Tiles were coming off above the waterline of our pool and we had cracks in the deck. Jeff proposed a solution using rebar "staples" to stabilize the cracks. He then filled them in, reapplied and painted the cool deck, and finally replaced the missing tiles. Jeff did an excellent job within the time he estimated. Jeff came out and gave a great quote for the work we wanted done and could start "tomorrow", which they did. They came out and started the project strong, and then were MIA for 2 days. Then they came back for half a day, then gone for 2 more days. It went on like this for 3 1/2 weeks (for a project he said he'd knock out in a week). He did a great job on the pavers in the front. The concrete in the back looks great, but took forever and I had to spend 2 days cleaning up the bits of concrete all over my yard. And cigarette butts too. Everywhere. The paint was messy and incomplete. There's even concrete I still have to clean out of the front yard too, which makes our pretty river wash look crappy. He left the trash he was supposed to haul, worked sporadically and often came late and worked into the night. They left concrete in our pool for our new filter to clean out. They just really didn't have the eye for detail at the end that they did have at the start. And the new irrigation lines they ran have leaks because he drove nails into the irrigation lines for an add on fake grass piece. I wanted to hire them for some more work we need done out there but we just don't want to deal with the stress and unprofessionalism. read more

Sent Bamboo pools a Yelp request for a quote to replace my dead single speed pump. I wanted the Intelliflo VSF since it the best for saving electricity and keeping the pool clean. No one in the Valley of the Sun had one in stock. Called Leslie's and they had one in Dallas, TX and one in Orlando, FL. Aint' gonna get to Phoenix in time. Pentair is having some terrible supply issues and deliveries are way backed up. By pure luck Jeff remembered he had a new one rat holed away in his shop. I get an email from him the next day saying yes, he could install one, "When are you ready for me to come by?" I said "tomorrow," Jeff said "see you in the afternoon tomorrow." I am one lucky friggin' guy!!! Jeff installed the pump and had it working in a couple of hours. Programmed the beast as well for several different cycles. Amazing service! I found Bamboo here on Yelp, and noticed the glowing reviews and decided to give em a shot. Jeff did not disappoint! I called on a Sunday afternoon, expecting to get an answering machine or maybe be able to schedule something later in the week, but no... Jeff went out of his way to come by just hours later, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and with very reasonable fees. My pool had turned green, as the weather started warming up, to the point where you couldn't even see the bottom. But Jeff came by around 7 the same day that I called, and even worked for a few hours in the dark to get my pool cleared up. The next morning, the water is back to blue, all the pumps are running great (they were completely clogged), and you can clearly see the bottom again. Again, excellent and very friendly service! Had Jeff out a few years ago to do work on our pool filter. He's not a great communicator, but did good work. No issues with the filter since then. Tried to have him replace our pool light, and communication went very sideways on this job. He didn't call or text when he said he would and days would pass in radio silence. In the end, ended up cancelling the pool light install due to communication issues and personality conflict. If you're schedule is wide open (can have the job done someday at the whim of the owner) and you don't mind difficult communication, I'd say go for it.....he does good work. But if those things matter to you, move on! You'll end up very frustrated. read more

Sand was coming into our pool from the filter after we had just replaced the sand ourselves. I called after hours , he came out right away. We travel quite a bit and are new pool owners, so maintenance has been very difficult to this point. I'll admit that was pool was in very rough shape once - black algae, swampy, etc. Jeff has been phenomenal since day 1. He was very transparent and up front about the long term issues with black algae and what steps we need to take next. He worked tireless on that first day to stop the bleeding and get the pool turned around. It was night and day - just 1 day later. He made recommendations on a (variable) pump upgrade to save energy - which we knew would come up based on a recent energy audit. Jeff was able to get a new pump installed a couple days later - whereas most companies would take more time to schedule that out. He even made some cosmetic changes to our pump/cartridge area - looks so much nicer. Not to mention he was here until 11:30pm at night working to get it done. Jeff is a true professional that is passionate about his work and doing right by his clients. He's quick to communicate regardless of how busy he may get. Then came Jeff with Bamboo Pool Service, he was friendly, communicated well, and came by to give me a quote. I had a short deadline because I'm selling my house and needed it before the pictures were taken. Jeff came by twice, once to prep and fill the gaps, and then to finish it. He spent a lot of time here making sure it matched as best as it could without redoing the entire deck (I did not want to do the whole deck). I am so incredibly frustrated right now with Jeff and his subcontractor Muro Pools. 5 weeks ago Jeff told me the pool would be completed in 10-14 days. This process has been one nightmare after another from the very beginning. So far from what I can tell, Jeff himself does good work when he shows up, and he is very nice - but everything else has been like pulling teeth. Communication has sucked. He calls or texts back only about 20% of the time - the rest of it has been me constantly hounding him to try to figure out what's going on. I hate to write a poor review - especially after reading so many nice 5-star ones on his profile.. I guess many pool people tend to take on too many clients in the "busy season" and over promise and under deliver. All I know is that I was assured this project would be done by three weeks ago.. and now it's 117 degrees outside and I still have a big empty hole in my backyard. But who knows... maybe we will be swimming by this weekend and I'll get to remove this review and write a happier one. Fingers crossed. read more

