We stopped here on a whim while heading to the beach. We didn't want fast food and figured we'd give it a try. Walked in around 630 and was seated pretty quickly. We were put in a back room with a large party that came in later, but they were not an issue. Our waiter, George was excellent. He was able to handle our needs and that of the party with no issues. My wife and I split the 12 oz ribeye for two, and it comes with a salad and potato for both of you. Plus the salad bar is all you can eat. Plus they bring you rolls. And there's clam chowder available at the salad bar also. With two teas, our bill was $54. In today's world, that's pretty good. Overall food was great and we would definitely come back. read more

An eclectic restaurant on 70 in Kinston. Not much to look at outside or inside, but the food is very good. Nicely stocked salad bar, fresh ingredients and many options. They also had a clam chowder and meatballs in a bbq sauce. We all had ribeyes of varying sizes, cooked the way each of us asked and very delicious. We arrived on a Friday evening around 7:30pm. There was no wait and we were seated right away. We ordered the 'Ribeye for Two' which comes with a salad Bar, Soup and choice of potato. We ordered a stuffed potato and steamed veggies as our sides. Now mind you all of the sides are priced at $2.99 so I didn't think anything about ordering veggies and our waitress didn't advise either of us that our side choices would be an additional cost. Our water was never refilled and when we got the bill, it was much pricier than the last time we ate there 2 weeks ago. After paying we noticed that we had been charged $2.99 each for the stuffed potato and the veggies, even though the menu indicates 'choice of potato.' We couldn't locate a Manager but asked another server if this was correct and she advised that it was. With a sanitation score of 90 and ridiculous policies like this, we won't be going back. Not a lot of atmosphere, nothing special about the decor. No wait on a Friday evening. We both had the soup and salad bar. One soup choice barely any clams in chowder and their famous meatballs (not hot, barely warm) in a super sweet sauce. The salad bar looked messy and could have used a good wipe down--lots of users. About half wearing the gloves provided. No fresh fruit--all canned or dried. Lettuce was iceberg only and wide assortment of toppings: vegetables, olives, cheese, bacon, pasta salads, seeds, nuts, croutons, spinach, pickles, peppers, and salad dressings. Port cheese spread with crackers and toasted stale tasting bread. Our waiter was attentive. Price was right for salad bar only. Large safe parking lot. read more

Definitely not what it used to be. They were understaffed, we had to resort to grabbing the tea pitcher ourselves to get refills. I ordered the king cut prime rib, roasted medium rare. From the edge of the meat towards the center for about an inch was grey like a well done steak, but then the center was completely raw and cold to the touch. Which i didn't raise a stink, i asked the waiter to have it tossed on the grill for a little bit since it was cold. He apologized, no big deal, but when the prime rib comes back its extremely hot, and what was previously raw was a pinkish grey color and sweating. They had microwaved it. I used to love this place, but i wont be going back again. read more

Terrible. Took my husband there to eat his BIRTHDAY dinner. Got to the restaurant at 515. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, which is no problem. We ordered an appetizer and had soup and salad. Then, nothing. After about an hour, the waitress came over and told us that there would be a little longer wait due to a party of 30 people in the back room. She said that they were an hour late, and they had held the grill for them. I said, how much longer do you think it will be? She said 20 minutes. After about 30 minutes, I was so angry. I told her it was my husband's birthday. All he wanted was his steak. She was sweet and apologized. I asked for the manager. She said that she would send him over. Come to find out, he was only the host and he avoided coming to our table. Never even looked our way. So, I went over to him. I told him how long we have waited. I told him it was my husband's birthday. He said well, we have a party of thirty and we had to PRIORITIZE. By the time I sat back down, the waitress came back over and apologized. My husband said he just wanted to pay for what we had eaten and go. So, she brought us the $35 bill. No one took anything off the bill. Not even for $5 to apologize. Terrible business practice, telling your patrons that they are not a priority. If you can't cook the food that I'm going to order just because you have a party of 30 people... Then, do not sit me at a table and it sounds like you should have just closed your doors to everyone except your party of 30 since that is all you care about. So upset. My husband still hasn't eaten and it's 730. Just waisted our evening!! If I could give ZERO stars, I would have. read more

We were there for a birthday dinner for my father. He used to love the place, but apparently it's under new ownership. My kids got the chicken breast and couldn't eat it so we sent it back. It came out the second time, still cut the way we cut it, and they had just thrown it back on the grill. It still was not eatable. My chicken breast came out the same way and I couldn't eat it. I told them what the deal was but they would not take it off the bill, even though I had only taken two bites, one of which I had to spit in my napkin. They charged my wife for a separate salad bar even though the chicken breast meal came with it. They also charged my sisters's kids for a salad bar for eating some gold fish and crackers. Needless to say, you won't see our family back in there again anytime soon. read more

