We went to Old Siam for my birthday last month, as we love Thai food. However, we would never go back there, and would not recommend it. First, it's pricey. And, while I understand the motivation, I did not appreciate the hastily made table toppers that said their prices were actually 10-15% higher than the menu due to tariffs. I almost walked out when I saw those. Second, it took a long time, about 30 minutes, to get our food. Apparently they got one of orders wrong, so they had to start over. Third, the food was good, but not remarkable. I've had Tom Kha soup in the past, but what I got here didn't measure up. Fourth, it was around $100 for five of us, for lunch, with two of the five being kids. Finally, it was pretty empty when we were there. Only one other family there, so another reason the slow food prep was a head-scratcher.

Food was very delicious Great flavors in each dish and the Thai tea. Server was very attentive didnt have to wait for refills or when time to order.

Food was absolutely delicious! The pad Thai noodles were bouncy and flavorful, not dry at all. The chicken satay was well portioned, not stingy at all. The pineapple fried rice had tasty bits of roasted cashew that has me searching for it with each bite. And the Panang curry was just the right amount of spicy. My in-laws said it may even be better than their choice in Vegas. Coming from California, I'll say it is. Our server was delightful too! Attentive with a great sense of humor, thanks for cooking our satay!

Delish start to finish! Excellent service by Kanittah. I'm very familiar with Thai food as I'm Thai. It's been a big change from the west coast but this little gem is a gold mine. I had the fried chicken wontons and tom yum chicken! Both were excellent I want more of the Tom yum now lol! My pic has no mushrooms as I'm allergic but Tom yum generally comes with a lot of mushrooms!! Older building however I didn't get the whole "smells" like old building comments at all. I want to try basically everything here so I'm sure I'll be back ASAP. Thank you for your amazing service the very delicious food and the great experience!!!

I love this place, don't know why I waited 20 years to check it out! The staff, the huge menu, the calm feel to the restaurant. Suits my need for variety!

Wow! Why haven't I gone here before! It's been around awhile but I hardly ever see cars there.. I have no idea why because food is made to order and is really good. I was greeted when I walked in by the nicest lady at the reception desk. I guess they get a lot of to go orders but I had not ordered yet. She handed me a menu and it had so many yummy choices! I came for pineapple fried rice..they have a few pages in back of menu just for vegetarian options! I also decided to get an order of spring rolls.. came with 2 and sweet sauce.. soo good..the rice had cashews and they added flavor to an already perfect fried rice.. big pieces of pineapples too..the spring rolls were filled to rim with yummy shredded veggies.. best lunch I've had in awhile. I got a lunch portion and it's enough for me to have leftover for dinner!! I would love to go back try other things..

TLDR! Amazing authentic food, wonderful staff. A true hidden gem in Jacksonville! First time for my family and I we loved it!!! They have a large menu with vegan options. Food is made to order. It is delicious and authentic. Portions are large. We ate until we were stuffed and still asked for boxes. Our waitress was very sweet, accommodating and attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant was very cozy and their decor makes the whole experience truly authentic. We ordered their Pad See-Eew with Beef, Mixed Vegetable with Pork, Garlic and Pepper with Pork. All so delicious! We added "spice" to our meals and it gave them the perfect kick We can't wait to go again to try more plates.

Old Siam is in Jacksonville right by Camp Lejeune and they have a parking lot outside the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is pretty dated and my party had to move tables because the table was rocking. But the lady who served us had such a personality and made the environment really lighthearted. They have vegetarian options as well. I like that their menu is very descriptive and has pictures of all the different ingredients they use. I ordered the Drunken Noodles. My entire table noted that we wanted our dishes to be very spicy and reaffirmed our decision because yes, we know what we we're about. It took some time for our dishes to come out and unfortunately when they did, they were mild at most and the chef may have underestimated our spice tolerance. It was still tasty though and I liked that they put a lot of basil in it. TLDR: Not a bad Thai restaurant in Jacksonville. The staff and their humor made for a good time.

The outside of the building is a bit dated but don't worry. The food and service are top notch. We were greeted by a wonderful hostess and server who was outstanding. We ordered the chicken satay as our appetizer and the shrimp pineapple rice and chicken vegetable stir fry. The service and food quality was excellent. One of the best Thai restaurants we've been to in quite some time.

It was OK nothing spectacular just tasted like rice with chicken. They gave me white rice, which I did not order and brown rice which I did not order very very disappointed. Everything was very bland. Kung Pal was supposed to be spicy. There was no heat and no spice at all and then not enough for the people who were here. Everything was like warm or cold. I went inside the place looked cleaner new manager and they had a new cook which he wanted me to know that he was Mexican and not Asian that the Asian cook would be in the next day and apparently it was this first man's day cooking... I ordered Agedashi Tofu and Egg Foo Young... The cook obviously did not know what he was doing because the tofu That was supposed to have been fried and served with a dipping sauce was 18 round looking pieces of tofu briefly fried and then tossed in some sweet and sour sauce and it stuck all together like a glob the rice for the egg foo young was Gray and when I opened the container of egg foo young it was dripping with so much grease that the eggs couldn't really hold it together and as soon as you put the fork on it the whole three patties just mushed together I picked it up with my hand gave it a squeeze it and grease just started running down my hand and my arm.. and just for shits and giggles I opened the egg foo young sauce to see if it was as bad as the other things and literally it was like someone heated up a bottle of soy sauce and then dumped a whole container of regular table salt in it literally tasted like that so I called they had my address under my phone number where we lived four years ago I gave him my new address because he said he was going to fix it and I said wonderful he then stated okay so for your next order we will give you a 20% off discount and I said no sir you don't understand there will not be a next order we will not be patronizing your business any longer and there was not even an offer for a refund at all so if you've tried this place before and thought maybe it might be better or if you have never tried this place I suggest don't ever go there and patronize this business the manager was more worried about talking how much business school he attended internationally and you could tell he knew nothing of The culinary world and the poor cook was thrown in there not knowing a damn thing or what he was doing and it's just a total waste of time and good hard-earned money.... Whatever you do bypass this place at all costs !!!!!!! I wish I had thought about taking pictures but I was so mad and disgusted with the final product of what I had just purchased that I immediately threw everything into the garbage right then... And if any of this is not punctuated or sounds jumbled it's because I tried to go back but it won't let you go back into the paragraph to add punctuations but I'm sure y'all get my drift.... Avoid this place at all costs whatever you do !!!!!!

It's a rather large restaurant in a large strip mall. There's plenty of parking and different dining experiences. There's a sushi bar, a bar, hibachi, and the standard sushi dining area. Shogun is similar to a lot of restaurants in Jacksonville. Sometimes there's an "off" day. Every restaurant has those days. Shogun is no different. We've had great to below average times here. Today we enjoyed our meal. Today wasn't too busy so we were seated promptly. Our server provided our menus and took our drink order (water). We order the sushi for two. Comes with a variety of sushi, miso soup, and a side salad. The soup and salad was delivered after a short wait. As we finished our soup and salad our sushi plate with two small plates was delivered. The server poured our soy sauce. The food presented well. The quality and quantity were perfect for us. Our server was good and attentive filling our waters and removing used dishes as we dined. Our experience here today was very good. We enjoyed our meal and experience. If you've been on the fence about trying this restaurant, I recommend giving it a try. Even if you don't like sushi, they have plenty of other options.
