I've been to Singapore multiple times always as an avid eater in hawker centers. I've been to Shioketh several times since they've opened. I'm torn. Rate them on authenticity or rate them on bringing the flavors of Singapore adapted for Hawaii's taste? If authenticity is the goal, the laksa; noodles so toothsome and LONG it's impossible to eat with a spoon, coconut sambal vs the fermented goodness of sambal balacan (fermented shrimp), no seafood flavor because there are no cockles. And before you say, but you probably judge all laksa against the tourist trap 328 Katong Laksa, my go to is actually Sungai Road Laksa that I first visited in 2017. If taking into account Hawaii's taste, the laksa is EXTREMELY flavorful and fragrant. Crushed galangal, kafir lime leaves, spices, all leaving a residue at the bottom of the bowl of creamy coconut broth spiked hard with warming spice heat. Great to drink alone. Using "sponges", ie fried tofu skin, fish balls, shrimp, all help bring that tasty soup to the mouth. The ginger fried chicken with chicken rice, a flavor bomb. Nothing subtle about the thick, heavily cooked five spice forward coating and warming spice heat. Oddly it works in a sweet chili aioli but better with their house made chili oil / sauce. Very well made chicken rice pairs with. From beef rendang to nasi lemak, flavors are huge but nothing screams true Singapore hawker. Regardless, the food taste great.

I still need to visit Singapore because of their notoriously good food scene. Until that day comes, I am settling for dining at Singaporean restaurants, such as Shioketh here. My friends and I have been waiting to try Shioketh because of their limited hours of operation: a four-hour window (11:00-15:00) on select Saturdays. Given this timing challenge, we opted to try the whole menu on the occasion of our first dining experience here. That day, the menu included the following: Ginger fried chicken w/ Fragrant chicken rice, Singaporean laksa + rice noodle + shrimp & fish balls, Fried pork wontons, Sambal goreng, Blooming eggs, Pandan waffle + gula Melaka & cream, and the Combo Deal of Pandan Iced Coffee + Kaya sweet bun. Everything was delicious. Seriously. Order everything if you can (and are eating as a group). Notable aspects (but again remember that everything was delicious): the blooming eggs were delightfully unique in texture. I was also impressed by the ginger fried chicken with fragrant chicken rice. (I love Southeast Asian style chicken rice.) The desserts were also delightfully new for me: the pandan waffle was well complimented by gula Melaka (a sweet syrup which I am hoping to consume more of soon). Additionally, I hadn't had Kaya toast in a while, and I love that they used King's Hawaiian sweet rolls to make the Kaya toast. Genius. Genuinely. I'm going to copy that.

Lunch in Palolo, Honolulu, Hawaii... It took me a while to figure out when Shioketh was open. It's only operational on Saturdays between 11am and 3pm. Very limited hours! Andrea was working the counter... she's awesome! She knew the menu well and asked if whole milk is okay in the Pandan Iced Coffee. Great question because I am lactose intolerant! She substituted with a dairy-free milk! It was great! Andrea also explained that most of the menu items are spicy. I had to get the Blooming Eggs which is not spicy, but it's deep-fried. I eventually got tired of the oiliness, but the first few bites were delicious! Give Shioketh a try if you like exotic, Singaporean food! Go early for better parking - even though there's free street parking in this residential neighborhood. It's crowded! Inside, the space is bright and cute, but there wasn't enough air-conditioning for me... shucks!

I've had Shioketh on my radar but since they are a pop up in Hapa Market open only on Saturday between 11am-3pm, I always forget about them. After a recent ROTD, I decided to finally go check them out. Since they are a pop up, their full menu isn't available every Saturday and they only offer the specials they post on their social media. I reached out to them on Instagram regarding this but it took them a day to get back to me due to how busy they are when they are open. After a couple of weeks of checking out their menu for Saturday, we finally saw items we wanted to try so I made an order online. I highly recommend you ordering online and choosing your pick up time. You'll thank everyone who recommends this later. When I arrived to pick up our take out order, the parking lot was packed! Dine in was full and there were people waiting for a table outside. I didn't expect them to be so busy but I'm happy to see them doing so well. Singaporean cuisine needs to be more available. Fortunately I got the last parking spot to run in and grab my order. Due to some traffic, I arrived about 10 minutes after my pick up time but my order was ready. Customer service was friendly and you help yourself to utensils on the side. Our order was 2 Beef Rendang with a side of Spicy Sambal Goreng and a side order of Blooming Eggs. You have to order the Blooming Eggs! It's hella legit. The combo dish was delicious and we loved the flavors. Worthy of all their 5 star reviews and we can't wait to try more of their menu.

