They need to put better signage for the self-order line -- where people who haven't ordered and aren't close to ordering can see them! There's a regular line and an iPad in corner that says self-order. I didn't see the self-order iPad until I was 2nd in line. The lady in front of me goes to order on the self-serve and then a guy waltz's up behind her and reprimands her for cutting him off even though she had been in the line for a bit and he had just waltzed up. 3.5 Although not my favorite boba spot, I do love that they give you the option to split cups! Especially during a pandemic, when you don't want everyone sharing from the same straw. Also very budget friendly if you're watching kiddos that all want boba drinks, but you know they'd never be able to finish a regular size. I hate getting a regular size boba drink, just to throw more than half of it away. Splitting the cup in 2...game changer! These shops are just as good as their equivalents, whether boba shops, ice cream parlors, or desserts shops. Like similar shops, they improvised to enhance the experience. The prices are reasonable and even $1+ cheaper than a few well-known places. There is almost always a line though the ordering is quick. It is the wait for drinks to be ready for pick-up (borders on 10 minutes) that deters us from going more often. Still, it depends on your wait tolerance but the drinks values made up for it. Ordering is straightforward, and you can easily customize your drink flavors. You're going to be paying $5+ for basic milk tea, and the price only goes up from there. This location is more expensive than the Berkeley location I used to go to, but slightly cheaper than the new Westfield location in the mall. The normal boba is pretty mediocre; the texture is okay but it's pretty tasteless (I especially dislike the new boba in the Tiger Milk Boba -- it's softer than their normal boba and even more tasteless). Love that they have a large variety of drinks and offer mini boba though, as most places don't. Their milk teas are pretty milky with a lighter tea taste. PANDEMIC POST (TAKE-OUT) They're still open! You wait outside of the mall complex and follow the instructions on the door to submit your order. I don't usually write reviews based on one experience. Sharetea is one of my go-to places in other cities. However, I must say that I had the most challenging pandemic take-out experience at Sharetea. My impression was also exacerbated by the negative experience with my specific order. I ordered through Yelp. The wait was pretty long, even though I saw no one else waiting in line. Occasionally it looked like some DoorDash workers came to pick up delivery orders. I suspect that my order must have gone unnoticed for some time. I confirmed with the Sharetea barista that they received my order. \\ tiger milk boba - the price reflected the social media hype that i had hoped was fading... and was more expensive than the classic black milk tea with boba - this was more painful because the special round bottom cup was pretty small - the saddest part was that it looked nothing like the pictures: there were much fewer pearls, and it did not have the "tiger" appearance I would recommend against trying the Sharetea version of the tiger milk boba. Instead, stick with their tried and true options. It was a hassle for me to get to this location, so I don't think I'll be trying that again anytime soon. read more

Stopped by here on a Friday night and was able to order in advanced through Yelp. There are options to either have it brought out to you or go inside of the Metreon to pick it up. I opted for the latter. I was nervous about ordering at this location since parking around the Metreon can be tricky pretty much 24/7, but luckily I was able to find a loading spot not far from the entrance. Considering the limited staff due to COVID, the two staff members there were tentative to the mini rush of customers and UberEats drivers. The staff was also kind and acknowledged each customer they came into contact with, ensuring each order would be ready soon. I ordered a strawberry mojito and a mango mojito and both drinks did not disappoint. They were equally refreshing and tasty! It was a pleasing experience, so this will not be my last visit to this location. read more

Though you can adjust the sweetness, you really do not need to because most of their taste is just enough. The price ($4-5) is affordable for the size you're getting. It's a little bigger than a regular size, but just enough so you won't get overwhelmed. The location cannot be beat because it's in the heart of downtown SF and it's inside a mall with many different stores, a theater, and a food court. Bad customer service and the drinks took really long. Mixed up orders at the 135 4th street location near the movie ticket section. I also asked for normal sweetness and they gave me something that tasted like it was 25%, the boba was the only thing making it sweet. There's not even a coffee flavor. Its watered down and bitter. My pregnant supervisor has boba cravings at least once a week. That means we've been ordering boba from Sharetea through GrubHub at least 1 - 3x a week in the last 2 months. Why yes, that's why I've been starting to look like a boba too! :( #weddingdietbedamned I've always gotten the Okinawan pearl tea and I like how you can request it to 30% sweetness now which is just right for me. I was informed at the San Mateo location that I can't change the sweetness level because it's made with powder. One day last week, I decided to mix it up and try something new. I ordered the whole lemon black tea WITH boba. But does it come with boba? no, it did not. They also completely messed up my supervisor's order when we ordered 13 drinks, but when it got delivered to us, one of the drinks cracked and exploded in the bag. And it happened to be hers. Since lightbulb boba containers are somewhat an emerging trend I was on a side-quest in downtown SF to find a shop that serves the drink in this manner. After YTS'ing (Yelping that !@#$), I found Sharetea so I made my way towards it. It's straight up in the Metreon near the area you can buy movie tickets. Basically, there were 4 different drinks you could get in the lightbulb container. I ended up going with a basic Pearl Milk Tea. There was really nothing else to it other than a boba drink in a differently shaped container. I know presentation is important, but I just didn't get a kick out of it. To make matters worse, the boba wasn't cold enough, it tasted bland, and it just seemed like a big gimmick as if I were a real victim of business marketing trickery. I don't doubt that this place serves other good drinks, but the lightbulb thing is a trend that I honestly think is not going to last. They seem to control it in intervals of 25% Had the Taro fresh milk at 0% sweetness, still thought it was too sweet. Adding boba for 50 cents, the total was $6 which is about $1 more than iTea. This one, in particular, has some novelty in that if you're looking to watch a movie upstairs, you can buy your ticket, buy some milk tea. However, Sharetea doesn't offer much in terms of drink quality, with fairly basic flavors and fixings. It's nothing particularly flavorful or special but positions itself fairly conveniently. While I would pick it over a standard movie theater soda that costs the same if I was craving something to drink, definitely not something I would go out of my way to get. It's also convenient being located so close to a lot of downtown dinner options and open later (closes at 9 as opposed to 7) than most boba places in the area, so it's a viable option for an after-dinner "dessert"/drink of sorts. read more

