This place used to be amazing; you'd walk and be greeted promptly with a smile and the view of a pristine store front and product. I'm pretty sure there's new management because, I went back today for the first time in 3 months and: 1. Was greeted by the sight of multiple fruit flies/gnats flying around the donut display; gross 2. The store is grossly understaffed, with employees walking around aimlessly. 3. The customer service is lukewarm at best I use to pass 2 donut shops to go to Shipley's, but probably wouldn't go back if it was in my neighborhood. read more

O.M.G.!!!!!!!!!! The BEST DO-NUTS EVER!!! Just noticed the location by my apartment... went in yesterday morning.. Super Clean!! And really friendly girl at the counter.. Went in for a early breakfast. Was totally amazed at the number of people working the store. They are fast and efficient. I used a coupon to get the buy one get one free Kolaches, I chose sausage with jalapeno and cheese. What I got was amazing! The Sausage Kolache was pretty awesome. I expected the same ole sausage link with diced jalapeno. I didn't expect the jalapeno slices inside the kolache bread wrapper. It was awesome! This will light your fires! I impulsively ordered online because I ran out of quarantine snacks and these donuts.... amazing. The blueberry cake donut was like biting into a soft, sweet cloud. It was the best donut I've ever had. So fresh. The other ones were good, but blueberry was the best. And the kolache was also fluffy and pretty warm, considering it was an Uber Eats delivery. Had a craving for donuts and decided to try Shipley's for the first time on a Sunday morning. Donuts were big but very dense and dry. The twist has really dense and tasteless. The bear claw was huge but barely had a sprinkling of spices in the middle. What happened to bear claws with almond paste? I was really disappointed. I could go on and on but why waste my energy? Let me first say that Shipley Do-Nuts is my favorite of all time and has been since I was a little boy growing up in the Houston area. I've been to a dozen or so locations throughout Houston, College station, Waco etc. However the McKinney Texas location is by far the worst location and just not Shipley Do-Nuts worthy. We were so excited when this location came in and were even at the grand opening at 5 AM when it opened a couple of years ago. Their donuts are rarely fresh and often times cold. When I go in I have to ask for hot glazed donuts and depending on their mood,they may or may not do it for me. The other variety of donuts actually look like they've been sitting out for quite some time ...probably several hours. Today when I went in, I asked for hot donuts which of course they weren't able to provide. The cashier went to the back to see if they had any and told me that they were "warm". So reluctantly, I went ahead and bought them take them to the car open the box and they were as cold as could be. I went back into the store to voice my concerns, and the manager wanted nothing to do with me and basically wanted me out of their store. All I really want them to understand is that their donuts do not live up to the Shipley standard. I just moved to Mckinney and was excited that there is a Shipley's right down the street from my house. I stopped by a few times to get breakfast for my families who visited and they loved it too. The staff there is always friendly and nice. I got some kolaches and donuts. My favorite Kolache is the Ham and Cheese. Let me start by saying Shipleys is my favorite donut chain. But this store has lost my business. They are so inconsistent with their filled donuts. When they first opened they were filled full as they should be but starting 4-5 weeks ago they started going CHEAP and and cutting the filling to half or LESS! Today I finally had it and actually took the dozen donuts back and spoke to the manager. I showed him 1 that had filling only the size of a quarter. So he proceeded to tear open all of the filled donuts and 4 of the 6 barely had anything (quarter size or smaller in them). So he explained to me that they set the amount of filling on the machine and they all get the same amount WHICH DIDNT EXPLAIN WHY NONE OF THE DONUTS HAD THE SAME AMOUNT FILLING IN THEM. He just didn't get it. He was nice enough to replace the dozen and I got home and they are ALL half filled or LESS! so I had to write this So no one else gets jipped! read more

So excited a Shipley's opened near me! They are my absolute favorite donuts! I went by for the first time on July 4th, I was hugely disappointed to find them closed for the holiday. Been back twice since and the donuts are great. One suggestion, make sure the filling fills the whole inside of the donut. I've had a couple that were lacking in the filling. Unfortunately I won't be coming back. I used to like their customer service until today. I purchased a dozen donuts. My kids wanted a long john and chocolate twist. The lady wanted to charge me for the equivalent of 4 donuts rather than the physical 2! She said it was a "Shipley rule" to treat the longer donuts as a double donut. Are you kidding me? I have never heard of this. Sadly they just started this rule because this was my fourth visit and was never told this. The shop has a very special place in my heart, since coming from Houston, i can personally connect to Shipley Donuts. However, this shop is different from those in Houston, sure they aren't that popular up here in North Texas, but they will be soon. Their donuts are always warm and fresh, especially the glazed donuts. They really know how to make customers feel good in the morning. Additionally, they have an amazing staff of young teens and young adults that have a great vibe and attitude to them. They make them feel like you are family. Additionally, I cannot forget the kolaches that they serve there. Their koloches are always warm and the cheese is always melted. These kolaches are like eating pillows of dough with a smokey sausage and creamy cheese in the middle. This is the same for the ham and cheese kolaches as well.
