about that.
