We were the first ones here on a Wednesday, and we're well taken care of. It was very clean, and spacious. They could definitely take on a large amount of patrons at once. Out server was a bit skeptical with how much we ordered, but we devoured our entire first order and they saw what we could do! Had some take-out from here for the first time last week and was not a fan. It may be that the AYCE service is really the big draw here. I had a teriyaki beef rice bowl, and the meat was overcooked and flavorless, sitting on what was basically scrambled eggs and bean sprouts with a bed of rice underneath. The teriyaki sauce on the side was the best part of the meal. The point of a donburi is that the rice soaks up juices and flavors from the meat, egg, and onion put on top, but with how this was prepared the rice was bone dry. The rice bowl came with miso soup - there was a lot of it, but it was bland and watered down. The flavor was a bit off (I'm half Japanese and make miso soup from scratch at home, and this was not hitting the mark). I had a tuna roll as well and it was pretty mediocre. I wouldn't get take-out here again, but if invited I'd be willing to try the dine-in AYCE experience. I won't be ordering from the kitchen again though. read more

Decent spot for all you can eat sushi with fresh and thinly cut sashimi. We went during dinner time and it was around $35 per person. Yellowtail and salmon sashimi stood out to me the most. Tokyo sushi has a parking lot that it shares with other businesses. I think the dinner is a good price for ayce sushi. I always get sat right away and a waiter is normally with our table shortly to take our drink order. The food is typically good, I've been here numerous times and only once was it not good. I feel like the nigiri has a little too much rice for how thinly sliced the seafood is- I wish the seafood cuts were a little bigger/thicker. They always play good music and the bathrooms are always clean. I went yesterday and it was really good. I got my food promptly and everything was tasty. what i got: miso soup + sweet potato roll & chicken tempura roll most generous size miso soup i've ever had & had a nice mild flavor. idk where they get their scallions but they didn't wilt & had the perfect flavor and crunch. the tempura on both the rolls were crunchy. the sweet potato roll was HUGE i never had such a fat sp roll before. the sp flavor is very mid. i really only taste the eel sauce which has a more sweet and bold flavor than other eel sauces i've had. not my favorite. the chicken tempura roll had lettuce in it, that was a first for me. i wasn't mad at it but when dipped in the soy sauce it tastes very american bbq it was giving 4th of july sushi chicken burgers. not bad but not much flavor. service was quick & staff were nice. read more

I did the AYCE I ordered multiple nigiri and 2 rolls The nigiri sizes where very small , but I guess it's because it's AYCE , the rolls where decent sized and the cones where surprisingly large . Server was very nice and attentive , I went during lunch time so it wasn't too busy. Dinning area was clean , didn't use the restrooms , so I can't say . I came her with my wife for a special date night sushi splurge not too long ago. We usually love to go to Kyoto for our AYCE sushi experiences but we decided to give this place a try for a change after I drove by it during work one day. We are happy we gave this place a shot. First off, the inside is very sleek, modern, and cozy. Perfect for a date night or celebratory get together with friends and family. The inside was decorated with seafood and they did not disappoint on the seafood front. We like fish sushi but we really are bigger fans of crab and shrimp sushi and their AYCE menu has a good mix of specialty rolls that showcase both. We especially liked that real snow crab was a featured protein in their rolls and not just fake crab (sirimi) like at other joints. This crab is the real deal without much of a price difference. I fell in absolute love with their Tiger Roll. It is basically a jalapeno popper had a baby with crab sushi and it is pure, culinary bliss. I ordered a couple of those rolls for just myself, they were so good. A little on the rich side so they will fill you up faster but well worth it. My wife and I may have found our new go-to AYCE sushi place. Very good and not too far out of the way from the metro. Give it a try the next time you are in West St. Paul. read more

