Sugar boy is a small unassuming donut shop from the outside but inside .... Still small unassuming. It ain't fancy but do them donuts make up for that. They have the standard donuts, and then the spesh ones like nutella and bisquella, which is basically biscoffy flavored nuttella. The spesh ones are instagram worthy of course. My favorite, spinach and cheese, not a donut I know. The Mrs loves the cinnamon glazed donut holes and they also have a bunch of different drinks which are good but they are kinda pricey for the amount you get. The lady who works here is always nice. I'm guessing she owns the place. She's usually flying solo so be patient and you will be rewarded with doughy goodness. read more

My new go to mom & pop donut shop. DonuI always prefer mom and pop donuts - they're inexpensive, fresh & made with love and care. As always, I got a glazed donut to test how oily, sweet, and crispy their donuts are - if you mess up a glaze donut, you'll never have my business again. We also grabbed a few kolaches, white sprinkle donut, cinnamon old fashioned, and a creme filled glazed. There is not one single thing wrong about any of these pastries. The perfect crunch (mind you we always stop by within an hour of opening time so of course the donuts are fresh), the softest inside, glaze is never overdone or too sweet, the donuts are light and fluffy and you're honestly not able to pinch more than an eighth of a teaspoon of grease out of these things. I am a very lucky gal because this place is walking distance from my home. Needless to say this is our donut shop. You cannot just have one glazed donut. It's physically impossible! My girls love their donut holes. I LOVE the chocolate glazed donuts. Their kolaches are the bomb! The staff is always so friendly and they are always giving us free donuts holes when we go and buy way too many donuts and kolaches. We found our regular local donut place! The owners were so nice and the girl at the front was also very sweet. Individual donut review: Bacon maple: so good! Exactly like you would imagine it to be. Heart: my 5 year old absolutely loved it! She also enjoyed the little candies Strawberry mochi: my 2 year old found it to difficult to chew. I've had mochi donuts before, and this one was a little too dense for me. Reesces: are you kidding me? So good! Exactly what you'd expect! Strawberry Nutella cronut: very good flavor wise but a bit dense if you're used to Paris Baguette. It was very "American" in the texture profile. Hot dog bun: friggin delicious and simple! Not too rich. Make sure you specify that you want the larger one. We got a small one and ended up squabbling over it. Donut holes: ok usually I wouldn't even bother reviewing these but they were really light and airy!! 100% recommend! Coffee: I got Hazelnut for my hubby. Picking up kolaches from here and having them for breakfast has become a Saturday morning ritual for me my boyfriend and our dog! They are delicious! I especially like that the bread doesnt get soggy even when warmed up. I've also sampled a few different items: * The danishes are good, not the best I've had but good. The cream cheese is the best in my opinion. The ones with fruit have a slight metal taste to me like they're from a can. * The "cronut" I've tried twice once filled with custard and once with cream cheese. Its kind of like a thicker, crispier donut. I didnt care much for the custard one as it was covered in raw sugar, which made it too sweet. The cream cheese one however was quite delicious and was dusted in powdered sugar instead. The cream cheese ones go pretty quickly so snatch it up if they have it! The coffee is so-so. I've ordered regular coffee and a cappuccino and neither were out of this world or very strong. *TIP* They have a machine were you can pour ready made cappuccinos like at a gas station but they also have an espresso machine behind the counter to make by hand. The only mistake I made was only ordering 2 donuts the first time. The second time I went, I decided to get a whole dozen and I may or may not have eaten half the box in one sitting. The plain glazed donuts and the donut holes are moist and divine. I doubt I'll ever find another donut in the area that comes close to how good these are. I've also had the chocolate covered donut and it's great too! The croissant kolaches are so worth it. Skip out on the regular kolaches and get the croissant breading and you will not be disappointed. We tried this place on the recommendation of a friend and I am so glad we did! They have donuts of course but so much more. I will say the glazed donuts were amazing but my absolute favorite idea they had is that they make what are normally stuffed donuts empty so you can put whatever kind of filling inside-fruit, custard etc. The prices are very reasonable. The dozen glazed were only $8. They also have kolaches which looked amazing! I will be back to try them. The one with the bacon looked especially amazing! My daughter always likes donuts from here, but honestly, I've never been impressed. Apple fritters, one of my staples, aren't big and are usually stale tasting. No donuts I've tried are any better than something you'd get from a grocery store. On the bright side, prices aren't too bad, so you don't feel like you're being taken to the cleaners while eating a sub-par donut from here. Those are always the best measure of how their donuts truly are. I love big, fluffy yeast-risen donuts, don't really crave cake donuts as much. I stopped in today on a late Tuesday morning and got a glazed donut plus their fruit+custard cronut. The glazed donut here was tiny and light. Since the donut was small, the glaze was overpowering. There's a picture posted with someone's comments saying best glazed donuts ever and that is a total lie. I've had plenty of donuts and their glazed wasn't better than the rest. The fruit and custard cronut was ok. The dough was chewy but needing a bit more crust on the outside. The custard and fruit didn't really add much spark. Didn't feel like this place was that special. Wow! Didn't know what to expect as this Donut shop popped up about thirty seconds drive from my home. "Boy" was I pleasantly surprise. Great selection of donuts and other breakfast sandwich items. Some unexpected items like frosted waffles which our little girls are eager to try. Great prices, great selection and even better customer services including some nice freebies each time I came in over their grand opening weekend. I visited this new donut shop that just opened up next to my house. I'm going to be in serious trouble. This is a family run business and I had a chance to get to talk to them about what makes a great donut and the owner/baker had his daughter give me a donut to try for my opinion and these are really good donuts!!! I tried their Croissant strawberry and Nutella donut and it was fantastic and worth every calorie!! I also got a nice assortment of a few other donuts they have and still working my way through them but the plain glazed they gave me as a sample was very good. I highly recommend you stop by and try them. The most import detail is they are open to 8PM when most donut shops close at 2pm in Texas. They also have coffee and bottle tea as well. Terrible donut shop. Donuts are always stale & not fresh, especially the donut holes. They leave them sitting out with the bag open already prepared which allows the air to get to them. Maybe they should fold the bag closed. I always ask for the ones in the case but always happen to be handed the ones not sitting open on the counter. This was our favorite spot for weekend donuts since moving here. The owners have always been very kind and thoughtful. Recently however, there have been new hires of college age-ish who are very annoying to work with. We have tried three times to come back here but I think we are done with how inconsiderate these kids are. They give us a feel of being rushed during selection of donuts bc as soon as a selection is made, they immediately say "and what else?" Without giving us a moment to browse the selection. After we select our donuts, they literally squish them all into a bag. Then donut holes get squished on top of them. Who wants to eat a flattened donut? The donuts are light along the lines of a donut shop like Shin's (just not quite as tasty). The service was very friendly. Plain Glaze - Above Average. Crisp with good flavor Boston Cream Donut - Very good. Crisp with pretty nice bavarian cream filling. The chocolate is tastier than most places Cinnamon twist - Slightly above average Devil's Food - Just Average at best. Not near the top cake donut I have tried. Maple - Above Average. The Cronut - Maybe I came on a bad day. I have tried a number of Cronuts in the area, and it was the worst I had ever had. I couldn't even eat more than two bites. It so dry and very little taste at all. So many people raved about these, I expected much better than what I received. I almost feel like they were leftovers from the day before, it was that bad. If this was your neighborhood donut shop, you could do worse for sure but it is no where near the top tier of donuts shops Dallas has to offer. read more
