I've seen this place around for years and never made the effort to give it a try until recently. We were quickly seated and ordered. The food came out extremely fast so a great option for a quick lunch. The tacos de mi abuela were light and crispy with a lot of filling. The ground beef and chorizo filling wasn't hit for me though. The taquitos were delicous. Short rib filling was tender and flavorly and the green salsa on the plate paired well with it. The enchilada with mole had mixed reactions between my wife and myself. She enjoyed it, while I didn't. I thought the mole was overly bitter, while she enjoyed the smokiness of it. I felt the tortilla and cheese cooled down too quickly m causing them to be on the harder side, like an uncooked tortilla from a package. The churro was the highlight of the meal. They were fresh, crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside. The salted caramel was perfect for dipping. Overall the food was good, glad we got to try it finally. PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES BEWARE! Amor y Tacos does not take your allergies seriously. This restaurant is not safe for you! Normally, I try not to give negative Yelp reviews, but this is a safety concern and people with allergies need to know what can happen. My boyfriend has a severe dairy allergy and we emphasized to our server not to put cheese on his meal. His dish comes back with cheese on his beans and some cheese has also spilled onto his tacos. Frustrating, but no big deal , it can be fixed. We sent it back requesting no cheese because he has a dairy allergy. They bring back the meal. It's clearly the SAME dish they brought us before. I see marks indicating they just scooped out the cheese from the beans and the tacos still have the SAME cheese residue on it. This is pure laziness. The food is cross contaminated with cheese. If my boyfriend eats this it will send him into anaphylactic shock. I tell the guy who delivered the food there's still cheese on his food. He tries to argue with me. I have to stare him dead in the eye and sternly tell him my boyfriend has a dairy allergy and this will send him to the hospital. I should not have to reprimand the workers in order to receive edible food. Honestly, if I wasn't here for my father's birthday I would have just left at that point. They end up comping his meal and brought him a fresh plate. But I'm just worried they're trying to be sneaky again and it's the same recycled food made to look new. Happened to come for dinner when a special DineLA prix fixe menu was available. My daughter and I each picked one from each choice of appetizers and main plus dessert. The menu offerings were different from the regular food. We personally enjoyed all of them: Tostada de ceviche camaron - well balanced citrus, cabbage , avocado plus good amount of shrimp and fish. Quesadilla de flor de calabasa or squash blossoms: two tortillas that were almost black (I should have asked what kind of grain) with tender squash blossoms topped with cream, flavored with epazote herb. This is a very nice seasonal dish. New Mexico Hatch chile pasta was creamy and not overly spicy, topped with pecorino and chives. The added carnitas were well seasoned, tender and deep fried for a satisfying crunch. Would also want this dish added to the regular menu! The tacos aranchera has thin shaved strip loin, lightly seared and lots of grilled spring onions - also delicious. Dessert offering of carrot cake tres leches was too heavy on the warm spice blend and cake itself was crumbly rather than tender after soaking in milks. Churros with horchata ice cream was a delicious contrast of warm and cold. It was quite busy this evening, I think our waiter was trying his best. Kitchen was on fire though, all the dishes came out in quick succession, servers were all in full steam. Added a kids soparito fideo, (tomato soup and noodles) came with a side of rice and beans, which we made into tiny burrito, with more rice and beans leftover. I felt music was a bit too loud. The hard surfaces amplified the sound so much we could barely hear each other's voices. Unfortunately I was seated under a leaky ceiling - it was not terrible but a slightly odd experience. This place is definitely deserving of their Bib Gourmand (an award from the Michelin Guide meaning their food is amazing AND affordable!) My party of 2 arrived around 5:30pm on a Monday, and although it was quiet when we arrived, the place quickly filled up around 6. The place is casual and homey enough to take family but also had a fun enough ambiance for a date or girls' night. We went for the DineLA special, which is $35 for chips and guac, an appetizer, entree, and dessert. We shared all our food and everything was delicious. There's plenty of good Mexican food in SoCal, but this place was a standout. All the food had a wonderful balance of flavors, a particularly great use of citrus and spice, and nothing was greasy. My favorites were the wet birria burrito with salsa verde and shrimp tostada. Definitely worth going here, whether DineLA or not! read more