Great place for AYCE sushi! Their menu is big and definitely catered to everyone, even if someone in your party doesn't eat raw fish. You can make reservations, however the few times I've been there I've never had to wait for a table. My suggestion is try to get seated towards the back and you'll get better and faster service. The most recent time I dined there I was seated by the exit door and the service was slower than what I've experienced. Food was still good so we had a great time. They're located within a strip mall so there is plenty of parking spaces. They do offer kids price I believe 3-11 it's $1.50/year. read more

We tried to order off the regular menu and the waitress would not let us so we were very confused. We were charged 75 for five rolls total. WHAT. For me, eating sushi is always some sort of battle with a negotiated peace treaty between my hunger, the deliciousness of sushi, and the expense of satisfying that hunger in the best, most satisfying, least expensive way. But when one enters an All You Can Eat sushi restaurant, the battle is turned on its head. Suddenly, it becomes, for me, anyway, strategy about how best to fit all the delicious things into me before I get too full. Tokyo Sushi offered that chance, and for that, I feel grateful. It was $30 for my husband and me to eat, but only $15 for our son. It is not cheap, but there is also an additionally fun game of trying to eat enough to make it worth it. What it meant for our son was that he was able to try things we would likely not want to spend the money on. He tried spicey salmon and tuna rolls (pass). He tried their fried rice (ok, but too many bean sprouts). He tried their red bean ice cream and their green tea ice cream (big wins). The portions are very small, but there are no limits to ordering. We tried lots of sashimi (rice makes you full!), nigiri, rolls, soup, and even a sushi pizza. It was a fun meal in a clean, quiet atmosphere, made better by an attentive and dry-humored waiter as well as a robot who brought out our food. The sushi itself was not great. The tuna tasted fishy, and the fish in general did not have a lot of flavor. So, if you are looking for really good sushi, this is not the first pick. I'll give them a break. I'd say go now to this location cause the cuts for sashimi here are large. Not like some ayce sushi places that cut them in tid bit sizes, but I'm sure once they're settled in and gets more busy. They'll start cutting them smaller like most joints do. Right off the bat, the waitresses (two people were serving us) already seemed like they didn't want to serve our party of 15. Honestly it wasn't even that busy tonight, however we waited for 15 minutes before our water was even brought to us. After we were finally served our water, we waited another 15-20 minutes before we could place our orders. Our food came out pretty slow. It was literally one appetizer every 10 minutes or so-- compared to the Maplewood location-- the service here sucked. When our food finally arrived, the waitress already asked if we want ice cream. Seriously, why are you rushing us out. We don't see our family often due to conflicting hospital work schedules and we're here tonight to celebrate our younger sister's 19th birthday with the kids. It's not like we were loud or obnoxious, just a big quiet family celebrating a joyous occasion. We kept waving down the waitress to let her know that part of our order never came, she just nodded her head as if she was listening and walked away. No acknowledgment or apology at all and the food never came. In the end, it took both waitresses a long time to serve us (no refills either) that we weren't hungry anymore. It also took them another 20 minutes to come back with our cards. If we wanted to be an ass of a customer, we could have. The only time that they were fast at anything was to clean up the tables while we were still eating (reaching over our food and all) and check the bill to see if we left tip. The fried rice was a 10/10 for me. There was a decent size portion of yum sauce provided on the side. It was hot and it tasted great. My main issue is the price. We came as my son loves sushi and we saw "all you can eat" posted. We even said that's all we wanted but with 4 people not eating much food it ended up costing with tip $171. I can't afford that and wouldn't have ordered that if the prices had been posted or shared us at any point of the meal. When food was served no information was provided. (I have eaten a lot of sushi in my life, AND I have never complained, nor told a restaurant that their food was not edible) I told the waitress that the quality of the food was not something that I would be willing to eat (I'm not eating funky tasting raw fish). I asked if I was going to be charged for the food we ordered or if we could just leave. She insisted that we pay the entire bill (all you can eat lunch). I did not agree, however I don't have it in me to walk out with out paying. I told the cashier that IF they held firm to me paying the entire amount for un-edible food I would make sure to write a review on yelp. She said she understood but was following managers orders.
