The night I'd come with a friend it was incredibly busy. We were both very tired from a day of errands and eager to eat and get back to our room for some sleep. Thankfully the service was incredible, swift as ever, the food came out hot, delicious, and we were on our way in 45 minutes. Regardless of the very busy restaurant they were still getting good food out rather quickly, and the staff was doing a great job keeping up with the flow. The portion sizes were also surprisingly small for what they charge. The miso soup had a really funky taste that didn't seem right. The fried rice tasted burnt, which made it hard to enjoy. The Sashimi Spring (12) was extremely fishy, and had us at risk of getting food poisoning. Flower design was beautiful and Salmon was at least slightly fresh. But the Tuna and Yellowtail smelt insanely fishy and tasted just as fishy. Delivery time wasn't bad but was too long to only be able to eat a third of our Sashimi. Good sushi and average service. One of the most irritating thing about being in a restaurant when it is busy, is seeing staff standing around eating candy, talking, and trying to "appear" busy when the servers are running ragged. Another issue I had at my last visit in New Years Eve, the expediters assisting the server were borderline rude, almost dropping the dishes in our table and walking away with no communication at all. When you thank someone for bringing your food and they can't even manage a smile, nod, or a "you're welcome", there is an issue and they have no business being on the floor in that capacity. read more

Couldn't get anything into ny mouth and when I did I ended up having to mash it down with my tongue before being able to chew. Almost choked a few times. Beyond that, everything was flavorless. Unfortunately, I have to knock these guys down a star - 3 stars. It's been 6 years since I've been to Kyoto. In fact, I was the first person to review them after the grand opening. I just went back again and I dragged along my elderly mother since she likes fish. 1. First, the food...specifically the rolls...things weren't as great as I hoped. I noticed it was really hard to find any rolls that had tuna where you can ACTUALLY SEE the chunks of flesh. Despite trying to avoid mystery ingredients, the 4 tuna rolls I picked all had mushy tuna salad type material inside. I'm super suspicious of this. Is this some sort of sneaky money saving recipe? Are they trying to obscure how much real tuna is really inside? I have no idea what ingredients are in this recipe of mash other than (supposedly) tuna. And my server couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me what's inside. The taste was okay but I highly suspect they contain cheap, not so healthy ingredients like highly processed factory seed oils such as canola or soy. Whatever it was, I didn't feel very well after eating and I felt like crap the rest of the evening. Same with mom. Oh, well. Live and learn. If I'm not sure what's inside, perhaps I shouldn't put it in my mouth. 2. Second, our server was - technically - good. But our young server was a sort of a passive aggressive, borderline smart ass, know-it-all type dude that I found highly irritating. He was borderline...enough to feel the negativity of the interaction but not blatant enough walk out or to call for management. I'm sure you know what I mean. I asked him about some of the rolls I ordered but when they arrived, he was completely wrong about what I ordered. Plus, he couldn't tell me much about the ingredients. Kinda lame. I ate them and I left him a nice tip and I didn't bitch...until now in my review. 3. Third, the prices are still very reasonable, despite the ongoing inflation. My mother ordered off the regular menu. I opted for the buffet menu because I saved around 10 bucks for 4 kinds of rolls. Of course, it would have been a better deal if I ordered more food. But my stomach couldn't take it. My original order of 4 rolls were all I could tolerate. So I guess I won't be going back. I don't wish Kyoto any ill will but they aren't for me. -Maxx read more

First, I've recently moved here from Charlotte, NC. And I was spoiled by a place called Mr Tokyo which was also a AYCE sushi and at a slightly lower cost. And much better. First disappointment was they never responded to a message I sent 3-4 days ago. Service started very poorly as I sat and just waited for someone to wait on me. Service did improve greatly as they got busier. I was hoping for the dinner menu being a Sunday but not before 3 or 4. They do offer a nice selection. But to just be honest nothing was very special. Everything was just OK. Kyoto was much better then another AYCE sushi place I tried earlier. But being such a distance from where I live it's just not worth the drive so unless I'm near the area for some reason returning just isn't in the cards. I really had my hopes up. Very good sushi!! I. Ame here around 1:30pm so post lunch rush. There was immediate seating. The environment was quite enough that you can have a casual conversation without yelling to each other. This is all you can eat, however you will be charged extra for food waste. I recommend the Spicy Tuna Rolls, Sexy Girl Roll, Boston Roll and the Dynamite Rolls.. I tried the Red Bean ice cream as I've never had it before. It was delicious reminded me of a cherry nut ice cream. I will definitely come back to this place. read more

