My son and I recently moved to this area and walk alot and we have walked by this place many times...well today we went in and OMG!!! The ladies behind the counter making the food beyond polite! The one lady literally told us the menu so my son and I ordered biscuits with bacon egg and cheese...they even gave us fresh out of the oven biscuits!! The biscuits are HUGE; the size of a man's fist. The cheese in them is a huge chunk of melted cheese (cheddar, I think) and they are fluffy and delicious! This place is literally inside a currently operating convenience store but it has 4 little booths to sit in after you order. There is no menu posted but just ask the nice lady (big Cowboys fan) behind the counter as there's a lot of items to pick from: sausage, ham, bacon, eggs, pork chop, etc. You pay at the register of the convenience store and those people are just as friendly and nice. read more

I stumbled along this place just passing through. I happen to be scrolling through Yelp looking for breakfast somewhere. I was road tripping but unfortunately they were not a lot of great reviews for places along these country roads. As they drove by this place caught my attention and I wanted to see just outta curiosity what reviews were written. To my surprise this place is a big deal for their biscuits. I made a U turn, parked and went inside. Yes this is an old repurchased gas station/grocery store/stopping point for locals to buy lottery tickets and beer. I told the lady behind the counter people are talking about how good the biscuits are and she said try one you will see. I had missed the breakfast rush by a couple of hours and they still had a few biscuits on hand. She added a slice of ham to this buttery, cheesy biscuit. The photos just don't do this buiscuit justice! This was a good biscuit, she offered me a second but I really didn't have room, it was filling. Biscuits are a big deal and I really enjoyed it. If I have the chance to pass through in the future I will definitely stop off. Unfortunately for me it's not very easy to get too because it's off the major highways connecting Virginia and North Carolina. read more

New to this area and man does this place live up to the hype! This could very well be the best biscuit I've ever had, it was definitely the best bacon egg & cheese biscuit sandwich ever. This spot is tiny, and gets pretty crowded (at least on Sunday morning when we went). Also, some of the nicest ladies working there too which is an added bonus. Its deliciously greasy and huge, so definitely not something you can eat every day but worth the caloric and cholesterol splurge every now and then. Went to Mom's this morning to grab some breakfast. This place is nothing to write home about. It is an old gas station converted into a small store/cafe'. Mostly set up for take away but they do have a few tables for indoor seating. The breakfast is comparable to other places in town but what sets it apart is the cheesy biscuits. Sometimes when you read about or hear about an iconic "hole-in-the-wall" eating establishment, you just know that it's only a matter of time before you show up there - so it was with Mom's. We were in the area last week for a forgettable night in Greenville, and decide to try for a foodie save by sliding down to "little" Washington for a trifecta of non-fine dining - Mom's, Bills, & King's - all the artery clogging food groups within a 3 miles radius! Mom's is a very small, very dated grill in a weary looking convenience store, and it is renown for its biscuits - especially its Cheese Biscuits, an Eastern NC regional favorite - though the concept has drifted west as far as Chapel Hill (Time Out, Sunrise), and probably farther! The ordering flow here is more than a little chaotic, no orderly line, no rhyme or reason, all orders are given verbally, and transmitted verbally to a largely unseen kitchen group, and called out verbally when ready- so remember what you ordered!. You pay at the front counter, where a little more confusion is inevitable. You take your score outside, there is no seating. We ordered a plain biscuit, a Cheese Biscuit, and a Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit, and the order was delivered intact. I had been aware that some found the Cheese Biscuit more than a little heavy on the cheese, and this was a bit of an understatement - the cheese crushed the biscuit, a bite or two was plenty - acquired taste I'd guess! The Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit was huge, greasy, and delicious - but even here I'd ask them to go lite on the cheese - and you're eating in your car more than likely, so cover your front. Stay away. I want this place all to myself, so maybe I should have left a terrible review. Place is awesome. Didn't know that a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit could be that much better than what you typically find. Man, was I wrong. I have seen the biscuit light. Grand Rivers Michigan. Visiting family here for holidays. Visited for the first time Sunday. 1/5/2025. Establishment was very busy. Waited approximately 15 minutes for cheese biscuits everyone raved about. While waiting I observed a worker with tattoos on her arms come out from the kitchen. When she came back she had on a uniform for another establishment. She greeted everyone when she came from behind the counter and when she came back she was more gracious than before smiling and talking encouraging customers to wait and it wouldnt be much longer. She was leaving and turned to say something to the woman still working. Her name is Denise. I made it a point to find out names after she yelled and viciously verbally attacked her in front of anyone who was there to see and hear it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Donna the lady with the tattoos on her arms didnt say anything. She did look at everyone and just walked out. She looked so defeated. Just watching to see what she would do. She walked outside to her car. My wife approached her outside. She asked her why she would work in such an abusive environment. With tears in her eyes she said she wasnt a quitter her boss is off and its different when she is there. My wife hugged her. I hugged her. We encouraged her and tipped her. Im leaving 1/12/2025 and I never got those cheese biscuits because we didnt wait anymore we left the store. Cheese biscuits were mentioned this morning to take home and I vetoed the idea. The experience is too fresh and Im not happy to see anyone abused. Me and my wife are fans of Donna at Moms Grill. When my parents lived in WV (where I grew up) there was this chain called Tudor's Biscuit World, and their theme song went "Tudor's Biscuit World... it's just like coming home," and being the snarky child that I am I would always sing, "Tudor's Biscuit World; the reason for coming home." Small grill inside the gas station. Mama makes biscuits from scratch every day. Apparently the restaurant inside a gas station is common in the area. I've had the biscuit with egg and a biscuit with egg and cheese. The cheese is a bit overwhelming. Optional ham on biscuits too. About 5 tables so decent seating area. Bread pudding here is amazing! She uses leftover biscuits and adds yummies including peaches and raisins. A must try!! read more

