For example my key box attached to my gate was malfunctioning and I was promptly notified of the problem in my pool report email. Read full -- I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for pool service. I hired T's Pools two months before switching to a new provider, and the difference was night and day. Tyler started off professional, offering a two-pool discount for me and my neighbor, but things quickly changed. He began dumping excessive chemicals into my pool, including 20 chlorine tabs in one visit, then charged me for extra baskets to hold them. When I asked why, he became immediately defensive and unprofessional, saying "you must have a better degree in water science than I do," and "I don't know how you handled pools in Illinois, but that's not how we do it here." I've lived in Arizona for 8 years and maintained this pool myself for 4--his tone was unnecessary and condescending. When I asked what chlorine level he was aiming for, he told me 10 ppm at minimum. I referenced guidance from Leslie's Pool Supplies, which recommends 1-4 ppm for residential pools, but he couldn't explain his reasoning and continued to respond poorly. Two other pool professionals later confirmed that the chlorine levels were far too high and said they were shocked to hear anyone would add 20 tabs a week in March. Tyler then went back on our flat-rate agreement, saying he was "losing money on chemicals," and invoiced me for multiple charges including extra chemicals, three baskets and a skimmer replacement. When I inspected the work, I found a cheap basket with a hole cut in it and a hose jammed through--making it practically useless. He also quoted me for a filter replacement due to a cracked pipe. I got eight other quotes, and his was the second highest. The company I went with drained, scrubbed, refilled, balanced the pool, and installed a larger, better filter--all for $1,000 less than Tyler's quote. He never even suggested draining the pool, which is what ultimately fixed the issue he kept trying to treat with more chemicals. I've since fired T's Pools and switched to the other company. A few weeks later, my neighbor also expressed concerns about surprise chemical charges from Tyler. Safe to say, I made the right call. read more
