Great happy hour! Wide variety, you don't have to just have sushi here. Amazing sushi!

This is my go-to sushi restaurant in Blaine (Despite my lower rating). Some of their rolls are good, but at times fish freshness can be inconsistent. I do recall one visit where I was pressured about my reservation because the other part of my group had not arrived. So they bluntly said if they were not here I would have to give up my reservation... Even though it was 5 minutes prior to my reservation time. read more

LOVE this place! Great service, fun atmosphere and ambience, and amazing sushi! My 7 year old is incredibly picky and actually loves this food. When we arrived, we received a little salad of crab, cucumber, tempura, unagi sauce, and tobiko. I loved this and haven't had it anywhere else! The rolls are really delicious - I had the Sweet & Sassy Roll and the Angel Roll and both were fantastic. Can't wait to come back! Update: my new happy hour destination. Great all day happy hour on sundays!! The happy hour menu is vast and has specialty rolls, drinks, non sushi items and more. Great food and one of the best gin martinis in the twin cities area. Love the sushi and sashimi. They make a wonderful tuna avocado salad for lunch. Try sitting at the sushi bar for a fun and delicious experience. Service is always warm and friendly and reasonably fast. Ambience could use some polishing. Has kind of a cafeteria feel. It's rare I find Yelp so wrong about a place with more than 100 reviews, but here I was totally not impressed. I travel for work and have been in Minneapolis for 3 weeks and was craving some solid sushi. This came up #1 so I came in for happy hour. And. Here. We. Go. Décor - B. nice little place with nice décor and ambiance. Well lit, etc. Food - D+. I ordered 3 rolls (a Y.T. Jalepeno, a Kiss of fire Roll, and a Rainbow roll). They started me with an awesome salad. Cucumber, crab, and some diced shrimp. It was very good and the best part of the meal. Rolls are tiny (like 1" wide) and very sloppily put together with mostly filler. The fish in and on them are even tinier (like 1/4" thick). These look like rolls at an all you can eat sushi buffet. I have seen better prepared rolls at Whole Foods. What's worse is the fish wasn't all that fresh. Not fishy, but not tender or decent quality. The Y.T. roll had 4 slices of jalapeno to 1 1/4" thick piece of yellow tail and the roll was only 6 pieces. Service - F. This shocked me more than the size of the rolls. Maybe it was because it was happy hour, but this place failed at the most basic service requirements when it wasn't that busy. My salad plate? Never bussed. I got a 2.50 Ichiban draft that was 12 oz and was gone before I was halfway through my rolls. Did I get another one? Was never asked. I sat at the sushi bar so the chef handed me my meal. The waitress took my order and was never to be seen or heard from again until she brought me my check. Check if my food was ok? Nope. See if I wanted anything else before happy hour ended? Nope. This wouldn't be acceptable at Applebee's let alone a place you expect to pay $30-50/plate. Maybe all these good reviews come from to-go orders. Price - C-. It avoids an F because it was happy hour. Not bad because the rolls were $3 off. But considering the size and quality that is what these rolls should be price at anyways. All in all it was less than a good experience and I would keep searching for something with less homer/paid for reviews if I were you. read more

This restaurant is in the regular rotation of places I eat in Blaine. It is a great place for sushi and the staff are so nice. Recently I accidentally forgot to request my order to be gluten free and when I went to go pick it up they remade a roll for me. Absolutely love this place, great sushi and good prices plus fantastic service not to mention there happy hour deals. If you don't feel like driving downtown for sushi this place always hits the spot. We love going for "sushi Sundays" as a family, they have all day happy hour, many of there rolls and appetizers are on discount during it, not to mention there rail drinks and domestic pints. Update! And upgrade! I hauled it back to Hajime after receiving coupons in the mail (yes, I'm a coupon-clipping fiend) - $5 off $25 and $10 off $50. I used the former for lunch, and ordered a miso soup, Mango White Tuna appetizer, and No. 9 roll. If you haven't ordered the Mango White Tuna app then you're a dumdum. Just kidding. But seriously give this a shot, especially on a warm day. It's got buttery white tuna sashimi, citrusy orange, sweet lychee, tart mango, and creamy avocado. The No. 9 roll was great, and the shrimp tempura inside was nice and crispy but not too greasy. I didn't have anything with the spicy tuna in it this time, so I'm curious if that's improved. The server was friendly and prompt. The prices are reasonable but I would totally suggest coming in when they have specials, Happy Hour, or coupons. Service here is always great, they're always there whenever you need them for whatever you need. I haven't really tried anything else besides the sushi, but sushi here is good! The fish always tastes fresh. Rolls are nicely rolled and not over-powered with rice. This place is open late and it's got a late night bar-theme going on. It's kind of a smaller restaurant, it's got a bar and a sushi bar as well. Happy hour after 9 is the best time to come in, they have drink specials, sushi specials, and some other specials. They also have great lunch specials, i'd tell you all about it, but I really don't remember from the last time i've had lunch here. From remembering orders for continuing customers , to helping box up meals for me ( whom has a tremor ). This is a great place for sushi when you're not tryna bust your wallet. Service is good. They always have my food ready on time, and make it well. They never skimp out on giving you enough ginger/wasabi/soy sauce. It's something small to note but I appreciate it. Most importantly, It's good quality, good food, and good value. I've never tried the kitchen items besides the takoyaki (which is great, but lacking in squid) but I can absolutely vouch for their classic rolls, which are great. They have very reasonable happy hour prices, make sure to check that out. I go here very often, as I live really close by and love sushi. Should you go out of you way for this place? Probably not. When I go to a new sushi restaurant, it is always best to try to sushi counter first. So you can see if the sushi chef is 18 yo who has no idea what he is doing or an experienced chef. Perfect place to get great Happy Hour deals! Drinks - The best part about happy hour here is that all tap beers are only $2.50! Best deal in the area when it comes to happy hour, not to mention theirs runs ALL DAY on Sundays! Food - Large variety of rolls, if you want a good kick when it comes to heat, the yellowtail jalapeno roll is not shy of jalapenos. The only issue I have with the food here is that I can no longer trust their staff with the menu. I ordered Toro and have had it at many restaurants, so I know what it looks like and tastes like. When I ordered the Toro here I was given instead regular Tuna. There is a HUGE difference in the look, texture and taste of the two and to be given the wrong cut of fish when I am paying more for Toro and not the cheaper price for regular Tuna upsets me. I will be sticking to the cheaper side of the menu moving forward as I don't appreciate being taken advantage of. Service - I have never had bad service here, even during the busy rushes. Food comes out quick, drinks are refilled once they are empty. Overall - Its a great place to eat if you love sushi and especially if you stop in for happy hour as you will get the cheaper version of the menu. If you are coming here to eat more high end sushi, don't. It is not worth spending the money to get something that they don't even serve. read more

The interior is nice for the location - not quite at the level of place in the city but above the local places in the area. The sushi is all decent - I think I am a bit jaded to American sushi after eating in Japan so this might be more like a 4 to others. 3 is good/par and they were pretty much in there. I had 4 of the main rolls (mango / mango spicy shrimp / crunchy roll / fire alarm? rolls). Mochi tri-color dessert was pretty good as well - something - flowery - about the flavor.
