I went here tonight with my daughter and the food was excellent. We have the crab cheese wontons. They were hot and fresh. There was the right balance of sweet and crab. The sauce was also really good and not overly sweet. We had the Andover roll that is a specialty roll that had more than one kind of tuna, avocado and eel. It was very fresh and packed with tons of flavor. We also had an anger that was called dragon and Phoenix. It was a shrimp and vegetable on one side and general toas on the other. It was two very different flavors on one plate but I loved being able to try two entrees at once. Our waitress was fantastic and although it wasn't busy when we got there it was when we left especially for a Monday night. I will be back. read more

Wanted to really like this place. North West burbs could have used a decent Japanese sushi bar. The concept is Chinese restaurant that also has basic Thai dishes, and a basic sushi menu with a page of specialty rolls. Ordered the Red Curry chicken, salmon, Scallop, and hamachi nigiri, salmon avocado roll, salmon skin roll, negihama roll, and a bears roll. Curry was really good. I would rate it among some of the better Thai curries I have had. The nigiri was good. Fish quality was there. Negihama tasted a little fishy, but not a deal breaker. Salmon skin was Uramaki style which was fine, but I prefer a futomaki style. Salmon skin was a little more charred then a like, borderline burnt. My wife always gets the salmon avocado roll with the nori on the outside at many other sushi bars. More seasoned sushi Chefs know to use 1 and a half sheets to fit everything inside, but the server had to come back and explain to us that it wasn't possible. Instead of arguing we just agreed to have it the way the chef was able to make it. The bear roll was a specialty roll with softshell crab. It didn't label any sauce on the menu, but came with eel sauce and a curry sauce. The curry sauce was not my favorite. If I saw it labeled in the menu I would have ordered something different. The menu also has some simple spelling mistakes, again not a deal breaker. Overall the experience was around a 4 star, but I reduced it to a 3 because of some items I expected a Japanese restaurant to have that were not available. They just recently obtained their liquor license, but did not have any alcohol in stock, so no sake or sapparro with my sushi. They do not have hamachi kama on the menu nor able to make it. They do not offer any type of dessert. Really wanted a green tea or red bean Icecream. The sushi bar doesn't have seating infront of the Chefs. This place has a lot of potential. If they are able to iron out a few wrinkles there is no reason for a 5 star during my next visit, which will happen. I'm rooting for this place and look forward to checking it out again. read more

I try to not to give bad reviews and this poor review is based on service. The food was exceptional. We got a California roll that was good. Nothing mind blowing. We then got sesame chicken and Szechwan chicken. Both were delicious and flavorful. The portions are large enough to feed 2 with leftovers. We also orders a side of steamed broccoli. She informed us that it would be an additional $1. Which was fine. We got our food and no broccoli side. I would have informed our server but she never returned until she dropped of the check. When I went to pay I told them we didn't get the broccoli they at first apologized. Then a cook said it was there. I didn't feel like arguing over a dollar. Again the food was delicious. Ordered food to go at the hostess stand and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. There are coupons in the mail so I recommend looking for those, we had one for 10% off an order. The food was really good. We split a few things. Shrimp pad Thai was excellent with a good sized portion of shrimp. The lobster role was fantastic with an excellent sauce. Very smooth with avocado nestled inside. Finally I had the cubs roll which was salmon and tuna sushi and really good The only thing preventing this from 5 stars is the staff seems really green and our entrees came out in shifts with some major time gaps between. I took my daughter to lunch here today to check it out, as it is new to the area. We were not disappointed. We orders four sushi rolls (buy 3, get 1 free), nice deal. The food was priced well and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered the salmon roll, California roll, dragon roll and a shrimp tempura roll (the actual name escapes me, but sushi lovers will know what that is). It's nice to have a good sushi place that won't kill you on price in the hood. It's not the best sushi I ever had, but it's very solid! As far as legitimate Asian cuisine goes the suburbs typically are not the places to frequent. My wife is from China, and we frequent back and forth that said Asian food is a large part of our diet. My wife happened to order from here, and when we got home and opened the bag her eyes widened. While it's not 100% authentic, it is really great food. I do think for the subarbanites who are picky, or not as culturally diverse that this is a great choice as the flavors are not too complex, but just enough warmth, grease, and crunchy veggies to make it feel like home no matter where you are from. Also during these uncertain times the owner/management have taken the pandemic very seriously.. the entire restaurant is/was polyed off and masks were utilized very much before it was "the thing to do" it may appear to be just another small take out place, but you have my word that it is more special than that. read more

