Kimchi butter for the win! It was my first time ever to try Shootz and I am now a big fan of Kimchi butter. This spot is known as the "original home of kimchi butter" and after you try at least one of their items with it, you will know why it is so amazing. I got to try several different dishes here and I loved each one! I first tried their Mixed Plate. You can choose the Mixed Plate to be regular or spicy. I chose mine as the regular version. It comes with kimchi butter katsu chicken and kimchi butter katsu shrimp, two scoops of steamed rice and one scoop of Mac salad. The kimchi butter katsu chicken was my favorite. The katsu chicken was perfectly crisp outside and juicy inside. Both the chicken and shrimp were smothered in the famous kimchi butter, which made the mains so savory and rich. I also really loved the Mac salad. It was so creamy and comforting. Equal in deliciousness was the Hot Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken Sandwich. The same tasty and crispy katsu chicken was topped with Mac salad, creamy Kimchi aioli and brûlée brown sugar and placed in between two Hawaiian buns. So ono! This is now on the list of some of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I also tried their Spam Brûlée Musubi. This is a spam musubi drizzled with kimchi aioli and brûlée brown sugar. It was umami packed and seriously addicting. Alongside all the savory food, I got a refreshing Strawberry Pineapple Lemonade. It was the perfect pair to all the delicious food. Last but not least, I had to try their ube beignets. I love both ube and beignets and so this dessert was a true dream come true. It was so airy, pillowy and sweet. Oh Shootz! I am a fan! This spot is amazing. One thing to note is that this spot is located at the Uptown Commons in Long Beach. The seating is all located outside so all the food is takeout. Also one other thing to note is parking can be a bit tough. It's totally worth a visit though.

Shootz was the 3rd stop of my friend's food crawl adventure in Long Beach. Such a unique twist on traditional Hawaiian food that you may be used to, but not lacking in any flavor whatsoever. Shootz was a little hard to find even though the corner sign on Atlantic Ave and E Artesia Blvd displays it's there. The restaurant houses itself in the steel shipping containers, similar to SteelCraft. It's one of two food places, the other one being a hot chicken place. You'll know you're in the right spot when you see the Wendy's outside too. The parking lot shares with Chase Bank and Starbucks, so finding a spot can be difficult. While the kitchen and space to order isn't large there is plenty of shared-covered seating between Shootz and the chicken restaurant. Their menu is simple, their signature Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken, Shrimp, Chicken sandwich, and their Brulee Spam Musubi. They have plate options but we opted for one of the 3 family packs for 6 of us. This was massive, and while it says it feeds up to 4, it was more than enough for 6 with some even left over. Buttery slightly spicy, and every bit of savory this was amazing. Mac Salad was pretty standard, the brulee musubi was ok too (I'm a bit picky about spam musubi). Food was delicious. We also order this on a different occasion for a picnic and everyone loved it. The one downside of it was that the staff would seem to disappear from time to time with literally no one behind the counter or in the kitchen (There is a clear window you can see through from where you order). Because the fans plus music were loud you kind of have to shout which I hate doing, I don't want to sound rude. Really good twist on Hawaiian food.

I ordered the kimchi butter katsu chicken. I opted for the spicy version and in my opinion it was pretty spicy but still delicious! I may get the regular next time since there's no spice level to choose from. The macaroni salad was refreshing as well. It's located in a strange little steelcraft like area behind Wendy's. I actually didn't see it from the parking lot so I left the parking only to see the sign from the street side so I went back in to park. My order was ready on time and nice and hot. Server was very friendly and efficient as well.

do not order take out through their app your order will never get to you and they will not pick up the phone to help you, my order says completed and it still has not gotten here and the dasher isnt given me an eta and he/she is not answering the phone he keeps saying tge order got picked up and then saying he/she is waiting for it.

