I went here for a business dinner. I'm a foodie, and to be honest, when I looked at the menu, I wasn't sure what to expect because it looked like an unfocused/random selection of dishes. However, I'm glad to say my instincts were completely wrong on this one. My business colleagues told me all the ingredients are locally sourced, and the based of taking diner food and making it a little more modern (without the pretentiousness). The space matches the concept - modern diner. I tried the following: - Daily Bread: Very good. Nothing like freshly bread and butter. - Spaetzle Mac & Cheese: Excellent. I've had spaetzle and and I've had mac & cheese, and this was as good as interpretation of mac & cheese I've ever had. A lot of my colleagues thought this was the most memorable dish of the night. - Pickled Things: Good. I always like trying new things, and pickled blueberries and fried saltines were new to me. Really nice surprises. - Daily NC Catch (Trout): Very good. Trout was just as perfect as can be with a nice crispy sear on the skin, and meat was still tender. The risotto underneath was good, but a bit over-seasoned. Service was incredible. The server was interactive, fun, attentive and doing a masterful job of single-handedly managing a table of over 12 people, which is never easy. Overall, a great meal. Really great food with service that made us feel like restaurant regulars. If I happen to visit Greenville NC again, I would definitely make sure to return. read more

My GF suggested we have dinner at Native Fine after recently enjoying an outstanding dinner. Unfortunately the menu had significantly changed and was decidedly more casual (a burger and fried chicken sandwich are delicious but definitely less refined). We started with 1/2 dozen oysters (delicious) and an order of Pickled Things (really large enough for 4). For entrees we had the steak special (perfectly cooked but inexplicably didn't include any accompanying sides) and the fish special that included bouillabaisse in the description but was really a bed of flavored rice (good but a little too much vinegar). Overall tasty food with friendly staff, but I'm not sure I'd seek it out. read more

Writing an updated review for Native after our recent trip. The mac & cheese was delicious as always. My husband had the half chicken dish and it looked good. The daily catch was trout and the beef was a hanger steak. We weren't too sold on either tonight so I got the chicken sandwich. The chicken was cooked really well but there was so much hot sauce on it, I would def ask for it on the side if you're not someone who wants hot sauce dripping through your bun. Also got the truffle fries which tasted a lot like oil and were just ok! The server we had was very friendly but we sat with empty waters (hard when you have a very hot sauce-y sandwich) and the girl walking around with water walked right past us at one point. Native is typically where we go for our celebration dinners, tonight being our two year wedding anniversary, and I think we will switch it up next time because of this trip. read more

Was in Greenville for work and a friend I was meeting for lunch recommended this place, and what a treat. I shared the mac and cheese with buffalo chicken with my friend, it was excellent, the buffalo sauce mixed well with the cheese. I got he French onion soup and the jedd's lettuces. The French onions soup was excellent, perfectly meltecu cheese, deep onion flavor, really well made. The Jedd's lettuces was also executed well, the fried goat cheese was nice and then greens were perfectly light. My buddy got the smash burger, and said it was really good. Service was great, always polite and on time. Nice old building feel with some good touches to adapt. The bathroom doors blended right into the molding, it's a very cool space. read more

First time to Greenville and Native Diner would be my #1 excuse to return! Went for dinner on a Wednesday night. Had a 6pm reservation - not needed tonight, but as one of our servers told us, "we call it Wild Wednesday, as we never know if we'll have a party or mellow night!" (Tonight was somewhere in between). Just went with main courses (preceded by a delicious mezcal negroni and one of their CBD cocktails - note that the have a wide selection of crafted non-alcoholic cocktails). He had the chicken - tender and delicious. I had the fish of the day, flounder. What was really cool was the "Texas Pete's caviar". (explained as some gastro-chemistry experiment that worked so well!) Everything was so flavorful! Portions weren't huge, and since we didn't have apps, dessert tempted us. He got a custard - it was pie-shaped, that had the most amazing flavor (later found out their was some sort of essence of smoked pine leaves), citrusy, light and just really packed with flavor! I had a warm blueberry cobbler with Chantilly cream. Like the best "muffin top" you've never had. The cream was perfect. Lovely servers and then Chef Luke came over and chatted. My husband and I noticed this place as soon as we moved to Greenville, but for one reason or another, it took us over a year to finally visit--and we're so glad we did! The service was amazing. Alexis took care of us and was incredibly kind and respectful. She's an absolute sweetheart! We started with the pork belly appetizer, which was packed with flavor. For our entrées, we had the NC steak and the chicken schnitzel--both were cooked perfectly, and the sauces and flavors complimented each other beautifully. Omg! Candy Bar Pie. SO MANY yummy foods but the pieeeeeee! I have never! I was taking here by true foodie and I was so impressed! The restaurant itself is also very beautiful with historic structures. The view from the window allows a train to trickle on by. We had a great time counting the amount of cars and how long it took the train to pass One of the beauties of being in a small town is no one was frustrated about the over half an hour to get by the train, seemingly. Food and service were always excellent here. It's a gem in Greenville. We always try to go when visiting.

