Nice staff, great TGTG pick!
Jennifer O.

A blended review because my son *LOVES* this bubble tea spot and had already gone there once with a friend. I thought the Oolong would have a more complex taste but it was overly sweet. My son drank the other 3 teas (sweet milk, jasmine and passion fruit). The "Too Good To Go" surprise bag was 2 bonus tea drinks, very nice. I'd try Gong Cha again to add grass jelly and see if I could order my drink less sweet. I like their boba. Prices are right, staff is nice.

Not sure why this one has so many meh reviews. I love Gong Cha, and this location is no exception! You order at a kiosk and service is very nice and efficient. They have some pretty good deals sometimes too! Interior is light and airy. I also like the outdoor tables. I must confess--after coming back to the city on BART, I needed a bathroom while trekking home. I came in to Gong Cha and was very pleased to see that they had a bathroom for customers. I ordered and got the key, and it was very clean. I do love how they do their bubbles and their variety of drinks! I always get no ice and maybe 50% sweet.

Finally got my hands on Snowman bottles

Had to come here ASAP which was Friday AM the 29th of November. I missed out last year on the GingerBread cookie shaped bottles. So this year, its the Snowman . Came in the morning & I ordered through the Kiosk. I ordered 3 different flavors which consists of Ube, Matcha & Biscoff- all milk tea. It comes w/boba but can add additional toppings w/charge. The person making the drinks politely asked me i wanted the 3 different designs. I happily said YES (& YAY). It was for togo cause I was heading to work. So w/in less than an hour I tried my drink- Ube milk tea w/ Boba & rainbow jelly. I love how the Boba was AL DENTE, firm / bitterness. The other flavors were just as good, enjoyed by others.

The Matcha Marble . I wonder if the restroom has Matcha colored Marble ?

They say there is a possible Matcha shortage. The tariffs and other factors have caused some panic. I always see places around San Francisco offering different iterations of Matcha. One drink which matcha is good in is Boba. The Union Square area has a few Boba places available but does have one of the originators of offering Boba first in San Francisco which is the Boba Guys spot around Union Square. This leads me to seeking for Boba with Matcha which I ended up on O Farrell and Mason street in San Francisco. Gong Cha is a Taiwanese founded franchise with over 1800 locations in over 20 countries. The only San Francisco location and has limited seating and they be spilling the tea inside. There are kiosks inside where you place your order for a variety of different flavored drinks. They have the flavors from Dragon Fruit Mango, Creme Brulee Strawberry, and Taro milk tea. They also offer desserts like the Mochi waffle which comes in crème brûlée, mango ,and a cheddar cheese flavor. I had the Matcha marble and it was so refreshing. It had a smooth matcha flavor and it wasn't too sweet. Gong Cha is a good place to grab a smoothie or a tea. Go to Gong Cha and enjoy a Waffle "crème brûlée " and a milk tea with "Earl Grey" and have the sugar level and ice level adjusted your "way " It's Boba spot sort of a "cafe" you can use the kiosk to digitally "pay" when it comes to selection of tea they have a large "array"

I stopped by on a Monday, a bit after lunchtime to try a few of Felix's Pick! drinks for the new Stray Kids Felix cup sleeves. The wait for 2 medium boba drinks was longer than I expected because someone before me ordered like 20 drinks. There was only 1 person making the drinks as well. I'm not the biggest fan of bubble tea and super sugary drinks, so I modified the drinks with reduced sugar and no ice. Felix's Pick! - Brown Sugar Milk Tea w/ Pearls is a classic and basic milk tea drink. Felix's Pick! - Milk Foam Oolong Tea w/ Coconut Jelly tastes like a tropical pineapple type of drink. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Brown Sugar Milk Tea. Overall, this Gong Cha location is more of a grab and go spot since there are very few seats available. It doesn't really lend itself to be a chat and catch up type of boba establishment. As a fan of Stray Kids, I was mainly disappointed that the Felix cardboard cut out was barricaded by the stairwell.

Came here to fulfilled my thirst. It's close enough to my hotel so why not. Aroma here is magnificent. Sugary aromas make my mouth just water. Fast and friendly service.

Small little tea shop! I liked how they had samples for one of their summer flavors. You can customize your sweetness but it was difficult to know how sweet each category was personally. I got the strawberry green tea with 25% sweet and it was too sweet for me but refreshing.

Got my late evening tea fix here and it's nothing too exciting. Was able to order at the kiosk and grab my drink in just a couple minutes. Everything seemed premade it was so quick. Wasn't really acknowledged or anything so no comments on service. There were a handful of tables but otherwise seems more like a grab and go kind of spot.

One of my college roommates worked at 貢茶 Gong Cha and she'd sometimes bring back drinks when she worked closing shift. After seeing this location, the memories came flooding back so I decided to stop by. Limited human interaction since you order on the kiosk and wait for your # to be called. I was debating between a couple drinks, but I ended up choosing the Earl Grey Milk Tea w/3J ($6.75 + tax) with No Sweet and No Ice. The 3Js are Herbal Jelly, Pudding, and Pearls. +Boba was perfectly chewy +Grass jelly was smooth and silky w/prominent herbal flavor. +Pudding was smooth and silky w/caramel notes. +Cup & straw were durable. -Tasted watered down: Weak tea w/o creaminess from milk Side notes: 1.) 1 point for every $1 spent: Sign up w/phone # 2.) Limited seating: A couple chairs inside and 1 two-top outside 3.) Restroom available for customers *Verdict: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. It was a one woman show, and she was hustling to make everyone's orders. Even though there was a backlog, I received my drink in ~10 minutes. If I was in the area, I'd return to try their matcha and crystal boba since I remember that being good.

