A surprise when going on a lunch date with the Mrs in late October 2019! The calamari appetizer was made as close to perfection as can be, and the VIP entree of crab legs, 1 lb of shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage had a marinade (mild seasoning per our request) made in front of us via a bag. $70 later, we depart the restaurant with full bellies. Probably the only thing that was lacking was probably the service. We arrived around 2 PM, and didn't know whether we had to seat ourselves. The server seemed like he didn't really want to be there, and didn't really suggest anything. Nonetheless, we figured how the menu worked (you also have to use the blackboard by the bar area as reference). Wil consider returning. The price is right for seafood of good quality. read more

Just disappointing overall. The CEO addresses comments on Google but not on here, so left feedback on Google as well. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT Hostess didn't ask if we preferred a hi-top or table. Lots of empty tables. Not being waited on for first 10 minutes. Watered down iced tea. Wrong boiled order dropped off at our table. Waiter not checking with us frequently. No Manager addressed our concerns. Staff loitering behind bar instead of circulating the floor. Plates range from $30 to $130, a service tip is quite substantial. Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The only decent thing was our server who was sweet and accommodating. We came in at 12AM, ordered appetizers and some desserts, and an hour has passed but we are still missing half of our items. The place is empty except for us and another 2-top table. I understand if they were busy and kitchen was backed up, however, it took too long to receive FRIES, CALAMARI, AND HUSHPUPPIES. I asked them to go ahead and take off the fried cheesecake considering it's been 30 minutes and they basically refused saying they were on the way. They either need to hire more kitchen staff or close early if they cannot keep up with orders. Hushpuppies were dry, fried cheesecake did not resemble cheesecake, fries came late and burnt (but they took it off). Oysters and calamari was good. read more

My two sons in law and two grandsons and I went the day before Thanksgiving to celebrate one son in law being in Texas for the Holiday. We had appetizers of Alligator and Calamari, 3 and 1/2 pounds of shrimp, Chicken Fingers, snow crab and potatoes. We were so stuffed that we were not to excited about Thanksgiving the next day. Well we are here... I'm from the east coast and love crabs. Came here the other day... not many customers maybe like 20 of us and Brittany was my server. So it was for my birthday and I wanted to make it special. Eat three pounds of crabs and steamed shrimp with butter and garlic. But that wasn't to come to pass. You see Our drinks were forgotten... while talking to Brittany about what I wanted she didn't have her active listening ears on and brought me a bag with my first order of crabs dirty with potatoes, and eggs and strangely enough my shrimp. When I spoke to the manager about it she points to her pad. Yes dollface I said I wanted shrimp after my crabs so I was more than livid. So I ate my one plate and left the shrimp because that wasn't how I wanted them. Now just to be clear as a server I tip other servers even when I get poor service but this place has the potential to be great but service 100% sucks read more

I want to start this off by saying that I used to frequent this place a lot before the pandemic. The quality of their food has decreased, but today was by far the worst experience I've ever had. They recently updated their menu , which now includes a variety of different new dishes and appetizers, which I was excited to try. That also came with a very obvious price increase since I am someone who has frequented this place over the past three years. My go to is the calamari, but I didn't get that today. I instead got their Buffalo chicken sandwich, which I've gotten plenty of times before, and I thoroughly used to enjoy. I also got their spinach dip, which is new. My boyfriend got their alligator tenders (which are actually nuggets) and fried pickles (new). Our total for just the food was $50, and that's only bc the appetizers were heavily discounted for happy hour. I don't think we received $50 worth of food. They put literally a spoonful of buffalo sauce on the bread of my sandwich. The chicken didn't have sauce at all. I was disappointed bc i actually really enjoy the taste of their buffalo sauce. The sandwich came with 10 fries, literally 10 fries. I counted bc i was in disbelief. The alligator nuggets are $15 and do not come with a side. You only get 6 ounces of alligator. The waitress told us this. I dont think thats worth it. They gave me literal crumbs as chips for my spinach dip. It's like they gave me the crushed up crumbs at the bottom of the bag. Here's a pic for proof. The dip itself wasnt tasty; i would give it a 5/10. Idk what cheese they use but it has a terrible aftertaste. I think maybe too much Parmesan cheese. I didn't say anything bc we were already home and hungry but this is the service that they think is acceptable AND they still expect you to tip them. I don't feel bad for not tipping for a to go order but ill provide one if the server was really nice while we waited for our food. This man was not (Dallas). He took forever to acknowledge us at the bar, didn't offer any water (ive been offered water while ive waited for my food every other time ive been there), and didnt provide us updates as to they the food was taking so long. We waited 25 minutes vs the 10 min that he stated it would take. There was one other couple in there, so they def we not busy. I dont go there for seafood boils anymore bc the prices are just way too high to justify. Id rather buy the seafood and make it at home myself, so i cant review anything there that isnt an appetizer or chicken sandwich. I would say that i do not recommend or refer people to this place anymore. The handful of things that i enjoy on their menu are now too expensive for the amount that you receive i will no longer be supporting Shell Shack. There are other places in the area to try seafood boils and appetizers at. read more

