Returned to Shanahan's for a dinner presentation in one of the smaller conference rooms. Service was excellent and timed well. Along with bread service, we were given a half portion of their Jumbo Gulf Shrimp Cocktail and a choice of salad. I selected Shanahan's salad, a tasty blend of three lettuces, English cucumbers, tomatoes, honey-smoked bacon, cranberries, strawberries, croutons, and champagne vinaigrette. Our entrée was a 4oz filet mignon with roasted garlic mashed potatoes & creamed spinach. I like my steak medium rare with a warm red center. My steak was a bit undercooked for my taste, more blue rare/rare. To finish off our meal, dessert was a slice of Colorado Clover Honey Cheesecake. It usually comes with blueberries, but due to my allergies, strawberries were substituted. Excellent meal with plenty of leftovers to bring home for another meal the next day.

This is a great place for a date night. We were in Denver for our 15th anniversary. My sister-in-law had recommended Oliver's, but my brother-in-law countered that we should switch to Shanahan's instead. I'm glad I took his advice! We had an early reservation as this was a last minute booking, and I didn't want to sit outside or at the bar. Being Sunday, we opted for the special prix fixe meal. I started with the wedge salad (chopped, per the recommendation of our server), the NY strip, and the chocolate mousse. My husband ordered the Caesar salad, the prime rib, and the cheesecake. We had an order of the asparagus and the garlic mashed potatoes for the table. The food was all excellent and abundant. Those salads were huge as appetizers (I took half home for an excellent lunch the next morning). The wedge salad had a little too much dressing, although I do love the dressing. I loved the heirloom baby tomatoes. My steak was perfection itself, and it was still delicious the next day for lunch. The sides were good. The chocolate mousse was also very tasty. My husband enjoyed all of his food. I tried some prime rib, and it was nicely tender. The wine list is pretty good. We got a 2010 Bourdeax, and it was served with all the required pomp. It was perfect for our meal. Service was excellent. The setting was very nice. I had asked for a quiet table, and that's what we got. It was a very relaxing and delicious meal.

A really good place to get steaks and drinks. Wonderful service to top it off. Let me start with saying I have visited many high end steakhouses all over the states. Most are comparable but Shanahan's is on the higher side. We ordered a couple of steak Delmonicos that came out perfectly medium rare. One of the better I have eaten in a while. The sides could be a little better. Caesar salad was overdressed. The green beans, mash potatoes, and fried calamari were good. Overall a very good experience. Highly recommend.

Tonight friends and I celebrated my retirement. I've been here before and thought it fitting since I had a great time last year here. Food wise and service wise we were impressed. The food came out as we requested as well and you definitely got plenty on your plate. They have a Sunday three course meal that was also priced right. Ernesto our server was very attentive as well. The only downside is that they stopped giving military discounts since when I last came here.

They even have their name on the steak knives!

We came here for my husband's birthday, he loves steak! Probably everyone knows this, but this is something we learned when we were at the restaurant, Mike Shanahan who was the head coach to the Broncos for many years owns this restaurant. In the restaurant you can even see a whole display case in the front with a Lombardi trophy and super bowl rings! We started off with the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. We absolutely loved it the wagyu was so tender, a great start to the meal. I got the crab and prawns and the Tech tequila to drink. I am always a bit iffy about eating seafood in Denver since it is far from the ocean, but the seafood was very fresh! My husband got the Wagyu Rib Eye Satay. He really liked his meal. Since it was my husband's birthday they gave us a complimentary dessert. The restaurant was very clean. It reminded me of a restaurant that would be in Northern Virginia. I really liked the vibes of it, more sophisticated and elevated, everyone was dressed nicely. I think it is a great place for a special occasion, especially for men. Prices are high, but I thought the experience and food was quite memorable and it make my husband's birthday special to come here! I would definitely come back!

