Was looking for a quick sushi fix while in Blaine so happened upon Hajime! Since I didn't see any online ordering options, I called in to place my order and it was a very quick and simple process. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, tuna with cream cheese roll, salmon roll, and a side of spicy mayo. I was able to pick up my order about 10 minutes later, they have very convenient takeout parking close to the door, since the parking lot is super busy with nearby establishments. The place was absolutely buzzing around 6 PM, which seemed like a good thing that it was that busy! The order was packaged, neatly, and the food looked very appealing. Came for lunch and did not pick a roll! I picked out the lunch Chicken Teriyaki Box with a salad . The chicken teriyaki was freshly prepared but not very spicy. Yes, it had nice subtle chicken & teriyaki flavor but it tasted perfect for kids or someone afraid of strong flavors. So I ate my bento box while drilling watching others enjoying their rolls! I ordered takeout on Sunday afternoon. I was told that they do not do Happy Hour menu items as takeout due to staffing. That's fine--I ordered the beef tataki (rare, seared beef, scallion, tobiko, and ponzu) and ikamaru yaki (grilled whole squid). The food was good. I'm glad the squid was sliced. This is one of my favorite places to go for happy hour it's been a Blaine staple for many years. My favorite roll is the sassy roll and the eel and avocado roll. The chicken friend rice is good too . I just recently found out a couple of weeks ago they actually make ramen and have cream cheese wontons. The drinks are good too one of my favorites is the mango martini just the perfect amount of sweet. If you're looking for a stronger martini the hajime geisha is your go to. If you wanna go get all you can eat.. don't go here. This is not a place for all you can eat sushi. The service was good, very helpful and refilling water. The ambiance was alright too, it was a chill vibe, not very loud. The food was good. It could be better. The udon noodle soup was good. Many of the sushi rolls were good. The shumai was delicious, but it is super small. The chicken katsu and tonkatsu were good, they come in big portions. The unagi rice bowl was good, a good amount of eel was put into the bowl, the eel was super soft. Overall, a good place to eat for only a couple of people to try out sushi. I know this isn't like a HUGE grievance... but the sushi preparer full on huge BELCHED while handling food... and it freaked me out a little... pretty sure he was preparing my husband and I's food. This place is located in a strip mall and on a hungry night we stopped here. The place is brightly lit and seemed to be the local watering hole for your average collage kids. It was very loud and lots of chatter but I was mesmerized by the artistry of the chefs. The sushi was very good and tasted fresh. Some of the non raw items were not as expected but we ended up here due to the late hours. You can watch the chefs prepare meals and watch them make it all decorative for a great presentation. All the love for Hajime! Having a few sushi restaurants in the area - this is one of my favorites, specifically for their HH deals. Service is usually pretty good with food coming out fairly quickly. Ling is one of our favorite servers - always so kind and attentive. She remembers every bit of detail (i.e. extra condiments) without even needing to ask. Ambiance is fine - they have plenty of seating but during HH it can get busy. It's located in a strip mall but there are usually parking available. They have a good amount of seating - the lighting is dimmed but nice overall. We often order to go from here - HH works for takeout too! Some of our favorite go tos: - spider roll - shrimp tempura roll or crunchy roll if we're wanting the extra crunch - chicken fried rice (extra sauce - trust me on this) - seafood stir fried udon noodles - sometimes can be soggy but a good dish for the kiddos - spicy kani salad - calamari - pieces are smaller bits, but the sauce they serve with it is really yummy. Went here after a coworker gave me the recommendation. My fiancé and I went during the late night happy hour and everything we ordered was on the happy hour. The service was good and our waiter was very attentive and checked in perfectly. We started with the pork gyoza, sweet potato tempura, and chicken fried rice. They were all good, the tempura batter was so light and perfectly crunchy. I loved it. The pork gyoza's came with a good dipping sauce that had the perfect kick to it. The chicken fried rice was not my favorite. I liked that it comes with yum yum sauce but the rice was sweeter and it's because of the onions they put in it. I didn't care for it but my fiancé loved it. Then we ordered the sweet potato roll, sweet & sassy roll, and spicy crab roll add avocado. We loved all of them! The quality was good and I would definitely go back. Our check was $45, which is so good for all we got. Everytime we go there, there is a guy beind the sushi counter who is constantly and loudly sucking up snot and phlegm through his nose. Last time I finally said I couldn't eat because it was that disgusting and bad. The server tried to tell me that he is sick (like that helps) and he's probably doing that for that reason.
