I've realized I've been sleeping on reviewing this place for too long. Back in August 2023, I proposed to my now fiancée at this Plentea shop. It was where I first met her in 2019. I noticed the 2nd floor was closed off and for those who may not know, it used to be open to the public until 2020 for obvious reasons, so only the 1st floor was open at that point. I contacted the manager to see if I could borrow the 2nd floor for a few hours to propose and he worked with me! Such an incredible human being to chat with! I had two friends help me set up the day of and it looked so nice! The staff were very polite and helpful. Plentea helped make it a special day for us. As for the actual food and drinks, get the Deluxe Spam Musubi. I ate this every time without fail when visiting Plentea, there's just something about a nice fluffy egg on a soam musubi that changes the game. The Taro Milk Tea, Coffee Milk Tea, Thai Milk Tea ate my favorites here! The glass milk bottle they give you is such a unique concept, I love it! Check this place out! read more

This Plentea location is located on a busy street/area and parking is hit or miss, since it is SF. The shop is easy to find - the storefront is made of wood, so it stands out. Even though the interior is small - it is clean, modern, and sleek. I tried the jasmine milk tea with boba and strawberry & banana smoothie. My milk tea was decent - it was not as creamy and sweet, as I would had liked it to be, but it was not bad. Quality of drinks are really good has remained pretty consistent over the years. I ordered the earl grey milk tea with boba. One thing I really enjoy about Plentea is that the drinks are never too sweet, even at the regular sweetness level. You have the option of ordering your drink in a glass milk jar or a plastic cup, both of which are priced the same. The plastic cup is slightly larger by 4 oz. Overall, staff should be trained to have better customer service. 2.We ordered the Super Fruit Tea with Chia Seeds and Mango Tea with Lychee Jelly. Both were standard sweet and ice. We spent about $15, so for higher priced drinks, the expectations were higher. However, the drinks were horrific. The Super Fruit Tea tasted sour and old. Half the fruits were not fresh and the others were not ripe. The Mango Tea was not the best. Usually you can't go wrong with a Mango Tea but honestly this drink was disappointing and tasted watered down. Both drinks were thrown away after a few sips. 3. There's a lot of variety of drinks, a nice asynchronous digital ordering system, and they also let you know if the drink you ordered might turn out to be too sour if you go for less sweet. Plentea has been one of my favorite boba spots since I moved to SF. I haven't stopped by much since before covid, but I finally went by this weekend and their drinks still hit the same! Plentea doesn't allow you to customize the sweetness of some of their drinks, but I've always found that to be fine because they don't make their drinks as sweet as most other boba places. Also, they still have their glass bottle rewards in place! If you return 10 of their glass bottles, you get a free drink. I love this eco friendly way to reward their frequent customers! Maybe I had high hopes but this drink didn't taste as good as it looks. For $5.75 + $0.50 for the boba topping, the signature Plentea drink better have been good. By the way, there's only one size option. I thought the crushed Oreo, milk foam layer and milk tea would blend in one glorious, delicious drink. However, once the cap is placed onto the drink, and furious swirling commences, you realize you still only mainly taste the milk tea. Occasionally, you get a chunk of Oreo, but the milk foam might as well not have been there. Also, I chose 50% sweetness, but my drink wasn't sweet at all; it tasted like I got 25% sweetness. The boba was good though. Some other issues: First, I like the self-ordering computer, but wish there were more than one. Also, it wasn't obvious you had to self-order, as my group immediately approached the employee, and so did some other customers. Second, my friends' Thai Tea drinks finished first, and the last drink took a while to prepare, so I was going to bring them to my friends early. The male employee stopped me and said that "we like to give out orders all at once." So I guess maybe it would be better to order individually on the machine so that everyone can actually get his/her drink when it's made? Third, saw some reviews about being environmentally friendly, but they only had plastic straws (with plastic wrappers) when I went a couple of days ago. The girl who took our order was friendly. I ordered a Grape Plentea while my boyfriend ordered a Milktea, both with boba. When they came out, we were both confused as they both looked milky. Located on Kearny Street in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District, the boba tea drinks handcrafted at Plentea have sustained such a great quality in them since their opening in 2014 that they have quickly become stuff of San Francisco boba legend. What makes the milk and boba tea drinks stand apart from so many of their competitors is that they are made from high quality ingredients that are uniquely sourced from the San Francisco Bay Area region and throughout the world. Founder and owner Henry Tang was such a huge fan of boba milk tea drinks, yet he couldn't find one that satisfied his taste buds and also