The coffee is consistently delicious, and honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on their coffee menu. Whether you're a regular or stopping by for the first time, I highly recommend giving their coffees a try. But here's something you absolutely should not sleep on: the chicken pesto panini! It's easily one of my favorite items on the menu. My personal go-to is adding egg whites to it, which turns an already amazing sandwich into a phenomenal breakfast option. Seriously, give it a try. You won't regret it! After 13+ years of coming here, it's still one of my favorite local spots. Great coffee, delicious food, and the kind of consistency that keeps you coming back year after year. Highly recommend!

Atmosphere is laid back and great for study with relaxing background mood music and low-key conversation. This place has a great community vibe, and like a cozy English pub, has a cast of interesting characters as regulars. Chess aficionados hang out here on Saturdays and Sundays. There's an informal library exchange with a great selection of quality books. First Friday of every month, they are open till 9:00 PM, and there is music out front with an excellent live Jazz ensemble. The baristas and the owners Soo and Terry are friendly and really make you feel welcome. And did I mention the coffee? It's heavenly. Their restroom is as clean as you would keep your own, and is well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper and soap. No other place in Long Beach comes close to the quality of Bixby Joes for coffee, food, staff, atmosphere, and camaraderie. In my book, they are at the top of the Pantheon of Great Coffee Bars in Long Beach.

Hidden gem Italian restaurant tucked inside an Italian market! They don't just sell deli…read moreitems--they also have fresh pastas, raviolis, olive oils, and desserts if you want to make your own Italian meal at home. Their pasta is way better than Cheesecake Factory! The Chicken Alfredo is rich, flavorful, and garlicky. The ravioli with pink sauce is also delicious, while the marinara was a little plain for my taste. Every pasta dish comes with garlic bread that's buttery, garlicky, and full of flavor. Portions are HUGE, so come hungry! Their cannolis are yummy and reasonably priced, too. You can order in person and wait or order online for an easy pickup. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to again and again!

As far as the food ...The sandwich was not for me, but those that said it was very delicious and fresh. Now I have the antipasto salad and I will be honest it was OK nothing extraordinary, but what I did not enjoy were the olive pits that were still in the olives that was not fun. Thankfully, I did take my time when eating my salad and was cautious when approaching the olives as I have had an unfortunate experience that cracked my tooth due to an olive in a salad before. So that's a huge negative for me on the antipasto salad. The price point is pretty decent, the food was good, but to say that I would drive all the way back out to grab a sandwich here would probably not happen, but I'd only come out here if I was in the area. Places clean, prices, Repair, and the workers were kind of to that I am grateful.

Where do I even start about this restaurant?…read more The atmosphere? Welcoming and friendly. The food? Let's just say I was contemplating what dish I wanted to try next WHILE eating my meal- incredible and fresh! I ordered the Butifarra Sandwich, Lomo Saltado, and a PB&J Latte. Butifarra Sandwich: flavorful and super satisfying. It was tender and the bread was soft AND crunchy? Amazing. The yucca fries were a perfect accompaniment. Lomo Saltado: it just hit the spot. This felt like eating a home cooked meal in the very best way. Wholesome and flavorful and fresh! PB&J Latte: this was a cheeky choice for a weekend treat and I was NOT disappointed. Smooth and sweet without being overly sweet thoroughly impressed me. It was pure comfort in a cup. I've been dreaming about this restaurant since trying it for the first time.

First time hitting up Alli Kaphiy and it was a win…read more Grabbed the Jamon del Pais (house-made ham) with yuca and the Chimu (seasoned shredded roasted chicken) with fries. Both were really good and very filling--definitely didn't leave hungry. The house-made ham was a standout, and the Chimu chicken has a great specialty seasoning. It came with a side sauce that was really flavorful; I love spice, so if there was any heat in it, I couldn't really tell, but the flavor was definitely there. Next time I'll ask if they have a Rocoto sauce for a bit more kick. Solid spot for authentic Peruvian flavors and huge portions. I'll be back.

I was excited to try this place after all the positive reviews I had read on Facebook. I mean,…read morecome on, the sandwiches I had seen pics of looked delicious! I ordered takeout today and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I came in around 3:15 and ordered two sandwiches to go - the hot roast beef and the BLTA. When I got in my car, I decided to take a bite of my BLT (with avocado) before heading home. It was not good, at all! Instead of a few (or more, because it WAS $16!) slices of delicious bacon, it was a thick sandwich filled with what appeared to be bacon pieces, like the preparer had just scraped together old bacon from earlier in the day. It tasted greasy and burnt. After several sips of water my tongue was still greasy! The avocado was almost nonexistent. I immediately went back in and asked for a refund. I brought my husband his roast beef ($18!). He is not a picky eater, AT ALL! He said it wasn't very good and he should bring them an Arby's to show what a roast beef sandwich should look like. He was really disappointed. Sorry, if you love this place, please ignore my review but I highly recommend that you do NOT order these sandwiches unless the owner makes an announcement that they've taken steps to improve. Too many great places to get a good sandwich.

During my last visit, I had the Elvis Kieth, which consisted of chicken, teriyaki, wasabi mayo, and swiss cheese. Highly recommend ordering this but I honestly feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This location is in the hangar in Long Beach, which is a cool location. So disappointed because the concept sounds great but the food was just sooooo BLAND…read more Our first sandwich was the Elvis and it was absolutely flavorless except for the wasabi. The bread had no flavor, the chicken had no flavor, all that you could taste was wasabi. Our second sandwich was the Rawson Thurber and again it was very bland. The bread had no flavor the turkey had a little bit of flavor, all you could really taste was the cranberry sauce. This is high concept fast food, with lots of different ingredients, yet the final product is sorely lacking. In contrast, Jersey Mike's is low concept fast food, just basic subs. However, all the ingredients that go into their sandwiches are loaded with flavor......the bread, the meat, the sauces. On a positive note, they give you big portions, the staff is friendly and efficient. Won't be going back.
