Was looking for a quick sushi fix while in Blaine so happened upon Hajime! Since I didn't see any online ordering options, I called in to place my order and it was a very quick and simple process. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, tuna with cream cheese roll, salmon roll, and a side of spicy mayo. I was able to pick up my order about 10 minutes later, they have very convenient takeout parking close to the door, since the parking lot is super busy with nearby establishments. The place was absolutely buzzing around 6 PM, which seemed like a good thing that it was that busy! The order was packaged, neatly, and the food looked very appealing. Price was pretty average at about $20 for three rolls. The taste was great, and I would definitely stop again!

Came for lunch and did not pick a roll! I picked out the lunch Chicken Teriyaki Box with a salad . The chicken teriyaki was freshly prepared but not very spicy. Yes, it had nice subtle chicken & teriyaki flavor but it tasted perfect for kids or someone afraid of strong flavors. So I ate my bento box while drilling watching others enjoying their rolls! Next time I will be having a spicy roll!

I ordered takeout on Sunday afternoon. I was told that they do not do Happy Hour menu items as takeout due to staffing. That's fine--I ordered the beef tataki (rare, seared beef, scallion, tobiko, and ponzu) and ikamaru yaki (grilled whole squid). The food was good. I'm glad the squid was sliced. The staff was friendly. I'd come back to try more food.

First off, the parking and location are great! Service was quick and friendly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite hit the mark for me. Everything we tried was decent, just not memorable. The only standout was the fried rice--I'd definitely order that again. Overall, there are better sushi spots around the city in my opinion.

The service was great. That was about it, I use to really enjoy coming here. Unfortunately the lack of cleanliness ruined my appetite! We walked in for lunch and there was a nasty smell. I'm not sure where the smell was coming from however you can clearly see by the photo that they have NEVER dust! It was so thick that I really don't know how it hasn't been addressed by anyone!

I'm somewhat of a sushi connoisseur and I always find my self leaving this place saying to myself "this is the best sushi spot on MN". It always consistent and their happy hour is awesome prices. They also have the best fried rice that is similar to Benihana's.

Sushi tray of crazy roll, no.9, green arrow, tattoo roll and some sashimi.

If you wanna go get all you can eat.. don't go here. This is not a place for all you can eat sushi. The service was good, very helpful and refilling water. The ambiance was alright too, it was a chill vibe, not very loud. The food was good. It could be better. The udon noodle soup was good. Many of the sushi rolls were good. The shumai was delicious, but it is super small. The chicken katsu and tonkatsu were good, they come in big portions. The unagi rice bowl was good, a good amount of eel was put into the bowl, the eel was super soft. Overall, a good place to eat for only a couple of people to try out sushi. For big family, go to an all you can eat. You'll spend about the same.

This place is busy and loved for a reason, great sushi at a great price and great staff!

Lychee Martini! Perfection

I everything about Hajime is AMAZING!! My husband and two teens LOVE the sweet and sassy roll. Handrolls, rice, edamame are so delicious! And the cocktails be overflowing! Staff are all wonderful. Jenny is a super star.

4 stars! This was my first time at the Blaine restaurant. Our experience was just as good if not better than the Elk River location. The food was good, the service was great, and the restaurant itself is nice & modern looking. I feel the prices are reasonable too. I ordered miso soup and 4 types of tuna based sushi rolls. Everything was great and on-point. My buddy ordered a couple of appetizer type items. He really enjoyed his food too. We topped it all off with 3 flavors of mochi ice cream. Yum! I'd go back again any time. Thanks for another nice experience, Hajime! -Maxx

This place is located in a strip mall and on a hungry night we stopped here. The place is brightly lit and seemed to be the local watering hole for your average collage kids. It was very loud and lots of chatter but I was mesmerized by the artistry of the chefs. The sushi was very good and tasted fresh. Some of the non raw items were not as expected but we ended up here due to the late hours. You can watch the chefs prepare meals and watch them make it all decorative for a great presentation. I was happy with the food. The menu was very large and the happy hour was great. We had lots of food and a desert for under 40 bucks per person.

Great, fresh sushi. We loved the quality of the food. Only complaint is there is no outside dining and the restaurant is a bit dark.

The restaurant was understaffed - the bartender was not only running the bar but also serving the entire dining area. We sat at the bar and waited about 10 minutes before being greeted. We also overheard a nearby table voice frustration about the slow service. We're pretty patient, so it wasn't the end of the world, but it was noticeably slow. That said, once we were helped, our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered a Spicy Margarita and my husband went with an Old Fashioned. My margarita was on the weaker side; not bad, just forgettable. My husband enjoyed his Old Fashioned. For food, we tried the Bang Bang Shrimp, Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and the Crab-Stuffed Portabella. The standout was definitely the Bang Bang Shrimp; we both really liked it. The lettuce wraps and stuffed mushroom were fine, just not dishes we'd return specifically for. The overall vibe was calm and low-key, and the staff was kind despite being stretched thin. I'm glad we gave it a try, but it's probably not a place we'll be rushing back to.

You sit at a table and order off your phone, and servers will bring your food and drinks out to you. Had no problem with that, it was a fairly easy process. Our servers were kind and I believe we talked to the owner for a bit who was attentive to all the tables! The food is the disappointing piece. I had the chicken rojo avocado tacos and they really lacked flavor. There was plenty of chicken in such a small tortilla, which made the taco fall apart as you ate. My sister ordered the pesto Mac and cheese with chicken and it was okay, but the chicken was not good. I didn't try the tenderloin bowl, but it seemed to have better reviews than my meal or my sisters from my family. I don't make my way out to Blaine often enough to try again, but I think this would be a better spot for pizzas and milkshakes.

Disappointing experience overall…read more While the hibachi food itself was decent (we ordered filet, scallops, shrimp, sirloin and chicken) the service and overall dining experience left a lot to be desired. One waiter was responsible for nearly all the tables in the hibachi area, each seating eight people, making even the simplest requests - like a drink refill - nearly impossible. It was clear their main goal was to turn tables over as quickly as possible, rather than provide attentive service. We were celebrating my niece's 3rd birthday, and to their credit, they did a nice job acknowledging it. However, the restaurant felt very money-driven. If you're considering using a Groupon, *read the fine print carefully* - they refused to honor ours because it wasn't purchased 24 hours in advance, which felt unnecessarily petty. On top of that, a mandatory 17%+ service charge was added to the bill, despite the service not coming close to justifying it. A final concern: food safety. I noticed the chef using the same spatula to handle both raw steak/seafood and cooked noodles without cleaning it in between, which is a big red flag. Overall, it wasn't worth the hassle. There are better hibachi options out there. Oh, the owner/manager's strategy to have us return to use the Groupon didn't work, we requested our money back. Sorry not sorry.