Exceptional quality ingredients and flavors, executed perfectly. The short ribs were ridiculously tender with an intensely flavorful reduction, served with crispy on the outside, tender on the inside potato cubes in a purée of sweet parsnips. My wife's chicken was also perfectly prepared with a delicious apple chutney sauce and an inventive walnut butter. The icebox cake was different than we envisioned, but married incredible flavors and textures into an outstanding dessert. Our daughter is a graduating senior at ECU, and sadly, we likely have only one more visit to Greenville. We waited too long to try Native Fine Diner. Don't wait! read more

This was such a disappointment. When a restaurant gets a good rating on Yelp, I've been able to count on it being a great place. Native Fine Diner would only be great if I was in my twenties and grew up on McDonalds. There is NO sound deadening, so the upbeat music and conversation is everywhere. In addition, a party of 8 young women were seated next to us right after we ordered. They were having fun, but so noisy, we couldn't talk. The meal that my husband ordered (mushrooms) was outstanding, but my pastrami was fatty and cooked on a grill (true "diner" style) and so greasy I had to keep wiping my hands off when I picked it up. The cook upped the fries by cooking them in truffle oil. Again, I'm sure the 20-somethings were impressed. I wasn't. There was more "diner" than "fine." I won't be returning any time soon. read more

Love this place and go every few weeks. That being said tonight's service was not as good as usual and they need to reconsider cramming all the 2 tops so close together especially when the back room is empty and 1/2 the dining room is open. Went to NFD last night (2025-08-07) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We ordered a salad and 2 entrees. The salad was good but the entrees - pasta with shrimp and NC beef dish - were not. The pasta dish was drowning in oil, had tiny bits of shrimp instead of whole shrimp, and was mostly lacking in flavor. What little flavor there was, was not appetizing to me - after 2 or 3 bites, I'd had enough. (The description on the menu said the dish was spiced in tarragon and lemon, neither of which were present in the dish as served.) My loving wife took pity on me and graciously swapped entrees so I had a little more to eat. The beef entree - I think it was hanger steak - came with fries. There were 2 problems. First, the steak had been over-salted. There were bites - not all of them but more than half - where all I could taste was salt. (So much salt!) The 2nd problem was the fries - they were a greasy, inedible lump. I had 2 or 3 off the top of the pile and stopped. They were really that bad. This dinner was a huge let down. This was the 2nd time we've eaten at NFD - our first experience was much better - but I'm not sure there will be a 3rd time after last night's fail. read more

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh k. Here we go. The hubby and I popped into Native without a reservation on a Friday night. We were seated near the door. There are two dining rooms to this restaurant. It looks like there's a nice dining area just past the bar and where we were seated near the door, not having had made a reservation I digress. Our waiter. Travis was probably the best thing about this place personable, professional, and attentive. The menus were on plain printer paper, touting prices that belong on card-stock in a fine dining establishment, not strewn on the booby trap of a shaky table we had. The food names were extremely pretentious. A description for disco fries made us wonder what to expect. Eh,oh. There are no sides to the entrees. Solely resting a chicken leg in purée with greens does not connote a $30 something price tag. It lacks allure and a certain je ne sais qoui. Astoundingly, the drinks didn't impress either. The alcohol in both the vodka and the tequila based drinks were easily confused for the other. The best thing about the drinks was that they use Sonic/hospital ice; my favorite (no need to fill it to the rim)! It was disappointing to have them served in ice cream float glass. The selection titled Ham Chop tasted pretty good in its mashed potato and green something reduction. When I inquired about the mustard greens that were supposed to accompany it I was given one of those aluminum ketchup condiment containers of arugula, funny. The ham chop, interestingly tasted partially like ham and some like pork chop. Travis inquired of the chef for me what kind of meat it was and was told to inform me that it was ribs but toward the end of my meal Travis let me know that the chef was "joking", and that it was merely a pork chop. Get it together. Too, there was an air of disdain for our presence. We always present well so of course we looked and smelled amazing and are some of the most beautiful people, people will meet. That said the air of arrogance we felt by this establishment has insured that we will not return. Thank you for being you and may you receive all you deserve. It was my first time going and I definitely will be returning the vibe of the place is very cute and it's casual but also gives a upper scale feeling and there is plenty of seating. I had gone for a drink and then ended up also getting the truffle fries. I wish the fries had a bit more truffle flavor but overall they were very good.