The food? I'd give a solid 4-4.5 stars. If you order a cheese biscuit, you're guaranteed to get half a block of cheese on that biscuit. Extra napkins are absolutely necessary. The hours? "Don't judge a book by its cover." A statement many of us have heard for years. This is one of those places. I took a friend's advice and stopped in this morning for a couple of biscuits for my wife and myself......growing up in the country in eastern NC, I had 2 grandmothers that knew how to cook, and cook good. Both made cathead biscuits. With lard. And they each taught me how, so I know a good biscuit. These biscuits, folks, are as good as you'll find at any family reunion, church homecoming, or post-funeral celebration meal. I got two bacon, egg and cheddar cheese that were as good as any I have ever eaten. There's a place in Wilson, NC called Flo's Kitchen (some of you may be familiar with it) that I think has the best restaurant baked catheads you will find. This place is now 1-A, just below the same level as Flo's. Mom's is strictly carry out, but plan to either eat it before you drive off, or when you arrive at your destination, because if you try to eat it while driving you will: 1 - need an apron and gloves; and 2 - spill most of it out before you can get it in your mouth. Trust me, you don't want to lose any of this goodness anywhere in the car. I also saw link pork sausage, and what I thought was smoked sausage as well. Sadly, no tenderloin, thus its 1-A ranking just below Flo's. Do not pass this place by if you are in need of a biscuit fix. I arrived about 8:30 am to a packed parking lot. When I left, folks were still piling in. This is a destination spot for breakfast biscuits if you are within 30 miles of the place. read more

Mom's Grille is the first "institution" in Washington that didn't leave me cold. We'll get the cheese biscuit with prettym much anything and they're always rich, cheesy, and huge. You can practically feel your arteries clogging when you look at those things. We saw this place on the news as the states best biscuit so me and the wife took an hour and a half ride to see for ourselves. It is a hole in the wall that you would never think had biscuits like this! Cheese is squirting out every bite(this is a good thing in case you were wondering). There smoked sausage is great and large. Plenty of bacon on the bec. It was well worth the drive and reasonably priced we got 4 biscuits for $15 and the second biscuit will have to be for lunch.
