I didn't have high expectations when I ordered doordash boba to my hotel. I mostly picked based on proximity and availability of good fruit boba flavors, since I don't like milk tea. Got the mango tea with boba and the red dragonfruit tea with aloe, both 50% sweet. The dragonfruit one is AMAZING and tastes like real dragonfruit, delicate and yum if you love fresh dragonfruit like I do. Mango one is also great although less special because lots of places have a fresh mango boba on the menu. Both are definitely made with fresh fruit puree, you can taste the bits still. My SO said he would have preferred 100% sweetness (recommended by the store) because the mango one isn't that sweet, but if you like Asian sweetness levels, 50% is perfect (no need to go 25%). read more

Absolutely terrible experience. 2026/6/23 This place says it closes at 11:00 PM, and we arrived at 10:45 PM with our kids and friends. There were 12 of us, and we ordered 8 drinks -- well before closing time. Instead of simply letting us know if they were no longer taking orders, the employee chose to be incredibly rude and disrespectful. They were clearly angry, throwing things around, acting irritated, and making the entire situation uncomfortable for everyone. We were treated as if we had done something wrong by ordering during posted business hours. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. What made it even worse was that customers were still coming in after us, yet the employee acted like they wanted to kick us out as fast as possible. The drinks were also a huge disappointment. They looked nothing like the photos and tasted bad. We've been coming here for 7-8 years, and this was by far the worst experience we've ever had. We even tipped, which honestly makes the whole thing even more frustrating. If you don't want to serve customers before closing, then change your hours. Don't leave the doors open and then treat paying customers with disrespect. read more

I used to stop by this store pretty often for boba, but I'm writing this review because of a sanitation concern, an inconsistent policy, and a "very unpleasant" experience I had today. On multiple occasions, I saw employees simply rinse my returned bottle with water, "without detergent", and immediately refill it with the drink I ordered. I've also seen employees take properly washed bottles from their dishwashing machine, so I know they do have clean bottles available. I wasn't comfortable drinking from "a bottle that had only been quickly rinsed with water". So after seeing this happen a few times, I started asking if I could put my returned bottle in their bottle return basket and have my drink served in one of the clean bottles instead. Every employee I asked before today kindly said yes and still gave me the 10% discount. Today, however, a manager I had never seen before told me, "I won't give you a discount if you put that bottle in the bottle basket." She said I could only get the discount if I handed the bottle to her and let her wash it and refill it with my drink. I explained why I didn't want to do that and told her that all the other employees I had asked had allowed me to put it in the basket. She responded that regardless of what they had done before, she would tell them not to do it anymore. What bothered me even more was "her attitude" throughout the conversation. Her tone was "very firm and dismissive", and she looked visibly annoyed while I was simply trying to explain why I wasn't comfortable having my drink put into a bottle that had only been quickly rinsed before. I wasn't trying to argue with her over a discount. I understand that the sign says, "10% discount if you bring back clean bottle to refill with your own drink." So if their actual rule is that I need to wash the bottle thoroughly myself before bringing it back and then reuse that same bottle, that's fine. But if that's the rule, someone could have simply told me that before. Every other employee had happily given me the discount without saying that they were making an exception. And this is the part I still don't understand. If the bottle needs to be properly cleaned to qualify, why had I seen employees simply rinse my used bottle with water and immediately refill it? They already have a dishwashing machine for returned bottles, and I've seen employees take clean bottles from it. Why is putting one more returned bottle with the others to be properly washed such a big deal, while giving me an already-clean bottle for my drink? I wasn't going to fight over about 70 cents, so I just gave up the discount. I'd rather pay the regular price than have my drink served in a bottle I don't feel was properly washed. I came here pretty often and never had an issue with the other employees, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I think the store needs to be clearer and more consistent about how this program actually works. And regardless of the policy, I don't think a reasonable concern from a regular customer needed to be handled with that kind of attitude. I'm not sure if I'll come back anytime soon read more

