S1. Fresh Passionfruit Mango Green Tea, D1. Boba Milk Tea

My favorite sweet treat on the block. My go to is their Mango Passionfruit Green Tea with Lychee Jelly, I recommend half and half as it can be sweet will normal sugar. Original waffle is always a go to as well! But be prepared to spend at minimum 10-15 mins for your treats as they get busy.

What happened? I use to love getting my bubble waffles from here. Maybe it was the flavor I got. I usually get the original or matcha flavor. On my recent trip I ordered the tiramisu with red bean. It tasted more chocolate and even that it was light. No coffee flavor at all. The red bean filling was not much and more importantly the waffle was not crispy as I remembered. On this particular day it also took a very long time to make.

Where have they been all my life??? We tend to frequent the other boba establishments near by but have never tried Happy Lemon. They will not disappointment with the drinks or the snacks. Ever so glad we decided to check them out and definitely will be back in the future.

ordered a strawberry oolong milk tea with half sugar and half ice. The flavor was nice, but there was way too much ice, I only had a couple of sips before the drink was gone.

I've been to Happy Lemon locations around the Bay Area, and this is one of my favorite boba chains because they're consistent. They also have a wide variety, whether it's caffeinated or uncaffeinated and hot or cold. Their boba cake and bubble waffles are delicious too. As the pioneer of the salted cheese milk tea, I usually order a drink with that. During this visit, I picked one of my favorites, the Matcha Milk Tea w/Tiramisu Salted Cheese at 25% sweetness ($6.75). Since it was a chilly Monday, I ordered the hot version and added boba for an extra $0.75. +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Strong matcha flavor +Tiramisu Salted Cheese was creamy and not too salty +Boba was perfectly chewy and tasted caramelized +Cup & straw were durable *Verdict: Solid to-go spot for milk tea and bubble waffles!

Very delicious bubble waffle!! It was warm, crispy on the outside, & chewy on the inside which I loved. The packaging is also so cute & functional.

This was the perfect post-game refresher! The Oreo waffle was perfectly chewy and warm. I love that they offer seasonal drinks too. This location was busy but still managed to have it ready pretty quick! Plus it's spacious inside so there's room to take a break from the chilly breeze if needed.

I had a nice little stroll here to try Happy Lemon for the first time. I neighborhood is quiet and close the hospitals and Spark Social. I came after the lunch rush so there was only maybe 2 other customers in there. I ordered their #1 best seller which is the Black Tea w/Salted Cheese (ordered w/less ice, 30% sweet, and boba) - they only had one size. They sprinkled some matcha on top which was a nice touch. I don't like matcha tooo much but it brought nice taste to the first couple sips. The crema was suppppeer good. Someone here commented it's the best Crema they've had and I might have to agree with that. Not too sweet and nice a rich! The boba also was good well. Nice bounce and chew! Overall loved best 6 gulps I've had! Hehe!

I enjoyed a drink from this place with my Yelp peeps (see the review from Joyce W., Phx). This sweet treat came in super handy after an uber-long day of Yelp this and Yelp that! We were provided a variety of BOBA choices during our work break (thanks Yelp). However, just like Joyce W., I elected to go for the Mango Matcha. When it comes to boba drinks, I always order something refreshing and light. I love milk tea, but it can be pretty heavy and stuffed. Fruit tea is my go-to most of the time. This drink is perfect! Just mango puree and matcha. This mango matcha latte was somehow refreshing and creamy at the same time, thanks to the sweet tart mango, slightly bitter matcha, and a generous pour of milk. Now, I've actually got to get to the location on Parmer that I had no idea existed before I had a treat from this Frisco location ( I know, I know, I should be a better Yelper than that).

Mango Matcha: The model shot. My fingernail not included. XD

My 100th review for 2022 goes out to: BOBA! What else would you expect from me? Did you know that Happy Lemon is the first in the world to invent the Rock Salt Cheese Tea? They are the originator of the cheese foam since 2006! Our company treated us to some much-needed sugary drinks as a surprise during a long day of panels. Having always wanted to try Happy Lemon, I was ecstatic. Now I don't have to go to the one in Las Vegas. Jenna T., the Yelp OCA of East Bay (go add her), suggested the Mango Matcha so that's exactly the one I grabbed. It was great! The flavors worked well together. I am now a fan of Happy Lemon and wait for the day they come out to Phoenix.

Happy lemon never disappoints! I usually get the milk tea with boba and salted cheese and it always hits. Their salted cheese is one of the best I've had. Tried the mango matcha drink this time and it was super refreshing and delicious!

Original bubble waffle with salted cheese dip
    Binh P.

Delicious for bubble waffles and fruit drinks. My go-tos are always the original bubble waffle with salted cheese dip, a mango or grapefruit lemon slushy, or passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly. Those are always delicious whenever I order. I love that the bubble waffle is a bit more chewy rather than spongey. And the smell of it being made is just heavenly. I wasn't a fan of their milk based drinks just because it tastes a bit watery. Although they are usually consistent, they often forget add-ons in your drinks if you order online. I wish this place would start selling popcorn chicken like the location near the Embarcadero, but they seem busy enough.

Ask the Community - Happy Lemon

Anything Gluten-Free on the menu? (no wheat-based)

I have tried to reach them twice via Facebook with the same question. I think it's safe to say it's not safe for those that need gluten free. Wish they were now responsive

Is the cheese foam pasteurized cheese?

I believe the cheese they use is cream cheese.

Is anything on the menu caffeine free?

Yes, most of the lemon slushies, the mango yakult smoothie, strawberry milkshake, taro milkshake, and Okinawa fresh milk with boba are caffeine free

    Do they use nondairy creamer?

Yes, for some of the. milk teas. However, you can ask to add whole milk, almond milk, or soy milk to a brewed tea. I.e. Green Tea add soy milk or Black tea add almond milk.

Do they have a rewards program? If so, how does it work? :D

Yes, they have a rewards program. I believe it’s the same as all happy lemon. You buy 10 get one free.

I don't normally drink a lot of boba, but vacations are for treating yourself, right? The crème brûlée milk tea was basically dessert in a cup. You could actually taste and chew on little bits of torched caramelized sugar throughout the drink. The boba itself was perfectly cooked, soft and chewy. And then there was pudding in there too! Every sip had me going "ooh" and "ahh" as I discovered another delicious texture. The only downside was that the drink only comes in one size, and it was a bit too much for me. I was genuinely sad that I couldn't finish it. That's one of the reasons I don't order boba very often. I can eat way more food than I can drink liquid for some reason. The drink was also lightly carbonated with just the right amount of fizz. The menu wasn't as extensive as those of the larger, more established boba shops, and I wish there had been more fruit-flavored teas - especially for the summer. Nevertheless, I can't wait to try other tea varieties on my next visit.