The food was Really Good, but I have to comment on the sporadic nature of the food delivery (we were paying 25.00 per person on an All-You-Can-Eat lunch deal). I had ordered the Shrimp Donburi on the first order. We were there over an hour. It hadn't showed up as we were winding down so I decided that they had lost the order and ate the rest of my wife's unfinished fried rice. We had asked the waitress for our check and then, all of the sudden, Shrimp Donburi showed up. I asked if I could just take it home and was told that I would need to pay an extra 7.00 charge to do so. To be fair, the menu stated this in block oversized letters but it was an obvious bother to all concerned. But I had come there for that specific dish which I had read about on Tasteatlas, so I paid. The gratuity was also mandatory which was good for the restaurant since at that point I'd have only given 10% as a tip. My son-in-law didn't get all of his order also until the very end. My daughter was embarassesd as she had eaten there previously and had been so ecstatic over the place that she talked all of us into going there. In summary: Kyoto Sushi has Really Great Food but you might pay more than you were expecting. By the way, I did enjoy the Shrimp Donburi, but not enough to put up with this nonsense again. read more

When my mother in law told us we were going to and all you can eat. Sushi restaurant to celebrate several family members birthday say I was less than enthused would be an understatement. I've tried sushi before at several buffets and while I didn't hate it. I wasn't overly a fan of it either. We got to the restaurant and stood there and I said watched plate after plate of sushi being served to other people. I asked my wife "Do you think they have real food here too?" After getting seated and finding out that they did indeed have fried rice and several other cooked dishes. I felt a little better. I decided to try a couple different kinds of sushi just to see what it was like at a restaurant that was actually trained trained to make it as opposed. To the stuff I had tried at the buffet and i'm really glad I did. Now while it will be a while before I find myself being a die hard sushi fan. I did try several rolls that were very delicious. I want to commend Kyoto, it's staff and chefs, For proving this burger and fries loving guy wrong. Love the all you can eat sushi, everything I've tried tasted amazing. The service is really fast and the whole vibe is amazing.

We ordered our food from Uber eats to enjoy at home. It came with all the necessary items to eat it, including utensils (both fork and chopstick), napkins, and all the sauces needed! It arrived super fast! We got the snow mountain rolls, spider rolls, eel (unagi), Cali rolls (because sometimes the basic food is the best!) and seafood ramen! I ordered all this to share with my bestie who is pregnant! So we asked for no roe on everything and they did such an AMAZING job of doing that for us! The rolls were pretty good, the best being the snow mountain roll and eel (unagi) in my opinion! Overall, all of the rolls were pretty good. The spider roll batter seemed to taste a bit off to us. The seafood ramen was not flavorful at all. I would not suggest getting it, it seemed to be fairly bland for having so much stuff in it. This was a huge bummer. Walking in, the beautiful restaurant was very lively and smelled amazing. I had only ever had sushi once in my life before going here, so I was excited to try it in a restaurant that specializes in the food. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! I got the all-you-can-eat-sushi deal and started off with some miso soup (which, like the sushi, I'd only had one other time in my life) and I loved it! All of the various sushi rolls that I tried were delicious, which my favorite being the rainbow rolls. I also tried some actual sushi (not in a roll) and I wasn't the biggest fan, though that wasn't very surprising to me as this was the second time I'd ever had sushi. The fried scallops were delicious, topped with a savory, slightly-spicy sauce. I finished off my meal by trying both the red bean and the green tea ice cream, which I liked very much. Overall, the food was incredible and I definitely plan on returning! I would recommend Kyoto Sushi to anyone that is looking to try out sushi, as this place offers many different types. If you are afraid of raw sushi, don't fret! the restaurant offers both raw and cooked fish in its sushi.
