This place is solid. Came in with my son for a late breakfast and we were not disappointed. It's located in a small shopping center. It's a small diner with counter seating and tables/booths. Service was very friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for our meals. I really enjoyed my dish that included biscuits and gravy on bottom of hashbrowns and topped with two eggs. We also shared a half waffle and it was good, but nothing great and a little cold; butter didn't melt. Overall, I would definitely return. read more

Great breakfast spot! I had the Mitchell's mayhem i think it was called? Biscuit, gravy, hash browns, cheese, and 2 eggs all piled together with a choice of meat. I went with the sausage patty based on other reviews. 1)Note I gave 5 stars, even with these critiques. 2)The biscuit could have been hotter. Obviously baked earlier, by necessity, it probably could have benefited with a few minutes on the grill while the rest was being prepared. 3) The sausage patty had great flavor as other reviews suggested, but as with the biscuit, cooked earlier, it could have used a bit longer on the warm-up. 4) Normally, I would have coffee but had some earlier, so I opted for a diet soda. They had Pepsi, which isn't Coke, so bummer there. The diet Pepsi had a chlorine taste, which I assume came from the ice. Please filter your water, people! It's easy and cheap to do! Overall, great food! Service was fantastic. I think the sweet older lady who served me called me every affectionate name in the English language. This is a great southern diner. The service was great. The food was delicious. You know it's good when half of the Air Force base shows up for breakfast. They do take out as well. Sorry I didn't take any pics of the food, but you don't need pictures to convince you. Just go. Food was plentiful, tasty and lots of choices. Our server was very friendly and worked hard to ensure we received our meals as desired and hot. Ok so if you love the country home feeling and cooking then you would love Kathy's Kitchen they have been around about 30 + years, the owner and her sisters with other staff members are amazing, the place is like simple and homey, I love how they have photos of their family, friends and customers placed in frames and hanging up for everyone to see, very nice and approachable gave you plenty of time to look at the menu and order, kitchen staff was very quick with our order and everything was perfect if not amazing, my husband had local meats that we are going to come back and stop by the store to purchase some more meats to bring home, all around a place like this is what my family looks for when we travel and is always pleased with we walk into, we always said that there needs to be more of the mom and pop restaurants everywhere in the states Kathy's Kitchen thank you sooo much for an amazing experience and yes we will bring a photo for you to hang on your wall read more

Great find as we were driving through Goldsboro on a Sunday morning. They were busy but we were seated immediately at a cute little two person booth. Ordered a Diet Pepsi and the carbonation was just right. Husband ordered coffee. Our drinks were kept filled by multiple waitresses. I ordered the veggie omelet with shredded hash browns and husband ordered loaded shreds which was hash browns heaping with breakfast meats, veggies, cheese and eggs. It was all delicious and perfectly cooked and the wait staff was so friendly. I'm from the south and you can call me "shug" or "sweetie" whenever you want. Prices were reasonable, too! I was very excited to try a nice southern diner while overnighting in this area. The hospitality was typical southern ( welcoming and warm) the food was very good though I kept mine on the light side since I had a 9 hr drive in my immediate future. Was busy on a Saturday am. Took long time to order then a long time for food to arrive. Was told waiting on biscuits about 2 minutes. Received food, biscuits were hot but everything else was cold , cold waffles not good. It sat so long Whip cream on top of waffle was melted, watched them put fresh on top just before it was delivered. Not worth price . Will not come again. The place could be a lot cleaner. Traveling from the coast of NC to VA, I stopped in Goldsboro for one night's rest. Googled for a breakfast spot the next morning and found Kathy's Kitchen. For a Thursday morning, the place was busy, packed. "Sit wherever you'd like" is what I was told when I walked in. Found me a small booth wayyyy in the back. Server's name was Louise and service was quick. Food was very good, done as requested. Hot coffee kept pouring. You could tell the place had its' regulars. The staff I had interaction with were very pleasant. If I find myself in or thru Goldsboro ever again, I'll be looking to "sit wherever" I can find a seat and some bottomless hot coffee to hit the spot! read more

