Delightful treat - tons of options make it a bit hard to choose so I typically just stick to what I know I like. My go to is the Mango Milk tea: light ice, 0% sweet (but it is still plenty sweet), with boba.... yumm. I love that you can pick the sweetness level (100% sweet is a crazy amount of sweet!), add ins, ice - and you can order ahead online! Let me preface and say that I was super excited about sharetea opening up within a 15 minute walk from my apartment. And as a happy normal fan, I came over for their soft opening, where all drinks were $2! But it looks like they have some kinks to work out with their service. There isn't a very clear ordering line and waiting line. And part of that problem is because there are a million people waiting for their drinks because their drink making skills and speed are still in process. I've been waiting for 30 minutes so far for my drink and I think there are still about 6 orders ahead of me. Holy crap, this was expensive. Maybe this is comparable to some other SF boba places, but I've had Sharetea in Berkeley and San Diego and it's just as good at like 2/3 the price. I got a Mango Green Tea Crema with boba for $6 (!!) and while it wasn't bad, it's pretty much the 4-star quality I expect from Sharetea. But the price! I'm not sure they had a single drink under 4 dollars! Be still, my heart. I have found boba heaven, and it is wonderful. Choose from a wide variety of milk teas (including fresh taro!), fruit teas (passion fruit orange grapefruit...all fresh, with bits of passion fruit waiting to be crunched...sigh), and just about every combination you could want. The boba is the perfect texture--not too soft, not too chewy, and just vaguely sweet. At 100% sweetness, their drinks are too sweet for me, but the sweetness level is completely customizable, which is perfect. read more

I got fresh milk with matcha and first off no ice costed an extra 25¢??? The drink itself was okay, however, it was also very powdery, almost like it wasn't mixed. It had sort of an artificial milk taste. In addition, the boba was inconsistent; some pearls were hard and undercooked, overly sweet, but some were chewy. I still love Sharetea, but this location needs a lot of work. It's convenient though, inside the Metreon mall across from the movie tickets queue. The first time I came was during the grand opening, so the wait of 45 minutes was expected. What I didn't understand was how slowly they were calling out order numbers. I'm not sure why the drinks take so long to be made. The second time I came I waited about 30 minutes. Still a long line and slow drink-making. This time what was annoying is the lack of a clear queue. A group of us stood behind another group that turned out to be waiting for drinks, not for placing orders. Some improvement in this would be really helpful. Drinks were made well. A little too sweet even at 80%, so I'll have to ask for 50% next time. So, when in Rome....I ventured to this place as boba tea is all the rage. As I looked like a hopeless neophyte trying to choose a drink I approached the counter and asked what's good. According to them, everything. So I decide on a drink called matcha with red bean. Then I get asked a few more questions on how sweet I want it, ice, milk or not etc...NASA has a smaller check list. (Or tie with Tea Era in MTV) So 5-star is well deserved. However, it takes forever to get your tea at this Metreon location. (Much slower than the Geary location) so be ready to stand there for 10+ minutes for your tea After you order. Also, the price is higher than Sbux while it doesn't come with a comfy environment to sit around, so I find it hard to justify. Thus the 2-star. read more

I'm most likely not going back to this location again. I enjoyed Sharetea in San Mateo for the few, reserved times that I wanted to buy a cup of tea. This recent visit today just left a sour taste in my mouth. I rarely write reviews, but I had to jot this one down for future reference. My sister and I were walking around the area during our lunch break to get out of the office and ended up around this area. I brought up grabbing a quick cup of milk tea, but we were already in the opposite direction from the cafe we went to a few times before. I remembered that there was a Sharetea in the Metreon and thought it would be a great place to go instead of walking across the city. It was my sister's first time going to Sharetea and she was thinking of a fruit tea to get focusing mainly on that section of the menu. She came up to order a mango fruit tea, and the first young lady on the register stared at her blankly and then asked with a snappy, snarky tone "which one?" The lady taking our order proceeded to go through the different options that my sister could have with her drink in such a belittling tone of voice. You know, we get it. There are variations of the mango drinks (juice, tea, crema, etc.) you serve and options for toppings, but that doesn't mean you can speak to customers with that kind of attitude. After taking the order, she went to the towards the back of their stand to make the drink, while another young lady working there moved up to finish taking the order. I order the mango juice with Yakult. No attitude whatsoever when she asked if I needed anything else with that order. I really do like the drinks that they serve at Sharetea, but the customer service today from that one employee was just unacceptable. And in the off-chance that I visit this place again, I will remember the taller lady with reddish-brown shoulder-length hair that inspired this little piece. read more