I order a drink here and the takes so long all 3 girls just taking to each other and using the cell phone that's not clean or safe at all totally disgusting I ask if my drink is ready and one of the girls give me a dirty look and. Attitude saying is not ready yet , definitely not coming back

Ordered some boba teas for pick up in the evening through Uber Eats. Process was quick, easy and seamless. Customer service was friendly upon arrival, and all my instructions were followed precisely, which I really appreciated. Boba was so good too! Fresh, soft and chewy with a slight hint of sweetness. There are a few seats inside, but it's mostly a grab and go spot. Easily accessible by BART or Muni.

Strawberry milk tea, and original milk tea with boba

Their seasonal strawberry milk tea it's fantastic! I love the combination together sweet with little bit of tartness blend with milk tea; very super it goes well together. The original milk tea it's rich in tea and milk combine and I love a rich tea The servers are very nice, and took my order quickly. Although there's a a group of 7 people were ahead of me but not too long of a wait time. When you are in Union Square and wanting Boba this is the place to go!

Mango Green Tea w/ boba
Alex C.

Stopped by this Gong Cha location after having lunch across the street with my wife and her friend. Ordering can be done at the counter or at the self-service kiosk, and there is no seating available for dine-in. Opted for a Mango Green Tea w/ boba. The drink itself tasted rather artificial, and the boba balls were firm and clumped together. Overall a forgettable drink quality, and not one consistent with other Gong Cha locations I've been to.

I am so in love with the tea here, it tastes exactly the way I like it. I love how they use the teapresso machine to brew the tea leaves which makes the flavor stronger. The cafe's decor looks clean and it has a good vibes, and when I went, it was not too busy. You can also order through their application and earn points or at the Kiosks and put your phone number to earn points as well.

Chicha San Chen is the super hyped bubble tea shop from Taiwan that's apparently won a bunch of tea…read morerelated accolades that I won't pretend to be remotely familiar with. Their ordering system is entirely via two kiosks, which can be annoying if the customers ahead are slow, ordering a bunch of drinks, or both. They really should have a policy for cashiers handling smaller orders (2-3 drinks or less) and forcing kiosks only for larger groups. The estimated wait times vary pretty wildly, so take their posted estimates with a grain of salt. It stated 15-20 minutes when I was there, but it took about 25 (and we were just the 2nd group in line, though there were clearly tons of queued orders already with people standing around or sitting waiting). When we finally got our drinks, the Classic Ding Dong Oolong Milk Tea and the Milk Tea with Taro Balls and Taro Paste, I was expecting really prominent tea flavor like you get from the best milk teas in Taiwan and HK, especially given their hand-brewing process for each cup (which partly explains why wait times balloon). Sadly, I got very little tea flavor from either drink. That said, the fresh taro paste and taro balls were very tasty, with the balls having fantastic QQ chewiness. Prices are a bit much though, at almost $10 for that drink alone. I honestly think they could cut costs on gimmicks like the rope carriers (cute for influencers, but pretty useless and likely jacks up the price for regular customers). One silver lining from the long wait is that we spilled over into a free tea tasting slot. Miranda was fantastic as our guide as she was super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. She walked us through how their Lishan Oolong Tea (sold separately, not used for in-store drinks) is harvested and sun-baked into 5 different varietals, each with unique colors, aromas, and tastes (and following the sun both literally and figuratively in terms of names and descriptors). Overall, it's a fun experience if you enjoy that sort of thing (and your wait happens aligns with a tasting slot or you can always a reserve ahead of time as well), so 5 stars for Miranda and the tasting, but the actual milk teas were lacking and a disappointment given the hype, cost and wait.

I fell in love with their creative, artisanal drinks right away. The store itself was clean and welcoming. My favorites are the Crème Brûlée Milk Tea and Matcha Toffee. I recommend getting their drinks in either oat or macadamia milk! Their honey boba was fresh with the perfect texture. I don't recommend driving here unless you're okay with parking a few blocks away. I prefer this location over San Jose because their drinks are more consistent. The line was long, waited about 10 minutes for the ordering system, because it's by machine now. Then waited another 15 minutes for the drinks. There were a bunch of teeny boppers in front of me ordering drinks (6-8ish), so it took a bit. I ordered a house milk tea with 25% sugar. Honestly it just tasted like ash. No creamy tasting like other boba places. Not sure what their house cream was but it wasn't creamy or rich in flavor. Big disappointment. My husband got the crème brulee milk tea and that tasted even worst. It just tasted like bitter burnt pudding. Some sweetness once you get pass the pudding. Not sure who made the drinks but it was not good. The boba however was nice and soft. Not sure if it's the day or the rush of hella orders, but I normally judge a boba place by their basic milk tea and that day it was not good. And maybe that's not what to order? Not sure. But willing to try again on another time.

Service: They have both a kiosk and a barista taking orders. Staff were friendly and working efficiently and quickly to fill the orders as they were being placed. Wait time: Generally depends on when you go since Japantown mall is a heavily toured area by locals and visitors to the Bay Area but I'd say roughly 10-15 minutes max from standing in line to receiving your drink. Food: The matcha ice cream has a deep matcha flavor with a nice concentration of powder which can be tasted in the soft serve. It's not as creamy as, say, a Frappuccino, and the ice crystals are a little larger, but honestly that works in its favor because the roasted hojicha flavor comes through so much more clearly. Deep, toasty, and not overly sweet. Their sundaes are also ridiculously fun, loaded with all kinds of bouncy, chewy little goodies that make your dessert an activity rather than just a course.
