Always a good time at Shanahan's. From the moment you enter, you know you're in for a decadent experience. You can count on the food to be the same, high quality as it always is. Starting with the jumbo gulf shrimp, I knew I was once again in for a treat. The shrimp was absolute perfection and the cocktail sauce, though a little bit heavy on the horseradish, was divine. The bread and butter for the table is always a good staple-but of course- try not to fill up on bread before the main course! I always go with the steak here, though there are other options of course. The filet was cooked to my preference of medium perfectly making the steak perfectly tender and juicy. The side options included creamed spinach and roasted garlic mashed potatoes which were also perfection and were even better the next day. A to-go box was definitely in order. The blueberry cheesecake to finish the meal was a great way to wrap it all up. Service is always great as expected. Food is 10/10! Everything is so amazing and cooked to perfection and so full of flavor. The restaurant is large and tables are a little close together but it doesn't ruin the experience. You can't hear the convo of your neighbor which is good. I believe our serve was new because she was a little on the slow slide, didn't know how to use the crumb sweeper, messed up our check, however she was so nice! This place is romantic and a great place to celebrate special occasions. We were celebrating our anniversary and the server/ hostess didn't even ask if there was a special reason we were dining with them, which they have in the past. Returned to Shanahan's for a dinner presentation in one of the smaller conference rooms. Service was excellent and timed well. Along with bread service, we were given a half portion of their Jumbo Gulf Shrimp Cocktail and a choice of salad. I selected Shanahan's salad, a tasty blend of three lettuces, English cucumbers, tomatoes, honey-smoked bacon, cranberries, strawberries, croutons, and champagne vinaigrette. Our entrée was a 4oz filet mignon with roasted garlic mashed potatoes & creamed spinach. I like my steak medium rare with a warm red center. My steak was a bit undercooked for my taste, more blue rare/rare. To finish off our meal, dessert was a slice of Colorado Clover Honey Cheesecake. This is a great place for a date night. We were in Denver for our 15th anniversary. My sister-in-law had recommended Oliver's, but my brother-in-law countered that we should switch to Shanahan's instead. I'm glad I took his advice! We had an early reservation as this was a last minute booking, and I didn't want to sit outside or at the bar. Being Sunday, we opted for the special prix fixe meal. I started with the wedge salad (chopped, per the recommendation of our server), the NY strip, and the chocolate mousse. My husband ordered the Caesar salad, the prime rib, and the cheesecake. We had an order of the asparagus and the garlic mashed potatoes for the table. The food was all excellent and abundant. Those salads were huge as appetizers (I took half home for an excellent lunch the next morning). The wedge salad had a little too much dressing, although I do love the dressing. I loved the heirloom baby tomatoes. My steak was perfection itself, and it was still delicious the next day for lunch. The sides were good. The chocolate mousse was also very tasty. My husband enjoyed all of his food. I tried some prime rib, and it was nicely tender. The wine list is pretty good. We got a 2010 Bourdeax, and it was served with all the required pomp. We came here for my husband's birthday, he loves steak! Probably everyone knows this, but this is something we learned when we were at the restaurant, Mike Shanahan who was the head coach to the Broncos for many years owns this restaurant. In the restaurant you can even see a whole display case in the front with a Lombardi trophy and super bowl rings! We started off with the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. We absolutely loved it the wagyu was so tender, a great start to the meal. I got the crab and prawns and the Tech tequila to drink. I am always a bit iffy about eating seafood in Denver since it is far from the ocean, but the seafood was very fresh! My husband got the Wagyu Rib Eye Satay. He really liked his meal. Since it was my husband's birthday they gave us a complimentary dessert. The restaurant was very clean. It reminded me of a restaurant that would be in Northern Virginia. I really liked the vibes of it, more sophisticated and elevated, everyone was dressed nicely. I think it is a great place for a special occasion, especially for men. An unexpected treat for an unexpected night out. I cannot say enough good things about David, our server, and ALL of the staff. It felt like they went out of their way to make it a fancy night out for us even though we were not dressed or prepared for the occasion--an impromptu big life event/birthday. The lobster and crab cocktail? Delicious. The scallops? Divine, that buerre blanc was masterful. Ribeye was wonderfully well cooked, cheesy and savory potatoes au gratin. I had really high expectations for Shanahan's, and was really let down. Typically, I've had really good experiences at high end, high price tag, fine dining establishments. Shanahan's missed the mark for me, unfortunately. The food was just "ok", honestly. For a $70+ steak, I was expecting much The wedge salad was nothing to rave about. It arrived absolutely drenched in dressing. Very little of anything except lettuce and dressing. It was really disappointing. Very small scoop of mashed potatoes and 3 stalks of asparagus. Pros of the wait service: made