We have been with Island Time for 15+ years. During this time, I have found their service to be of great value, consistent, diligent, honest, and caring. Specifically, the pools cleaners assigned to us (Larry, Kyle) have always taken time to converse with us about pool/pump/cleaning, issues which help us save time and money. Their service department is also exceptional. Recently (this week), I had a service technician (Scott) solve a problem in minutes after I had spent hours trying to address. Thank you, Scott. Honestly do not do business with them. I wish I'd read these reviews, but they are 100 percent correct. Not only do they break equipment and intentionally create issues so they can "fix it" they completely take advantage of their customers. Additionally, I've had 0 - I mean 0 consistency on the individual who would clean my pool. It's extremely uncomfortable to see a new person outside my door (entering my gate unannounced) every single time they come out. Additionally, service days were NEVER consistent. RE: Cost. I agreed to pay more because I thought they were a premium service. What a joke - my pool never had so many issues. They overcharge for the market and the value is definitely out of scope. They upcharge every single chemical by nearly criminal amounts (and again it's a MYSTERY what you're being charged). They have 0 communication with their customers and apparently have expectations they don't communicate. It's apparent they're running a scam and really... truly... don't care about what happens to your pool - because they'll CHARGE you to fix it. I promise you, this company is a complete scam that hides behind a wall with 0 etiquette or customer service - completely rude and aggressive in their approach which is unreal coming from a business. As a professional myself who deals with customers, I could never (ever) imagine taking they approach they take when presented with issues or concerns. I agree with Buster... RUN... don't walk. ** Please DO read the other comments about "billing" - they charge $40 on an unclear turnaround expectation with NO INVOICES or NO NOTIFICATION on charges. You're BLINDLY charged - truly! And if you're NOT allowing automatic payments so they can rip you off with 0 documentation they will assess unreal fees that they NEVER explain or document. These guys are servicing my pool prior to me moving into the house. They offered a two week free service. And completely messed up the chlorine levels in my pool so badly and are not taking responsibility for it. Multiple phone calls with no call back! Free chlorine over 24 and stabilizer level of 165!!! Run, don't walk, far away from this company and their shady business practices. I hired them recently, and received an invoice. The invoice was due before the date it was even received in the mail. I sent a check, only to have a $40 late payment fee - yes, that's right, $40 late fee! assessed on my next bill. I don't think it's even legal to charge that high of a fee when you say your invoices have a 15 day turnaround, but the customer receives them after the due date. I was told I could enroll in auto pay to fix this, but no way am I giving this shady company access to my CC. Their prices are higher than my old company, and I regret switching. I used Island time pool service a couple years back and they sent out a young guy with a huge attitude. He was not wrapping up the hose for backwashing. He left it in a pile. I called in and asked them to please have him roll up the hose from now on. (Don't all pool services automatically do that?) The next week I drove up just as he was getting in his truck and noticed the hose had not been rolled up. I asked him to do it please. He got out of his truck and slammed the door. I asked him if it wasn't routine to do it? He said " It's no big deal. He got back in his truck and slammed his door again. I called into the company and told them I was canceling my service. They called me 6 months later and said I owed them money. I paid for the month at the beginning of the month. I spoke with the lady and she said I owed them a month of service. I told her it was already paid. I went into a dealership today to purchase a car and found out that this past January they filed on my credit report that I owe them $170. I feel like they are holding me hostage. Once again I am angry and I don't owe any money! STAY AWAY FROM THEM! read more

I'm surprised by some of these negative reviews, but perhaps they are for one-off service with a newer or unusual employee....but we've had a wonderful experience with Island Time! We hired Island Time Pool Service last year after trying out a few different pool services. We've had Kyle as our main service provider for almost a year now, and he always does an amazing job! He's very professional, never misses an appointment and always keeps our pool in perfect condition. He didn't miss a beat when we started a large stucco project that left most of the patio surrounding our pool covered in plastic tarp and wet stucco drippings - he always kept doing a full clean and vacuum during the two months of construction. He's excellent - we're so happy to have someone maintaining our pool so that we can forget the headache! Another great thing that Island Time does is track when to clean/spray down our filters so that everything continues to run properly. I'd rather pay for these great upkeep services than have a huge surprise bill when something goes wrong with the pool equipment due to misuse. I'd also like to add that even if you hire a service to handle your pool, you still need to do the work to understand how your pool works (at least the basics) and be proactive if you notice something off or if there's a weather event. We make sure our chlorine is always topped off, and generally make sure that the chemicals stay balanced so that we don't get added charges for the Island Time team to handle the chemicals. I appreciate that they offer this service to make sure everything runs properly, but I'm happy to put in a little effort and keep some chemicals stocked to save! read more

We hired Island time for weekly pool service but they literally stopped coming to our house after the first or second service. This turned our pool green. When we called and asked them to come out and fix the algae situation in our pool, they said they would but never came. We cancelled our service but they continued to charge us. Now we're in dispute with the bank over the automatic charges. Aaaaamd our pool is still green despite spending tons of time and money trying to fix it. We'll have to empty our pool to get it right. Island Time also charges hundreds of dollars for chemicals that cost about $20 retail. If I could give negative 5 stars, I would! read more