Definitely one of my top places for boba in downtown. The pearls are high quality. Okinawa Milk tea is my favorite to get with less ice and 80 percent sweet! Mixed reviews for Sharetea depending on the time of day I've frequented. Consistency is a miss here. End of day experiences seem to be better as tea has brewed longer and perhaps seeing that it's close to closing, more generous handfuls of toppings are given. Variety of great hot and cold flavor choices and toppings and drinks are customizable (sugar, ice levels). Yay! Finally a milk tea place in downtown! I've been waiting for one forever, wondering why no one wants to set up a boba spot in the downtown area. Today was the soft opening and I happened to be in the area - long line of Asians, long list of drinks, about a 10-15 minute wait for my drink, but all drinks were $2 so I am not complaining. Average normal price is ~$3.50, plus 50 cents for "toppings". I don't even blame the employees for the slow service today because it also seemed like people in line didn't know what to order and were taking forever to decide! Some were complaining about their drinks too because their drink wasn't what they expected (slush/blended vs regular ice). I just got the basic, classic pearl milk tea and it hit the spot. The boba is fresh and soft too. You can also tell them how sweet you want your drink, and how much ice you want. I will come back again soon whenever that milk tea craving hits. read more

This place is pretty fantastic - at least from the perspective of an east coast native, which is not saying much I suppose. The best thing about Sharetea is the number of great flavor options. Recently opened in the Metreon and replaced that froyo place, which is very exciting because bubble tea wins over froyo any day. The menu is not as extensive as some other bubble tea places but there are a lot of options regardless. I like that it's not all fruit flavors as choices, since I like things like red bean and taro. They have milk tea, flavored tea without milk, and this crema thing which looks like a thai iced tea (three quarters tea, one quarter cream on top). I went with the matcha red bean option, which tastes like a liquid Japanese dessert -- yum! Definitely get that. read more

I've had their milk tea, fruit drinks, and fresh milk, and everything is delicious. They don't run out of boba even when they're close to closing! Their kiwi tea is soo good omg! Their boba is the right consistency too. Their location is in a busy spot since it's inside the Metreon, so there's limited seating. But if the weather's nice you can always sit outside in the garden. They have the five-star rewards program too, it was down when we went so the cashier took down my phone number. We ordered the pineapple tea and pea tea latte in the jars, not really sure what was in my drink tbh but it was so pretty! They use real pineapples and both drinks are pretty sweet, I love the lightbulb jars - they're so cute! $6 is a bit too pricy since they're just plastic, but do it for the gram right? don't get me wrong, i love sharetea boba. the issue i continuously have is when i order delivery via doordash. the menu on DD will show "pearl milk tea". sharetea has been kind of inconsistent; when we do not choose additional toppings, we will either get none at all, or we get pearls anyway. so, we never know if we should select pearls or not. this particular time, they decided to include pearls as default, so when we selected pearls as toppings, we were charged extra and got double the pearls we wanted. we could have just not paid the extra if it was already going to come with pearls. i think this is an issue at most, if not all, sharetea locations; they need to make it crystal clear whether or not pearls are included or not, both in the store menus and online/DD menus. with the prices as high as they are ($6+ on DD), spending unnecessary money on toppings that either do or don't come with the drink is pretty frustrating. i just want to know if the drinks do or don't come with toppings by default - and if this will be consistently carried out by those preparing the drinks. furthermore, there were several times when items were missing from my order completely. being that we work night shift, we can't even get the order re-delivered or call the location. not being able to speak to an employee is inconvenient since they deliver via DD, and don't deliver it themselves. thus, 3/5 due to the inconsistency. read more

