When it came to remodeling our pool, I sought 6 different quotes but none were as competent at a fair price as Sharp Pools. Our remodel was a challenge being a 30 year old pool that's been patched together over the years. Matt completed a large renovation on our aging pool - new pebble surface, waterline tile, depth conversion (diving pool to play pool), baja step, return lines, dedicated suction line, auto-fill, light, and probably a couple other things I'm forgetting. I got seven quotes prior to choosing Matt and picked him mostly due to his detailed quote and responsiveness. He wasn't the most expensive estimate I got but he wasn't the cheapest either. All told, all this work took about four weeks to complete and Matt kept me informed every step of the way via phone calls and text messages. I never wondered what his crew was up to and the finished result looks GREAT. I don't think I could be happier with our pool - it's basically new at this point. We needed to have the rolled bond beam removed as part of our backyard renovation, but wanted experts to take care of the pool interior. Matt provided a detailed quote and explained what needed to be done and how long each stage would take. He also helped us select the type of finish and color for the interior. He and Jeremy assessed the current state of not only our pool but also the pool equipment. Based on what my husband had been doing to maintain the equipment Matt did not recommend any replacement parts at that time. Matt took the time to learn what else we were thinking of doing and when we mentioned a hot tub, he shared his wisdom on what to look for when selecting and getting one installed. Based on his knowledge, we decided not to spend extra dollars to get a wall built around the hot tub (more challenging to maintain hot tub in the future); and we took the time to wet test the top end models of two different top names in the business. My old pool had been refinished but severely neglected after the home had been foreclosed on. The pebble tech finished was chipped, the cap tiles were cracked, and I had to manually vacuum it and top off the water with a hose. With cooler temps around the corner, I decided to contact Matt at Sharp Pool Creations to come look at my pool and give me a quote. I had some ideas on what I needed and maybe a few upgrades but did not know what would be the best additions for an older pool. Matt's experience in the pool industry really helped understand the normal pool repairs needed when refinishing as well as popular upgrades. It turned out that a lot of additions I was thinking of came standard with a Sharp Pool Creations remodel. Once we came to an agreement, Matt was quick to get the pool drained and chipped out. When the chip out was complete, it was clear some of the older pool troubles Matt warned me about were present in my pool. Pool deck separation, thin floors, and exposed rusty rebar were the beginning of my problems. Luckily Sharp Pool Creations includes floor and rebar repairs in their quote so it wasn't going to have to pay extra to have it repaired. Shortly after chip out the repair crews began to take care of my issues, Matt was busy hand creating new travertine coping stones for my pool, and the plumbing crews were installing the auto water leveler. Before I knew it my pool was ready for it's new Stonescape Midnight Blue finish! After the acid wash, Matt started my pool up, balanced the chemicals, and ensured everything was running right. He gave me a lesson on proper maintenance and chemical balance. He came back a few more times just to ensure everything was going well and my pool has looked great since. I own a home in Arizona and primarily have it listed as an AIRBNB (Comforts Crossing on Airbnb). Being my first year renting my home this way, I didn't have a heating option for my pool to offer my guests; as a result, I was losing opportunities to rent my home. In doing some research on pool heating options, I decided to go with a heat pump. It is important to note that I live in Chicago, so being able to control the pump remotely with a smart phone app, have a highly efficient quality pump that wouldn't give me problems going forward and maintain heat in the pool with a cover and reeling system were all critical requirements for me. Probably the most important factor was being able to trust the person I was working with (given my location), give them a substantial amount of money to begin working and trust that they're going to come through for you - and Matt and team did with flying colors! I went to YELP and sent a request for quote, and I received several calls but the only one that really seemed like he really wanted my business was Matt. He was very informative, patient with my questions, explained things in layman's terms and, understanding my cost concerns, willing to work with me on the most cost effective options. I recently moved into a home and the pool needed some work done. Matt has come out three times, once to fix a motor, once to fix a water valve and lastly to fix the plumbing around the filter. Matt is always available to come and fix what is broken and is extremely reliable. In addition, he is always on time and does quality work. I had shown him some bids from other