The lasagna here was amazing. It came out bubbling hot with layers of meat, cheese, and sauce that were all packed with flavor. You could tell it was homemade and not from a frozen tray. It had a really nice crusty edge and gooey middle, just how I like it. The staff was warm and welcoming from the minute we walked in. The vibe of the place was super family-friendly but still worked for a casual date night. One of the better pasta spots I've tried in a while.

I understand I am in the DeepSouth (tm), but maybe a business should not wear there politics on their sleeve like this. Interestingly enough these reduced hours are the same hours as are on the menus and table cards. I have news for you. If you think you can't get employees because unemployment is more attractive, maybe you should be paying people more. Unemployment is NOT enough to live on. Now to the food...the sourdough bread was good. What was put on this bread was more like food service basic stock. The portion size was dwarfed by the bread itself. This is not what I expected for an $8.00 sandwich. I'd gladly pay that for a sandwich from a place that actually pays its employees a living wage. This was a nothing special sandwich on a high end budget.

What is interesting is that I loved this place for the reasons that Danarae W. did not. It is not kid friendly. Love that, especially on a work day when I want somewhere that is quiet, able to enjoy my coffee and pastry and get some work done. I did not have any issues with the wi-fi. Parking was on the street and the location is perfect, right on Queen Street, obviously. The staff was super sweet and helped me with some choices of cookies to take to my meeting for the folks I was going to meet with. They had several different kinds. I wish there were more baked good choices but I think it depends on when you arrive. This was a 10am visit so it may have been past the rush. Everyone in Kinston I have talked to is super stoked about this place because there is not a great bakery or coffee shop in town that you can feel comfy going in, getting work done AND has tasty goods! I look forward to using this location for my work, snack, and lunch needs in the future. Thanks for bringing some sweetness to Kinston, Queen Street Diner!

Due to my internet connection going out, I lost my beautiful review. :-( A few words... This establishment is not kid-friendly. I went here with my two toddlers to get a couple cookies and I felt highly uncomfortable and out of place. Plus there were no highchairs to be found. Go here with your friends. Or go alone. They have WiFI connectivity, parking and entrance in the rear, and the food and baked goods are for the health-conscious. Try being nice to the woman at the counter; maybe she will warm up a bit and be more pleasant for the next time I decide to go. I gave this place 3 stars for my experience today, but I am totally willing to change my review next time.

What a lovely place. I wish I had a place like this around the corner from where I live. Clearly they're doing right by Kinston. Even though we arrived in the middle of lunch hour customer service was great the line moved along very quickly. All the food we ordered was great and the crowd here is really nice. Ordered: - Neuse River Roast Beef - Frogmore stew special - Cream cheese potato salad

I just had the best experience ever in this neat little place. I had a full ladder sandwich and a small house salad, plus a survival cookie! Absolutely everything was splendid. I usually eat at peach house, but decided to give queen street a try, first time in a long time, and man, I don't think anything compares. Newks is my favorite sandwich restaurant and this place is twice as good as Newks! It was a group consensus that this place was awesome can't wait to come back and try something else!!!

I come to Kinston a lot for work and always stop into Queen street deli. The sandwiches are definitely the best in town.

Prompt service. Friendly staff. Typically packed during lunch hours. They have space to accommodate large groups, too.

Excellent sandwich. I had the firehouse. Delish. I would definitely eat here again. I didn't try any of the desserts but they looked yummy.

So while I'm visiting, I checked out the store and bought some snacks. This seems like a relatively new store even if Dashawn's review was two years ago. It is clean and the floors are still bright. Merchandise is well stocked and the produce looked good. Prices are quite decent. Perhaps a little higher than Walmart but definitely lower than Harris Teeter. Good quality and a good selection. This isn't my regular shopping destination but I'd certainly make it one. [Review 15490 overall, 994 of 2021, number 3033 in North Carolina.]

Today the prices are skyrocketing but at PW, they are OVER skyrocketing, it's almost to the point of price gouging. If you're looking for clean, this is the place, it is very clean inside but maybe it's clean inside because people don't want to go there because it's not the friendliest place I've been and even the cash register (self-checkout) isn't friendly, I couldn't remember where to enter my customer ID, finally found it... I also dropped my item on the scanner and we had an error, I had to wait until a group of workers that were talking about music on the checkout line beside me!! Finally she (I'm guessing the front end manager) saw that we needed help, after my husband said "yep, we're waiting on assistance" because the register says "please wait for assistance". She walked closer to the register but never came over and never said a thing and went back to her friends/workers and continued talking about music. I was at the store on 10/16/25 at 11:51AM R024. Terrible, as much as I hate that popular BIG store their prices are better and I do get greeted.

#62/2023 Located along the eastern shore of North Carolina…read moreJust North of Kinston North Carolina about 20 minutes is your classic roadside grocery store Cafe. These are your classic general stores with hot plate lunches and breakfast served throughout the day It's a small little place in a small little town just outside of Ayden a industrial town. They no longer have diesel pumps of course have gas and alcohol beer sales etc. Big on people traveling home or to work locals. they were pulled up years ago but they do have truck parking a lot of local truck drivers Park and leave their stuff here. It has a very strong following of locals every now and then a traveler will pass through but for the most part this is very big with the locals. I was hungry I saw the truck parking I pulled in I came in and used the bathroom it was clean this is an old building. They had a hot deli bar with plate lunches that were just getting finished it would be about another hour if you wanted Burger hamburgers and more stuff cooked till the dinner lady comes in and Cooks things ready until 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.. They had a still nice warm big giant chopped hamburger and brown gravy I got some nice hot french fries with brown gravy and it was very good. This is the kind of place where if you're a trial or you probably wouldn't pay twice a look and just Cruise right by headed up towards the main city. But it's classic little roadside stores that keep small little towns thriving.