Very good meal here! I got the spicy chicken and shrimp, and it was amazing. It comes with rice and mac salad also. It's a nice area they share with the main chicken hot chicken restaurant and other places i saw inside. They have a nice sitting area outside. This place is just pick up orders so no inside seating in the actual restaurant. Customer service was good. Also got the strawberry pineapple lemonade which was refreshing. It's worth a Hoot to eat at Shootz! Shootz located in Long Beach is a hidden Hawaiian gem for your taste buds. You can't see it from the street, so park and walk into the open-air courtyard with lunch tables, and you'll instantly feel the vibe. I ordered the Kimchi Butter Chicken Sandwich with macaroni salad and a 2pc of musubi. If you like spice, go for the spicy version because it will be a perfect balance with the mac salad. No graceful way to eat it, but honestly, that just proves how good it is. If sandwiches aren't your thing, you can also go for a plate: kimchi butter chicken, shrimp, or a half-and-half mix, all served with rice and macaroni salad. I'm definitely coming back for the kimchi butter shrimp plate, it looked and smelled incredible. For drinks, I chose the Mint Peach Limeade, which was refreshing and bright. The cashier even offered me samples of all three flavors before I decided (exceptional service.) Shootz is cashless, so bring your card. My food was ready quickly, and the manager, David, made the experience even better. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely positive. Good music, hot food, and amazing vibes make this spot stand out. I'll absolutely be back with my son who's a fried chicken sandwich fan. I know for a fact he's going to love this place. Shootz does it right, and it's worth every bite.

Had Shootz today for the first time and I must say it is one of the best things I've eaten in a while. Located in a small food hall made of shipping containers which was very cool. Got a variety of things off their menu. The Kimchi Butter Chicken Katsu was soooo good; we got the spicy version which was amazing. The chicken was so juicy and crispy with just the right amount of spice. Served on a bed of rice that absorbs all of the sauce and juice from the chicken, paired with Hawaiian Mac Salad which is something that I absolutely love. We also got the Kimchi Butter Chicken Sando and Spam Brûlée Musubi. The sandwich was delicious, not your typical hot chicken sandwich, it was very juicy and spicy and topped with Hawaiian mac salad instead of slaw which cooled down the spice of the sandwich. It is basically the plate but in sando form...amazing. The Musubi was also very good, it's topped with a creamy kimchi aioli and brûlée brown sugar; the perfect combination of salty and sweet. The strawberry pineapple lemonade was very refreshing as well. If you're anywhere near the Long Beach area this is definitely a must try!!! 100/10

Exceeds expectations every single time!! This is probably one of my top 3 places to eat. I got it delivered and food was hot and service was quick. And I get the same meal every time mixed plate (kimchi butter katsu and shrimp) and 2 pc spam musubi. I mix up the drink every now and again. The mango tea lemonade is so good and refreshing. Food always hits the spot! Love getting the family trays as I feel they are worth it for the amount you get. I will say though that the ube beignets were a bit underwhelming as they were tiny and only contained 2 pieces for $6.99. If you compare that to Disneyland beignets, you would get more pieces that are bigger in size for that price. I recommend ordering ahead on their app so that it'll be ready when you arrive. Also you do get points for having an account on their app.

I have yet to have a bad experience here. This trip was more for a quick snack as we ordered the shrimp a la carte, and two sets of the spam brulee musubi. The musubi was good, seaweed was soft and not stale nor soggy despite the 40 minute trip home, but I am not the biggest fan of its sweetness. I do come here more for the shrimp as it's my absolute favorite. I tried it spicy this time and it is just perfect for my spice tolerance, full of flavor, and amazingly crispy. We also tried a side of the kimchi aioli this time and it was so creamy and added a nice change of flavor to dip the shrimp in (although the shrimp is good enough on its own anyway)

First time I had shootz was at the rodeo in Stanton. When I found out there was one in LB I was stoked. My family loves their kimchi butter chicken and shrimp. My daughter and I go for the non spicy, while my husband opts for the spicy version. The chicken and shrimp have a nice crisp to it. If you have leftovers it reheats nicely in an air fryer. I'm not really a fan of their macaroni salad. I just prefer it from other restaurants. We've never had any issues with our orders. I'm already looking forward to ordering it again.

