We recently visited off the hook for a family members birthday. We all loved our food, but the amount of seafood in the pasta was disappointing. The blue prawn shrimp pasta (not pictured) doesn't actually come with prawns, it comes with regular sized shrimp. Our service was great and the restaurant was nice. They had live music out in the patio area and the drinks were good as well.

This was my first time here. We had a really nice waitress. We had different tacos. One kind had big shrimps and the other had pot roast beef. I had one of each kind and then I wanted a dessert. I had a chocolate dessert with cake and hot fudge and a garnishgarnish of strawberries and whipped cream. Everything was delicious.

Came in on a Friday for a quick bite and was impressed by their menu items. I'd been here before but I always tried the same thing (Blue Prawn Pasta that's AMAZING), so this time I switched things up. I opted for an appetizer with beets & pistachio, spicy cod sliders, and the Maine lobster taco. All three were delicious but the spicy cod sliders were my favorite. They were a combination of spicy and savory all in one. Staff were friendly and they had live music that livened up the ambiance. Cute spot for a date night!

Food was delicious, service was good and atmosphere was casual and relaxed. They have indoor/outdoor options and had a performer (person with a guitar) starting around 5 or so, that definitely added to the ambiance. Happy hour pricing was awesome! This is the "bar" that sits side by side with the Original Fish Company. A more casual and lively cousin if you will.

The best part of date night is trying twice the items! Haha The recommended dish was the $42 halibut which came macadamia crusted or hot (server said it was like a Nashville hot chicken sandwich). The macadamia crusted halibut with cream corn salsa and a blood orange glaze was delicious but I was bummed it was a smidge of decorative sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked & a large portion size. The hot was equally tasty and I ate the crunchy corners off two edges when my husband was in the bathroom. Delicious! The World Famous clam chowder was good but nothing mind blowing. Worth texting home to! :) $10 cup or $13 bowl. Spicy tuna on crunchy rice was delicious but small, but the day after I'm craving it again. Dang. Drinks were cold and strong. Lighting was dim. Service was prompt and I couldn't have asked for more. 5 stars!

    Let's 2.

Ordered the fish sandwich & fries. My wife got the grilled shrimp and beet salad. I thought my fish sandwich tasted a little strange, but I ate it. I thought it was how a fancy fish sandwich was supposed to taste. The fries were good. By the time our check came I noticed that my stomach was upset. We went to Katella Deli to pickup dessert, I couldn't wait to run in and use their bathroom. Yes, I was sick. My wife removed the cheese from her salad because she said it didn't taste right. She also said her salad had too much vinegar. She left 3/4 of her salad uneaten. After our table was cleared and we were waiting for our check, they came with our basket of bread that we realized we were supposed to receive. For almost $80 we got a FISH SANDWICH, SALAD, COFFEE, COKE, TIP & UPSET STOMACH.

Very accommodating on a busy Friday night for my 92 years old father, away from the loud music. Switch it up the food this time, order butter poach shrimp sandwich. Packed with shrimp and perfectly cooked Fresh salmon for the wife and father in law

My wife and I came here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy and bustling with activity, but we were able to get a table right away. It is a casual place where locals go to get a good meal. Our server Ollie was amazing. She was so pleasant and attentive and made for a nice evening. We started with some really good cocktails, and the fried calamari appetizer, which was very tasty. My wife had the yellowfin tuna special, and I had the halibut with a lemon sauce which was delicious. To finish we had the bananas foster. The patio was very loud, but my wife and I were still able to have a conversation and hear one another. We were also able to hear the wonderful guitar player and the unique renditions of popular tunes. All in all a great Saturday night out.

The staff here are very nice and friendly and made no mistakes on our order. The fish is so fresh and the lobster was decadent, as it was easy to pull off the meat from the tail, in addition to my medium rare steak, which I ended up taking home. Because of the super nice day, we chose dining in the patio and was perfectly happy with the live music, food and dessert of chocolate. The food reminded me of the way a restaurant should be and provided the special service of a high-end restaurant. On the weekends, try the brunch, which ends at two, or how about happy hour that starts at 3 PM. Overall, a good time was had by all!