Stopped at this location of Sharetea when visiting the Metreon a couple of days ago. Decided to keep it simple and get a Classic Milk Tea ($5). Service seemed a little slow as there were a bunch of people already waiting for their drinks after ordering but it was within the 10-minute mark which is not too bad. The tea was very average. There were a couple things that stood out. It was not strong enough, had that weird after-taste of non-dairy creamer and finally the 50% sweet was a little too bland for me. So the learning here is to ask if they have some regular whole milk, skim milk etc. that can be used in the milk tea and to stick to their default sweetness level which is already at the not-too-sweet mark. I have never been a huge fan of Sharetea (especially the Geary location) but I was at the Metron and decided to give it another try in the spirit of Christmas. I honestly really just wanted to try the Bubble Light collection because of the lightbulb that the drink comes in LOL so basic... I had the green milk tea which was not as bad as I remembered it to be, although nothing outstanding either. It was a little too milky for me and didn't have enough tea flavor, and it still tasted a little too sweet even at 50% sweetness. The boba was nice and chewy, just the way I like it. However, the quantity you get definitely seems to be less than a regular cup, and it cost me $6.89... I get that I'm paying for this reusable lightbulb and I'm glad I tried it but I honestly probably wouldn't get it again. The line was pretty long when my friends and I went around 3pm but it moved quickly enough, and I didn't feel like I waited a long time for my drink either, like other reviewers mentioned. I actually kind of like this location because you can enjoy your drink outside on the lawn or by the mini waterfall, and the weather in this area is almost always sunny! Sharetea will definitely never be my boba go-to, but it definitely will satisfy your craving. Their tea is usually a bit oversteeped but I don't mind that because it keeps the milk from watering it down. (Tip: the milk they use really waters the drink down, so instead order crema and mix that in as a milk substitute). On that note, sharetea has the best crema around. I am always struggling to find good crema, but when I'm craving it I always end up ordering from here. On a bad note lol.... these guys have recently switched to paper straws, which is good, but they need stronger paper straws. I finished my drink in about 20 mins.... the straw was starting to get soggy after the fourth sip. About halfway through the drink, the tip was starting to disintegrate, and by the end of my drink, the straw was broken and unusable. I couldn't get boba through it, either. (Pictures attached of straw.) I think if they could find a better plastic straw substitute (Boba Guys uses bamboo!), then they could get that fourth star. read more

So I've decided to not do doubles of a chain unless I have to. 1 Sharetea, 1 Quickly, and so forth. Located in the Metreon food court, there's ShareTea. Decorated with bright white walls and clear, clean pastels, it's a nice sight to behold when in need of refreshments. Nice service here. Nothing to complain about but nothing to say this was the best and worth noting. Go to order: Jasmine Green Milk Tea with large tapioca with regular ice and 30 percent sweetness. $4ish coastwise. A little too sweet than asked for, more ICE than expected for a regular share, and the boba was a bit chewy. Dropped by on Friday, April 17th around 2:30pm. I was craving a milk tea and finally decided to check them out. There was a line, so from start until I got my drink, I'd say the wait was about 30 mins. I got the Classic milk tea, black ($3.75), +Herb jelly (+$0.50), +Pearls (+$0.50), +Coffee jelly (+$0.50) which ended up being $5.60 total. I'm not sure if their menu prices are wrong or if this included the tax, but I can't seem to make the math work out correctly. Oh well, not a big deal since it's not that much of a difference anyways. I normally get it 30% sweet and with less milk. This is good for me as I don't like my tea too sweet. I could have probably done with even less milk, but the ratio was fine. The balls are soft and chewy. The herb jelly silky. The coffee jelly isn't my fav. Not much flavor and the pieces are rather big considering the texture is firmer than herb jelly. Would be easier to eat/drink if the pieces were smaller. Last Thursday, I dropped by and got my tea with less ice. I don't actually like it with less ice as the tea didn't get cold. Not a huge fan of somewhat warm milk tea. Make sure to get their loyalty card as you can work your way to a free drink. I grabbed one my first time here since it's close to work and I crave milk tea about once a week.
