Back before she had the tap to pay machine, she'd print out the receipt that DID NOT REQUIRE A SIGNATURE only to try to get you to tip. Now that she has the tap to pay Chase machine, it's deceptive. You press 1 to tip and 2 for no tip except the 1 is underneath a red X which makes it appear you press 1 to skip the tip. Fine, blame the machine for the terrible UI, but the fact that she called me out for tipping too little pisses me off.

I have been coming to Star Donuts for over 4 years now and aside from the occasional donuts and…read morekolaches, I've placed multiple special occasion orders (birthday donuts, sports team donuts, etc). As this was my go-to shop, I recently placed an order for birthday donuts with specific colors and decor. Upon arrival, the two owners looked at me with a surprise, as they forgot about making my donuts. Instead of apologizing, the man who I placed the order with blamed me stating he didn't know what color donuts I wanted, which was completely incorrect. Not only did he know what color I wanted, he also knew what design I wanted, as my friend and I called him together to place the order since it was for a class party. I would have left ready to come again, but due to them not apologizing to me and instead making up a false reason for not making the donuts when I just needed to get donuts and leave for the party, I will not be returning as a customer. They really need to do better with their customer service, as they've just lost one.

We love Detour Doughnuts!…read more I live about 45 minutes from here so going often is tough but we like to come for special occasions. I came for an event one time & knew I had to bring my husband back to try it. I loved it even more the second time & he now asks every weekend to drive out there. I got the mascarpone coffee. I didn't even know that was a thing. It was my new favorite coffee! My husband got a lemonade & really enjoyed it. Not pictured here are the donut holes. I really appreciate the mini apple fritters. I've never ordered them until Detour Doughnuts because I won't eat a big one. They are the perfect size and delicious. So are the regular doughnuts holes. I think the brown sugar cinnamon roll might be the best donut I've ever had. It was fantastic! But truly all of them are great. I love the texture & flavor of everything I've tried. I appreciate that their pricing is clearly marked & set up for different portion sizes. It is a bit more expensive than normal donut shops but they are also more specialized than a basic donut. For what it is, I didn't think it was overpriced. The restaurant is small but people are pretty polite about space & not hanging out too long. The customer service was excellent! We had a good time chatting with the employee that helped us. My husband's a jokster & she handled him really well. 10 out of 10 recommended! We'll be back for sure!

From the moment I walked in, the shop felt warm and welcoming, and the staff were genuinely friendly. I tried the strawberry matcha doughnut, and it was incredible. The dough was light, fluffy, soft, and buttery--the kind of texture that keeps you thinking about it long after you've finished. I also brought home the fig & mascarpone, crème brûlée, maple éclair, Dubai chocolate, and mango lassi doughnuts, and every single one was fresh, creative, and packed with flavor. It's clear they put a lot of thought into each seasonal and specialty creation. I also had a refreshing matcha lemonade that paired perfectly with the doughnuts. Between the quality of the pastries, the welcoming atmosphere, and the excellent customer service, this is a spot I'd happily recommend. If you're ever in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by--I know I'll be back for more.
