Let me the start review with the quality of the seafood...it's really good considering it's Fort Worth. We opted for 2lbs of the Snow Queen Crab Legs and a 1lb of shrimp with a couple boiled eggs, corn and broccoli. The Broccoli was cooked to mush. The eggs were OK as was the corn. The issue is the Cajun seasoning. It's horrible. I can't describe it other than saying it's really bad and greasy. In fact, the bottom was swimming in oil...what ever Cajun seasoning used is overpowering and unlike anything I've ever tasted...and I'm in and out of Louisiana all the time. Most boils the seasoning makes the boil and that's the case here. read more

Overpriced and underwhelming to say the least. 1 pound of crawfish with no sides for $10? If you know anything about crawfish, that isn't much. I should have just gone to Razzoo's across the street, but was trying to support a local restaurant. The platters are even laughably expensive, the cheapest being $39.99 and it's for 1! I was even charged for my salad dressing on my $4 side salad. I asked the waitress and she said "oh it must be because you got the kitchen sink ranch" and didn't bother to check. The menu lists all the dressings together next to the salads with no extra cost. I chose not to make a big deal over 75 cents, but I won't be back. read more

Shell Shack has been a go-to impromptu night-out spot where we can both get something we enjoy in a fun atmosphere. Service is a little uneven, but makes up for it by being personable. Few places have a menu that services both of our weird, shifting food requirements. For me here, it's the 10 count lemon pepper wings. For her it's a pound of boiled crawfish and five wings. We ordered this for weeks until the wing shortage doubled (yes that's a full 2X) the price, pricing us out of date night visits here. The dining room is large with glass on three sides and an unfinished ceiling. We like to sit along the back wall at the windows overlooking the park behind. Outdoor seating is available on picnic tables on the east side of the building, free from the heat of the Texas afternoon. Behind this strip of restaurants is a shared, curated outdoor space with cornhole, a playground, and a city-maintained low-land walking trail with Texas vegetation and a creek. We always top off dinner with a walk along the water. The area is set down low enough to shield it from road noise and any sense of the urban surroundings. We have had generally good experiences with the service, though occasionally the servers seem a little checked out. The managers have some by and taken care of us. We like the Shell Shack and look forward to returning when wing prices return to normal. read more

As someone who works as a manager in the hospitality industry, I understand the demands and pressures of days like Mother's Day. I also want to start by saying the crawfish here is always fantastic, and it's the reason we come back time and time again. However, tonight's experience left a lot to be desired--specifically due to the lack of attention from management behind the bar. Despite it being a busy evening, there is no excuse for a manager to ignore guests, especially after being informed twice that we had been sitting for over 15 minutes without any service. What was even more frustrating was that this manager appeared to be doing inventory or some other back-end task, while two bar guests sat waiting--completely overlooked. As someone in the same field, I know how important it is to multitask, but guest experience should never be sacrificed. It's truly disappointing to see leadership set that kind of tone, especially on such a significant day. Because of this, we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. Absolutely TERRIBLE!!! I ordered a pound of "kitchen sink" flavored queen crab, sausage, broccoli, and corn and an additional pound of snow crab via delivery... it was inedible! There was so much caked on seasoning it was disgusting! I've had many crab restaurants with what's considered all of the seasonings and I've never experienced anything like this. The sausage was old and mushy, the corn was burned, the broccoli was mushy, the crab was covered in soaked on brown seasoning as well, that was not tasty at all and I couldn't bear to eat any of it after tasting it. My niece ordered crawfish and it was ROTTEN! I will NEVER order from this restaurant again. I wasted over $200 on this! I highly do NOT recommend!!! read more

We ate at this place for the first time today because we had a $25 coupon, but sadly no coupon could ever make us want to go back. When we first sat down, our waitress asked if it was our first time here, and when we told her it was, she said everyone she's served today have been first-time customers. Looking back, this is not surprising as I can't imagine many people wanting to return here. We started by ordering two Caesar salads, but one bite of each made us send them back. The lettuce was old and wilted, and the salads were drenched in a very strange, almost foul tasting dressing. I ordered the whole lobster which was about as overcooked and chewy as lobster can possibly be. My husband ordered the MVP and the crab was pretty good, but very small (imagine the sad crab legs you usually get at an Asian buffet on a Tuesday afternoon). The shrimp was not all properly deveined, the potatoes had black rotten spots all over them, and the corn was overcooked to the point of being mushy. After the meal, we were tempted to use the hand-washing station until we saw what appeared to be mold growing in the bottom of it and decided to use the dirty sinks in the back room instead. The worst part is that had we not had a $25 coupon, this subpar meal for two would have cost almost $100. This place was seriously awful all the way around in our opinion, and we would suggest spending your money elsewhere. read more

The calamari appetizer was made as close to perfection as can be, and the VIP entree of crab legs, 1 lb of shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage had a marinade (mild seasoning per our request) made in front of us via a bag. $70 later, we depart the restaurant with full bellies. Probably the only thing that was lacking was probably the service. We arrived around 2 PM, and didn't know whether we had to seat ourselves. The server seemed like he didn't really want to be there, and didn't really suggest anything. Nonetheless, we figured how the menu worked (you also have to use the blackboard by the bar area as reference). Wil consider returning. The price is right for seafood of good quality. read more
