Finally decided to call other service companies when Cal Pools proved difficult to reach outside of "phone tag". Other companies didn't even return my call- McCool's Pools DID. Not only did they respond, they didn't try to upsell me on a whole new filter system- they suggested replacing the unions saving us thousands. They also installed a new salt cell system since our old Hayward could not communicate with any other salt cell systems due to age. Stay far away from this company. Months of poor service, false reports, and zero accountability. They let our salt cell become caked with scale, doubled the salt level to dangerous levels (forcing us to drain half the pool), and nearly shut off flow to our heater--costing us weeks without a working spa and a service bill we shouldn't have paid. We caught techs on camera skipping basic tasks like brushing and basket cleaning, staging photos for reports, and even taking drinks from our fridge without asking. Filter cleanings were overpriced, rushed, and messy, with bills coming early and no real work done. Unprofessional, unreliable, and unethical. The only thing they did reliably was remove our safety net for maintenance--which in hindsight was not worth the damage, hassle, and dishonesty. read more

Great company and very responsive. They came out and replaced our old single speed pool pump with a variable speed pump. The install was quick and the new pump runs like a dream. We also had them replace a burned out light in our spa. Even though it took them a couple of trips to finish the job, they did a great job. (Nothing on them - the cord length for the light wasn't long enough so they needed to drain the spa some.) The owner and employees were great. I was looking for someone to maintain our yard and found Zach and McCools Home Management through Nextdoor. At this point we cannot be more pleased. Zach has done a great job communicating his arrival times both when he was looking to bid on the job as well as when he was going to do the work. I read a previous review mentioning communication issues and I think that was an unfortunate case of poor timing and unforeseen circumstances. I have not met the other owners but I sense Zach understands he is in a competitive service business and knows communication and timely service is very important to maintain and build a business. Zach's work was excellent. What I was most impressed with is his strong work ethic for a gentlemen in his mid 20's. He could be an example for a number of people I know and see. He has a nice understanding of the native landscape and plants and our yard has never looked better. We received three or four bids and their pricing was right in line with others. Why I picked McCool is I did not have to send reminder texts or wait a week for a bid. Another thing I appreciate is their billing system. You receive an email and can pay immediately with a credit card. No scrambling to run inside and get the checkbook like I have had to do with others when the work is complete. Mccool pools did a decent job cleaning the pool and adding chemicals, however, when it comes to leaks that's a different story. If you want someone to just clean your pool but ignore leaks coming from your pump equipment this is your company. read more

Watch your bank account with this company people! McCool Pools charged us for a full month of service in November when only a prorated amount was authorized. After contacting them, their remedy was to provide free service in January - they then proceeded to charge us for the month of January. After contacting them again they refunded the January payment, we requested they not charge our bank account again and so they stopped all services and did not continue to provide services throughout the month. I needed some fast cleanup for our front yard before company came in. I called five landscape companies and only one did I find a live body. I spoke to Zach he put me on the immediate schedule and actually worked on the Fourth of July. He completely transformed our front yard I didn't even know the problems that we had till he got rid of all of them. EXTREMELY pleased with the Steve and his crew at McCools Pools & Home Management. Upon purchasing a home, I decided one of my household duties would be to take care of our new pool.
