10/10! I have only gotten their seafood plate, Teriyaki Chicken and the Bears Roll sushi. I LOVE the bears roll so much. It's so yummy!! Highly recommend trying! The Teriyaki Chicken is only really super good if you ask for it extra crispy. The restaurant itself is super cozy with dark lighting and super comfy booths or a section with normal tables and chairs on the other side of the restaurant. Get the sushi, not the Thai food. It's a fusion restaurant and we were disappointed by the pad thai and fried rice. Sushi could have been plated a bit better but tastes pretty solid. If you order the Chef specialty sushi, it's more worth it. It's a bigger portion and could have just ordered 2 rolls instead of 4 cause it was a lot. Not an all you can eat but can pack your leftovers home. Not a bad place but needs a bit improvement. Favorite roll that I liked was the "White ex roll" with the bonito flakes on the top. read more

Celebrated my birthday with a sushi lunch, and our servers were darling little girls (I love family businesses) learning the ropes, and they all surprised me with a piece of cake and a Happy Birthday serenade. Joy Kitchen was about exactly what you'd expect in an average Asian joint. Nothing exceptional, but will likely help you get your fix of Asian flavors should you be in the mood. We tried two sushi rolls - one not so good, and the other reasonably good (Minnesota Roll). The Massaman curry was extremely bland, which was a major disappointment. Still great - 4 stars! It's been a while, a full 5 years since I've been to Joy Kitchen. But I just went back to get an emergency sushi craving fix. I ordered 4 styles of tuna based sushi rolls. All 4 of them were bursting with wonderful flavors. They ingredients are obviously nice & fresh, including ample portions of beautiful dark red tuna. LOW CARBOHYDRATE: It's pretty easy to eat low carbohydrate, keto style at Joy Kitchen, especially if you stick to the sushi options. I avoid the noodles, large rice portions, deep fried stuff (they use soybean oil), and any sauce that probably contains sugar and vegetable seed oils. Came in to get sushi and an order of chicken pad thai. It was a Monday night and not that busy inside. The guy told us to sit wherever we wanted. It took him a while to bring us our menus. I put our sushi order in right away because we were hungry. Then he took our order around 5 minutes later for the pad thai. We waited and waited for the sushi...it was around 20 minutes and no sushi yet. I went up to the server and asked when it was coming? He said soon. Finally it came and then we waited around another 10 more minutes for the pad thai. He never refilled our waters or grabbed the dirty plates! When our pad thai finally arrived at the table it had a weird smell to it. My husband and I both didn't like the taste and it wasn't very hot! So, when the guy finally came back to ask how it was...we told him it wasn't what we thought it would be...he said that it's a hit or miss with a lot of people. So, now we just want to leave. He asked, did you want something else? We said Chicken Lo Mein since he told us it would be on the house. We asked for it to go. It came up quicker than the other food. Here's the kicker...he still charged us for the Lo Mein when he specifically told us it would be free! I even confronted him on what he had told us...but, he still charged us after this whole big mess...we won't be going back . . . Too bad because we live so close to this place and like to support our local businesses. JOY KITCHEN.... you need to get more trained servers for the inside dining customers, instead of worrying about all the takeout orders...get a new system going! Buh-bye read more

Visited to pick up food for lunch with a friend. They have no fine in due to the pandemic but they have menus inside that you can look at before ordering. I ordered the chicken and broccoli and we got a side of wontons. I have a cashew allergy so they took extra care to make sure my food wasn't cross contaminated. The food was delicious, the sauce was very nice and the wontons were divine. I'd definitely order from here again. read more

Chicken wings: appearance wise, these look like very tasty and plump wings, but they were rubbery and flavorless. Part of the crispy, tempora was falling off and not on certain places of the wing. On the plus side, they did offer a ton of wings. Rating: 1/5 Sushi: we ordered an assortment of sushi and I honestly don't remember what we ordered. I ordered four specialty rolls and they were OK but not fantastic. Would I order these again? Probably not, but I could see myself ordering different ones. Ordered pickup from Joy Kitchen - food was ready in 20 mins. Interior was much nicer than I expected as I have driven by Joy Kitchen for years but never tried it. Their cream cheese wontons were the best part of the meal. The Kung Pao Chicken and Massaman Curry were good but nothing spectacular. I felt they went overboard on the veggies, and the lack of the meat in the entrees is the reason for the three star rating. I'd definitely give them another shot, especially to see the value/quality of the lunch specials. read more