sure waters were filled consistently. Otherwise- they seemed disorganized and just generally unhappy. I was completely skipped at my table (everyone else had their order taken) and when I went to gently ask the server if I could have mine taken, he snapped at me saying "we aren't done yet" okay, but every single person at my table had their order taken and then I was skipped while sitting right there... And upon coming back, loudly said "yeah, the chick in the white sweater" to the other server while I was sitting right there and I could obviously hear them talking about me. Super weird situation that I can't say I've ever experienced, especially not at an establishment like this. The female wait staff who was helping run food had a horrible attitude. I went to the restroom and upon returning, glared at my soul because I guess I was "in her way"; I said excuse me and quickly got out of her way (tight fit between seats) and she just looked at me like I did something to her. Just a big yikes all around. As a healthcare professional, who also waited tables to put myself through school, this entire dinner was just not it. We take care of you when you're sick; and this is how we are treated in return. I only mention this due to the fact I was attending an educational dinner with my company, and it's not a secret that we are doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel in attendance. We had such a wonderful time at Shanahan's Steakhouse! I love to explore different places but can't beat the fact that you always know what to expect at Shanahans. Even when it comes to little details, such as valet parking, coat check, kind recommendations and deep knowledge of every single item on the food menu and wine list. We got escargot and crab cakes as appetizers, and they were wonderful! My Caesar salad was so filling and absolutely delicious. Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked and one the best ones I've had in a while. You would expect for all the steaks/meat to be delicious but their seafood is really good as well. Vibe and Ambiance at this restaurant was great! Its a more intimate atmosphere and the restaurant is obviously very fancy! Service was great. Food was disappointing unfortunately. I ordered the Ribeye steak medium and got it super rare. Server said that he knows people expect a pink center but at Shanahans when someone orders medium its usually red. Didnt make sense to me but whatever. My friend ordered the Australian Wagyu New York Strip medium rare and it was overcooked. Now that I think about it, what could have happened was the server mixed up the cooking times between my friends steak and my steak. Either way, i just didnt think the ribeye was worth $79 and that Wagyu Steak was definitely not worth $105. Brussel sprouts and caeser salad were good. From the moment you walk in, the staff comes across as dismissive and overly pretentious, which completely overshadows the food and atmosphere. Dining out should feel enjoyable, not elitist. Unfortunately, the snobbery here makes it hard to justify a visit, especially when there are plenty of other places that offer great food and genuine hospitality. I'd suggest Eddie V's for a better dining experience in the same area and if you want a great steak, Guard and Grace is everything that Shanahan's lacks. read more

The bartender/server dropped off a menu and then never returned to take my order; she was busy chatting with other guests at the bar, so I eventually had to flag down someone else just to order. When it came time to pay, she took my card and left it sitting in a glass for more than 20 minutes before returning it, which meant even more unnecessary waiting. We recently had dinner at this steakhouse as a family of three, and unfortunately, the service fell far below what one should expect from a restaurant at this price point. Throughout the evening, our server, Jaisel came across as dismissive and unnecessarily curt. When my son asked which Old Fashioned she would recommend, she simply stated that one was made with whiskey and another with tequila, without offering any actual recommendation or guidance. When I asked about the duck dish listed among the restaurant's classics and mentioned that it appeared to be a specialty, she bluntly replied, "No, it's a steakhouse." We were obviously aware that we were dining at a steakhouse!! The response felt condescending rather than helpful. Later, when my wife casually asked about the flowers outside the restaurant, the server said she did not know and that we could "Google it." She may not have known the answer, which is perfectly understandable, but the manner in which she responded was again abrupt and discourteous. Any one of these comments might have been easy to overlook, but taken together, they created an unpleasant and unwelcoming dining experience. When customers are paying premium prices for dinner, they should be able to expect courteous, professional, and reasonably attentive service. We were not looking for special treatment, only basic hospitality without the high-handed attitude. We have been to many other upscale steakhouse in town, like Del Frisco, Eddie Merlot etc.and never experienced such rudeness. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because service is an essential part of the experience at a restaurant of this caliber. read more