This is the best Asian restaurant anywhere near Andover. We sat in a nicely decorated room. We started with half price beer and crab cream cheese wontons. The wontons weren't frozen, they were crisp and fresh. Not enough meat, but the red sauce was good. I ordered the beef and broccoli, he ordered the orange chicken. Veggies were fresh with a slight crisp. Beef was a lean, but tender, cut. The orange chicken tasted freshly battered. We each had a pork egg roll that was yummy. Crispy, not soggy. Usually ok place for a bite... the scallop appetizer had absolutely no scallops but TONS of red onions chopped up and I could taste nothing but onions. I tried to find the scallops. I literally picked apart the dish with my fork... I asked my waitress if the cook accidentally left out the scallops but she just smiled and nodded her head...really disappointed because the dish wasn't cheap, especially because I could not find anything that could resemble a scallop or even a chopped up scallop, like maybe that little teensy white thing could possibly be a piece of seafood? Maybe? Only a very powerful RAW onion taste that followed me home and way into the night. ICK. ICK. If an eatery has a scallop dish on the menu, you should see a scallop. I was so excited to see that Andover was getting a sushi restaurant! I really wanted to like this place (even giving them a second try), but it just didn't do it for me. The first time I dined in for lunch. I ordered the lunch special of any 3 rolls for $11. My son ordered the lunch special of shrimp lo mein. I tried his lo mein and the fried rice. To be honest it was a little bland. The lunch special sushi rolls that I ordered were small in comparison to sushi rolls off the regular menu that aren't on lunch special. My rolls came out much later than my son's meal. I sat there watching my son eat for almost 15 minutes. When my rolls came out they were put together pretty sloppy and already falling apart before I can start eating them. During this time 3 separate wait staff came to check on us so I was never really sure who was our waiter/ waitress. Also our first waitress couldn't answer basic menu questions. I had to ask for water and utensils since there wasn't any given to us. Water glasses and utensils are basic and you shouldn't have to track someone down to get these things. I decided that since they are a new restaurant, I'd give them another chance to work out the kinks. The second time I decided to take my order to go. Once again my specialty sushi rolls were made sloppy. The eel on top of my rolls was so overcooked that it was like trying to chew on beef jerky. The rest of the rolls, although sloppy looking, tasted okay, but again, nothing to really brag about. The shrimp tempura appetizer was really good though. Not sure I will give them another try. This place has really tasty sushi at a really affordable price. They also have your standard orange chicken and lo mein and such so you can bring kids or picky eaters. The house fried rice is amazing and flavorful. The bad part... the soy paper. The soy paper is flimsy and breaks extremely easy which makes a catastrophic sushi mess. All 4 people at the table ordered a mixed drink, waitress wrote down our order, when drinks where brought out they where just sodas. We asked about it and it was not until then that they told us they only have beer wine, this was after a confusing conversation cause they barley spoke English. We went to Joy Kitchen for the first te this evening prior to seeing a movie. The staff were friendly, professional and very quick. The food was served hot and delicious. Visited here on a Saturday night for their happy hour. Hard to beat Blue Moons at $3.50 and 50% off. Service was prompt and food came out very quickly. While the management wants to be accommodating to guests with celiac disease, they need to educate their sushi chefs if they are going to offer this option. We ordered sushi and they put crunch on the top after I had extensive conversation with the manager. Twice my GF order has been made or packaged wrong.
