Our party called ahead the day before visiting the restaurant for Wednesday reservations. We were told to arrive around 9am the next morning. After arriving a few minutes early we were told it would be "a bit" before they could seat us. "A bit" turned out to be more than an hour and even then they sat us at multiple tables throughout the restaurant. After being seated, we were promptly ignored. Fifteen more minutes went by before our sullen, unpleasant server took our drink orders and eventually our breakfast orders. She was not only extremely slow and inattentive, but blatantly disrespectful to one member of our party by rolling her eyes and making gestures when she thought we couldn't see her. Once our order was placed, we waited then waited more. We had decided to leave if our food had not arrived by 12pm and go to Bojangles in Vanceboro, but at 11:50, over three hours after arriving, our food finally showed up. My omelet was enormous and overflowing with ground sausage. It was OK, but would have been better with less sausage. My shredded hash browns were cold. The biscuit that accompanied the omelet was cold and hard. My dining companion liked her french toast, but noted her eggs, though properly prepared over medium, were cold. Same goes for her home fries. However, the buttery syrup, served with her french toast, was served warm and was absolutely amazing. Wow! It made my biscuit edible and was the best part of our meals. The restaurant is attached to a hardware store in a rural part of Craven County. It definitely has a country vibe and was spotless. Incredibly slow and disrespectful service combined with OK-at-best food make it difficult to recommend Voder's Dutch Pantry in any capacity to anyone. read more

Visiting from out of town. Went in for breakfast on a Monday around 9 am and didn't have to wait to be seated. The place was rather quiet with a few open tables. The server was attentive, but not overly friendly. The food was enjoyable; with the French Toast being the highlight. The bacon and eggs were good but the biscuits and gravy were rather average; although the portion size was large they were a bit doughy and flat. Pricing and value was good. If you're looking for an amazing breakfast and bakery experience, this is the place to go! Everything is fresh, homemade, and absolutely worth it. Some might think the prices are a bit high, but trust me, the quality more than justifies it. I loved everything I tried. My family was visiting from the Hudson Valley in NY, where we're used to incredible farm-to-table options, and this place holds its own. It's a gem to find a spot like this out here. We made a special trip on the way to New Bern for a first time here since it wouldn't be much out of the way. I had no idea the store was so big!! After gobbling down a delicious cinnamon roll and sticky bun we went through the store as much as we could before we needed to hit the road again. Suffice to say, we must return to go thru the store with a fine tooth comb to be sure we don't miss a thing and to get more baked goodies!! read more

Our weekend adventure took us to Yoder's for lunch which is a not so secret gem of Grifton. Unless you want to wait 2hrs for a table or an hour for a to-go order on a Saturday, I'd recommend calling in your order ahead of time for pick up. On Saturdays, their menu is limited to breakfast food only. During the week, they do have a lunch menu with salads, sandwiches and wraps. While you wait for your food, you can shop in their rustic garden store. After that, you can relax in one of their gliders or rockers. In March, it's also entertaining to watch the purple martins building their nests. Finally time to eat, their buttermilk biscuits are moist, fluffy and delicious! If you have a sweet tooth...let's face it, we all have one...their bakery counter won't disappoint! Factoring in your drive time plus the wait time, downtown New Bern has several great hardy breakfast alternatives. But if you want a day trip adventure like we did, then Yoder's is worth the drive! read more

This place has the best breakfast in or near Greenville, hands down. I came here for the first time with my best friend after reading the rave reviews and hearing the buzz about them from locals. We were still in quarantine and decided to treat ourselves to a nice Saturday afternoon brunch. The drive is about 30 minutes from Greenville but let me be clear and say it is MORE than worth it. When we arrived, we walked into the foyer, which, as the name implies, is a pantry filled with Pennsylvania Dutch goodies. When you round the corner, the space opens up into a restaurant seating area, coffee bar, and bakery. We wanted to eat outside and were told that there was no wait service outside, BUT we could order to-go and enjoy our meal out there. That's what we did. The sweet young lady at the takeout station recommended the french toast, bacon, and homefries. I am not a french toast person, but I figured I'd follow her recommendation given her confidence in the suggestions. We both ordered the 2-piece french toast. I ordered mine with turkey sausage, and homefries with coffee and my bestie ordered hers with turkey bacon and hashbrowns and orange juice. We both ordered cinnamon rolls from the bakery counter when we paid for our order. In less than 15 minutes, our order was out. We picked a comfy outdoor seat and went to town. I am not exaggerating when I say that this is some of the best french toast I've ever had. Perfectly fluffy and made better by their signature butter syrup, which has an almost caramel-like flavor. The home fries were perfectly crispy and so well seasoned. The turkey sausage was juicy but nothing spectacular (She DID recommend the bacon after all.) Their coffee is amazing as well. The portion size is more than enough and an amazing value for the price. I dove into my cinnamon roll for a snack later, and it's one of the most amazing cinnamon rolls I've had in my life. The key to Yoder's quality food is quality ingredients. You can taste the freshness in every one of their menu items. Nothing is shortcutted. Everything is made fresh, right down to the bread for the french toast. I have been back to Yoder's two more times since my initial visit. My regular order is now: French toast, bacon, home fries, and coffee with a cinnamon roll to-go. I also love that they have tons of fresh bakery items, treats, meals-to-go, and specialty and pantry items to take with you. What makes it even better is that it is connected to a garden shop that sells plants, outdoor furniture, and much more. I highly recommend making the trek to Yoder's for the quality breakfast experience. It will not disappoint. TIP: Check the hours on their website before you come to make sure they are serving breakfast. read more