provided nourishment for both he and wife, who just happened to be pregnant at the time. After experimenting in his own kitchen with different recipes, he managed to perfect a recipe that satisfied him and his growing family, and it was so good that he felt people should have a better choice than the mass produced tea that was currently being sold in boba shops in the city. What also makes Plentea shine is their solid customer service and the fact that many, but not all of their tea drinks are sold in glass tea jars that resemble old milk bottles. It's a lovely presentation that no doubt is intended to imply that taking a picture with your new boba is the way to order a drink and promptly take a picture with it, of which I did both. The menu at Plentea is broken up into categories including their Classic Milk Tea, Special Milk Tea, Sea Salt Creama, Fresh Fruit Tea & Sweet Cheese Creama, Matcha, Smoothies, Premium Mountain Tea & Coffee, Artisan Teas, along with Toppings and Choice of Milk. They also have convenient touchscreen ordering kiosks in which customers can easily order anything that they want with the simple touch of a screen, of course that also leads to more questions that sometimes cannot be answered especially when their associates are busy with their boba tea making. Since I haven't been to Plentea in quite some time, I decided to go the more basic route by ordering a Seat Salt Creama Oolong Tea from their Sea Salt Cheese Creama section of their menu, which cost a total of $6.25. For this drink there are no milk or sugar adjustments that are available, and one of the reasons I ordered this drink was that it is served in a milk bottle at no extra charge. I also decided to order a boba topping and conceivably you can order a milk tea drink at Plentea with no boba or toppings, but seriously what is the point in that? So I opted for their Honey Tapioca Boba, which cost 50 extra cents, and for good measure since I knew my drink was being served in a glass milk bottle, I ordered less ice in my drink. My total was $6.25 before tip and with an easy payment on their touchscreen panel, I was all set to wait for my drink as you have to enter in your phone number and they text you the status of your drink and when it is ready for pick up. Once my drink was ready it was like seeing a sparkling new toy on Christmas morning, as that milk bottle was shimmering from all of the boba, tea and cream mixed together, and since it was in a sealed bottle, it was calling to be shaken up. But I waited until I got outside and took a picture of it outside in front of their sign, as it was too bad that that this location of Plentea didn't seem to have a boba wall ready for picture taking that so many other boba shops seem to have right now, as competition is high and you have to get the word out, especially with social media. But drinking my refreshing shaken boba in its milk jar was a simple delight especially since the day I went was a warm San Francisco day while walking to my destination downtown. Obviously many more visits to this Plentea location and the one they have in Berkeley will be coming for me, as their bobas are refreshing without being overly sweet and filled with too many overwhelming flavors. I can't wait to come back and try some of the food items they sell from Spam Musubi to Takoyaki Balls on a Stick to Cheesecake Tiramisu Chocolate Mousse. There seems to be no limit at Plentea and under the watchful guidance of owner Henry Tang, who is a self-proclaimed dedicated Boba and Bubble tea drink lover, they acknowledge that their product can always improve, but I can't see how much more their drinks can improve at Plentea. read more

While walking around SF, I was feeling thirsty and found Plentea nearby. I got myself a Sea Salt Crema Oolong Tea ($5.25) in a glass jar. For some reason, the glass was cheaper than plastic. I guess that's SF being eco-friendly? Anyways, I liked that I can reuse the glass bottle though. But do note that I had to hold the bottle cap as I was walking around and drinking since you can't just poke a straw inside. The drink itself is good. Nice balance of salty and sweet. I don't know why but I'm really a fan of the Plentea here. I haven't been to their other locations but everytime I'm in the area, I go here for boba. I love their glass bottles, which comes with a drink for free, and if you bring one back, you get 10% off. The first time I came, they were having a really good boba day, so the texture was excellent. I do really like their Sea Salt Crema Oolong. I've gotten it multiple times, and the cream just blends into the tea. Its creamy but watery and not necessarily bland but tea like but it just works. My favorite boba spot in SF! I ordered ahead via Door Dash just in case of a wait which there usually is whenever I come through. My favorite is the Sea Salt Crema Oolong with Egg Pudding. Make sure to shake the drink before to incorporate the crema. The drink is so creamy and velvety! I always opt for the glass bottle for an extra cost. I thought since we arrived late at night the tea would be watered down but it still had a strong oolong flavor! The boba was a tad bit hard but it was still somewhat chewy. When ordering you get to choose between the regular cup or the glass. We opted for the glass since it was pretty sure BUT fair warning the straw does stick out so if you wanna close the lid you're going to need to bend to straw a bit.