We arrived into NC two days ago and wanted to find a local mom and pop style diner. Found Kathy's Kitchen was nearby and decided to give it a try. We are so happy we did. We came around 0930am and the place was packed. Luckily there was enough seats for the three of us. We were greeted and was told we can sit at the open table if we wanted it. Service was so great and the server filled our coffee often. The food took a bit to come out, but it wasn't that long and they were busy so we understood the small wait. It was worth it though because the food tasted delicious and the portion was huge for a really good price. We have definitely found us a go-to breakfast spot. read more

Just read this on my friend Carols Facebook page!! People can be so mean!!! Sharing for my friend Kelly Whitley.... So Facebook asks, "what's on my mind?" Well we live in a cruel and greedy world. I am going to elaborate because I need to get this encounter I had this morning in Goldsboro which involved Kathy's Kitchen. There was an elderly black man with a pacemaker walking along the sidewalk and approached David and I as we were about to walk into a store. He told us he had a pacemaker as well as showed us and said he wasn't asking for money but he was very hungry and could we please get him 2 sausage and egg biscuits from Kathy's Kitchen and of course my Mom raised us that we don't hand money out to people on the streets but we will definitely buy you something to eat!!! He went on to tell me that he had gone into Kathy's Kitchen and said he was hungry and was run off by the owner. Ok, so here I go into Kathy's Kitchen to get 2 sausage and egg biscuits and this place is "slam packed with people eating." Of course this Kathy if that is her name (she said she is the owner) just kept taking people's money and not once even asked me did I need to place an order or anything else. Finally, a nice waitress came up to me and asked if I needed something after saying "you look familiar." I told her I wasn't there to eat but needed to order 2 biscuits for an elderly man outside who said he was hungry. She was kind about the situation and took my order. Now to waiting inside for my order to take to the gentleman...let me remind you I only ordered 2 biscuits and I waited for approx. 30 minutes. After standing inside for about 5 minutes, the owner who is taking people's money left and right says you can wait in the foyer and I will let you know when it is ready. Well there is no damn ventilation at all in this small foyer entrance. David was outside and I explained to him and could see he was upset because there was another person inside waiting on takeout as well. Now, I patiently waited in this hot ass foyer for 20 minutes and walked back in and asked her about my order and she said it went in line with everyone inside and I didn't get it any quicker than someone inside. I said ok I understand then I went on to tell her it wasn't for me or David but for an elderly black man outside who said he was hungry. She then was so very rude as well as very unprofessional to the waitress that took my order . She told me if she knew I was getting it for him, my order would not have been taken. She said she deals with begger's all the time and they harass her customers and this cost her business. First off let me tell you something, she had a full restaurant as well as a list of people waiting so what does it cost her? Nothing!!! She said she has called the law multiple times and that these people had places in the county where they could go for help that she wasn't going to do it. Ok, now I finally get called that the order is ready and she wouldn't give it to me. She came out of the restaurant with the bag and said I am not charging you but I am going to give it to him and say something. David then said just let us pay you for the biscuits for him and we will give them to him. Finally after she looked back in her restaurant and saw multiple people ready to check out, I guess greed kicked in. She handed us the bag and we took it down the walkway to the gentleman. We told him to please take the food and leave the premises to prevent her from calling the law on him again. This really took a toll on me for at least an hour after the encounter. No I am not super religious but I keep my faith and ask God to help me get over this encounter and to put some kindness into the hearts of greedy people and cruel people ESPECIALLY THE GREEDY OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT. It is much easier to be kind to people than to be ugly and if you are giving something away that you want credit for, just deduct it from your taxes. I AM GOING TO PUT THIS OUT THERE NO MATTER HOW HUNGRY I MAY BE WHEN IN GOLDSBORO, I WILL NOT PATRONIZE KATHY'S RESTAURANT EVER!!! I AM PUTTING ATTENTION TO THIS BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT TO OTHER'S ATTENTION. read more