pool companies and he went down the list with me showing where they were overcharging, what actually needed to be done and what was just a scam, and what a fair price is. He is extremely honest and not looking to cheat someone just to get a dollar in his pocket. It was extremely refreshing to deal with someone that you can trust. Also, for what it is worth, when Matt has come over and worked, he doesn't just go through the motions. You can tell he works hard and doesn't just go through the motions. Our new home has a Pentair intelliflo pump it was making a loud sound at low speed. Home warranty sent pool company this person had no tools, had a dress shirt and jeans and who was clueless! so I asked for a second opinion. They send me two more companies names so I look them up both company's and they both had F with the BBB, I ask for another company that could feel confident with. They gave me Sharp Pool Creations, Inc. they where not listed with BBB, BUT after reading the reviews on Yelp and talking to Matt. I agree to have him come over. Matt was Very Professional check everything with my pool, flow, pressures changed seals and enducated me on my pool pump. He also use his cell phone and called my power company and set my pump to save use money on off peak time. WOW WHAT a difference!. Sent out by an insurance company to diagnose the problem with my pool they seemed more interested in trying to sell me a very expensive piece of equipment rather than deal with a simple problem that I was having. I have seen his responses to all the customers that complained about is firm and its handling of insurance claims. I fully agree with his responses some customers do not understand the terms of their agreements with their insurance companies. This is not the case with this review. I had a number of people look at this unit after they came to my property and all agreed that the technician from this firm and his analysis was dubious at best. I write fairly and honestly and and sensitive to small businessmen I would also recommend that the owner of this firm carefully consider his responses to people with complaints towards his firm. Rather than making the reviewer appear to be an idiot a response of " please let me contact you and discuss this matter" or" I personally would be happy to come out and look at your unit and discussed the issue and I'm sorry for your displeasure"..you wil get a lot more mileage with that type of response. Your technician was way off and may have cost of another person thousands of dollars. Thankfully I did not just fall off the apple cart and had the good sense to check with several other service providers. The problem is now fixed and it was fixed for a fraction of what your technician was trying to get out of me. The readings that they gave me for my pool water quite off as well in attempt to justify their position with regards equipment they were trying to sell me. I took samples of the water to leslies pool shop on 2 separate occasions 1. same day as your test and 2. 2 days later. I did this at 2 different stores. I was that they told they were a bit high but not even close to as high as your technician told me they were and according to for professionals not at levels that would cause the damage that your technician claimed. A warning to all. On all big ticket items make sure you get a 2nd and 3 rd opinion. I'm not sure if this was a technician hired by the company or the owner but I would not recommend this firm. read more

This year we decided to get the pool remodeled since the plaster was starting to crumble in a few places. I called a handful of places (some big names, some smaller) and decided to go with Matt for a number of reasons. Nobody was better than Matt in terms of laying out all of my options and making recommendations based on the budget I had. I appreciated that he took the time to explain every cost involved with a remodel and what options I had for some of the items. He really showed his knowledge when he gave me a timeline and then gave me the reasons why things may be delayed a bit (e.g. concrete work needed). The project came to an end only a few days later than initially estimated. During the project, I reached out to him with a status update and he got back to me within a day with an updated timeline, it was really helpful. As a side note, our project grew in size (at my choice), from a home warranty call on our backyard in-ground pool filter and plumbing to adding a request to replace a failed halogen spa light with an LED light which was needed for our in-ground front area spa.... point is, Sharp Pool Creations employees are great as well. Either way, back to the review. The two points I want to make are: 1) If you have a home warranty company and have the ability to request a Pool Company, Sharp Pool Creations is your team.... it will be fixed once and it will be fixed right. Communications, Quality of work, as his shirt said, Exceeded Expectations. 