I started with a glass of red wine and the lobster bisque, which was rich, flavorful, and full of real chunks of lobster (no skimping here!). They decorated our table with rose petals which was a very nice touch for our anniversary. The prime rib deal consists of a soup or salad starter, choice of meat, sides, and a desert. This was a really good deal. The lobster bisque was elevated with a half claw of lobster meat in the bisque. It paired well with the bread. The sides were good. Broccoli is steamed and came with a lemon. The mashed potatoes had a very strong garlic flavor and was very delicious. The steak was phenomenal. The plate that it comes on is VERY hot and kept the steak warm the whole time I was eating. This was a super nice touch. Additionally, the steak was cooked perfectly and super tender and soft. It had the consistency of wagyu without the fattines. Definitely a good cut of meat and its big! The steak really didnt need anything aside from salt and pepper. Our deserts were good, nothing crazy but a good way to end the meal. They also gave us an extra dessert for our anniversary. We got amazing service the whole time we were there. OMG. When you walk in - first of all - it LOOKS like a great steakhouse. We had made reservations, and we were seated immediately at a beautiful table. It was hard not to get full on the bread and butter. My wife had the Caesar salad and I had the house salad and lemme tell you, if I'd had better somewhere else, I don't know where it was. I had ribeye, green beans, and they served me an absolute mountain of Parmesan French fries. Amazing. Steak was properly cooked - and I got bearnaise on the side. Excellent steak. Properly cooked. Perfect!!! It was a struggle to finish my steak. Finally we had key lime and vanilla ice cream. I was pissed off - it was so good. Just visited Shanahan's for our anniversary dinner. Overall, I will give it a very low 4 stars. Our bill for 2 steaks, 2 sides, and 2 beers was $250 which I would say was a bit much for the quality. We had the Prime Delmonico Ribeye, Barrel Cut Filet both with signature steak rub and blue cheese crumbles. The blue cheese was overpowering on both and the ribeye was very, very fatty. For sides, we had the Lobster Mac and the grilled Asparagus. Both were fine but I wouldn't order either one again. The service started out great with the valet and fast seating with our reservation. The bread came out immediately when we were seated and at first our server was attentive. After we ordered, service went down hill....our glasses were empty for some time before we finally stopped another server to help us get ours to stop back by. Over the course of 1 hr and 45 min we had our server stop back by 3 times and had another one help us 2x. The rose petals on the table for our anniversary were a nice touch...and a complementary desert as well. Ambiance is good and having a a display case with Super Bowl trophies and rings was very cool. Wish I could give it 3.5 stars as that is more in line with what it should be based on the cost, service, and OK food. One of the best dang dinners I've had in awhile. Started off with Espresso Martini at the bar and woweee I was tipsy after 1 - the martini was super smooth but intoxicating. Next the wedge salad we split I will say it was overly creamy for me I wish it had a contrast of balsamic drizzle. Dinner was Delmonico cooked medium it had a thick peppercorn crust. I got the cognac peppercorn sauce and it definitely calmed down the peppery crust. For a prime the steak was delish. I ate about 1/3rd and was full with the Au Gratin and Creamer Spinach. Food was super rich so come hungry. We got the chocolate mousse cup as we celebrated a bday and they comped $10 which was nice. My guest got the scallops appetizer I personally didn't love but they were well made and all the food was PIPING HOT (temp wise) which is always a good sign of a great kitchen. Ugh - have to update that this steakhouse has truly gone downhill as several other reviews report. I waited three visits before writing this because I wanted to still love the place. Steaks are not well cut, bombed out with black pepper for some inexplainable reason, and just not very good overall. Where's the chain on the ribeye? Why is it still raw unless you let sit for ten minutes on the sizzling plate? Just serve it on a warm plate at the right rested-temp! To celebrate my husband's 30th, I treated him with a night at Shanahan's. We made a reservation for Saturday evening and were seated shortly after arriving- they seemed very busy that night. They have a great wine program and we were both happy with our selections that night. Bread is brought to the table and we also decided to split the yummy Shanahan's salad- the portion is perfect for two people as a starter. For our meals, my husband ordered the ribeye and I got the filet mignon with the croquette and added shrimp to the side. We also ordered mashed potatoes and carrots for sides to share. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The filet was tender and was perfect with the cabernet sauce. I was also happy I decided to add shrimp as it was a perfect pairing. My husband's ribeye, though, was the easy standout. They pride themselves on their steaks and for good reason. It was so flavorful and tender, we were truly delighted with it. The mashed potatoes were garlicky and buttery in all the right ways and the carrots were both sweet and savory and very good. The meal ended with a complimentary espresso mousse to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was the perfect ending for an incredible meal. Our one complaint was the music. It was a little too loud and the selection was weird- like odd club mixes of throwbacks (I'm talking a remix of Dido's "Thank You"). It's not that I dislike that kind of music (I do enjoy it!) but it just seemed a bit odd? But it certainly wasn't enough to deter us from wanting to return.