On top Of that has to wait almost an hour for my to go order only for me to get home and realize that the order was wrong/imcomplete. Items were missing, specially my grill shrimp. To top if off I call the restaurant- requested to speak to the manager and lets say he was not the most helpful person of all. He put me on hold for over 20 minutes! I recently tried this restaurant. When I arrived, I thought it was closed because it was absolutely dead. That worked out fine for me. Service was excellent! The crab boils are spendy. Basically, it's priced ala carte. So be prepared to spend. When the boil came out, it didn't look very appetizing, just because of the color but it was delicious! Who doesn't have internet for guests these days... loss of a star alone for that alone... they have been open for years and rely on the restaurants around them to provide it... come on and get with with the times. Cutlery and crackers! They sell great seafood and ask a premium which We are all willing to pay. In return, provide premium cutlery and crackers that take our dinner to the next level as well. That alone will add a star to the review. While the Seafood is very good,I feel it's over priced based on market value. The burgers can't be overlooked. Who would have thought that a Seafood place across from a burger place would have better burgers? Brioche and branded buns, 1/3 pound prime beef buns and always fresh LOT finish it off perfectly. *** they used to be THE place to go to for late night great food but changed hours from 2pm to 1am? Why? It was a great industry and place where locals who needed a late night dinner went. I've heard it's due to new owners but can confirm. It's a shame as we have come to enjoy all excellent service from Cathy and Meredith over the past few years but with all the new places opening up it will be hard for them to compete for late hour food and drinks. read more

So here's the thing right? I try to be super fair with my reviews. I try to take everything into consideration because I'm service industry too and I get most things. This experience was... something. They were SO severely understaffed, it was ridiculous. Our waitress was the only one on the floor and it was clear that she was drowning. Andy was her name and she was sweet as can be but she just couldn't keep up. They told us everyone called off work, which is understandable. But for the first hour we were there I swear I saw three managers and assorted staff just milling around not doing much of anything. Something could've been done to help. At the same time apparently some "big wig" (as we were told) had a large party of about 8 come in and a manager was personally taking care of them, and several times ignored my direct requests for things in order to run over and take care of them. I found this offensive. Is my 140$ not the same as theirs? It took us AGES to get everything. And we eat our crawfish 2lbs at a time so it stays hot so this was incredibly long experience to actually eat what we wanted to eat. Our beers took at least 15 minutes, I had to ask repeatedly for every new order. The first ones we got were full of black specs like the glasses were dirty. When I asked the bartender to help as to not further run our poor waitress, she was rude, and slow. And then she proceeded to salt the rim on my guests glass and overfill the beer so it poured everywhere and all the salt was gone. I've bartended for many years. I wouldn't have served that beer. All in all the entire experience kind of sucked. The only saving grace was how friendly our waitress was and the fact that the crawfish were in fact cooked properly and had good flavor in the oil based seasoning. I don't think the restaurant as a whole sucks but I definitely think they need to consider getting a whole bunch of new staff. Nobody wants to go pay 140$ for a meal to wait incessantly on every thing they order and have no ability to just say hey this is wrong can you fix it right quick? You know what I mean? Saturday was my second visit with my grandson but this time it was for dinner. He got his favorite crab legs and this time I had the blackened catfish filet with broccoli and rice. Happy Saturday everyone today we visited Shell Shack for some delicious seafood. The place is vibrant with lights and hood music. Our sever Andie was amazing she was attentive and maser sure we were taken care of during our experience. The only draw back was our crab legs was delivered without hot golden butter. Our server informed us the kitchen staff was making butter, to my surprise I assumed that would be a staple in a crab spot. Oh well I asked if our crabs, potatoes, eggs and corn be heated while we waited for butter. This process to an additional ten minutes not sure way butter melts so easily when I'm making popcorn and crabs at home. Overall our sever made the experience great kitchen staff needs to step it up butter delay for crab legs not cool. read more

First, our server Keylan was good. An extra star for him! As to the food, we really were not very excited about it. It struck us as very overpriced. We started with the Calamari app. It was OK. The peppers are a nice touch. Thuy had the King Crab. Did not get crazy with the sauce option or the heat, as she wants to taste the crab. It was OK. I had the fried oysters, and they were ridiculously small. For what you got, way over-riced. That seemed to be the theme. Other than that, it might be a fun place. Nice patio. Our server Dylan was great, very friendly and knowledgeable about their food and drink menu. The "Date Night" was perfect to feed the three of us and at a really reasonable price compared to buying everything by the pound. We got the garlic seasoning with no spice and there was good flavor. The only downside is this place was $200 for three people with three drinks and fried alligator tail appetizer. After tip that like $80 a person! So I would say it was a little pricey for eating at a table with plastic bibs, but the flavor and service were great. The signature cocktails are also about $13 each. read more