2) If you have a job you want to complete (as we did with the LED kit and controller for the Spa) he provided me multiple options, each with an approximate cost (including, part, labor, tax, etc) and guess what? He did the work, with quality parts, quality workmanship, and came in at exactly what he quoted. Matt taught me quite a bit about my pool system. Helped me to understand where some electrical changes needed to be made for safety issues that would be fixed by an electrician (he was not trying to up-charge or sell, literally providing safety information for my home). All of this was scheduled, setup, and completed in less than a week. YES, from my call to the home warranty regarding my pool filter/plumbing to the site review (and request to replace the bad halogen bulb in the spa with an LED and controller), it was 5 days. He had a FULL plate of business already that week, but offered to fit us in his schedule if he could come at 645am... seriously, how many people have that work ethic anymore? Pool Repair, Pool Design, Pool Engineers are a dime a dozen in AZ.... Sharp Pool Creations, well, they are one in a million. In response to Matt.... RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY 1. Anyone that wants pictures of the work please just ask..... they speak for themselves. Terrible work, no pride. 2. Anyone who wants to see how Matt thinks of Tenants/Renters just ask and I could share his emails.... they speak for themselves. This guy is a name caller before he understands the issue. (note in the emails I never stoop to his level and call him names like he does). So unprofessional!! 3. The pump worked fine on a timer, his guy comes and manipulates the controls and then it no longer works. Instead of accepting responsibility he initially denies touching the controls or pump. (its all in the emails) Later, he admits that yes they would touch the controls and run the pump to test their work. But only after I call him out on that letting him know I was there and saw the pump running and his technician told me he set it up to run for 24hrs as that was what the pool needed. The technician assured me everything would go to normal on its own which was important because I was flying out to LA. But nope, the equipment runs all week 24/7 on my energy dime. When I let Matt know of the problem he gives one excuse after another (we didn't touch it, that's not in our scope of work under warranty, that's a one second problem to fix, you must be lazy, your complaint is laughable, etc etc). After that he belittles me for not knowing how to fix it myself. After that he attacks another pool service company as incompetent to hide his own incompetency. My pool turned green because his company was scheduled to do their work before the regular service company would be willing to return. Sharp pool creations couldn't open a combination lock.... they don't know how to even though they had the code (and they call me laughable and lazy because I don't know how to turn the pool out of service mode)!! Guess what I did? I called their tech and walked him through how to turn the combination lock. Which is more than this company has done for me with my issue! It didn't work, I had to eventually remove the lock for them, so incompetent. So their incompetence pushed back the schedule on everything including my regularly scheduled pool maintenance...... That's why my pool turned green.... Because of you Matt.... not because of the other guys. BECAUSE OF YOUR INCOMPETENCE. Because you couldn't complete the job on schedule!! Take Responsibillity!!! Of all the contractors we have used remodeling our pool was by far the best experience. From the very beginning Matt was extremely helpful. He came to our first appointment with pictures and ideas. His creativity was amazing. The quality of the work is top notch. We were doing our remodel long distance and Matt was great at keeping in touch with us every day. Lack of communication and desire to follow up and make my job feel like it was a priority was disappointing.

I met with Matt (owner) after another pool company failed to correctly fix a relatively easy pump housing leak and refused to correct the issue through our home warranty (new home purchase). I spoke with Matt on the phone - he was extremely professional and easy to communicate with regarding the issue(s). He diagnosed the prob on the phone and had his tech (Matt) come out next day and fix the leak in 30 minutes. Matt was also very professional, on-time, and extremely knowledgeable. I also worked with Matt (owner) on pool chems and basic pool operation since this pool is new to me and I wanted to get a handle on the chemicals and function. He was gracious with his time - provided me a chem kit and thoroughly explained chemicals and pool function -- these guys know pools! I had another issue with two return line valves -- instead of using my home warranty company, I called Matt and had them fix the problem. Again, Tech Matt came out right away and had this issue solved in 30 minutes. He also took extra time with me as I showed him my skimmer and vac to make sure it was correct - Matt didn't hesitate to stay an extra 15 minutes to make sure it was correct (manually vac pool from the skimmer) This is my second home purchase in the north Phx area -- I have dealt with every type of contractor from the foundation to the roof and Sharp Pool Creations is the best company I have dealt with from initial contact to workmanship. If you are looking for a professional pool company -- you need to call Matt.
