Howeverrr, I finally made it here and wow! Marrakesh quickly became one of my favorite places in Jacksonville. I dined here with some girlfriends for a Christmas gift exchange and we had a table in the back, tucked away from the hustle and bustle and I thought the privacy we got was so nice. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the full bar in the center of the dining room is so aesthetically pleasing. We started with the falafels which were so good and the labneh with pita bread which was even better, definitely my favorite appetizer of the night. I kept going back for more. I am usually a gyro girly but for my entree, I did the three meat platter (chicken tawook, sheesh and shawarma) with the yellow rice and cucumber salad. UGH, I am salivating as I write this. Everything was delicious but the tawook was hands down my favorite protein of the three. Reagan was our server and she is so sweet! She really knows how to take care of you. I can't wait to bring my husband!

Such a great example of continued success for one of the best restaurants in Onslow County. The new place has a larger bar area and I believe a lot more seating and definitely better parking than before. Such a great vibe! The service here has always been excellent. It had snowed that particular week, so not sure if it was quiet because of that, because there was only one other customer in the restaurant. The place is quite plain and noticeably sparse. I shared a Bateeni Sampler with a co-worker. My thoughts - Hummus and Babaghanouj were quite good. - Falafel had a lot more sesame than I normally see, which I liked - Tabbouleh was very fresh - Grape leaves and cabbage salad was OK Despite being very quiet, the food took a long time to prepare. I would say it probably took 15-20 minutes, which seemed very long. Server was nice enough, but there was definitely some miscommunication between the front and back because we ordered a few items to go too, so we waited around 5-10 minutes to find out what we wanted wasn't available. There was some difficulties with refunding what we prepaid, so we ended up taking other food as a substitute. Overall, food was fine, but service had a lot of room for improvement.

My husband had the chicken kabob plate and I had the lamb gyro - both of which were phenomenal. The pistachio baklava was also great. Inside, it was relatively austere, but the seats were very comfy! You order and pay at the counter and then they deliver your food to your table - I'm a fan of this setup because I can leave quickly and not have to wait for the server to give me the check :) It took maybe ~15 minutes to get our food, but it was piping hot and fresh when it arrived. It was so tasty! My wife and I split the Goat Karahi, which came with "two naan bread" (those naan must be huge, because it seemed more like five naan bread to us!) in a separate basket. The goat was flavorful and the sauce was delicious. The naan were fluffy and tasted really good too. The staff were nice and helpful throughout the meal. This will definitely be one of our new lunch spots, and I'm excited to come back!

Let's just say it was a good surprise :-) Location is tucked away in a shopping center In a corner store front ... so if you dont look for it... you'll miss it .. So went inside and was greeted my a nice smiling gentleman behind the counter and place is very clean and simple. The gentleman behind the counter was very accommodating and helped with explaining the menu which is a small no frills menu which is a good thing .. Orders the mixed platter with an order of Naan.. Was told to have a seat and he would bring it out and to enjoy a complimentary cup of tea (green tea) ... i was disappointed it wasn't the traditional Rose tea that I am used to at other Afghani Kebob joints but it was ok ... The food came out pretty quick and looked simple and delicious.. The chicken was flavorful and moist .. just needed a lil bit more sumac and a pinch of salt .. The Naan is your basic Naan so nothing to share there.. Overall a good experience with no frills and thrills kebobs... Definitely will come back and try another dish ... Time to now find a place that serves beef Paya. Like I was used to from Kabob Palace back in Arlington VA :-)

This spot is solid. If you're looking for food that's delicious, fresh, and won't make you question…read moreyour life choices afterward, this is the place. The quality and portions are excellent--no skimpy skewers, no mystery meat. It genuinely reminds me of the Persian and Afghani kebab shops in Northern Virginia that know their way around a charcoal grill. Everything tastes clean, well-seasoned, and cooked with intention. A couple of small suggestions (because nothing is perfect): I'd love to see a wider variety of sauces for the kebabs, and personally, I'd prefer a larger piece of taftoon bread instead of the pita slices. That said--credit where it's due--the pita tastes fresh and not like it was pulled straight from a plastic bag, which already puts them ahead of most places. Bottom line: this is the best kebab spot I've found in the area, hands down. Highly recommend--and yes, I'll absolutely be back.

After enjoying Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro in Cary last week, my girl & I decided to explore…read moreanother kebab/gyro restaurant in Cary, so we went to Kebab Skewer & dined in on a Saturday night. This is located close to Milklab, which I also reviewed here on Yelp. My girl ordered a gyro wrap, then the young adult cashier asked if we wanted to add fries & drink for additional $3+. She asked if she can swap the fries for another side: baba ghannouj, our favorite Mediterranean side dish, and the cashier said she can. The menu overhead is clear, so we didn't have trouble deciding what to order. I ordered the Kebab Platter - Double Skewer that comes with salad, rice, a tiny cup of tzatziki, a tiny cup of salad dressing, and pita bread. Platter costs $15.99 + additional $1.99 because I chose lamb kebab. We also ordered the 4-piece falafel & a lamb kofta skewer. Total cost was about $50+. As always, we tried each other's foods, split the falafel & lamb kofta. The lamb gyro wrap was delicious with fresh meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The few bites I had of the gyro were pure bliss; part of me wish I ordered a gyro wrap too, but I wanted us to have different orders. The baba ghannouj that came with her gyro was excellent unlike what we tried from Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro (BGM Bistro). The texture of the mashed eggplant and mix of spices were perfect, and the amount was good enough for the 2 of us to share. I also enjoyed my double skewer lamb kebab platter. The salad was fresh, the basmati rice wasn't as sopisticated as other spiced varieties but it went well with the lamb kebab, fresh from the grill. However, for an $18+ meal, wish it included another small side like baba ghannouj. BGM Bistro's platters let you choose 2 sides along with the rice and salad for about the same price, so you get more value there but the baba ghannouj tastes better here. Falafel is a good-tasting side, about the same quality as BGM Bistro's. It comes with tahini sauce. The lamb kofta skewer, which looks like a sausage, was well-spiced and went well with tzatziki. Our orders were served in less than 12 min, and we had to pick up our trays at the front when they were ready instead of bringing to our table. It looks like this is the kind of place that's better for take out than dine in as the ambiance isn't inviting. There was one area where the floor was left uncleaned and the dull illumination of the fluorescent lights inside doesn't make this restaurant ideal for a romantic date. We were somewhat satisfied with our dinner with the gyro and baba ghannouj being the highlights. Lamb kebab & lamb kofta tasted good but I don't think the whole platter is worth $18+. We might alternate BGM Bistro & this as each has their own pros & cons. Or we might explore another we haven't tried before.

As soon as you walk in you can see the kitchen and prep counter with the menu right above it. Order at the counter and pick up at the other end when your pager goes off. We kept it simple and ordered the lamb gyro, seasoned fries, drink, and hummus appetizer. We just had waters, but they offer wine, beer, sodas, bottled water, and some other drinks. Fairly simple, but good size menu with plenty of options. There are plenty of seating options with tables, booths, and outdoor tables as well. While we were waiting and eating there were several to go orders. Steady flow of customers in and out. They also have a great music selection! After a short wait our delicious gyros arrived. The presentation was nothing flashy, but good. The fires were seasoned just right for me, but a little too salty for the wife. The gyros were as expected, delicious and a good size for us. The hummus plate was actually larger than expected, but a nice surprise. There was enough naan for sure. I did not take any pics this time. Overall experience was excellent honestly. We'll definitely eat here again. I recommend giving Olea Mediterranean Kitchen a try.
