It took me a long time to finally try the food here - and I am a foodie that loves different kinds of cuisines, it's just that I would end up gravitating towards a different place. Howeverrr, I finally made it here and wow! Marrakesh quickly became one of my favorite places in Jacksonville. I dined here with some girlfriends for a Christmas gift exchange and we had a table in the back, tucked away from the hustle and bustle and I thought the privacy we got was so nice. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the full bar in the center of the dining room is so aesthetically pleasing. We started with the falafels which were so good and the labneh with pita bread which was even better, definitely my favorite appetizer of the night. I kept going back for more. I am usually a gyro girly but for my entree, I did the three meat platter (chicken tawook, sheesh and shawarma) with the yellow rice and cucumber salad. UGH, I am salivating as I write this. We have been dining here (old and new location) for a while now. We really love the new establishment. Such a great example of continued success for one of the best restaurants in Onslow County. The new place has a larger bar area and I believe a lot more seating and definitely better parking than before. Such a great vibe! The service here has always been excellent. Had lunch here for the first time yesterday. Was greeted as soon as I walked in. Adam was my waiter and very sweet and checked on me often. I went with the chicken kabob lunch. Our bartender Jen was so kind and attentive, explaining any new or unfamiliar traditional dishes. Went with my boyfriend and his family for dinner, and the food was fantastic! The hummus was delicious (I am known for hating it), the spinach sleeve took a bit to come out but it was well worth it! My boyfriend and I shared the ultimate meat platter and oh. my. goodness. It was amazing!! The salmon was my favorite, it had a wonderful crust but wasn't overcooked, and the rice was so flavorful! It had sautéed peppers and onions that were soft but not mushy, and my Island Cooler drink was so refreshing and beautiful! We got overcharged? The prices on the menu did not match the prices on the receipt. This was very disappointing. I ordered a baklava for $3 off the menu and was charged $4. I asked for extra sauce because the beef shawarma was so dry and got charged for that without the waitress letting me know it was going to be an up charge. The 3 meat platter had 3 pieces of meat per the meat you chose. So a total of 9 chunks of meat for $23. The rice was really good and the appetizer we ordered the spinach sleeve was great as well. The olive oil was authentic olive oil which was a surprise. The baklava wasn't worth the $4 seemed a bit old and not fresh. Pros: Food was well seasoned & had lots of flavor, food came out fast, accurate order, good service. Cons: Prices from menu didn't match our receipt... beef shawarma was very chewy and dry, small portion for the 3 meat platter i'd expect way more for that price. read more

Marakesh in jacksonville is probably one of the few restaurants in the area where you can get fresh delicious food. The flavors are incredibly authentic and the menu is perfect for any palette. Portion sizes are decent! All of the waitresses at Marakesh seem to have been working here for a long time so you can expect great, knowledgeable service from the ladies. The pita bread was delicious. The falafel was perfect. We had falafel and hummus combo, we had the lamb and beef Shawarma. The lamb was really dry, but it had great flavor and the salad was delicious with the tahini, we also had the falafel sandwich which had great flavor. However, we ordered double rice and we only got a single serving . Everything was delicious. We would definitely be back. We've been there a few times now. I will start by saying that Marrakesh is THE best restaurant in the town of Jacksonville. Since I discover it back in 2019 my opinion still stands. It is unmatched whether you are into mediterranean cuisine or not. Let's start with the service: staff is great, always attentive and nice. When they are really busy you will notice that it will take a little longer to get service but honestly the wait is always 100% worth it and the ambience is really warm and relaxing. Let's talk about the food: this restaurant have very common and well known dishes typical of Mediterranean mixed restaurant, but what I can tell you is that the vast majority of these dishes have a family recipe seasoning or process to it. The flavor on a lot of these you won't taste anywhere else and this is coming from someone that never miss a opportunity to grab me some lamb chops, shawarma or gyro at any restaurant I spot. I have not been able to recreate the flavor of a lot of the dishes I tried at Marrakesh anywhere else, so use that as a reference. This is a local spot and hidden gem so I want to make sure that everyone knows about it because I don't ever want to see it close! If you are visiting from the surroundings (havelock, new bern, morehead, swansboro, etc.) do not hesitate to have some great lunch or dinner at Marrakesh. If you'd like to try my favorite it consist of: 1 order of stuffed grape leaves with Tzatziki sauce, 1 order of Labneh and for the main dish a lamb chops dinner with rice and tahini salad.