It was a rainy Saturday when we got here. But we were fortunate to have made it just the same coz this place has a very limited hours of operation. The menu on that day listed Laksa and Beef rendang with the option to add the blooming egg. Our group ordered both laksa and beef rendang without the blooming egg. All four of us agreed that everything was delicious! I had the beef rendang which I found to be saucy (which I liked very much coz I just love saucy foods) A bit spicy but tolerable. Serving was generous. I ordered the pandas coffee to go and that hit the spot. Limited seating and limited parking though street parking seems to be allowed in that residential neighborhood. Hole in the wall kind of place but owner and staff were all jovial and very pleasant. Given their limited hours of operation and our limited stay in Honolulu, it will not be possible to come back to taste their other offerings. But I strongly recommend this place to visitors and locals alike.

Found another Okinawan owned food business on Oahu! Shioketh serves Singaporean Street Food! Chef/Owner Emily Terukina is from Singapore and cooks up legit Singaporean cuisine, popping up at Hapa Market & Grill every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm. The specials rotate every week, so check their IG to see what will be on special that week. Their drinks are lovely as well. Save room for dessert! The pandan waffle is ono and the piping hot kaya toast was amazing. Note: Not all of their dishes are spicy. My mom enjoyed the Blooming Egg. Warning tho: The dishes that are spicy, like the Beef Rendang, has a heat that just keeps building. The special this week was Punggol Mee Goreng: A beloved noodle dish from Singapore's Punggol district. Wok-fried egg noodles tossed with succulent shrimp and tender squid in a sweet-savory tomato sambal sauce, topped with fresh chives. You can be like me and get it "No Spice" if you can't handle the heat. Follow them on IG to find out the weekly specials. https://www.instagram.com/shioketh/ Pre-order items from Thursday afternoon at: https://shioketh.com/

I finally got to try Shioketh, 2 weekends in a row and I LOVE it, I am a fan! I am normally not in town on a Saturdays or on island due to travels but yay! I wish Shioketh has a permanent location but that would be so bad for me, I would make a stop so often! I don't know of any place that serves Singaporean food except for SingMaTei when they had their shop at Makai Market. I like Singaporean food for the very unique flavors and ingredients! Shioketh is a pop up shop located at the Hapa Market, I believe open 1 or 2 days a week usually on a Saturday. Best to check their social media page for pop up hours and menu. Shioketh does not take phone orders but they do take on-line orders. I hope this pop survives, since I love all my my orders so far and do plan to be back again for more! Please support this local small buisness pop up, even though it may be out of the way for all of us but make the most of hanging out east side on Saturday! During my very first visit to Shioketh, I had about 20 minutes to kill before meeting with friends for lunch, got an order of the Sambal Goreng, vegetarian dish made with stir-fried tofu, long beans with side rice & Kaya sweet bun. I loved the flavors of Sambal Goreng and the sweet bun, came with coconut pandan jam. Yums! This past Saturday, I was so excited, I made a quick stop before their closing time of 6 pm, I ordered blooming eggs, Sambal Goreng, side of fragrant rice ( rice with chicken broth) and buko pandan coffee. Wow, after taking a sip of the buko pandan, it was so good! I didn't want to drink it too fast and wanted to enjoy every sip! The blooming eggs was unique, a little on the sweet side, I miss eating pork floss- sure brings back memories of my childhood when we ate pork floss and rice. Shioketh has different menu every week, nexts on my list to try are the specials for the day and the buko pandan waffles! This is my kinda food since I do see alot of those Instagram vids with Singaporean dishes and makes me want to try them badly. Staff are very friendly, food, drinks, and sweets are legit good and authentic! Make plans to check out Shioketh on a Saturday. They open from 11am-2pm, then break for one hour and open from 3-6pm.

When I heard that Shioketh finally put laksa on this weekend's menu, I nearly wept. Months ago I wrote in my first review that I hoped they'd add it one day, and here we are. Manifestation works, folks. Fresh off a trip to Singapore, my laksa standards are sky-high... and this bowl cleared the bar, did a backflip, and stuck the landing. Absolute knockout. The broth is rich and velvety, the spice sings without setting your face on fire, and nothing is watered down for "safe" palates. Authentic, bold, and gloriously unapologetic. Emily & co didn't hold back, and I love them for it. It tastes like a one-way ticket back to the hawker stalls, minus the airfare. This isn't just comfort food, it's call-your-friends-and-gloat food. The kind of dish that ruins you for laksa anywhere else on the island. Shioketh, you've reminded me of exactly why I fell in love with your spot. Bravo. Dear Yelp: how do I give them 6 stars?