This is our go-to for ordering out when we are lazy and not wanting to cook! We only stick to the basics (orange chicken, chicken fried rice, wontons, general tso's chicken). We don't order sushi or anything fancy (my husband tried sushi here & it's nothing to brag about)... The chicken is always super awesome and flavorful, no weird pieces. Cream cheese wontons are super delicious. However, the fried rice is mediocre. It's more on the dry side & not very flavorful. Lastly, they serve large portions for great price. Utterly disgusting Tried this place out because we thought we'd support a local business and hopefully have something better than your basic Asian fast food place. We were wrong! Drive to Brooklyn Park and get Panda Express. It'll save you money. Staff is sweet and nice but the food is dog poop. Ordered "orange flavor chicken", beef and broccoli, salmon, tuna and tempura sushi rolls. Chicken was okay. Beef and broccoli tasted like dog food. Don't get me started on the mush they call sushi. The food is OK but they started shrinking the size of each order but charging the same. A take out serving of Gen Tso's or Kung Pao is now HALF of what you used to get. Now the tray is half RICE instead of a full tray of what you ordered. You get home and realize you were jipped. Check your take out before you pay for it. The young gal they left as a cook here exploded with resentment 3 feet away from me across the airy barrier which isn't a wall that my asking for no mushrooms was a special order, God forbid. She microwaved the same stuff everyone else gets. I got 7 mushrooms. They didn't ask first if that was okay. I never heard of an Asian restaurant refusing such a simple direction or being run by someone who feels entitled to explode if asked to do something besides microwaving pre-made things. She also made a lot of noise on the other side of what amounts to an empty bookcase. The music they played was modern girl rock which also made me very uncomfortable. The sushi is reasonably priced with chef special rolls ranging from $13-$15. Typical sushi rolls are very affordable, I would compare the price to average happy hour prices. *recommend: ordering from their lunch special, you can pick 2 rolls for $8 or 3 rolls for $11 and it includes soup or salad. Overall a decent convenient sushi restaurant that is minutes away from home. My only complaint is the lack of spoken English from the hostess. For a Japanese restaurant, they offer Thai food which actually tasted pretty good. We ordered the pad Thai, had the right appearance and correct flavors. Would come back and try the other Thai items. On the other hand, the Chinese selections were just ok. Nothing special and not the greatest. I would advise not to try the chinese items as we got the dinner combo and it didn't do it for me. Sushi items were good. We ordered the speciality rolls and it was very delicious. Can't remember which one but it had the jalapeños in them. We also had few common sushi rolls, not bad. The crab wonton's had a lot of grease inside and weren't great but we ate them, and there house special fried rice didn't have a ton of flavor but it was alright. Not the best Japanese restaurant around but it was alright, we wouldn't order there sushi again but would probably get the fried rice or lo main. Ended up here for dinner with my daughter the other night. I'm not from the area, but I had trusty Yelp to lead me to greatness. First impression was the staff seemed a little frazzled, but I guess it was a little busy, so that was fine. Once we sat down, and got our drinks, it took a whiiiiile for our server to come back. I ended up having to flag her down to order food, which happens. The four stars is not for the service, which wasn't horribly awful, but I overheard my server telling someone it was her first serving job, and it definitely showed. The four stars is instead for the food. They had a good deal $20 for 2 entrees and an appetizer. My date was a 4 year old, so that mean 2 entrees for me, and an app for her (kidding) Both entrees had a good amount of flavor, the general Tso's chicken even more than the pad Thai. The portions were also huge. We both ate to our heart's desire, and had two PACKED boxes to take home. The appetizer came .1 second before the entrees did, so timing wasn't fabulous, but not enough to be disgruntled about. The food also came out fast, which was nice. I wanted to like this place so much being that there aren't very many sushi places in this area. However, I was extremely disappointed. Service was awful. The waitress seemed disinterested in her job and wasn't very forthcoming regarding specials and menu items. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she was new but besides her lack of knowledge; her attentiveness was lacking as well. (Note, I read a review that stated how great the hamachi kama was at this place, and the waitress told us they didn't serve it.) We were extremely hungry so decided to order quite the selection of items from their sushi menu as well as from their Chinese menu. We ordered the squid salad and their kani salad which were mediocre in my opinion. We ordered 3 different types of sushi. 1 tempura option and two fish options from the special roll section. Although the sushi was nicely prepared, it was obvious that the over usage of spicy mayo sauce and eel sauce was to cover up the fact that their fish options were just not that fresh or good. The sushi prices were consistent with other sushi restaurants but the flavors were not at all in comparison. I recommend stepping up their service as well as improving on some of their products in their sushi. Until then, I would not be coming back. read more