My family and I stopped by Amor Y Tacos for dinner tonight, and both the food and service were outstanding! We made our reservation through Yelp, and after arriving, we were greeted warmly and seated within about 15 minutes. For dinner, we ordered the Hatch Spaghetti with grilled chicken, quesa birria tacos, a taco plate, the chile relleno burger, and the ceviche. Everything arrived quickly, was served hot, and most importantly, was absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavor, and everyone in our family enjoyed their meal. Tried the dineLA lunch menu in August 2026 as an opportunity to experience this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. The guacamole, salsa and chips started off the menu with a bang; really great, flavorful and delicious. After that, the menu items were just okay. My ceviche tostada was fresh but not super flavorful. The enchilada de flor de calabasa (squash blossom) was bland. And my carrot cake tasted like the hospital cafeteria version. This was my 2nd time here and it was just as fabulous as the first time. My husband and I shared the potato taquitos, chicharrones, and the new york steak. Everything was fantastic. I thought the sauce on the steak was a bit spicy, so next time Id get that on the side. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. There was a lady at the front making homemade tortillas. Met a friend here for lunch and, after looking at restaurants in the area, decided on Amor y Tacos. Made a reservation and there we were. Gianna was our server, very friendly, personable and honest about her recommendations. After a quick glance at the menu, we made our decisions. We did a taco plate with a mixture of tacos, ordered the pork belly tacos as well as the short rib entree. Meats were nice and flavorful, and all cooked well, nothing overcooked. Presentation was simple and appealing. The pork belly tacos were particularly interesting with diced watermelon, giving it a little crunch and sweetness. The avocado salsa on top was a little overly runny and felt more messy than adding to the taco. I would have preferred that not added and put on the side to add as you see fit. The short rib was cooked perfectly, just get sister with your fork and had good flavor. Overall, nice Mexican restaurant in Cerritos serving up some quality food. Also, I got a Mai Tai and it may be the largest Mai Tai your going to get, well worth the money. So, if you're in the area, stop by Amor y Tacos and grab someone to eat. We wanted to try this place since it got raving reviews. Upon entering, we had to wait a few minutes as the person who walked in right before us was placing a to-go meal we assume. No one greeted us for a few minutes which is fine if they're busy. They asked us to wait to finish cleaning a table so they could sit us in a corner since we had a stroller. There were several tables open. We ordered micheladas, the surf and the short rib with runny egg on top. The plating looked amazing, however the food fell short. The short rib plate came with veggies which consisted of zucchini and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were still slightly cold while the meat was hot. That was not good. My husband said his plate had the same problem as his were not fully warmed up either. The meat was good but it was also drenched in sauce and parts were extremely fatty. I didn't finish my plate because of this. My husband also complained of the same, stated the meals were both full of sauce that you can't tell the quality of meat. Another issue we had was everything was extremely salty. Given that I love adding salt to things, that is saying a lot. The chips were super salty where I had to wipe the salt off the chips. The micheladas had way too much salt as well and the sauce used on top of the meat. A good amount of people there so it just seems overrated to me. Avengers Assemble! Updated review: we've gone here three times in the past week and the quality is still as good as ever after all of these years! No need to travel back in time à la Dr Strange with the Time Stone. It's just as good in the present! Or maybe, just maybe... We are actually from the future and came back in time this week to try this restaurant twice. Kinda like Captain America time hoping to live his best life (or life to be. Or life lost?) with Peggy Carter? Our two absolute favorite dishes are the Chile Colorado and Shrimp à la Diablo. The former is hands-down, one of the two best short rib entrées I've ever had. And I've had various types of short rib in various states, as well as locally. Much like a dish that the hungry Asgardian God of Thunder would devour with hearty appetite and swinging hammer! The latter dish has such a wonderful spicy sauce, with slightly crisp potatoes, with neither one being overpowering or too much. just like Iron Man, setting his suit to the right power levels to stun an opponent with his repulses, but definitely not kill anyone. OK, we do sometimes add a little extra side of spice to this, but don't worry, we have to tell the tale. And one of the major sins is that we order the chips and salsa. I'm diabetic, but I will definitely cheat here and take a temporary glucose spike, so I do a lot of calf raises and brisk walking immediately after. But boy, are there freshly made chips wonderful. You know they are freshly made, because they are handmade and then deep-fried in their original round shape, rather than in triangles. so these chips are the full, round fried tortillas, much like they were made for Hank Pym as giant man, rather than Hank Pym as Ant-man. We now have to add the Ceviche tostada to the list. This one is not too tangy, as I think Manny put too much lime and it makes them tart. This one is not tart. They have a lot of seafood on them, as well as guacamole and some cheese, which gives it a slightly different flavor. They are very large portions, as we have seen other places, although serving excellent CBA tostadas, are much smaller. These are giant and extremely tasty and fresh! Namor the Submariner must have summoned these beasts from the Marianas Ocean depths! Service is always excellent. The last two times we were served by Gianna. There was a mail server as well today, but I didn't catch his name. He was just as good! Parking can get crowded during peak hours, but they share a parking lot with the bowling alley and the supermarket, so there's always plenty of parking, maybe just not right in front. So if you are looking to park your Quinjet or your hover cycle, you may need to actually walk, hover, or roll over from a slightly further parking spot. 5 stars! read more