Weekend lunch date with Dumboz on one of the pop-ups in Hapa Market at Palolo Valley. FOOD. BEEF RENDANG (A dry curry made with fork-tender beef which has been slow-cooked over four hours with spices and coconut milk, then fried with a braising liquid until it caramelizes around the meat. Served with rice and side salad) WATERMELON CUCUMBER SPRITZER (A refreshing fruit spritzer served with mint and cool cucumber slices) All I can say here is - HEAVEN FOR MY BELLY. This exact food reminds me of my college days. And those were happy days. Although it might be too overcooked for other people it is still worth the try. The dish is so flavorful, bold and savory. Perfectly paired with rice! The drink is so refreshing and perfectly paired with it as it flushes down all the goodness. Mahalo Shioketh for healing my inner college days. Checkout their IG account (@shioketh) for an updated menu and their opening hours. Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow Yeeps.

Know that the menu rotates week to week so it's not always the same. Looks like a 3 to 4 week rotation. In this way the choices are always fresh but if u want the Nasi Lemak, you will have to wait a few weeks! Staff is very friendly and you can definitely hear the Singlish (Singaporean English) from the kitchen. Service is a bit slow - looks like they make each on order. So relax and hang loose. The food is worth it! We had the Crispy Wonton Noodle and the Punggol Mee Goreng. Both were very authentic and good. Had the right spicy kick and quantity wise they were just right. We also tried the Lychee Iced Tea and the Pandan Iced Coffee. They were both feast for the eyes as well as to the taste buds! Cost wise it seems a bit pricy but everything eating out today is. So no different. Just don't convert it to Singaporean or Malaysian dollars... Finally, Shioketh is pronounced as Shi-Ok-eth. It translates to the best of the best! Come try it!

This is such a surprise for me. I am just glad that there's a Singaporean food here that will surely satisfy for those who craves it. Came here for lunch and we were greeted happily by the staffs. They were so friendly and despite the busy situation they were able to show the Aloha to their patrons. There are several chairs and tables available to dine-in if you wish to. So far the environment is clean and welcoming. Got Blooming Eggs (deep fried omelette bloomed in hot oil and topped with sweet soy sauce, pork floss, green onions and shallots). Surprisingly it was so good. It kind'a look weird for an omelette but the moment I got my first forkful taste it was simply a blast in my mouth. The flavors are there. It was seasoned well and t'was my first time to have pork floss and I love it tbh. Paired a drink with Watermelon Cucumber Spritzer and couldn't be more refreshing and perfect pair. So good that I want to order one more but the wifey stopped me, lol and got water instead. Haha. Anyhow, this pop-up is worth the visit and their food are so Ono. They round their menu every month so keep updated through their social media account. One pop-up restaurant in Pālolo Valley at a time.

    Fried Chicken w/Curry sauce

Not sure what it was called, but their fried chicken katsu with like a curry sauce was best i ever tasted!! AMAZING!

Having grown up in Indonesia and Singapore, I had to come check this place out! We ordered the ayam penyet and the pandan coffee and it definitely did not disappoint. Portion was a little small for its price, but the food was so good. The chilis was so authentic and good! The pandan coffee was great too! It was just the right amount of sweetness! The place was a little hot, especially during the day, and the space was pretty small. The servers were super friendly and told us the owner's background and their love for food. Definitely worth checking out!

    Delicious!

Invited 3 of my friends and my boyfriend to try out Loliana's private Indonesian cooking class with me. Here's how the process goes. A day before the cooking class she will send you directions of where to park at her apartment and then she will meet you on the visitor floor. Once you enter in the apartment, there will be a table of all the ingredients of all the foods you will be cooking today. We then took a picture in front of the table of ingredients with our cooking certificates (best to take the picture now so you won't look tired haha). We put on our aprons and washed our hands to get ready to watch Loliana do some cooking demonstrations. Here's the food we chose for the lesson: Team Veggies: *Balinese spring rolls *Gado gado salad rolls *Vegetarian Nasi goreng *Cauliflower chicken wings with buffalo sauce Team Chicken: *Balinese chicken spring rolls *Chicken Nasi goreng *Chicken satay My biggest recommendation is to start the cooking lesson early morning like 7am or 8am because you'll be cooking for 4-5 hours. Some of the sauces to add in the meats are tedious to prepare so Loliana premade it in advance to help cut down the hours but she will show what ingredients was needed to make it. It was a really fun hands on cooking experience! The dish that I enjoyed making the most was the Chicken satay! I would most recommend trying out this cooking experience!