An unexpected treat for an unexpected night out. I cannot say enough good things about David, our server, and ALL of the staff. It felt like they went out of their way to make it a fancy night out for us even though we were not dressed or prepared for the occasion--an impromptu big life event/birthday. The lobster and crab cocktail? Delicious. The scallops? Divine, that buerre blanc was masterful. Ribeye was wonderfully well cooked, cheesy and savory potatoes au gratin. Excellent wine recommendation, and a dessert on the house for my birthday was a thoughtful touch. We will certainly be back for another lovely dinner.

The food was really good. The only thing I didn't like was that the place is so loud! The dining room is like a night club if you are into that type of atmosphere. I like things a little more calm and private if I could have it my way. But the food is amazing! Definitely the best steak I've had in town.

7oz Filet Mignon, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus

I had really high expectations for Shanahan's, and was really let down. Typically, I've had really good experiences at high end, high price tag, fine dining establishments. Shanahan's missed the mark for me, unfortunately. The food was just "ok", honestly. Not the best steak I've had, the fillet was actually quite tough (I ordered medium rare) and really, very salty (and I'm not a "low sodium" person- I love salty stuff.) For a $70+ steak, I was expecting much The wedge salad was nothing to rave about. It arrived absolutely drenched in dressing. Very little of anything except lettuce and dressing. It was really disappointing. Very small scoop of mashed potatoes and 3 stalks of asparagus. Pros of the wait service: made sure waters were filled consistently. Otherwise- they seemed disorganized and just generally unhappy. I was completely skipped at my table (everyone else had their order taken) and when I went to gently ask the server if I could have mine taken, he snapped at me saying "we aren't done yet" okay, but every single person at my table had their order taken and then I was skipped while sitting right there... And upon coming back, loudly said "yeah, the chick in the white sweater" to the other server while I was sitting right there and I could obviously hear them talking about me. Super weird situation that I can't say I've ever experienced, especially not at an establishment like this. The female wait staff who was helping run food had a horrible attitude. I went to the restroom and upon returning, glared at my soul because I guess I was "in her way"; I said excuse me and quickly got out of her way (tight fit between seats) and she just looked at me like I did something to her. Just a big yikes all around. As a healthcare professional, who also waited tables to put myself through school, this entire dinner was just not it. We take care of you when you're sick; and this is how we are treated in return. I only mention this due to the fact I was attending an educational dinner with my company, and it's not a secret that we are doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel in attendance. The poor treatment was disheartening. I've had really good experiences at Ocean Prime, Del Frisco's, STK, Eddie V's. I would prefer any of these establishments in comparison, in terms of food, service, and experience.

Seafood tower for 2

Was in town visiting and came here to celebrate a birthday. Service was top notch from our server. Can't go wrong with escargot to start. Bone in aged ribeye was perfectly cooked and tender! Sides are shareable! The seafood tower I felt was a little lackluster for 69/person. Complimentary valet out front. Make reservations.

Always a wonderful experience at Shanahan's. Timely service, moody ambiance, and obviously amazing food. This was the first time I ordered anything other than a steak and I was not disappointed. I had the Chicken Tuscany, this is such a well-balanced dish, I even had leftovers. They're always able to split checks with big parties no problem and the complimentary valet makes the experience that much more seamless. Lifetime customers right here!

We had such a wonderful time at Shanahan's Steakhouse! I love to explore different places but can't beat the fact that you always know what to expect at Shanahans. Even when it comes to little details, such as valet parking, coat check, kind recommendations and deep knowledge of every single item on the food menu and wine list. We got escargot and crab cakes as appetizers, and they were wonderful! My Caesar salad was so filling and absolutely delicious. Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked and one the best ones I've had in a while. You would expect for all the steaks/meat to be delicious but their seafood is really good as well. I thought the prices were reasonable for what you get. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I definitely recommend it for a special event!

Prime Ribeye - 6/10 - i ordered it medium and it was definitely rare/almost raw in some parts
Eddy H.