A group of 7 of us went to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. I was pleasantly surprised as my last visit was less than stellar! Anyway, so happy to say we ordered a variety of items from ribeyes to salmon to chicken breast. Everyone was more than pleased with their meals. Salad bar was above average! Service was excellent. I was hoping for more. Reading fairly decent reviews had my expectations set higher. The much vaunted salad bar was mediocre at best - packages of "lite" dressing as the first thing you see should be a warning. For all the little pots of things to put on your salad, most were unappetizing and not fresh looking. "Fresh" dressing choices were unidentifiable. Service was decent. My prime rib was OK, cooked about right, but others in my party had grossly under- or over-done steaks. Had to ask for horseradish sauce, which in my experience, is something routinely provided with prime rib. It was OK. If I lived here, I'd probably still eat here occasionally as there aren't a ton of choices, but though I've had worse, I've had a LOT better for the price. From a group of five, nobody was happy with their salad or meal - I was probably the least dissatisfied of anyone. Nothing awful, but really nothing to recommend it. I like local, independent shops and restaurants, but this one was frankly disappointing. They'd benefit from a visit by Chef Robert Irvine & the Restaurant Impossible crew. Seriously. I didn't come to this restaurant for years until about a year ago. Formerly, the steak preparation was frequently overdone and the meat quality seemed to really be hit-or-miss. However if you haven't been in a while, it's worth giving another try. I have been several times in the past few months and the steak has been consistently juicy, tender, and cooked to order (medium). The salad bar choices are about as abundant as you'll get anywhere. Although it is a bit pricey, if you are going as a couple get the rib-eye for two (not on their menu anymore but they'll still let you order it). It comes with a salad bar for each, baked or sweet potato for each, and a 12oz steak cut in two at your table. I rarely deviate from the steak and salad bar so I can't vouch for anything else on the menu. The service is usually spot on. If the price was a bit lower or the ambiance was a bit nicer (really what happened to the table cloths...) they'd be doing more business than they could handle. If you are in Lenoir County and you want a steak, this would be my choice. read more

We used to love going here. Always had good service and food. The last time we went we felt as though something had changed. The salad bar was as good as usual but our stakes we chewy and not cooked correctly. My husband sent his shrimp back saying they tasted like they had been made a few days before and reheated. Highly overpriced for very basic food. A 6oz Ribeye is over $20.00 but does include salad bar, baked potato, cinnamon apple ring and break. You can add ounces to your steak for about $2.00 per ounce. We had 6:15 reservations and were not seated until almost 7:30. The waiting area was as crowded as a NYC subway during rush hour. One family who were checking out were upset because the waitress had told them to finish eating so that more could be seated. This must be the only steak in town and was very plain...no seasoning and broiled. Family of 4 ( 2 children) cost over $80.00 with tip and ordered nothing special. Never again! read more

I recently attended a going away party. We had the prime rib for two. It was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. On review sites everyone seems to rave about the salad bar. I was not as impressed by it. The actual salad bar was ample but not amazing. However there was a side bar with soup, meatballs etc that was a big hit with others in our group. My steak was a 5. The waitress was a 5. There was 9 of us. We all showed up right at 5 pm when they opened. Our group was very pleased with everything. I don't have a clue about the bad reviews. We almost didn't go because of them. I'm glad we went. The price wasn't much different than other places we eat at. The filet was cooked to perfection.. Salad was crisp and fresh. After being seated, we were not greeted or asked for drink orders for about 30 minutes. The waitress had no clue we were even there. She apologized and quickly got our drinks and meal orders. One steak came back rare when it was ordered as medium, sent it back. It came back for the second time less pink, but definitely not medium. The empty tables all around us were dirty with plates, cups, trash. During our 2 hours at this establishment, we never saw a manager or anyone over the age of 25. We have been many times before and normally in at least a group of 8 and had decent service. I have always thought it was overpriced for what you get, basically just paying for the salad bar. We went Saturday night because our friends from out of town like to go there, a party of 7, were there when they opened and they were not extremely busy. The service was OK and after we paid our bill of $155 and gave the waitress a tip of $30 within 5 minutes, the waitress said she was not trying to rush us but how long would we be as they had another party waiting. There was an empty table the same size right beside us! When we left, only one group was waiting to be seated. Two people at our table had JUST finished eating 5 minutes before that!
