I've been all over the world and I love seafood. This was the closest I could get to fresh seafood in Aruba or south Caribbean. It's absolutely delicious. Everything tastes amazing. Ordered to-go/online on a Monday, it wasn't busy at all. I got 4lbs of crawfish since crab station had run out of theirs so I decided to give this place a shot, wasn't worth the money. I definitely was not served LIVE crawfish but probably frozen, it was just 4lbs of very small and soft shelled crawfish, some of them were even cold. Was not good to eat, I was able to eat around 5-7 pieces and decided to throw away the rest because of how bad it was! Had a great experience last night! We had clam chowder, wings, and each got a tray of fried shrimp and fries. The food was fresh, the wings were well sauced, good service and yummy drinks. We ordered takeout tonight for dinner. It was our first time ordering from here. When my husband got home with the food I noticed my order was missing half of it. We called the restaurant and spoke with the manager Bryce. He asked if we wanted to come back to get the rest. I told him I would. When I got there they had a whole new complete meal for me. I used to love this place but in the last 1 1/2 year,this location has gone down. The amount of food has decreased while the prices have gone up. I had also noticed when I'd grabbed my pickup order that the sit down area wasn't crowded like it used to be. I thought maybe they would improve with the food but today was the last straw. What we ordered: 2 waters; a shiner; a peach mule; chowder; side of broccoli; side salad with blue cheese; 1lb of shrimp. What we got: 2 waters with something red and slimmey all over one glass ; a bottle of beer instead of draft ; cold broccoli that wasn't fully steamed but in very tasty butter sauce; a side Cesar salad , verytasty and warm chowder and 1 lb of shrimp that almost all were not cleaned . I had to scrape out all of the poop (1 was cut and cleaned properly from the whole lb) and several weren't even cut so I had to break it up to clean it. I told the waiter about the cup, but just got a new one from the bar since I knew it would take forever. I also mentioned the cold broccoli, but it was mostly for the baby, so we kept it. My husband didn't even bring up the wrong beer or the wrong salad for the sake of us just getting out. I used the gloves and handled the poopy shrimp- we were hungry and needed to get out. It took forever... to be greeted, order, get food, etc. it was Saturday night around 7 maybe. Pretty busy but still many tables available. I'm feeling generous to give 2 stars since it was so mixed, but we did Eat it. Maybe if they weren't busy it wouldn't have been bad, but we have no reason to go back. We got here at 7:00PM and it is now 8:25PM. Told it would be 30 mins, after that time was up "at least 40". We've been waiting only for the hostess to inform us "well I'm not sure how my manager has everything arranged with the seating right now"... what? On top of countless skips in the seating order, they managed to somehow skip the party waiting next to us 2 consecutive times as well. There is not management in site, the tables are filthy, not all staff members are wearing gloves, and the guests are not appropriately socially distanced. We were trying to celebrate a birthday tonight that was pretty much ruined due to the lack of consideration, cleanliness, and communication combined. My waiter forgot my cocktail, told me it should be at the bar, only for me to watch her walk over to an empty well and ring it in at the same time. The problems go on and on. read more

We have been trying to give this restaurant a chance. The food is good. The location is good. It is clean and I love the hand washer! But we will not be returning after tonight. They consider Shiner Bock an import beer and will not budge. I protested with the managers and their combined lack of customer service has driven me to write this and vow to never return. Coming from the west coast, I have yet to find a shrimp boil that compares to Boiling Crab and this one comes pretty close. The kitchen sink seasoning was rich and flavorful. Price was comparable to others but I chose to pay extra $5 for naked shrimp. The cocktails looked delicious so will try next time when I'm not driving. Highly satisfied with my experience today. Now I know why the Shell Shack has a 2 star rating on Yelp and the Crab Station has a 4 star rating. I should have read the reviews first. Both restaurants are within 2-3 miles from me. I usually go to the Crab Station, where the food and service are great. I dine in and have takeout. When the Shell Shack opened, I was excited to have options. A co-worker was always bragging about their other location. Last night I decided to order takeout. The young lady who answered the phone seemed distracted or disinterested. I ordered the VIP, a pound of shrimp and a side of sausage with the garlic butter sauce and a side of the medium flavored sauce. She took my order and hung up. I called back to ask for the total and was told she didn't know, because all she does is take the order. The Crab Station would have given me the total. When I arrived to pick up my order, the young lady at the front NEVER acknowledged me. She was on what appeared to be a personal call. I stood there literally in front of her for what seemed longer, but may have been 2-3 minutes and she never even said she'd be right with me. Finally, a gentleman came over and asked if I were waiting to be seated. I told him I was there for a pick up. Now the young lady looks up and advises me I need to go to the bar. Food: $70.00 The VIP included a pound of shrimp, 2 crab clusters, corn, potatoes and sausage. I had to laugh when I saw the shrimp, because it did not look like a pound. At least not compared to a pound at the Crab Station. They put the medium hot sauce on my food instead of on the side, as requested (I wanted garlic butter on the food). There was nothing special about the sauce. It didn't even have a kick. The shrimp was over cooked and tasted like rubber. I know it wasn't King Crab, the crab clusters looked like the found the smallest ones they could. The best part of my meal were the potatoes. They were actually very good. My overall experience with the Shell Shack was not good. Would I go back NO and I would advise my friends and family not to either. read more