Twice in two days! I'm addicted ! I love their homemade taro milk! It has real taro chunks and whole milk ( which didn't irritate my stomach). It's a bit more pricey, but they give you a huge cup! Matcha with fresh milk was delicious too! My friend got the taro milk tea and she likes hers! Overall, if you're a big fan of taro, come here!!! FINALLY- a milk tea place in the SoMa area. Located in the Metreon next to the food court and across from the main ticket counter for the movie theater. We ordered a red bean milk tea and another milk tea with herbal jelly. Lots of options in terms of ice and sweetness. The red bean either already had sugar or they forgot we wanted that at 30% sweetness - it was pretty sweet and if that is 30%, I would be weary of 100% with red bean. The milk tea tasted like milk tea I know from Taiwan. I hate the places that just have some weak tea, add milk, and then pump in random flavorings. The QQ Happy Family looks so tempting but way too much sugary goodness for me. The prices are reasonable ($4-5) for the area but if you want to customize and put different goodies in your drink, it can be quite expensive. The service was great as they were very accommodating and got out the drinks in a timely fashion (2-3 minute wait). read more

Sharetea is by far the best bubble tea I've ever had and it's a curse/blessing that they've opened in a such a convenient location. You can highly customize your bubble tea by choosing your flavor, toppings (tapioca balls, grass jelly, ice jelly, mini boba, etc.), sweetness level (how much sugar they add and ranges from 0-100%). I usually get the Okinawa Pearl Milk tea and am a huge fan; it's black milk tea with roasted brown sugar as sweetener. I've also had the wintermelon tea with ice jelly at 0-30% sweetness level because the ice jelly adds some level of flavor/ sugar. The homemade taro boba has real chunks of taro in it making it really authentic and an interesting flavor. Hokkaido milk tea is another one of my go-to flavors, it has more of a hazelnut/coffee taste. read more

Since I heard another share Tea opened in downtown San Francisco, I had been wanting to go and have milk tea while I shop there. I finally got my wish today, the Father Day. We ordered classic milk teas with boba with 80% honey. I was so disappointed. The tea has no taste of TEA and no flavor of HONEY. I think the owner at this location is cutting cost by diluting honey and tea. Extreme disappointment.... We will never stop-by this place any more. read more

tldr; Plain teas okay. Milk teas less so. Boba not great. Creamas pretty damn tasty. I recommend a green tea creama, no toppings needed. Downtown doesn't have many boba/ tea places, so this was a nice addition. The location in Metreon is a bit awkward and lines can sometimes be ridiculously long and service can be really slow (read: before closing). Other times, however, there are no lines and really fast service. It's variable. The prices are definitely towards the upper end of the milk tea spectrum. Teas/ Drinks: Their plain teas are of decent quality, but their milk teas are diluted and lack flavor (wish there was a way to ask for a stronger tea concentration..maybe there is?). Also, the milk drinks/ blended drinks are considerably more expensive than the plain teas. If you're a milk tea person, I'd say consider trying a plain tea or a creama. The creamas here are very delicious. The cream differs from other places like Gong Cha or Purple Kow because it's not just purely a whipped cream. It has a sort of cheesy/ salty taste that pairs extraordinarily well with their green or black tea (sounds weird, but really, try it!) However, I think the fruit tea creamas or the matcha tea creama don't work because they're either too sweet or milky, respectively. Boba: The boba is consistently underwhelming. I've actually stopped getting boba in my tea because it really isn't worth the overchewiness for the extra $0.50. Preferences for boba consistency differ, but I prefer al dente where the outside is chewy but the center is firm. I will say that the boba reaches a better consistency after about 20 minutes (because of ice/coolness the drink). BUT, by this time, the tea/ boba is almost already gone. Overall: Given that only other place to get boba in SOMA is Ajisen in the mall (lol..not great), Sharetea is okay. They do well in their creamas and plain teas, but have diluted milk teas. Their boba is also not great. Are there better places in the city?, yes. Is it good enough to not travel to far away better tasting boba places, also yes. It's not amazing, but it definitely can fulfill your boba withdrawals. read more