Husband was craving their masubi and i had never been. we stopped by around 6:30pm to find quite a line. initially was a little annoyed because someone wasn't up front for about 5 min to even acknowledge the people waiting for pickup or to order. the soda machine majority were "out". Quickly i realized there was only ONE person working and of course was swamped all at one time. She came from the back with a hand full of online orders and immediately took the customers in line. after ordering our stuff came out pretty fast and exactly what my husband wanted. get the girl some help! she gets 4 stars. read more

Hands down, best meal I've had in months! I ordered a kimchi butter katsu chicken plate (~$14) with a mango green tea lemonade (~$4-5) and both were phenomenal. The plate came with juicy, crispy chicken katsu topped with sweet sauce, rice, and tuna macaroni; each delicious in its own right. The lemonade tasted like fresh mangos and complemented the meal perfectly. The severs were also kind and the atmosphere of the food court was nice as well. 10/10 meal. Definitely coming here again. I've been a long-time customer and I have nothing bad to say about the food since it's my favorite, but this morning I left feeling very frustrated and upset. I only had half an hour for my lunch break. I arrived at Shootz around 11:30 AM and, while there were quite a few customers, there was only one older lady and one girl in the kitchen. My order took 20 minutes, and I was starting to get annoyed, so I walked up to ask about it. By then, another girl had arrived to help me At the register, but her attitude made me even angrier. I asked her about my food and she didn't even answer me she just went to the back and brought out my meal . I didn't even enjoy my food besides the fact that it was cold, it took too long and the service was rude. How is it possible that a restaurant with so many customers and so much promotion on TikTok can't afford to pay for more employees? read more

So I finally got to try Shootz. This is definitely my new favorite Hawaiian spot! The proportions are so big that I got full before I even got to try the spam. Best chicken katsu we've ever had! Tender, juicy with generous and crispy panko crumbs. The spam musubi was large and artistically appealing, and the rice and mac salad were good too. The food, the ambiance, the great customer service made the drive here well worth it! They offer great deals for combos! I got the kimchi butter katsu combo that comes with spam brulee musubi and a drink! You can either have spicy or non-spicy chicken. The kimchi butter katsu, was AMAZING! You can literally smell the butter in the katsu! I love katsu, and I think Shootz has the best katsu out there! The spam brulee musubi's were so good! The creamy dressing was a great addition to your standard musubi. If you love chicken sandwiches, you will definitely love the katsu sandwich!! It was very juicy and crunchy! Their juice was very refreshing too! For the quality food you receive, I believe the plate combos are reasonably well priced. Overall, I think I've found my #1 Hawaiian food plate, place. Food was fiiiiire! I ordered thru DoorDash and it was so good...I had to run it back and get it again the next day. But dang DoorDash fees ain't no joke, so I drove to their LB location and picked it up. My sister tasted some of my plate the day before and wanted a plate too. (2) Kimchee butter Katsu and shrimp plates to-go and service was so fast. Food was hot & fresh. My girlfriend loves Hawaiian food and she requested a new spot for me to search so I found this on the 91 fwy exit. I've been wanting to try it and now this is my chance lol. The ambiance looks like those "Steel Craft" type of places, which looks like more of a pop up/ food truck ambiance. This spot is popular among the Jordan High students since it's only one block away from the school and local favorite as well. The service is really good and greeted us with a smile :) The food is awesome, especially their gourmet spam musubi. One of the best spam musubi I ever had, hands down. The flavor is unique and compacted with flavor. We ordered their chicken sandwich as well, which includes the Mac inside.. unique Hawaiian twist. You cannot have Hawaiian food without the Mac tbh so that's awesome. We ordered their combo #4 too which includes that marinated chicken and shrimp with rice. Damn that's really filling and I think I'm pregnant after these meals. Overall, I like the twist and my girlfriend enjoyed it. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and family. We will be back for more. A great recommendation to people craving for Hawaiian food alongside the 91 east freeway to LA :) read more