We ordered the roasted oolong milk tea & jasmine green milk tea with boba. The jasmine milk tea was good, can taste the tea, just the right level of sweetness & the boba was still chewy, even that late at night. The roasted oolong, while it looked well brewed, tasted a bit watered down to me & didn't really have that tea forward flavor I prefer in milk teas. Hands-down, one of the best places to get milk tea in San Frnacisco, especailly for their sustainability. All their teas come in reusable glass bottles that you can keep and compared to other ilk tea places, the prices are about the same if not sometimes cheaper. Back when working in an office everyday was the norm (pre-COVID days...like a lifetime ago), Plentea seemed like THE spot to go to when looking for an afternoon milk tea to brighten up your afternoon. We ordered a jasmine milk tea, thai tea, and house black milk tea (all with honey boba). I thought everything tasted great except for the thai tea. It had a very bitter aftertaste so I think the tea wasn't brewed correctly. I thought the drinks were pretty worth it especially since you receive a free bottle. The service was really quick. The smoothie with lactose free milk was rocking today! I had the Taro flavor which rocked, so I had two of them! I ordered the green tea iced as well, and it was a nice tea, but the boba were overdone. I didn't really enjoy the boba. I came back a second time, the same day. The Taro and Avocado flavors were sold out. I tried the Strawberry Banana flavor, and also the Peach one as well/ I would only pick the Taro flavors again. Overall, a modern store, more people stopped by here. There are more grab and go stores on Kearny Street, so getting better foot traffic overall. There is no bathrooms for customers tho. I'm shocked at the low scores because this place is Plentea good! I just happened to be in the area late on a random weeknight after an escape room session, and was thrilled that they stay open until 11 pm! Despite all this "doom loop" rhetoric, and how businesses are shutting down left and right, Plentea was actually PACKED to the rafters, which is a great thing to see. The shop itself is clean and cozy, with super high ceilings for great ventilation. The floorplan consists of a practical ramp entrance in the middle leading to the counter, with seating to the sides. The kitchen is completely open, so you can observe the bobaristas preparing your order. Speaking of the bobaristas, they are quite efficient, and hard working. Even though there were only two of them this particular evening dealing with a capacity crowd, drinks flowed out rapidly. They are also quite polite and helpful with any questions you may have. And most importantly, how do the drinks taste? Absolutely fantastic! Our group of six ordered various items (mine was Taro Milk Tea with Red Bean), and everyone gulped theirs down within minutes. Best of all, drinks are served in a glass bottle that can be reused at home for whatever your heart desires. I'm a bit of a boba bottle collector, and I use them to store various other liquids in the fridge, so I'm always happy to add to my stash. At most other places, you have to pay extra for them! Furthermore, if you bring the bottle back to the store for your next purchase, you receive 10% off! To be honest, since I hadn't been to this part of town - especially at night - in quite awhile, after hearing all of the negative press spewed out by the media, I was expecting the worst. We came in 45 minutes before closing and ordered 3 drinks. It wasn't that busy and got our drinks pretty fast. It is a cute lil spot, very aesthetic. It had very limited options. We got the Special Milk Tea, House Blend Black, and the Strawberry Fruit Tea with lychee jelly. We got to keep the glass bottles with no extra charge which I LOVED (#sustainability). Strawberry Fruit Tea wasn't sweet enough for our personal taste. We asked for lychee jelly as our topping, but they ended up giving us boba instead??? We just kept it since it was a little bit before closing. But, the boba was a little stale and hard, so it definitely wasn't fresh and has been there for a while. The Special Milk Tea was actually pretty good. The sea salt cream with the milk tea was a good mix of saltiness and tea, but I did wish there was a stronger tea flavor. I liked the addition of the oreos which added a little crunch. Don't let it get too soggy if you're a texture person like me. House Blend Black with boba had a good tea flavor. Boba was the same as the fruit tea. Nothing else to say about it, pretty much just your average black milk tea. Overall, this place was nothing special for me.