Came back here for lunch with one of my friend's last weekend. Place was busy on a Sunday but we were able to get seated right away. Even though they were busy, service was quick & efficient. Stumbled upon this place on my way to Ralph's thinking it was going to be a quick little taco spot... only to realize it was an actual sit-down restaurant. So naturally, we stayed lol. The vibes were really good right away. They had upbeat Hispanic music playing, a decent-sized bar, and the whole place just felt lively and welcoming. Our waitress was super friendly, and since it was our first time there, they brought us a little sample of their chilaquiles for free, which was such a nice touch. I ordered the green cheese enchiladas and they were BOMB. The tortillas were handmade, which made them extra filling and honestly so much more delicious. I stopped by for a late-night bite. We were in the area, and feeling a bit hungry. We were craving some Mexican food, and we saw that this place had good recommendations, so we decided to stop by. There was no wait, and we were seated right away. It looked like there were only two front staff working that night, just a waitress and the bartender, who seemed to handle pretty much everything. I wasn't expecting much, but the hospitality was on point. I didn't catch his name, but the bartender was one of the best servers I've ever had. He was super friendly and went out of his way to accommodate our order after it came out not as expected (I'll get into that later). We ordered a few things: chips and salsa, the wet burrito, and the chipotle agave pork belly. The chipotle agave pork belly was hands down the best thing we ordered. The pork belly was tender, a little salty, and a little sweet from the glaze. The potatoes that came with it were amazing. IT was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and just delicious. Everything in this dish was just so well balanced. On the other hand, the other two dishes we ordered were just okay. The chips and salsa were standard. The salsa was a good light starter to the meal. I did want to mention that the chips were huge, practically entire tortillas! They were unsalted, but strangely addictive to munch on. As for the wet burrito, it had the potential to be good and would have been a hefty meal. It might take two people to finish, or if you're extra hungry, you could tackle it solo. We got the burritos with carnitas, but it came out too salty. It was noticeably salty, and even the other fillings and sauces couldn't balance it out. The bartender offered additional condiments to help cut the saltiness and even asked if we wanted it remade. However, by the time we figured out why it tasted off to us and concluded it was the saltiness, we were pretty much done with the burritos and our meal. We decided not to have the kitchen remake the burrito, as we didn't want to waste food, especially since we wouldn't finish a 2nd burroito. We barely took a few bites of the first and just thought it would be too much of a waste. Overall, the experience was solid, and the bartender's excellent service definitely stood out. read more

I've been here many times and my favorite items are their mole tots, their tortilla soup, and their shrimp enchiladas; however, my favorite time to come here is during "Dine LA". Amor Y Tacos gives one of the best pre-fixe menus in LA County and it's a great time to try things. Unlike previous years, portion sizes for the pre fixe menu were reduced to individual-sized portions; however, I think that they still gave tremendous value for the price. The Dine LA Menu is available through Friday, February 6 and it comes with chips and guac, street corn, your choice of tortilla soup or mexican clam chowder, an entree of your choice, and churros with horchata ice cream. For $35, it's a no-brainer. The tortilla soup and mexican clam chowders are flavor bombs. For my entree, I went with a wet burrito with chicken tinga and mole sauce. It's hard to go wrong with street corn; however, I thought that the churros were pretty standard. The burrito was massive and I'm still picking away at it a few days later. If you're looking for a great dine LA pick, then this is a great local option; however, I think it's also a great spot to check out on a regular night. Really enjoyed this location. I saw another post that said they would definitely come back and maybe even rate this place a little higher if it wasn't for the prices and I'd have to agree. Everything we had we really enjoyed. Would try other things on the menu that sounded interesting before I came back to them, but would definitely order all of it again. Run off the bat chips and salsa about five bucks if you want that so no complementary chips. So that let us down the road to try one of the appetizers we did the Papas Bravas. The crème in it was fantastic in it! Highly recommend this for you to kick your meal off. For our Maine, my wife did Birria tacos and I did pork belly. She liked her tacos but would try something else before going back to these. I throughly enjoyed the the short rib tacos, the watermelon was a nice touch. The beans and rice were fresh and good add. Regular beer Modelo, ran about $8. Service was OK. There was a bartender running back-and-forth to try and help our tables. It definitely took a while to get things like drink refills. There was a ladies single and mingle event happening there. Families were filling the place as well. So lots going on. Appreciated they had ladies hockey on in the bar; I'll give that big win for the environment. If I get the opportunity, I'll be back. The asada ones were pretty salty in my opinion. The pastor had pineapple which was a great complement to the taco. The short rib tacos were super tasty and tender as well. All the tacos were so good and I was honestly too full to finish them. The churros at the end were the perfect end to my meal. They weren't too sweet and the churros were warm, which went well with the cold ice cream. Also, if they have the sandia agua fresca, I'd highly recommend it. My go-to menu items are the tacos and enchiladas. On my recent visit, we shared some starters like Mole Tots and