Ordered a hot roast beef sandwich and got a hot hamburger sandwich on toasted bread with fries. The Chef made a switch and being with friends and from out of town and on a schedule, didn't complain, but poor service and they lost 3 repeat customers as a result. Stopped into the Diner on our way home to Maryland. Waitress was super nice and more than attentive. She spotted our requests and fulfilled them prior to our asking. Can't say that was the same for other servers. One server greeted w Her guests with a "we close soon and are cleaning up so if you could put in your order now it would be appreciate". ... Shocked to hear that kind of welcome. Food was very good for a little diner. Would recommend stoping in for a basic meal. Dining room is dated and could use a sprucing up. read more

Walked into Dee's Diner in Goldsboro, NC, I did not know what to expect. Of course, this was my first dinning experience. The restaurant reminded me of a cafeteria without the buffet. There were weekday specials with other options on the menu. My meal consisted of the Wednesday's special: Baby Back Ribs (pork) served with yam soufflé and tossed salad along with a dress of sweet tea. The ribs were extremely tender and tasty; the yam soufflé could have been a little hotter and sweeter as well as some of the sweet potatoes could have been mashed up more; the salad tasted good. My strawberry cake was amazing. Overall, my dinning experience is good. I would visit again. read more

I went for breakfast/lunch on a Sunday. Which I found out on Sundays is a wildcard for what special they have. The special for the day was country fried steak, unfortunately they had run out by the time I got there. So I got the Bacon cheeseburger instead and it was delicious. Fries were super good too! It was extremely busy in there the entire time, but it was just after church ended so it was expected. It's a bit of a drive from where I come from, but the food was fantastic. Went in to enjoy breakfast before shopping at a business in the same lot. We got our sweet teas and sat there for almost an hour. They were taking to go orders and making sure door dash went out before in house paying customers. Tables sat after us got their food and were gone. Steer clear from here. Very unfriendly. read more

Went here for the first time in yrs, yesterday 03/06/22. We arrived for a late lunch around 1:30pm. Upon arrival we decided to sit outside as they have 2 tables on the front sidewalk. I got my wife and granddaughter seated and comfortable then proceeded to go inside to check in with the staff. Stood at the "Wait to be seated sign about 5 minutes before someone came to assist. I asked if it was ok for us to sit outside and she assured me it was fine and someone would bring us silverware and menus shortly. So I went back outside and joined my wife. It was a beautiful day so we didn't mind waiting a bit and as the lunch crowd was leaving we saw several people we know and talked for a bit. After about 15-20 minutes I was reminded by a stomach growl that I was getting hungry. So I went inside and reminded the staff that we were still waiting for menus. A couple minutes later we had a very apologetic member of staff come and told us that no one had informed them that we were outside. We quickly got our silverware, menus and drinks. We asked for a few minutes to look over the menu as we hadn't been in several yrs. Well, there was my mistake. After another 20 minutes I called the restaurant from my cell and reminded them we were waiting to order. ( I really wanted to leave but loading and unloading our young granddaughter is a little taxing on an already tired child. So we stayed.) Very shortly after I hung up the staff member came back and actually told us they forgot we were outside. We ordered and got our food in a reasonable time from actually ordering and everything was good. It will probably be another several years before we return. read more

Great food and service, usually go with the husband or friends and food is always delicious and staff is very accommodating and friendly. If you're ever in the area and looking for a cool soul food spot with modern touches this is the place to go. We've been so much that we have our favorite Specials, I recommend the meatloaf or smothered turkey but everything is great. read more

I would give this place no stars but Yelp won't allow that. This place is in need for some help. The cooking staff does not know there butt from a hole in the ground. There was 2 adults and 2 children at our table. We placed our order at 10:10am. At 10:50 the first plate came out. At 11:10 two more plates came out. I had to ask for the last plate. I visited this place at lunch for the first time and the food was phenomenal. I got the smothered pork chops with potato salad and green beans for my sides. The best way I can describe it is good ole southern grandma cooking. Our waitress had a vibrant personality and took good care of us. We moved here in March of 2017, and love the convinance of having the diner close by ,its nice to get what taste just like a homecooked meal, for very affordable prices. Came here for breakfast, breakfast ends 11:30 on weekdays and 12 on weekends. Food was pretty decent and reasonable in taste and quantity for the price. Dining area looks recently renovated in past few years, bathroom area does not, but looks clean. Waitress was nice and refilled my coffee a couple times before I got my food, but did not so much check in or refill afterwards. Kitchen staff brought out my food without any words. **They stop serving breakfast after 12:00 Came with a friend who was visiting from out of town, really wanted some brunch food but they were only serving lunch food by 12pm =( probably should've gone to Waffle House instead, but we wanted to try local restaurants versus chains. We sat outside since it was a gorgeous day. Service was meh, our waitress was attentive (although forgetting to order our okra and bringing us silverware) but seemingly not in the best mood that day. Friend had the bologna sandwich and I had grilled chicken club. Sides of fatback (basically homemade pork rinds) and fried okra. In general food was standard, not blown away, but for the price, you can't beat it. My friend was raving about the sweet tea for the rest of the day. I am in no way a tea connoisseur, but apparently there is a science to making sweet tea and they must have it down because while I was paying, another customer came in just to order a large sweet tea to go! read more

The food at Dees is good basic and enough. My only dislike is that they don't use real butter on the tables. I'm not a fan of the yellow fake spreads at all, but unless you want to eat dry toast or plain biscuit you have no choice. A 5 star review is missed because of a management decision. read more