Vibe and Ambiance at this restaurant was great! Its a more intimate atmosphere and the restaurant is obviously very fancy! Service was great. Food was disappointing unfortunately. I ordered the Ribeye steak medium and got it super rare. Server said that he knows people expect a pink center but at Shanahans when someone orders medium its usually red. Didnt make sense to me but whatever. My friend ordered the Australian Wagyu New York Strip medium rare and it was overcooked. Now that I think about it, what could have happened was the server mixed up the cooking times between my friends steak and my steak. Either way, i just didnt think the ribeye was worth $79 and that Wagyu Steak was definitely not worth $105. Brussel sprouts and caeser salad were good. Nice place to go on a date to impress someone.

For food, my wife and I shared the Filet Flight, which included samples of their prime, wagyu, and grass-fed 4 oz filets. Such a fun way to experience the different cuts, and every one of them was excellent. We also started with the Yellowtail Hamachi Sashimi, which was incredibly fresh. We also got the Oak-Grilled Broccolini and Duck Fat Fries, both of which were fantastic sides. There were also so many other side items on the menu that sounded amazing, including the Hand Made Gnocchi, Black Truffle Mac & Cheese, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and Whipped Potatoes. Definitely a place you want to come back to and try them all. As a small extra touch for our anniversary, the staff gave us a handwritten card along with a few dessert bites, which was really thoughtful and helped make the night feel even more special. An easy 5 stars and a perfect spot for a celebration or date night.

Decided on A5 because 1) it's got some great appetizers / starters, 2) love the servers there, and 3) was in the mood to chow down on a hunka-chunka serious steak, and for the first time get a tomahawk slab o' beef that I had seen before on the A5 menu. Came in early on a Thursday night (6:15 pm) so the place was losing its happy hour crowd and had not yet been swooped down on by the hip dinner crowd. A great time to go. Could not have been better. Started with their crab and shrimp dip app and Japanese milk bread, both of which are stand-out non-steak items on their menu. Ordered the tomahawk steak which is ridiculously large (over 40 ounces (10 of which is from the large rib bone)) and ridiculously good (and ridiculously expensive . . . as in like over $225), along with an order of asparagus. Loved it all. Of course, we split the steak and had no room for dessert. Brought home probably 10 ounces of meat along with some other leftovers which will give us another night of good at-home eating. Bottom line . . . wonderful experience. Pricey but they made it a true celebration for us and it was well worth it. Go. You'll have a great time there, and if you don't want to blow a bundle and its your first time at A5, check them out at happy hour. It's probably the best deal for the best HH food in Denver.

We started with the burrata based on Yelp reviews and they weren't wrong. Super fresh tasting, and the focaccia paired with it perfectly. The sauce was deep and hearty and the pasta was exactly al dente. We split a strawberry guacamole sorbet and glad we did, it was larger than expected and absolutely delicious. Very cool!! The food was good but not great. For the price, I'd expect something a little better but the beef tenderloin was cooked exactly the way I ordered it (complete with peppercorn crust). It was tender but maybe a bit dryer than I like for a filet. The peppercorn crust was amazing! The Saratoga chips are made in house and they are very good as well. Super crispy with the right amount of salt. We got a history lesson from one of the servers, about 10min worth of backstory about the restaurant and it was almost like dinner and a show. Parking is a bit tight if they're busy but it's downtown Denver so that's typical. Other than the price being a bit high for the quality, this place is a good time and a good meal.