Jeff does great work and is incredibly fair on pricing. I used Yelp to find a pool repair place for the deck of my pool. It had a very large crack in it which was getting worse. I got 5 places to message me back and only 3 could do the work. Jeff at Bamboo Pools was the only one to give me the details I needed for working on this. He asked for pictures and then quoted me a very fair price. When he started work we talked about some of the other issues, like a stain in the pool, tiles missing on the wall of the pool, the water filler not working properly and a space between my patio and deck that needed something other than the ugly brick I put in. To my amazement Jeff started to work on these thing and came up with solutions for all of them. Jeff worked late into the night on several days to get everything done. He even went out and bought a pool grate to fill the space that my wife hated so much between the deck and the pool. He told me he bought it, but if we didn't want to pay for the cost he could return it to the store. She loves the way it looks now. He brought his family to help him at one point. We really enjoyed interacting with his wife and two daughters. They are really good people and the daughters were incredibly intelligent and artistic. My wife and I had them in our kitchen and they painted and drew while we chatted. Such a solid Christian family. When the work was done we couldn't have been more happy. The price was extremely fair and Jeff addressed so many unplanned things I was worried about what it might have cost. For all that he did I am very satisfied with the workmanship and price. Jeff came out the same day I put in an inquiry and fixed my pool. Other repair people had told me it was a faulty pump but Jeff spent time to find the real reason for the lack of water flow. Finally! In the past 6-7 months, I have called at least 20 pool companies for various needs. Most either didn't call back, even if they said they would. Many scheduled appointments and just didn't show, showed and were incompetent. You name it, I've seen it. Had some scheduling appointments for weeks or longer away even when not in the height of the season. Frankly, I thought most of these people just don't want to work... and I still believe that. Today, I had the pleasure of doing business with Jeff from Bamboo Pools and his assistant Tim. I found them here on Yelp through reviews, so thanks to all of you! Called yesterday due to a problem with my gas heater. They came today! Yes, that is 1 day later. Went through testing various parts, and found what they feel is likely the problem, and it will need to be ordered. They also suggested a better program for my pump to save money on electrical. They gave other tips, since currently I maintain it on my own. They respected that and didn't try to force me into a contract. They also were very reasonable in their fee - certainly compared to others.Hope they were right in their diagnosis, but I will certainly have them finish this job, and if right- any work in the future. No need to keep calling around. No need to put yourself through the frustration that I have had. If you have a pool problem, call Jeff at Bamboo Pools...and relax - you will soon be back enjoying your pool, instead of calling one company after the other! That - as always is the truth. Great service. I have been doing some work around the house recently. One of the things was repairing a leak in pool filter. Had a different company out first. They missed the initial appointment without a phone call or text. Left messages with no return call. Just showed up 5 days later. Said that it needed a new filter. Just the filter was going to be $1100 plus other parts that may come up during install. Also could not give a labor estimate until job complete. Agreed to do the job. Said he would be back next day. Same thing no call or text no show. After waiting 4 days I seen a post on offer up with a picture of the filter I need. Responded to the post and he responded in less than 5 minutes. Gave me a price of less than half original quote including all parts supplies, and labor. Told me he would be to my house in 2 hours. Thought it would be the same as every other company. To my surprise Jeff introduced himself at the time he said he would be at my home. Showed him where everything was. Checked everything out himself and agreed that the filter would have to be replaced. He immediately went b of it. If you are thinking of having Jeff do any work for you. Do it. I found these guys online and jeff quotes me the best price in town for an installed variable speed pump and sole other miscellaneous pool repairs. When Jeff got to my house i also showed him some other complaints I had with the current installation of the filter. He ended up tearing everything out and rebuilt all of the PVC so that the filter was installed correctly. Additionally he did a full pool service including cleaning out the cartridges.