Papas Brava, both of which were very good. The quacamole and salsa with chips are always tasty too. The Agua Frescas of the day were sandia (watermelon) and horchata. I ordered the sandia, and it was refreshing. For my entrée, I went with the Taco de mi Abuela, and it was the perfect amount for me. The beef and chorizo mix was flavorful, the light, crispy shell was easy to bite into, and the rest of the ingredients kept the dish fresh and light. I would order this again. It was a little messy to eat, though. Since many ordered entrèes with rice and beans, it was served family style. The rice was good but I prefer refried beans style, and the beans here are whole. It's now 10pm and I am still full from eating their Dine LA deal at 2 (and subsequently the leftovers at 6:30). The deal is a LOT of food at a pretty good bang for your buck of $35, excluding tax and tip. Service was extremely efficient and attentive; our waitress got us started immediately with the courses where we don't need to make decisions, then came back to us for our later courses while we enjoyed the starters. The chip texture is phenomenal, with a perfect crunch while still having a little give to it. The guac is a little more jalapeño forward, so people who are sensitive to spice should be a little more careful. Street corn was a little saucy but perfectly balanced between sour and sweet. I have no idea what I expected out of the clam chowder but I honestly shouldn't have been surprised. This was a good palate cleanser after the street corn but honestly probably the least memorable dish out of all of them. The burrito is absolutely humongous and it's not my favorite burrito, but it was well-balanced among all of the ingredients without feeling too strongly of any particular one. The best part was that the ingredients were well-distributed throughout so I never felt like I had a bite of pure beans. The birria was a little bit more dry than my preference, though. We went around 6pm and while most tables were filled, thankfully we didn't have to wait long for our party of 2. Upon walking in, there was a lady making fresh tortillas- amazing!! Though the tacos don't look too large, they do pack the meat in so it was more filling than I thought it would be. The mole tots were also a highlight for me. I was in Cerritos for work and this was only a mile or so from the Sheraton where I stayed. The restaurant is in an unassuming little strip mall. Right when you walk in there is a station where they make homemade tortillas. The restaurant is very colorful and lively with fun art and music. Our server was excellent. Super friendly, great service, and explained the menu well. He brought us a bowl of complimentary chilaquiles since it was our first time there. And they were delicious. I got the cheese enchiladas which were HUGE and so tasty. My colleagues ordered tacos and loved them. They let you mix and match too. They had this noted on the menu but the regular beans have pork in them and the regular rice is not vegetarian but they have other rice and black beans that are. No wait on a Thursday evening! Food was a little pricey but good. I would come back. We shared the pork belly tacos and quesabirria tacos (not pictured here). The quesabirria tacos are the most popular item on the menu, according to the waitress. They were really good and quite heavy. I actually prefer the pork belly tacos over the quesabirria tacos though, as I found the pork belly tacos to have a more unique and interesting flavor profile. The pork belly was crispy and plentiful. The watermelons were an interesting addition. Mango con chile was also a tasty drink. Ambiance is more laidback and casual. Lighting was dim. Service was standard, nothing to write home about. read more

The manager was a sweetheart.l! Jesse is his name. Stephanie our server so sweet on top of everything service was fast. Everybody was kind atmosphere was great food always delicious and they just started getting a Dj. We went there on Saturday night. We had wet burritos and it came very quickly. I had with mole sauce, it was amazing! I wish shredded beef was more tender, for me it was little bit dry. But Very friendly server and quick service, very top notch. read more

Why didn't I know about this place?! It was LA restaurant week and this restaurant was on the list and not too far. What a great way to try a new place! I had actually already seen this place before I just had never tried it. Finding parking for lunch time was hard as there are other brunch businesses around all sharing parking. When we finally parked and walked in, we were sat pretty quickly. They place is very welcoming and the staff is friendly. The seat I got sat on was slightly dirty with crumbs from a previous guest but nothing major. We chose the 1 dine LA menu and ones la carte since we thought it would be too much food and we are glad we did that! The chips and salsa to start were good. The salsa had just a hint of kick which works for me. I don't eat avocado so my bf got to enjoy their guacamole. The tortilla soup was tasty and just enough of a portion. For the wet burrito, I wasn't sure which salsa I wanted red/green and they were kind to let me know I could do 1/2 and 1/2. Now that I've tried both, I prefer their green salsa as it has a bit of a kick and for sure savoury. Their red salsa reminds me a bit of mole, it has a unique flavour in the background and I just prefer the other one. I asked for an al pastor one and it was delicious! It had some pineapple in it, beans, rice and I added cheese which was an extra fee (worth it!). To close our experience, we had the icecream and churros. The ice cream was creamy and tasty. It honestly reminded me of vanilla ice cream with some cinnamon. The churros were small but multiple of them and enough to share. After looking at the menu, we need to be back and try some interesting dishes we saw. I know my bf was really interested in the chile relleno burger. read more