This was our second time here. Service is always good. The atmosphere is nice with plenty of TVs to look at it. I actually ordered some type of boil today. I ordered shrimp with sausage. As always, they have no crawfish (not even frozen ones). We used to call and ask too. The calamari is the bomb! Wings were good. The sauce "kitchen sink", tasted like nothing for my shrimp and sausage. It tasted like they poured only the crab boil hot oil over it. It wasn't salty, savory, sweet, nothing. Lol Had to make my own sauce at home. I've eaten Viet Cajun and Louisiana's version of a seafood boil, and this tasted like nothing compared to that. Holy CRAB! Their seafood is so delicious! My work family and I went to Shell Shack for a delicious birthday lunch and it was yuuuuuuummmy! It was noon on a Tuesday and the entire restaurant was dead except for one table that was a 1-top. I've also seen several bad reviews regarding this location. Maybe they had a really good day that day because nothing was bad about our visit. We started off with half a dozen of oysters on the half shell and Crab-Stuffed Tator Tots which were loaded with crab. Nearly all of us ordered 1 lb of snow crab and 1 lb of shrimp. I got mine in the kitchen sink flavor. It was everything I ever wanted on my seafood and I could've sworn that I had died and gone to heaven. I added a corn on the cob in the sauce and it was quite possibly the juiciest corn I have ever eaten. I wanted to eat about 5 more. Can't comment on the fries, but the hush puppies were delicious too! In my opinion, this place blows Boiling Crab and Crab Station out of the water. Choose the kitchen sink flavor! This was my first time coming to the Shell Shack. We were seated right away and our waitress was very friendly and helped us navigate through the menu. The have all seafood, various crabs, crustaceans, etc. hence the name Shell Shack, I suppose. They also have a few non seafood selections in case you drag someone along who is picky or allergic. We ordered some signature drinks and went right into ordering. King Crab, grilled shrimp were delicious, albeit messy. The brought out bibs and a bucket for us. The food and drinks were delicious and tasty. The atmosphere was great and they even have a super cool wash rack where you stick your messy hands and arms in and it cleans them thoroughly. By the way, they do have "uptown" for an extra charge, where they will de shell your order for you. Last, but not least they also have some good desert choices. Not recommended for diabetics! This place is great. If you are in the north fort worth area and want a drink and excellent food this is your spot. They have peel and eat shrimp and crawfish and other steam bags. Don't think that is all they have. Their apps are on point. Crab stuffed taters, calamari, and wings. They have a great bar. So good in fact all the servers in the area come here when they close. They have 15 tvs good music and the best wait staff. Manager always stops by and the wait staff has been spot on. It is our go to date night, no question asked! read more

Okay, after reading a few reviews I feel that my experience might've been better than average. We found this place on YELP, and decided to try it. We were greeted at the door by a nice young lady, who showed us where our friends were already seated. The waiter had a trainee, and he was quick on the ball. He had a good personality, and answered our questions... but seemed a little scattered. I've trained people myself, so I'm pretty forgiving because nothing was missed! The food was hit and miss. My friend had the crab, and it was wonderful! My other friend had the friend oysters, and they were small, bland, and no texture at all. My wife and I each ordered different flavors of crawfish. Both sets came out steaming HOT, but cooled to a tepid temperature in minutes. While there no straight tails, many of them were tough and chewy... and that's one thing crawfish shouldn't be. The waiter did confirm that they were from a farm in Louisiana... but then said they have crawfish year-round. That's not a good thing! We had a birthday at the table, and received a complimentary chocolate cake w/ homemade ice cream that was out of this world! Then... they have a car wash for your hands. I know it's a novelty, but if you do seafood like I do (crawfish), this this is AWESOME! I might install one at home! It cleans you, your rings, and under your fingernails! Now... we went when it was slower, and they waiters weren't slammed. With the few waitstaff, I can see how they might get behind if they do get busy. The food was mediocre at best, and the prices were that of fresh, flown-in seafood... and if you don't know, that means pricey! While I'm not 100% sure, mine was that fresh,. They didn't have any paper towels on the table, so I can wipe my hands off for a drink. Waiter came to my table about 5 to 6 times asking if I needed anything or everything was ok. Finally when the check came, I asked if they offered a military discount. He said "No!" This place is not military friendly, food is overrated, and way overpriced. So I read all the bad reviews on here about this place. You can go ahead and disregard those. My experience was amazing the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly my service was fast and the most important part was that the food was hot, it was fresh and definitely worth the price. If you judge this place on quality and taste alone, they're better than some 3 star restaurants I have been to. I ordered the Baingi crab like Snow Crab, with kitchen sink seasoning. Did not disappoint. Meaty , hot, fresh and slightly sweet. Definitely full after this meal . Also I can't stress enough the fact that the place did not smell like seafood at all, the crab didn't taste like the sea which I hate and loathe, and everything is as fresh as it can be!