We liked the Dallas location so we were looking forward to this location closer to us. We were disappointed. My husband and I came in on a Wednesday night around 8pm. There were about 20 tables empty but asked us to wait to get tables cleaned up. Made no sense to wait 10 minutes for them to clean up a table when there were so many empty clean tables available. Most of the things on the menu was market price which is understandable since it's supposedly fresh seafood. But why do they have to make it so hard to find the price per pound on their walls. One wall will have the price for crab, then you have to find crawfish pricing on another wall. It's like a word search. When I asked our waitress for the prices, she even had a hard time locating the pricing on the wall. Then after we ordered, it took over 30 mins for our food to come out. Once it did come out, my order was wrong and it took another 20 minutes to come out. Food wasn't as good as I remember it in Dallas. Service to refill water was really slow as well. They comped our wing appetizer for the mistake, but I still probably won't be back. Crab Station across the highway has better food and service. read more

I came the day after opening day, so I try to be understanding of little hiccups of running a new business, but man I had a terrible experience. I was with a large group of about 11 and service took FOREVER. I ordered the crab that you pay $5 more to have de-shelled (since I am terrible at it and did not want my group to wait on me to fiddle with them). We waited 30-45 minutes for food, and my coworkers all received their food piece by piece and far apart. My plate was the only plate missing. The waiter then tells me that I could not have it de-shelled today, and asked if I could de-shell it. I said "Not a problem". I then promptly expected my food as the last person. I had to wait ANOTHER 20-30 minutes for my crab. I receive my crab only to receive ONE HALF OF A SET OF CRAB legs. That is only half a pound in typical crab boil spots. I called the waiter over and asked if this is typically what is considered a pound? And he quickly brushed me off and said "I mean they weight it on the scale. It's a lb. I can grab the manager."I just said forget it...At the end of the meal, I get up and walk down to the other end of my table and my coworker says, "They only gave me 1/2 a lb of crab and I ordered a pound." I was glad to know that I wasn't crazy. She said that she mentioned it as well, but nothing came of it. In the end...I paid the 1lb price for 1/2 pound of mediocre boiled crab, with no apology or anything type of small freebie to encourage me to give this restaurant another chance. I kept hearing this place is very good. I go to the website and didn't see anything for online ordering. I call and am taken through several options for each location, I select the location and then am told via automated system that I'm being texted a link because orders are placed online. I click the link and it tells me online ordering is temporarily unavailable. I go to Google to look for a direct phone number, which there isn't one. I go back through the automated system a 3rd time because the 2nd time I selected the wrong location. I select I'm calling for something other than ordering & get a live person. I tell her my issue & ask can she take my to go order. She says they turned off the online ordering system earlier because they were busy but that I could come up there to place my order. I'm told they have a long wait time for orders so that defeats the purpose of online ordering. I'm going to go elsewhere, this is truly inconvenient and the process moving forward should be revamped. read more

This may seem weird, but the best thing about the Shell Shack is their hand washing station. State of the art, super cool, touch free hand washing. Unfortunately the food and service could be better. First of all, the Crawfish Tater Tots had way more tater than crawfish. I could hardly identify any crawfish in them. They were marginal at best. I also wasn't thrilled that we were there during happy hour and their happy hour "special" is $1 off drinks....but it didn't include any of their $10-$12 signature cocktails. Really? I can go to Grub next door and get a $5 cocktail that actually tastes like it has alcohol in it. There were three of us....my husband and son ordered the fried shrimp, I splurged for the VIP Platter...for $45! Crab legs, boiled shrimp, corn, potatoes, hush puppies and fries. (My 13 yr old son wanted to share). Well....my husband and son got their plates and mine didn't come until they were almost done eating. NOT acceptable. I got no silverware, and noting to crack my crab legs open or put the shells in. In fact our waiter didn't come back to the table until he delivered our check. My husband went to the bar himself to get a Sprite refill for our son. I realize this is the first week they were open, but I'm very disappointed that we spent $121 for dinner for three and the service and food were way below our expectations. I also didn't like that all of the flavor on the shrimp and crab was on the outside of the shell. The shrimp was over cooked and rubbery. So excited that Shell Shack has finally opened a location in Fort Worth! I love the location and the atmosphere! I got a XX bottle that was nice and cold and my mom got an Adult Strawberry Limeade. I'm a beer person but have always wanted to try the Straqberry Lemonade. It's a nice refreshing, summer type drink with fresh cut strawberries in it. All the ingredients blended well together. Started off with the Calamari. It was lightly battered and seasoned perfectly. The mixed peppers on top really complimented it well. This was a great size starter to entertain our stomachs but not fill them. I ordered 1 lb of "Uptown Style" (no shell) Shrimp, 1.25 lb of the Bairdi Crab and and order of potatoes all in the Kitchen Sink Hot. The hot had enough kick but not so much that it took away from the flavor of the seasoning or the seafood. It was perfect! Mom ordered the buffalo shrimp. It came with 8 fried shrimp tossed in buffalo sauce. She ordered mild. I had enough food in front of me to keep me full for a week so I did not get a chance to try hers, but she ate it up and enjoyed it very much! We were very excited to go to Shell Shack when we say it open. When we arrived they had 5-6 open tables but made us wait 20 minutes. Once we sat down it took 10 mins for the waiter to come over. We placed our drink order and appetizer. The Tater tots were average. We ordered our food and then the wait began. We waited for over 50 minutes for our food to come out. My wife ordered a side salad and they dint bring that out until we asked. On top of all the delays the meals were WAY over priced and nothing special.