Would gladly drive down from NJ just to have brunch right about now. My bestest friend (lol) in the whole world shared Yoder's Dutch Pantry with me on a trip down in between Friday morning calls. It was truly a blessing. Upon entering I immediately thought "Cracker Barrel". However, think homemade and more personal. We were immediately seated for a late lunch. Although it was late we were able to have the French toast and potatoes. I have never had homemade bread. So let's start there. The French toast is thick, not soggy - just perfect. Topped with the warm Butter Syrup? I found myself meticulously cutting the French toast so that I could savor each individual piece by dipping it in the syrup. I should have ordered 2 pieces just to be greedy. I also ordered the loose tea which was so flavorful it did not need sugar/honey after the recommended steep time. After thoroughly enjoying my meal, I walked over to the store - full, satisfied without that yucky stuffed feeling. I tried to resist buying everything but did purchase a bottle of the delicious Butter Syrup. I enjoyed everything about my visit and hope to return in the near future. read more

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures if you're looking for a great breakfast this is the place. I am told on the weekend you will have to wait quite a long time. Their staple is the French toast with the butter syrup, It is awesome. The restaurant is run by an Amish family and our waitress was very kind And very good. There is a store next-door that has all kinds of goodies so while you're waiting, you can walk around the store or sit outside on the outdoor furniture that they sell. So worth the wait! We came here on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and was not disappointed. The wait was about 55 minutes but during that time, we looked around the adjacent store as well as sat outside in the rocking chairs and enjoyed the weather. The food was phenomenal. The farmers omelette was so fresh and so good, I didn't even put hot sauce on it! I opted for a side of blueberry pancake and with their butter syrup OMG -- my mouth is watering thinking about it again. The customer service is also 5 stars as they seemed to wait list people right up to their closing time on this day. We will definitely be returning here. read more

I originally saw this place on a PBS North Carolina episode a few years ago and wanted to give it a try someday but kept missing it as we drove close to it from Wilmington NC , we finally made it a road trip for lunch. What a pleasant surprise, had a 30 minute wait but was well worth it, small dining area that seats about 30 or so people. I had the Friday special, pork chop, mac & cheese, broccoli salad, homemade roll and iced tea, all for only $12.99. What a deal, probably the best pork chop I have ever eaten. My wife had the chef salad for $9.99 and it was also fantastic. Our sever was very attentive, so overall a 5 star experience. Oh yeah the pecan pie was also fantastic, what a great lunch for $36 including tip, well worth the road trip. The attached Amish hardware store was quit an experience too!!! read more

Yoder's is another place I went with the family I was visiting in Greenville. It is a good drive as it is further into the country. We went on a Saturday morning, and were aiming to get there around 8:30. When we got there, the wait was an hour and a half for the group of five we had. Since we drove about 45 minutes, we decided to wait. They reassured me that it would be worth it. You get a buzzer to alert you when your table is ready. Our wait ended up being closer to 2 and a half hours, as the host seemed to skip over us and seat other large parties. We did notice this and inquire our position in line; we were seated promptly after this. During the wait, we browsed the vast store attached to the restaurant and ventured outside to look at the animals (they have chickens and peacocks!). However, 2 and a half hours is a long time to walk and look at animals. We ended up sitting in the car on our phones for a good portion of the time. Once we were seated, everything went fairly smoothly. The food was great, but we were so hungry (it's about 11 am at this point) that we would have eaten anything. Prices and portion sizes are very comparable. I enjoyed all of my food. The quality of ingredients were also notable, the eggs were fresh from the chickens we watched for so long outside. The warm butter syrup made my french toast so great! I enjoyed the experience but can't say I'll be back next time I'm in town. Perhaps if I didn't go on a holiday weekend it would have been different. TL;DR Food is great. Wait however, is not. Expect to wait for a long long time. More of a special occasion trip. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. DELICIOUS home cooked breakfast. The best menu item was the cinnamon roll French toast. Their homemade butter syrup and homemade sausage links were tasty as well! The staff are so friendly. We drove 2 hours to have breakfast when they opened at 7am fearing we may not get a table otherwise (their website says there is limited seating inside) but honestly they turned their tables so quickly that if we had to wait it would have only been about 30 minutes. There is a great store attached to the restaurant. You can buy home goods, farm supplies and they sell baked goods as well. We're happy to make the drive again soon! read more

We finally made it here after so many people told us to go. Yeeeaaaaaa, it was breakfast. My gravy biscuit tasted EXACTLY like Hardee's biscuits and gravy. One slice of French toast is something like $5. The maple syrup on the table didn't have a label of where it was made and I'm pretty sure it was just US foods syrup. The home fries where good but honestly you could spend less money for the same quality at Cracker Barrel. The worst part was the wait. When we arrived, the wait was about 45 minutes. We decided to see what the fuss was about and wait. While sitting out front we noticed people kept walking in and going right to a table. We went in and watched 2 equal sized groups walk up to the hostess, give their party size and go to a table. When we asked about our table, they had simply forgot to activate our buzzer and seated us then. Our orders for eggs were not right and when we addressed the issue, the waitress simply said, "yea I couldn't remember what you wanted". Yoder's is a family-owned mercantile of sorts with a breakfast and lunch cafe at the side. There is always a queue at a cafe and wait times could go up to 2 hours. Check in with the host and you'll receive a pager or something similar that will notify you if your table is ready. That way you can head to their shop and just stroll and looking at things while you wait. We bought some jams and pickles to take home. At the cafe, absolutely loved their butter syrup and French Toast. Butter syrup reminds me of butterscotch ice-cream. It is warm and perfect to pair with the French Toast or pecan pancakes. It is a lovely place to take family and friends. A place I wouldn't mind coming back to. Staff were friendly and welcoming place. read more