There have been many problems with this pool along the way, some caused by landscapers busting pipes, to replacing small parts here and there, to helping me with options to upgrade the pool (ex. lights, filter). Island Time Pool Service replaced a gasket in April on my Pentair pool pump. The gasket seemed to have a small leak appear in October & I reached back out to Island Time. Scott responded the same day & was out to the property to replace it the next day. We were outside of the 90 day warranty window on the original gasket and Scott replaced it for free. These guys were good for awhile, I have been a customer for 2-3 years. Then they started having high turnover and were sending different pool guys to my house every week. They were supposed to take care of a fountain and they burned out 2 pumps by turning them off walking away and the timer kicked back on and the pump was not primed and they BURNED OUT 2 PUMPS! i paid for the first one and let them know then they did it again and I asked them to pay for it AND THEY REFUSED. Bad business practice. I had to call them several weeks in a row because they wouldn't show to clean my pool on time and were leaving sand in the spa and my fountain stayed dirty. We have a California Pool, which is 4 years old. Pump stopped working and we called California Pools and they said it's out of warranty and offered little help other than telling us to call Hayward. Hayward gave me a long list of preferred companies to take a look at our pool. I looked up each company and finally decided on Island Time. So glad I did. They came out and diagnosed my pool problem as a complimentary service. Then they told us about a special warranty program that saved us a bunch of money. California Pools didn't alert us to any of this until we had to contact them to enroll us in the program. I called Island Time, and over the phone agreed to begin pool service for the one month we would be out of town. The service was quoted to include chemicals. I left my email address and cell phone number with the representative in case they needed to contact me. We left three days later. I received a message telling me the pool person successfully accessed the property -- no problem. When we returned 4 weeks later, I had a $394.00 bill waiting for me! It turned out that I was charged for all chemicals, and some equipment. No one emailed or called to ask me if I did, in fact, want the "extras," and, the chemical were not included. I sent a check for $200.00 which seemed more than fair for 4 weeks service. To avoid negative credit rating, etc. however, I will have to pay the remaining $194.33. Beware!! If you want to use this company, get everything in writing! They took advantage of my absence to "pad the bill." Wow! I just looked below -- and it seems like these people like to scam those of us who are not home during service time. read more

I don't like owning a pool. In fact, I offer anyone who will listen the opportunity to dig it up and take it home for free. No takers yet. For 10 years, we used the typical "guy with a pickup truck" pool service. I assumed having it look clean for 3 days and kind of ok for 4 days was normal - after all, the vacuum can't reach all parts of the pool, right? And then our pool company had ownership issues and quality declined. In desperation, I turned to Island Time due to their glowing review on the Nextdoor app - and their web page that states they pay above industry wages and offer employees health insurance. Island Time offered a next-day estimate that ultimately led to approximately $1800 in repairs. After the last repair, the water was downright murky. My immediate thoughts were, "oh my god, what have we done?" The last thing I ever wanted to do was actually put money into the pool, and it looked worse than ever. I called their receptionist who told me the supervisor would come out to clean the pool himself the next day...and my relationship with my pool has never been the same. I had no idea the pool could look clean and inviting 7 days a week, that water could actually sparkle, nor that employees could leave a detailed checklist every week stating the work completed and chemicals applied. The pool vacuum reaches every corner. The filter and motor hum. The pool is a pleasure to look at...and even use. I am even beginning to think about remodeling the pool, so the physical plant looks as good as the water that fills it. Island Time is certainly not the cheapest pool service. But like many things in life - you get exactly what you pay for. They are professional, prompt, and a pleasure to do business with. Call Island Time and fall in love with your pool. read more

I meant to write a review on the good folks at Island Time earlier, but have just been too busy. Long story short - I bought my home in May and it had a pool. I didn't have a clue how to maintain a pool. I just heard from folks at my job at how complicated it was, how you needed to be a chemist to figure it all out, etc. Well, I don't even remember how I found these guys, but I'm glad I did. Scott came out the first time and met me and gave me pool 101 and explained to me what type of pool I had, how my filter system worked, etc. It turned out I had a salt water pool, but the prior owner had been operating it as a chlorine pool. Over the course of a few months, and just a few visits, Scott had me running and taking care of my system and I am pretty confident in saying that I know how to take care of my pool, keep it maintained, and if by some chance I need to get the professionals - I'll be calling Island Time Pools. So now that summer is over, and the water is getting a little too cold - I can say with pride that I had zero issues with my water quality. No coming home and finding it turned green, no bacteria or molds... nothing. I just use test strips every couple of days and with Scott's help I know how to treat the water if the colors aren't quite where they need to be. I'm not a pro like them, but I have confidence that I know what I'm doing and that is what I REALLY needed from a pool service company - the ability for them to transfer their knowledge to me so I can feel good and confident about owning my pool. Recently the mechanics which holds together the pool filter broke and since my pool equipment is on a lower grade than the pool itself, the water was gushing out faster than I could fill it. Not only did they finally admit that the pool maintenance person did not come, they did not refund for the times he didn't show. They nickel and dime you to death by making you supply the chlorine, adding a fuel surcharge, additional chemicals, and they are not consistent.