I'd definitely come back for the Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken Sandwich. I've seen katsu sandwiches around at other stores and think the premise of it is simple, but this one was very flavorful and savory. The crunch was also perfect! I ordered it with the Spam Brulee. While the topping was good, after eating the top off the flavor tastes standard of most spam musubis so I wouldn't be inclined to order it again. Refresher Drink Ranking among our group: 1. Mango Tea was an overall favorite 2. Mint Peach Limeade 3. Strawberry Pineapple Lemonade This spot is part of the Uptown Commons food court in the LB neighborhood. It's a colorful, quaint space with fun seating. I could imagine it being a nifty hangout spot and was surprised more people weren't there, though it could be more active during nighttime or if there are ever local events happening in the area. The service was friendly, but after we ordered our food we didn't really get any notification when we could pick it up so we had to go to the cashier after a while to find out that it had been sitting around. I was really excited to try this place since I love Hawaiian food, but it just wasn't what I expected. We got the chicken plate and the shrimp plate, and the flavors didn't really hit for us and the food was really greasy . Also, both my boyfriend and I ended up feeling pretty nauseous after eating, which was a big bummer. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I just wanted to share my experience. Another great experience! Briana was my server and she was very friendly, very helpful, and just a great server. They surprised me with a birthday greeting when I opened my bag, which I thought was very thoughtful of them. This time I tried wavy bundles of #4 which had kimchi katsu and kimchi shrimp, plus 2 spam brulee musubis. Great birthday lunch, I had no doubts about it. I ordered the Katsu Chicken Sando & the Mint Peach Limeade. I must say I was really excited to try something new as the flavor profiles were intriguing. My food was ready in under 5min which told me it wasn't fresh. The limeade tasted like it had old/spoiled citrus in it. I live 3min away and once I got home, my food was below room temp, which was really disappointing. I ordered my Mac salad on the side as I wasn't sure if I would like it. The flavor of the chicken was delicious and it would have been explosive if it were fresh and hot. The uptown commons had a pretty dingy ambiance and very much had the appeal of a location that is Compton adjacent (if you know what I mean) that's not the restaurants fault though. I think they'd do better at SteelCraft Bixby Knolls. Overall because the flavor was so good, I'd go back but I'd definitely request my food be made fresh. read more

Shootz is legit! My friend and I popped by for some lunch over the weekend and loved the food & vibe of this spot. Within the Uptown Commons, sits this really cool Hawaiian food spot in shipping container. They have some picnic table style outdoor seating, and a big parking lot. The food was so delicious and flavorful. I was really amazed. The guy at the cashier counter gave me a discount for it being my first visit which was so kind of him to do because I was not expecting that. It was a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the food outside at their picnic tables. I've seen this place pop up on uber eats but decided to eat there instead and I'm glad I did because I wouldn't have had the lovely interaction with the guy at the cashier if I had ordered delivery. I've been here a couple of times, gotten their plates and their chicken sandwiches, every time these items have been amazing. The kick of the chicken with the savory flavors is great. The service is quick and friendly, although it's a small spot they pump out the food within a reasonable amount of time. When I say this is probably the best katsu I've ever had. Like the best and I took it home to record a mukbang. I paid $24 for a sandwich and a katsu plate both spicy and my goodness it's delicious. My bf and I saw a random video of the food from this spot, on Instagram, and decided to drive out to try it! Drove an HOUR and stuck in traffic to try this spot!! Pretty good parking lot and was surprised that it was in a small outdoor food hall type area. Lots of shade over the bench tables and plenty of spots to sit and eat! Not sure how busy it gets but maybe we got lucky. We ordered the Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken meal which came with a drink (got a mint peach limeade) and 2 pieces of their Spam Brulee Musubi (which is really the main star that we came here for). Food came out quick, shoutout to David S. Who I believe took our order and was surprised and happy at the same time that we drove an hour out to try their food! :) We sat down to eat and we DEVOURED. The katsu was incredibly delicious and we also got a side of their kimchi butter. Now, the kimchi butter is a MUST. Doesn't matter what you order, get a side of it. I have always heard good things about this place so when I came to Main Chick next door, I knew I had to stop and try something from Shootz as well. I decided to go with the chicken sandwich because it looked really good in the photos but I was also just craving chicken sandwiches. It was like 9$ too for only one so I figured it must be pretty good or something if they're charging this much for them lol. Though it was delicious, I still feel it is a bit outrageous to charge someone this much money for a chicken sandwich. Other than that, I had no problems with the place. Such a good deal for their family meals! I picked up a kimchi butter katsu chicken family meal for about $50 and it was a hefty amount of food. Leftover for days and the katsu reheated well. I don't really like the taste of kimchi so not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing, but I couldn't really taste it on the katsu. It just tasted super buttery! I will say that their mac salad threw me off because they include tuna and it wasn't as sweet as your typical Hawaiian mac salad. Online ordering was super easy since I wanted to place it in advance and it didn't seem like there was an upcharge compared to ordering in person/phone. My order was ready at the time I requested and was packaged well. There's a shared seating area with benches for those who want to eat there. Four of us had never been here before, so came on a Wednesday late morning, as soon as they opened at 11am. There is dedicated parking behind the restaurant, where we found spots for our two cars. We were the first customers for the day, and picked a table for six in the front. It was right next to the busy sidewalk (which folks use their bicycles and motorized scooter on), so wouldn't choose this spot next time. But since we wanted to try their KBBQ for six, it was the only spot available. The grill is a typical set-up that you can do at home, with a portable butane canister and a caldron style grill (kinda out of fashion to use as KBBQ these days, especially outside). The party let me order, so ended up getting the following. 1 Seoul Sunrise Fish Bowl ($25) - an agave infused orange, pineapple, grenadine, and soda cocktail with a whole chamisul bottle of soju. Really a nice sight that all of us tried, and we agreed that it was refreshing for a humid day like this day. Moo's Combo (Large for $140) - it had Prime Brisket, Beef Belly, ribeye bulgogi (other choice being Prime Flat Iron), prime kkotsal boneless short rib (other choice being prime marinated boneless galbi). It comes with Corn Cheese (decent), rice cake skewers (good), crispy pork dumpling (kind you buy from h-mart, and cooked well), a small pre-dressed salad, and various banchan. I asked for rice paper (which they were bigger), and each person got a series of 3 dipping sauces (none of them memorable). All the meat came at once, and had to be grilled individually. Because it was warm outside, a lot of the meat became room temperature. The meat quantity was great (more than I expected), but the quality was just OK and nobody at the table really praised the taste too much. For me, it was OK and would try something else on their menu next time. Popcorn Five Spice chicken wings ($17) - on their collaboration menu with Midnight Oil, enjoyed by my wife and her mom. Scallion Pancake ($15.99) - it was OK, a large amount with 6 generous slices...just wish it was a lot thinner, with more scallions and crispiness. 2 Orders of Busan Mackerel ($9.99 each) - I had gotten this last time, and really liked it, so wanted to share with my other Korean dining partners. It was just OK this time, not as crispy as before. Note that it has a lot of pin bones that weren't all removed. We were able to refill the banchan and I took advantage for my favorites. I really like the kimchi here, and will always eat a lot of the fish cake (which I really like here). They use Toast as the POS, and the large bill was accurate, including a 18% gratuity since we were a party of six. What I really liked about it, was that even though it was very slow (we were the only customers dining in so early in the afternoon), the service and food quality was the same as what I would expect at a busier time. And their menu is as diverse and varied as any I've seen at Korean restaurants. Overall a good experience: would try their lunch specials next time, sitting inside.

