Went back here a few more times after the last visit. They have gotten a lot better with customer service. Last time their loco moco was extremely salty and was difficult to eat. All they did was provided extra rice to accommodate the situation. Came back here again recently and it was worth the wait and drive. Small place in a strip mall. We went on a Sunday night and it was very crowded. Our server was very friendly however the service was very slow. They seemed overwhelmed. Found parking in the parking lot, and upon walking in I noticed the beautiful nature/forest decor (fitting since it's a vegan restaurant). The scenes of nature on the TV screens and smooth music playing gave it a very calm vibe. There were also several biblical verses on the walls. Service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the loco moco, which was much wetter than I expected (the gravy was more like a broth). The patty was tasty and I was impressed how they made a vegan sunny side egg runny. The dish itself was tasty but a bit salty; the gravy broth was reminiscent of French onion soup with lots of onion and mushroom flavor. Very cute spot with fun nature-themed decor. Every time I visit, the staff is friendly, and a couple of times the owner has come out into the front of house to see how everything is going with guests. The food never disappoints. Quality is very high. It's very expensive to me, $20 for a wrap is definitely above average. But it's in a desirable location and they don't skimp on ingredient quality so I can see what contributes to the higher prices. I do wish they had more dessert options instead of just beignets. We were sat immediately at a table and served ice water along with menus. Friday night is busy for them! Lots of tables filled before and after us! We shared the crunchy tacos, loco moco, and wet burrito. I love me any tacos dorados (fried tacos) and these are always delicious. No salsa needed since it's so well seasoned and balanced. The loco moco was a little bit on the saltier side. In the future I'd prefer the gravy on the side so I can control the saltiness. The protein patty tastes just like a regular burger patty! And the fried "egg" on top was really good too. It even had the runny yolk texture too. My favorite this meal was the wet burrito. The texture of the protein they used was so good. A nice chew and good flavor too. It's already cut in half when they serve it but they still give you a knife in case. Towards the end of our meal, we received complimentary beignets! Four fresh, hot, and served with a sauce. I only had one and my two friends also had one each. My friends enjoyed this spot and commented it's one of their new favorite vegetarian/vegan locations. This is a Vegan restaurant but you would not believe that it's vegan food. Flavorful and so, so good..... It was so good that I was halfway through it before I remembered to take a photo. The texture was from the hearts of palm and paired with the lemon aioli, it was a great blend of salty and sour and crunchy. I ordered my usual Hawaiian bowl and it was delicious just like how I remembered it to be the first time around. Great flavors, fresh, hearty, and healthy. We ordered and shared the "chicken" BLT wrap (which looks like a thicc burrito and tastes like a chicken tenders burrito). Very tasty! We also got the "fish" tacos which were delicious. The proteins are a mix of soy proteins and wheats. Every dish has an explanation of what the "meat" substitute is made of. We also got the tater tots and paired with the vegan ranch was so good. 10/7/2025 Was running errands in Artesia and wanted to stop by for a healthier lunch. They were not busy, so we were delighted to be seated immediately. This is an all-vegan restaurant. CHEESESTEAK MELT WRAP - Their "steak" is wheat gluten and soy meat. - Deliciously sautéed vegetables of onion, red bell peppers, and mushrooms. - The lettuce was crispy and fresh. - The tortilla wrap was grilled on the stove and had a lovely smoky flavor. - Everything was served hot. - I couldn't tell it was vegan! GRAINS AND GAINS - This is a grain bowl with salad. - Added "steak" to my bowl, forgetting that this was an all-vegan restaurant. So I was chewing on the soy meat, being reminded again and again that indeed I was eating at an all-vegan restaurant. The texture of the soy meat was more of a chewier shiitake mushroom. The flavor was like sautéed mushroom with soy sauce. I didn't mind it, but I admit I wished it was red meat. - The portion was generous and there were a lot of salad and grains in it to satisfy a big appetite. The menu only features plant based and non dairy items. Protein lovers will not miss meat as items are tasty. I ordered grains gain bowl with marinated tofu with mushrooms, vegetables over black rice. The second visit my dining companion ordered the loco moco the patty is juicy and the sauce is tasty. Both times they feted us to beignets. The beignets can be improved to be lighter and fluffy as it tastes like a bread roll dusted with powdered sugar. I was looking up "Vegetarian Food" while visiting my hair stylist in Downey and this new place called the Mustard Seed came up! I gave their website a look and it had an amazing amount of options so I decided to go here after my hair appointment. The Mustard Seed is located in the Landmark Square Cerritos Plaza. Parking is ample and I got here around 3:30pm today. I am not strictly vegan but I am a vegetarian so I was excited to go somewhere with more than 2 options for me. The place was spacious, clean, and very nicely decorated. I was greeted by a staff member (I did not get her name but she was so helpful!) and I asked her if their strawberry hibiscus drink was sweet (I love a sweet drink), she said that it was definitely sweet. I let her know it was my first time and she was so patient. I ordered the Peanut Satay bowl and asked if I could add edamame to it and she said it would be no problem and that I also wanted to try the Hot Honey Chicken stripe. The cashier said that since it's my first time I would also get a complimentary dessert on the house! I got the plain beignet. There were people dining so my golden and I opted to sit on the hightops. The food came out and the Hot Honey Chicken was superb! The strawberry hibiscus drink was absolutely delicious! The bowl that I got was huuuuge! I definitely could not finish it but it was beautifully presented and tasted so good! The complimentary desert was so good too. So are the loaded hand cut cajun fries with fake steak and fake bacon, cheese, tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, and chipotle mayo. The peanut satay (grilled marinated tofu, brown rice, romaine, cabbage, carrot slaw, and Thai peanut sauce) and the tater tots side are fine. The fries and satay were large enough that we had leftovers. We met the owner, and, like his servers, he was nice, though I missed the opportunity to tell him that the ambiance is a little whack.