Came in here because I was seriously craving fried fish and seafood. The vibe is cute-- we sat outside, and there was live music. It was definitely on the louder side, but still a fun atmosphere. Service was great and attentive the whole time. We started with the fried shrimp corn dogs, and they just weren't our vibe. Not crunchy enough for me, and honestly it made me crave an actual corn dog instead lol. The ceviche, though, was delicious and super fresh. They also bring out bread if you ask, and it was yummy. For my entrée, I ordered the fish sandwich, and it unfortunately fell apart the second I picked it up. Flavor was okay, but structurally... not it lol. My husband got the pasta special, and he loved it. Cleaned the entire plate and said he could've eaten more. Overall, cute place with great service, a fun vibe, and a couple standout dishes--but a few things missed the mark for me. I'd come back to try something different!

Went for the 2nd time and still had the same great experience. Seated at the covered patio with enough heater as it is raining. Service was great. Live music by Manuel which was great. He mostly sang 70s and 80s. This time I tried the cod sandwich - portion was huge and it was juicy. Calamari was light and crispy.

Hubby I dined here recently for lunch on a weekend. Place was quiet for a Saturday afternoon & the Patio seating was pretty empty so we sat outside. Service was attentive & great. We started off with cocktails which has always been solid since we've been here many times throughout the years. I had the grilled shrimp & beet salad for the first time & it was good. The salad was fresh & shrimp was seasoned & cooked well. Hubby really enjoyed his cheeseburger. I had a few bites & angus beef was super tender & juicy! The bacon was nice & crisp. The Swiss cheese melted evenly on top of the meat. The brioche bun was so soft & all the condiments blended well together.

Ask the Community - Off The Hook

Most restaurants now have the capability to separate peoples orders for payment or offer separate checks; does your restaurant have this option? Thank you in advance.

Off the Hook offers separate checks for your party.

Do they take reservations ? Can't find on Open Table, and no mechanism, statement or clues on their website. Not that I can find anyway.

There are no reservations. I've never needed to wait very long.

Is happy our only at the bar?

No way, we order off the happy hour menu from the patio all the time!

Can I use a Fish Company gift cards at Off the Hook?

Unfortunately not, we are 2 separate restaurants with different systems and ownership.

    Do they offer happy hour?

    Yes they do. WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY 3:00-6:00 SUNDAY 3:00-5:00

Do you take reservations or is it first come first server?

Hello John O., We do not take reservations during peak days and hours but limited reservations for parties of 8 or more. Hope to see you at off the hook very soon!

What days and times is happy hour offered?

    Sun-Fri 4-6

Did the Fish Company change its name? Or is Off the Hook a new place near the Fish Company?

The Original Fish Company did not change their name. Off The Hook is a long time dream of a chef driven restaurant with different food and very special cocktails. The location next door is a convenient bonus that was a matter of very lucky timing.… Read more

After we graduated, we promised to have a little reunion here as adults when we were old enough to drink. This little reunion happened recently. My little sister, who is 17, knew I was meeting my friends for dinner and asked if she could come. Since I knew we would be drinking, I called the restaurant ahead of time to ask if she could sit with us since she wouldn't be drinking. They said no. If we were drinking, she couldn't be there. I thought it was unfortunate, but I told my sister she couldn't come to dinner with us. But what was really annoying is that after we ordered alcohol, our server didn't card us. I went out of my way to uninvite my sister because they said she couldn't be there, and they didn't even check. I thought it was a dumb rule in the first place, but it was really annoying that they didn't even enforce it after I went out of my way to ask. The pork belly skewers were really good. I can see why we used to come all the time as kids. Smoky and crispy. There's a big super traditional looking grill at the front of the restaurant, so I guess they're super serious about their skewers. The okonomiyaki was good too. We decided to try the rose tteokbokki since it was a new menu item, but we were unimpressed. There were barely any toppings inside. We also got the steamed squid, but I thought it was a bit overcooked. We might've stayed a little longer, but the sight of a cockroach climbing on our table sent a chill down our spines. We told a server that we saw a cockroach, but she just stared at us blankly and walked away without doing anything. After that, we had serious issues about the perceived cleanliness of the restaurant and left immediately.  I'm disappointed. In the end, I didn't get the warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling I was yearning for. I think there were several interactions with the workers that they could have handled better. I cleared my little side quest, so I don't think I have a reason to ever return.