This was by far the worst part of our trip to Denver... be warned. Parking: There is free parking in the back of the building. When we first walked in we were greeted and brought to our reserved tables upstairs. If you decide to try this place, get a reservation and do downstairs. There is so much more to look at downstairs! Instead, we were brought to a backroom that was much cooler(in temp) and had way less to look at... we felt "put into the corner." It was busy, and it appeared they were short staffed. It took a long time for our server to get to us. She was very sweet and I definitely felt for her, she was really trying! However, it took awhile to get our drinks, the complimentary bread came out after our appetizer and house salads... anything complimentary should come out right away. The food: We got the Rocky Mountain oysters and I actually thought they were good! The cocktail sauce is very tomato forward and the "horseradish sauce" was a joke! There was absolutely no flavor and I am convinced it was just sour cream! If you do order these, ask for their ranch- it was dill flavored and delicious! The house salad was good But wet... like I had water on my plate. If you want a Caesar Salad it will cost an extra 7.50!!!!!!!!! Why!? That doesn't make any sense! The complimentary sourdough was good but the whipped butter had no taste at all... we had to sprinkle some salt on it for it to actually taste decent. We got the New York strip 16oz and the Elk steaks. The New York strip was the worst steak we have ever had! It was supposed to be cooked to a medium but was definitely closer to a medium rare. The butter on top did not have any flavor and was pointless. It had a fair amount of fat on it and the crust tasted "ashy" to us. It was expensive so we ate it, but terrible! The mashed potatoes were not mashed well! I had a whole potato in it! The veggies were mushy and overcooked. The elk steaks were actually very good! I would recommend that! The wild rice was brown rice with a few wild rice pieces... and again mushy veggies! The total price for one alcoholic drink, one bottled soda, a half order of Rocky Mountain oysters, the New York strip and elk steaks was over $200 with tip. We went to the restrooms afterwards and they were disgusting and dirty! If we are spending over $200 on a meal it better be great service, food and ambiance! This missed the mark HEAVILY! If you do feel the need to go here, get a table downstairs, make a reservation, get the Rocky Mountain oysters with the dill ranch and the elk steaks.

People either love or hate the 50's decor that Mad Men picked up on decades later. I'm in the former camp and like sitting upstairs most of all. Today, we sat downstairs for the first time. Quiet and cozy with the Rat Pack looking on, the mood was chill, anticipation high. Service is consistently attentive, prompt, and friendly here. Jason greeted us warmly and followed this with soft, warm bread with Anaheim-spiced garlic butter that we could have filled up on and left happy. It's stellar. Drinks arrived quickly: my Great Divide farmhouse ale and a potent White Russian that had mom in silly mode. Mom took her salad to the woodshed. My cup of green Chile corn chowder hit the spot. We were stoked when our server from my last birthday brought our entrees. It felt like home. While the "Sugar Steak" is their calling card and a number of topping combos are available, we went for straight up beef. No regrets. Medium rare? Perfect. Mom's filet mignon torched the one I had at Gallagher's in Las Vegas a week ago--at a much better price. I tried the wagyu coulette (picanha). Unbelievably tender, it's my new Bastien's fave. Side and soup or salad come with your steak--none of the a la carte nickel-and-diming found at most steakhouses nowadays. This sets Bastien's apart. We enjoyed the twice-baked potato and white cheddar mashers. I can vouch for the loaded baked potato and French onion soup, as well. The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, & the gal (she has short brownish blondish hair & a smile and attitude to remember... she genuinely cared both times) who melted our butter not only this time but last time was such a wonderful cherry on top. We will return to this establishment and definitely recommend.

They timed our pre-ordered apps perfectly and cleared the table right on cue for the tomahawk steaks and sides. Our birthday girl had a great time. We brought a cake, but since it's $5 per person to cut and serve, we boxed it up instead. The restaurant is definitely a vibe perfect for a girls night out and not too far to walk down market street (or uber/lyft) to the bars. For larger groups, the "private" open seating area requires a $2,000 minimum spend with a $1,000 deposit to book. Parking is easy with garage validation next door or valet available. Keep in mind valet will end when the restaurant closes so if you plan to stay out later, let valet know and you can pay so that you have your key to take your car at the end of the night. Super kind guy by the way!

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Great food, great service, and a place I'd happily come back to.

The lamb was excellent, but the sweet mashed potatoes absolutely stole the show and easily the best thing we ate all night. Everything was well prepared and flavorful. For an appetizer, two meats, two sides, and dessert, our total came out to $88, which felt like a great value for the quality. Overall, it left a really good impression and we'd definitely come back again.