A couple things to know before you go: parking isn't great, and the restaurant gets busy. We showed up around 5:00 p.m. and only waited about 20 minutes, but I could see larger parties having a much longer wait. My go-to dish is the Pad Kra Prow Eggplant with chicken. It's a Thai basil stir-fry with eggplant, onion, and Thai chilis, and I absolutely love it. We also ordered the mussel curry, which my friend picked, and it completely surprised me. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but it was excellent. The standout, though, was the Khao Soi Noodle Soup with sliced rib-eye beef. Somehow I'd never ordered the dish they're most famous for, and now I understand why. It absolutely lived up to the hype. The broth with the rib-eye was incredible and is something I'd recommend to anyone visiting for the first time. My biggest criticism is that the rice portions feel smaller than they used to. With how much delicious curry and sauce you get, I found myself wishing there was just a little more rice to soak everything up. I also noticed that the green beans in the Pad Kra Prow Eggplant are very al dente. Personally, I'd prefer if they were blanched just a bit so they were slightly more tender. If the goal is to add texture, I'd almost rather see crunch come from something like cashews instead--but that's just my preference. For dessert, we had the mango sticky rice and another dessert with sweet milk dumplings and red beans. Both were fantastic and a great way to end the meal. Vibes of the restaurant are great. It's a small venue, but they work quickly, and a staff was very welcoming. Overall, Chiang Rai continues to be my favorite Thai spot in Southern California. If it's your first visit, the Khao Soi with sliced rib-eye is absolutely the dish I'd tell you to order.

I would've happily ordered a second plate and called it "dessert." Overall, I'd definitely come back--mostly because those drunken noodles are already living rent-free in my head.
